Abstract:
Abstract Mixed culture filtrates of Photorhabdus luminescens isolated from Heterorhabditis bacteriophora H06 and from H. indica LN2 had a toxic effect on axenic H. bacteriophora H06 dauer juveniles. Single culture filtrates had no effect. When one filtrate originated from a secondary phase culture, the toxic effect was lost. Heat treatment of one of the filtrates to 80°C destroyed the effect. The toxin is probably synthesized de novo after mixing the culture supernatants of these two P. luminescens symbionts. Dilution of the filtrate reduced the effect, and it was lost when P. luminescens was cultured for more than two days. Steinernema carpocapsae A24 was not affected by the mixture, and was affected only by the filtrate of primary phase P. luminescens H06. The toxic effect was recorded also when axenic dauer juveniles of H. bacteriophora were inoculated into a mixed bacterial culture of H06 and LN2. Inoculating monoxenic dauer juveniles of H. bacteriophora H06 into P. luminescens LN2 or into mixtures containing LN2 bacteria resulted in significant dauer juvenile mortality. These manifestations of the interaction of bacteria to produce toxic effects on the non-symbiotic nematode (trans-specific activity) may have an impact on competitive interactions when one insect host is infected by different nematode species.

Abstract:
Stemphylium solani, which causes a new leaf blight of cotton, was suspected of producing a phytotoxin. Studies were conducted to examine the relationship between the reaction of different cotton cultivars and of some unrelated host species to the pathogen and its toxin-containing culture filtrates. Seven single spore isolates of S. solani from cotton and their toxin-containing culture filtrates were used for leaf and root bioassays. An isolate of S. solani from tomato was also used for comparison. The phytotoxic effect was isolate dependent. Culture filtrates of five isolates killed 40 to 60% of the cotton seedlings when incubated for 4 days at 10-1 dilution. At 10-2 dilution, the culture filtrates of most of the isolates affected the development of the root system but failed to kill any seedling. The phytotoxic effect of the culture filtrate was not degraded by autoclaving. A high correlation coefficient between the percentage of the leaf area infected (LAI) by S. solani and the percentage of the necrotic leaf area (LAN) by the culture filtrate was observed when one of the aggressive isolates and its culture filtrate were tested against adult plants of 38 cotton cultivars (r = 0.86). Cultivars CNPA T-1180-23, CNPA-PRECOCE 2, PR 94-215, and PR 94-82 demonstrated resistance to the pathogen as well as insensitivity or moderate sensitivity to its toxin. Cultivars showing intermediate reaction to the pathogen also showed intermediate reaction to its culture filtrate. Similarly, the highly susceptible cultivars Paraná 3, PR 93-129, and PR 94-216 also were highly sensitive to the culture filtrate. Of the 18 plant species belonging to 18 genera, eight were susceptible to the pathogen. With two exceptions, susceptible hosts were also sensitive to the culture filtrate, whereas nonsusceptible hosts were insensitive. A component of the culture filtrate was regarded as a pathogenicity factor.

