Phase transformations in (111) Si after spherical indentation have been investigated by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. Even at an indentation load of 20 mN, a phase transformation zone including the high-pressure crystalline Si phases was observed within the residual imprints. The volume of the transformation zone, as well as that of the crystalline phases increased with the indentation load. Below the transformation zone, slip was found to occur on {311} planes rather than on {111} planes, usually observed on indentation of (100) Si. The distribution of defects was asymmetr

The average microhardness of the initial sample is Hμ ≈ 4,89 GPa. After wear, the average value increases to Hμ ≈ 6,92 GPa. Statistical analysis of the

INTRODUCTION: Hemorrhagic transformation of the ischemic core following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic strokes can negate the benefits of the procedure. Previous regressions have identified variables suggesting larger strokes and longer procedural times as significant predictors of hemorrhagic transformation. Tandem occlusions add another layer of complexity, as the proximal carotid occlusion and the emergent carotid artery angioplasty and stenting (eCAS) introduces additional factors that can influence hemorrhagic transformation by altering the dynamics of reperfusion. Load variation is a major problem in power system which affects the supply system adversely. Load fluctuation may damage the supply equipment's partially or permanently in a distributed generating system. The load variation at the receiving side of power system is not in our hand, but by using some techniques we can overcome this problem. Load Sharing is an excellent choice for the transformation of load from surplus zone to deficient zone. Load sharing is necessary for a distribution substation when a transformer is overloaded due to rapid increase in electrical load it might be damaged,

Dynamic response of a circular tunnel embedded in a porous medium and subjected to a moving axisymmetric ring load is investigated in this paper. In this study, two scalar potentials and two vectorial potentials are introduced to represent the displacements for the solid skeleton and the pore fluid. Based on Biot’s theory and applying the Fourier transformation on time variable, a set of frequency domain governing equations for the potentials are obtained. To achieve high accuracy in prediction, a load forecasting algorithm must model various consumer behaviors in response to weather conditions or special events. Different triggers will have various effects on different customers and lead to difficulties in constructing an adequate prediction model due to non-stationary and uncertain characteristics in load variations. This paper proposes an open-ended model of short-term load forecasting (STLF) which has general prediction ability to capture the non-linear relationship between the load demand and the exogenous inputs. Based on Gaussian load processes, a new formula suitable for evaluating the combined fatigue damage due to high- and low-frequency loads is derived. Then, by using of the Winterstein’s transformation, the developed formula is extended for the combination of non-Gaussian loads. The numerical simulation shows that the predicted damage by the derived formula is very simple to use and close to the rain-flow prediction.

This paper discusses the cracking in monocrystalline silicon induced by microindentation with spherical and Berkovich indenters and scratching. It was found cracks always commenced in a specimen’s subsurface beneath the transformation zone. While using a Berkovich indenter the level of the maximum indentation load, Pmax, to initiate microcracking was lower than the case with a spherical indenter. In both indentation and scratching all microcracks took place at the sites of slip intersection or emanated from the bottom of a transformation zone. Abstract YAG crystals are typically hard and brittle materials that are prone to be damaged during optical processing. In order to improve processing quality, it is necessary to avoid brittle damage as much as possible so that the material is removed in the plastic domain, so it is particularly important to study the critical conditions for the brittle-plastic transition of YAG crystals. The brittle-plastic transition of the (100) and (111) crystal faces of YAG crystals was investigated by variable load and constant load nano-scratch experiments.
