Abstract:
This thesis describes the design of low noise amplifier (LNA) for the international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project. LNAs in radio astronomy receivers play an important role of amplifying very weak signals from the Universe and the significance of the LNAs become more crucial in the SKA which is the largest and most sensitive radio telescope in the World. The aperture array (AA) system proposed for SKA is projected to deploy tens of millions of LNAs in a receiver system to survey large areas of the sky simultaneously over the frequency bands of 70-450MHz and 400-1400MHz. Hence LNA power e

Abstract:
Electron spin-polarized helium 2$\sp3$S$\sb1$ metastable atoms are a valuable probe of spin-dependent phenomena. Helium metastable atoms can be polarized by illumination with circularly-polarized 1.083 $\mu$m 2$\sp3$S$\sb1 \leftrightarrow$ 2$\sp3$P$\sb{0,1,2}$ resonance radiation in a process known as optical pumping. Metastable atom polarizations obtained in this manner have been limited by the low intensity of optical pumping radiation available from helium discharge lamps, until now the only practical source of 1.083 $\mu$m light. However, recent advances in the field of solid-state near-in

In low noise amplifier we used this architecture to match the input impedance while providing better noise figure. In mixer we maintain character of the Gilbert cell mixer and employed dc coupled capacitor to achieve low supply voltage. According to ADS simulation, the LNA dissipates 18mW and provides 1.8dB noise figure, 18.7dB power gain and an input 1dB compression level of —9dBm at 2.4GHz. The mixer dissipates 7.7mW,

A two amplified stage topology is proposed in the low noise amplifier. The first stage introduces inductively source degeneration, it can achieve wideband input impedance matching. The second stage introduces traditional CS configuration, it can improve the forward gain (S21). The second stage also used L-C section for output match.