Abstract:
Phototrophic purple non-sulfur bacteria (PNSB) mineralize organic waste. In media with different organic substances they are metabolized from simple aliphatic organic acids to complex polysaccharides. These bacteria can produce H2, indole-3-acetic acid and 5-aminolevulinic acid. PNSB purify waters from hydrogen sulfide and, as components of ecosystem trophic chains, participate in process of sulfur cycle. The ability of these bacteria to denitrification is of particular interest to specialists because nitrates concentrations in industrial effluents are often much higher than the maximum permissible concentrations. The use of industrial, agricultural and household wastes to produce PNSB biomass is economically profitable. Therefore, the aim of our work was to investigate the influence of wastewater of the yeast plant and the water of the settler № 3 filtrate of the Lviv Solid Household Waste Landfill (LSHWL) on the biomass accumulation by PNSB Rhodopseudomonas yavorovii IMV B-7620 and the changes in the composition of these waters in the process of cultivation of the investigated bacteria. Bacteria were grown for 21 days anaerobically at an illumination intensity of 200 lux in 500 ml flasks at +29 ... +30 °C. The wastewater of the yeast plant and the water of the settler № 3 filtrate of the LSHWL were used as the cultivation media. Water was diluted at 10; 30; 50; 100 times. In water, diluted at 10 times, the pH, total ferrum content, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, NO3-, NO2-, SO42-, HS- and chemical oxygen demand (COD) were determined. The biomass of bacteria was measured turbidimetrically at λ = 660 nm. The concentration of HS- was determined spectrophotometrically (λ = 665 nm) by the formation of methylene blue. The content of sulfate ions was determined turbidimetrically (λ = 520 nm) after their precipitation with barium chloride. The concentrations of Ca2+ and Mg2+ were determined titrometrically by reaction with trilon B; Na+ and K+ were analyzed by flame emission spectrometry method (lK = 768 nm, lNa = 589 nm). The pH of the water was measured potentiometrically. The concentration of Cl- was determined titrometrically by reaction with AgNO3. The concentration of nitrite ions was determined spectrophotometrically by the method of sulfanilic acid diazotization by nitrite ions and the interaction of the formed salt with n-(naphthyl)ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (λ = 540 nm, l = 10 mm). The concentration of nitrate ions was determined spectrophotometrically by the diazotization method. Zinc powder was used as the reducing agent. COD was measured with using of KMnO4. It is characterised the patterns of biomass accumulation by R. yavorovii IMV B-7620 bacteria in the wastewater of the yeast plant and the water of the settler № 3 filtrate of the LSHWL, diluted at 10–100 times. The optimal dilution (at 10 times) of water for bacteria cultivation was selected. Bacteria R. yavorovii IMV B-7620 accumulate biomass of 2.2 g/l during growth in a yeast plant wastewater that is twice as large as the biomass, accumulated by bacteria in the diluted water of the settler № 3 filtrate. The organic compounds oxidation efficiency of the yeast plant wastewater and of the settler № 3 filtrate of LSHWL, determined by chemical oxygen demand, was 42.3 and 65.6 %, respectively, on the 21st day of cultivation. The established possibility of the influence of R. yavorovii IMV B-7620 on the decreasing of the content of total Fe, Ca2+, Mg2+, NO3-, NO2-, SO42-, Cl-, HS- in wastewater has complemented and broadened the understanding of the role of purple non-sulfur bacteria in ecosystems, which can significantly influence on the biogeochemical cycles of these compounds in nature. The results obtained may form the basis for the development of effective biotechnologies for wastewater treatment from hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, ferrum, nitrogen, sulfur compounds with the participation of these microorganisms.

Abstract:
Recently the demand in the development of eco-friendly nanoparticles as alternative to chemical and physical methods has been increasing so the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of silver nitrate concentration and extracellular filtrate (EF) produced by a filamentous fungus isolated from a spent catalyst and coded e identified as Penicillium purpurogenum CATMC-AH-1 on Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) production. The filamentous fungus was growth in two culture media named Sucrose and Czapeck media to produce biomass and its was put in contact with water to get two different extracellular filtrates called EFS (extracellular filtrate sucrose) and EFC (extracellular filtrate Czapeck), the EF has the molecules involved to synthesis and stabilization of AgNPs. Three concentrations of AgNO3 1, 1.5 and 2 mM and both extracellular filtrates were used to produce AgNPs. The AgNPs produced were monitored by UV-visible absorption spectra from 200 to 800 nm while their morphology and size were identified by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and software analysis SPIP 2.6.0. Results showed that both extracellular filtrates had the ability to produce AgNPs with the three concentrations of AgNO3 used. TEM analysis showed AgNPs with spherical morphology in all systems. The AgNPs synthesized in EFS with the three AgNO3 concentrations showed average sizes of 8.9, 8.4 and 6.7 nm respectively. From EFC, the average sizes of AgNPs were of 14.9, 11.5 and 10.1 nm respectively. In summary, in EFS smallest sizes and diameter dispersion of AgNPs were obtained, comparing to EFC and the spherical shape was similar in both filtrates. The AgNO3 concentration had a positive effect when the EFC filtrate was used since a direct correlation was observed between the concentrations of silver nitrate and increase the absorption band around 420 nm as result of surface plasmon resonance of AgNPs produced. The AgNPs biosynthesized from both EF (EFS and EFC) could be used as antimicrobial agent by their small size. Parameter as silver nitrate concentrations and culture media are important because could be affect the size and concentrations of AgNPs biosynthesized.

