Abstract:
This study examines the effects of reactivity temperament and locus of control variables on subjective well‐being (SWB). SWB is operationalized as positive affect, the absence of somatic concerns, and heightened life satisfaction. The study hypotheses were that (1) reactivity and locus of control influenced SWB and that (2) affect either mediated or moderated the influence of these traits on SWB. As expected, high reactivity and external locus of control were associated with lower SWB, whereas low reactivity and internal locus of control were associated with higher SWB. However, the data indicate that reactivity and locus of control influenced different components of SWB and that locus of control predicted SWB more consistently than reactivity. Somatic health is influenced by reactivity, locus of control and negative affect, but not positive affect. Current life satisfaction is influenced by locus of control—but not reactivity—and by both positive and negative affect. Hope is related to reactivity but not to either locus of control or affect. The data corroborate the expectation that affect serves as a mediator in the trait—SWB relations, whereas the view that affect moderates the effect of stable dispositions on SWB finds scant support. Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationship between internal health locus of control, mental health problems, and subjective well-being in adults during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the mediating effect of mental health problems on the relationship between internal health locus of control and subjective well-being was examined. A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted via online survey. The participants were 600 adults over 20 years of age living in South Korea. The collected data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis and SPSS Process Macro (Model 4). As a result of the study, the internal health locus of control had a significant negative effect on mental health problems. In addition, in the process of the internal health locus of control affecting subjective well-being, the mediating effect of mental health problems was significantly shown. In the period of an infectious disease pandemic such as COVID-19, it is necessary to establish a strong internal health locus of control of individuals and to promote monitoring and treatment introduction for those with a low internal health locus of control. In addition, it was discussed that controlling mental health problems can improve subjective well-being, which is life satisfaction and happiness.

Abstract:
Abstract We examine trait and state subjective aging as antecedents of control beliefs in older adults with a daily diary design. Adults (n=116) ranging in age from 60 to 90 (M=64.71) completed a nine-day daily diary study online. Participants reported trait aging attitudes (Attitudes Towards Own Aging; ATOA) on Day 1 and daily Awareness of Age-Related Change (AARC) of loss and gain experiences and control beliefs (Locus of Control and Perceived Competence) on Days 2-9. Controlling for demographics and known antecedents of control beliefs (health, stressors, emotional well-being, and cognition), daily increases in AARC gain were associated with increases in both Locus of Control and Perceived Competence, and a cross-level interaction revealed that Locus of Control decreased for those with more positive ATOA on days when they reported more AARC losses. Discussion will focus on interpreting the interaction between trait and state subjective aging.

Abstract:
The youth are treated as a psychological age, during which the transition to independence, a period of self-determination, the acquisition of psychological, ideological and civic maturity occurs, outlook, moral consciousness and self-consciousness are formed. This article highlights features of the development of the locus of control at a young age. The concept of locus of control and its types is disclosed. Also described are the factors that influence the formation of the activity of behavioural activity and attitudes of subjects in adolescence, namely - its formation depends on both internal (subjective) and external (objective) factors. However, the perception of the world through one type of locus is crucial: internal (internal) or by the external (external) locus of control. The relevance of the study is due to the needs of both theoretical and practical needs. First of all, the need to follow how the locus of control directs the young man's actions in the direction necessary for his development. Central to the development of psychological tumours is the emergence of phenomena of consciousness during adolescence and adolescence, which dramatically changes the behaviour of the young man towards himself and the world, as he becomes able to make choices independently, based on personal principles and values and be responsible for the choice made. It is also conditioned by the importance of the process of self-determination of personality, which is the most important goal during the adolescence. In this regard, it is clear that the question of the locus of control, like the search for oneself, is receiving attention in psychology. Thus, the term locus of control allows us to trace the significant moments of manifestations of activity in the behavioural activity and relationships of subjects. What is the reason for the change in emotional and behavioural responses is due to the lack of people with a predominant external or internal locus of control.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Entrepreneurship acts as a panacea for improving country growth and is prevalent in reducing the unemployment rate. A plethora of studies have focused on the main determinants that affect people’s intention to become an entrepreneur. The entrepreneurship intention research is mainly focused on the influence of the external environment and the individual personality aspects are not sufficiently considered. This study examines the mediating effect of locus of control in the relationship between subjective norm and youth entrepreneurship intention. This study is based on a cross‐sectional online survey design. The sample includes 248 Malaysian youth. The variables are measured based on the adapted scales and IBM SPSS 27 was used for the statistical analysis. Data were analysed using regression analysis to assess the possible mediating effect of locus of control. The present study provides evidence that locus of control partially mediates the relationship between subjective norm and entrepreneurship intention. Thus, this study concluded how entrepreneurs differ from the rest of the population in terms of locus of control. This study contributes to entrepreneurship literature by revealing that individuals with a high internal locus of control are more likely to become entrepreneurs.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) is a sport with subjective judgment. Locus of control is the perception that an action or the result of an action is either on one’s control or out of one’s control. Purpose of the present study was to examine the way coaches and judges perceive the degree of control a coach has on athletes’ success in through their roles. Seventy-seven coaches and judges from Greece were the participants of the study. Perceived Locus of Control general in life and Perceived Locus of Control in athletic success were measured by questionnaires. Results showed that coaches and judges perceive that athletic success in RG is due basically to internal factors. Judges scored higher than coaches in internal Locus of Control in RG and judges with previous coaching experience scored lower in Locus of Control Chance Global than judges with no coaching experience and coaches. Locus of control in RG could be generally be predicted by locus of control globally.

