Abstract:
Abstract. One of the challenges in globally consistent assessments of physical climate risks is the fact that asset exposure data are either unavailable or restricted to single countries or regions. We introduce a global high-resolution asset exposure dataset responding to this challenge. The data are produced using “lit population” (LitPop), a globally consistent methodology to disaggregate asset value data proportional to a combination of nightlight intensity and geographical population data. By combining nightlight and population data, unwanted artefacts such as blooming, saturation, and lack of detail are mitigated. Thus, the combination of both data types improves the spatial distribution of macroeconomic indicators. Due to the lack of reported subnational asset data, the disaggregation methodology cannot be validated for asset values. Therefore, we compare disaggregated gross domestic product (GDP) per subnational administrative region to reported gross regional product (GRP) values for evaluation. The comparison for 14 industrialized and newly industrialized countries shows that the disaggregation skill for GDP using nightlights or population data alone is not as high as using a combination of both data types. The advantages of LitPop are global consistency, scalability, openness, replicability, and low entry threshold. The open-source LitPop methodology and the publicly available asset exposure data offer value for manifold use cases, including globally consistent economic disaster risk assessments and climate change adaptation studies, especially for larger regions, yet at considerably high resolution. The code is published on GitHub as part of the open-source software CLIMADA (CLIMate ADAptation) and archived in the ETH Data Archive with the link https://doi.org/10.5905/ethz-1007-226 (Bresch et al., 2019b). The resulting asset exposure dataset for 224 countries is archived in the ETH Research Repository with the link https://doi.org/10.3929/ethz-b-000331316 (Eberenz et al., 2019).

Abstract:
The Danish west coast presents a continue evolution because of its hydrodynamic and geomorphological conditions. The main topic of the following thesis is to analyse and understand the erosion causes in Nørlev Strand, a small village in the North-West coast of Denmark, close to the most famous Lønstrup in the Hjørring Kommune. LITPACK is the software package used as support of the study: LITDRIFT is used understand the erosion (causes and magnitude), LITLINE to simulate the yearly shore-line tendency, LITPROF to see how change the cross-shore profile in case of storm and after, restoring a “normal” condition. Finallly, a solution to erosion is proposed based on local citizens (low visual impact and cost) and Danish Coastal Authority will (the body responsible giving permissions to any changes on the coast).

Abstract:
LitPOS (Lithuanian Positioning System), the network of permanent reference GNSS stations, became operational in July 2007. It provides data both for real-time and post-processing applications. LitPOS stations cover the whole territory of Lithuania. Total number of LitPOS GNSS stations during 2007–2014 period was 25 (since 2015 – 30 stations). Also LitPOS network includes 3 ASG-EUPOS (Poland) and 6 LATPOS (Latvia) stations. LitPOS network data re-processing was done using Bernese (BSW5.2 update 2016 01 08) software. Software was slightly improved by editing scripts and writing procedures for RINEX files preparation, for downloading other necessary data, and for getting two processing solutions from single BPE (Bernese Process Engine) process (total network and sub-network without Polish and Latvian stations).

Abstract:
RTK (Real Time Kinematic) method for positioning is used in daily life by different consumers for many purposes. When there are so many measurements, it is essential to know where RTK measurements are concentrated and which stations are obligatory for LitPOS performance. In this paper, using RTK software generated reports and SQL database records, we introduced the geographic information systems show to graphically LitPOS users activity and density of measurements. Using this data we analyze how LitPOS users are divided among Lithuanian municipalities, how much users are working each month and how this affects LitPOS performance. This study is performed in Lithuania, where state wide permanent GNSS reference station network has been maintained since year 2007.

Abstract:
LitPOS (Lithuanian Positioning System), the network of permanent reference GNSS stations, became operational in July 2007. It provides data both for real-time and post-processing applications. Coordinate time series were obtained from LitPOS reprocessing data for years 2008–2014. The reprocessing was done using Bernese 5.2 software. The analysis of time series was done with Matlab routine “GITSA” (GPS Interactive Time Series Analysis). In this paper the review of obtained coordinate time series will be given, in addition error tracking and some of the results will be assessed. An analysis of discontinuities and outliers with possible problem solutions will be provided. As a result more consistent accumulated multi-year solution is presented.

Abstract:
New research of Lithuanian territory gravity field was started in 2016 with aim to improve accuracy of quasigeoid as well as accuracy of normal heights determined by methods of satellite geodesy. Obtained data could be used in the research of geophysics, geodynamics as well as in performing the precise navigation. Quartz automatic gravimeters Scintrex CG-5 are planned to be used for the survey consisting of 30000 points. Method of gravity measurements was worked out. RMS error of gravity determined with this method does not exceed 60 @Gal. Coordinates and heights of measured points are determined with GNSS using LitPOS network and LIT15G quasigeoid model. RMS error of coordinate determination does not exceed 0,20 m, for normal heights – 0,15 m. Method of gravity anomalies determination and their accuracy estimation was prepared.