Besides familiar and academic socialization, the autor of this paper defends the real existence of an influencing and newcoming mediatic socialization. This happens main -ly because media have a big influence on audience. Media are, without any doubt, the main cultural blackground where children and youngsters are inmersed and everybody agrees information given by them is more important than the one given at school.

Abstract:
Selective synthesis of specific phased nanomaterials via a green route is a promising yet challenging task. In the present work, the hexagonal and monoclinic phases of BiPO4:Ln3+ (Ln = Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy) were prepared via room temperature co-precipitation method. For adjusting the phase of the products, the prepared mediums selected were the most common solvents, i.e., water and ethanol. It was very important that the prepared mediums could be easily recycled and reused by evaporating the filtrate. The formation mechanisms of hexagonal in water and monoclinic in ethanol were investigated. Interestingly, the growth behaviors of these phases were quite distinct and thus gave rise to distinct morphology and particle size. The hexagonal phase possesses a rod-like morphology with diameters of 50–160 nm and lengths of 65–400 nm while the monoclinic phase consists of almost entirely irregular nanoparticles. Also, it was found that the bending and stretching vibrations of O–H and PO4 tetrahedra were quite different for the products prepared in water and ethanol. Moreover, it was found that the luminescence properties, including emission intensity, lifetime, quantum efficiency, and color, could be readily tailored through controlling the phase structures and microstructures. The results showed that the monoclinic phase exhibited superior luminescent performance to the hexagonal phase. The methodologies reported in this work were fundamentally important, which could be easily extended to large-scale synthesis of other phased nanomaterials for potential applications as electroluminescent devices, optical integrated circuits, or biomarkers.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with pronounced infiltration of granulocytes and lymphocytes into the gastric mucosa, resulting in active chronic gastritis that may develop into duodenal ulcer disease or gastric adenocarcinoma. Infiltrating T cells play a major role in the pathology of these diseases, but the signals involved in recruitment of T cells from blood to H. pylori-infected tissues are not well understood. We therefore examined H. pylori-induced T-cell transendothelial migration (TEM). The Transwell system, employing a monolayer of human umbilical vein endothelial cells, was used as a model to study TEM. H. pylori induced a significant T-cell migration, compared to spontaneous migration. CD4+ and CD8+ T cells migrated to the same extent in response to H. pylori, whereas there was significantly larger transmigration of memory T cells compared to naive T cells. Both H. pylori culture filtrate and urease induced migration, and the presence of the H. pylori cag pathogenicity island increased TEM. T-cell TEM was mediated by LFA-1-ICAM-1 interactions in accordance with an increased ICAM-1 expression on the endothelial cells after contact with H. pylori. Migrating T cells had increased expression of activation marker CD69 and chemokine receptors CXCR3, CCR4, and CCR9. Furthermore, T cells migrating in response to H. pylori secreted Th1 but not Th2 cytokines upon stimulation. In conclusion, our data indicate that live H. pylori and its secreted products contribute to T-cell recruitment to the gastric mucosa and that the responding T cells have an activated memory Th1 phenotype.

Abstract:
TV stands at a predominant place is the audiovisual world. At present we share our lives and homes with this media. We use it and try to take advantages from it. TV is a powerful mean to transmit cultural values and patterns. It appeals children intensively who accept it in a passive way. Therefore it is necessary to study the operative conditions for the TV integration un the school context.

Abstract:
International audience Raycasting is the most common target pointing technique in virtual reality environments. However, performance on small and distant targets is impacted by the accuracy of the pointing device and the user's motor skills. Current pointing facilitation techniques are currently only applied in the context of the virtual hand, i.e. for targets within reach. We propose enhancements to Raycasting : filtering the ray, and adding a controllable cursor on the ray to select the nearest target. We describe a series of studies for the design of the visual feedforward, filtering technique, as well as a comparative study between different 3D pointing techniques. Our results show that highlighting the nearest target is one of the most efficient visual feedforward technique. We also show that filtering the ray reduces error rate in a drastic way. Finally we show the benefits of RayCursor compared to Raycasting and another technique from the literature.