Abstract:
Cancer has long been a prevalent illness in Hong Kong which caused tremendous stress on patients and their families. This study examined the cognitive process and behavioral efforts which related to cancer patients’ subjective well-being. Three hypotheses were proposed. First, higher internal locus of control over the cause of illness was hypothesized to relate to poorer subjective well-being through maladaptive coping. Second, higher internal locus of control over the course of illness may result in better subjective well-being through adaptive coping. Third, higher levels of hope may relate to better subjective well-being through adaptive coping. Ninety-eight patients with different types of cancers were recruited in this study. The results showed that internal locus of control over the cause of illness was not directly related to subjective well-being. The relationship between internal locus of control over the course of illness and social/family well-being was fully mediated by adaptive cognitive-behavioral coping and social and activity-engagement coping respectively in two separate mediation analyses. The relationship between levels of hope and social/family well-being was partially mediated by social and activity-engagement coping, while levels of hope significantly associated with social/family, emotional, functional and overall well-being. The study findings enhance understanding of close relationship between cognitive process and behavioral efforts in enhancing cancer patients’ adjustment to the illness.

Abstract:
Cancer, the most common cause of death in Hong King, poses marked psychological impacts through treatment into cancer survivorship. Literature indicated that internal health locus of control was associated with better psychosocial adjustment (Wang et al., 2013). Meanwhile, fatalistic view was related to avoidant coping and poor psychological adjustment (Chan, 2000). However, fatalism might have a different meaning for the Chinese (Ho et al., 2003). The present study examined the relationship of health locus of control, fate Control and subjective well-being among Chinese cancer patients. Ninety-nine cancer patients were assessed with Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, Fate Control Scale from Social Axiom Survey and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy Scale-General during active treatment (Time 1) and with WHO-5 Well-Being Index at a six-month follow-up (Time 2). At Time 1, results indicated positive correlation between powerful others health locus of control and functional well-being. At Time 2, internal health locus of control was positively correlated with WHO-5 while social well-being at Time 1 was positively correlated with WHO-5. Implication of findings and limitations of study were discussed.

Abstract:
The bidirectional link between insufficient sleep and the distress related to a parasomnia known as isolated sleep paralysis (ISP) might lead to chronic health effects. The impact of fear-ridden hallucinations related to this REM sleep disorder can be both distressful and embarrassing for individuals often resulting in a reticence to seek help. This quantitative study was guided by a biopsychosocial approach with an integrated theoretical framework. One aim of the study was to determine if fear parameters of ISP (low and high) differ when considering psychosocial factors and sleep quality, based on the Dysfunctional Beliefs and Attitudes About Sleep Scale, the Social Phobia Inventory, the Locus of Control (LOC) subscales, and the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Inventory. Predictive associations between psychosocial factors and subjective sleep quality (SSQ) were also investigated. Retrospective online data from a sample of 159 participants ages 18 and over were analyzed via MANOVA, multiple regression, and independent samples t-tests. Findings from the MANOVA were significant and showed that participants who experience ISP with more fear scored higher on two measures, external other LOC and social phobia. The MANOVA regarding differences in SSQ in relation to psychosocial variables were not significant, and independent sample t-tests did not differentiate fear parameters for DBAS and SSQ (poor sleep was found for both parameters). Providers of therapeutic treatments should take factors of social phobia and external other LOC into account with regards to poor sleep quality for those distressed by ISP. Sleep quality assessments might benefit those who are afraid to disclose about ISP sleep distress, as long term poor sleep can place some at risk for negative health outcomes.

Abstract:
Developed around the medical model, Psychology has directed its scientific efforts principally toward the study of the dysfunctional aspects of human behavior rather than toward the potential of the individual. This has created a disequilibrium in the field of study of this science which by focusing its attention almost exclusively on human problems has relegated themes such as Happiness to the so-called self-help literature. Based on the theoretical reference of Positive Psychology, this study seeks to understand Human Happiness from a scientific point of view. We judge this approach fundamental to the construction of a body of theory consistent with the theme and capable of helping in the development of preventive mental health programs. Therefore, we research the relationship between happiness and control "locus" in a sample of 106 university students, using the Spearman Correlation and the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results indicate that the greater the internal control locus of the individuals studied, the greater their level of personal happiness.

Abstract:
The study aimed to investigate whether there are correlations between conscientiousness, Lo-cus of Control and job motivation, and if age and length of service predict job motivation. The study comprised 63 staff (28 women and 35 men) at a telecommunications company in Swe-den. To study conscientiousness, we used a self-constructed test with good internal homo-geneity, Cronbach's alpha = .85. To study Locus of Control and job motivation we used al-ready developed tests, with high validity and reliability, created by Rotter (1966) and Cam-mann, Fichman, Jenkins and Klesh ( in Bowling & Hammond 2008). Statistical tests, using both bivariate correlations such as Spearman's rho and standard and hierarchical MRA showed significant relationship between conscientiousness and job motivation. Using stan-dard MRA shows that only conscientiousness predicts aspects of motivation. Neither age nor length of service predicted aspects of motivation, which is not consistent with previous re-search. The discussion is carried on effect on the outcome in relation to previous research.

Abstract:
Resultatet visades i första hand gälla förstfödda män.
