Abstract:
The origin of water’s anomalies has been a matter of long-standing debate. A two-state model, dating back to Röntgen, relies on the dynamical coexistence of two types of local structures—locally favored tetrahedral structure (LFTS) and disordered normal-liquid structure (DNLS)—in liquid water. Phenomenologically, this model not only explains water’s thermodynamic anomalies but also can rationalize the existence of a liquid–liquid critical point (LLCP) if there is a cooperative formation of LFTS. We recently found direct evidence for the coexistence of LFTS and DNLS in the experimental structur

This raises problems when these children develop minor illness or require management of other chronic diseases.AimTo investigate the association between GP attendance patterns and hospital urgent and emergency care use.Design and settingRetrospective cohort study using a primary care data source (Clinical Practice Research Datalink) in England. Using panel data from Denmark from 2001 to 2013, the authors find that serial entrepreneurs—those who open more than one business—have higher sales and greater productivity than do novice entrepreneurs—those who open only one business. Specifically, serial entrepreneurs’ firms have 98% higher sales than the novices’ firms, and serial entrepreneurs utilize more initial capital and labor, and thus are 49% more productive. Further, certain subsets of serial entrepreneurs perform especially well; those who hold a portfolio of overlapping firms or who open as limited liability corporations (LLCs) a

Abstract. Nocturnal low-level stratus clouds (LLCs) are frequently observed in the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) over southern West Africa (SWA) during the summer monsoon season. Considering the effect these clouds have on the surface energy and radiation budgets as well as on the diurnal cycle of the ABL, they are undoubtedly important for the regional climate. However, an adequate representation of LLCs in the state-of-the-art weather and climate models is still a challenge, which is largely due to the lack of high-quality observations in this region and gaps in understanding of underlyin

Abstract The Supreme Court in FHR European Ventures LLP v Cedar Capital Partners LLC [2015] AC 250 made clear that a fiduciary who breaches his fiduciary duties by receiving a bribe will hold that bribe on constructive trust for his principal. This article suggests that the law’s response to a breach of fiduciary duty is focused on the wrong of breach, rather than on enforcing the fiduciary’s primary duties. Viewed through this prism, a more thorough justification than that identified by the Supreme Court is necessary for imposing a constructive trust over a bribe. This article suggests that t

An investigation on the nuclear transmutation of elemental long-lived fission product (LLFP) in a fast reactor is being conducted focusing on the I-129 LLFP (half-life 15.7 million years) to reduce the environmental burden. The LLFP assembly is loaded into the radial blanket region of a Japanese MONJU class sodium-cooled fast reactor (710 MWth, 148 days/cycle). The iodine element containing I-129 LLFP (without isotope separation) is mixed with YD2 and/or YH2 moderator material to enhance the nuclear transmutation rate. We studied the optimal moderator volume fraction to maximize the transmutat

Abstract Abstract 1737 Protective immunity against infection requires sustained antibody production by long-lived plasma cells (LLPC) that survive for years/decades within specialized niches. What regulates/supports this survival remains largely unknown. However, is has been shown normal and transformed (human multiple myeloma) LLPC are critically dependent on the bone marrow microenvironment including cell-to-cell interactions. Leading us to rationalize, modulating this interaction could either enhance antibody production for cancer vaccine development or conversely compromise the survival of

The obtained LLCs were characterized by XRD and SEM in order to analysis the texture, structure and the transformation. In addition, the LLCs have been applied in the preparation of TiO2nanoparticles in our research. The obtained TiO2powder were characterized by XRD and SEM, more importantly, the results sho
