Abstract:
This study examines the effects of reactivity temperament and locus of control variables on subjective well‐being (SWB). SWB is operationalized as positive affect, the absence of somatic concerns, and heightened life satisfaction. The study hypotheses were that (1) reactivity and locus of control influenced SWB and that (2) affect either mediated or moderated the influence of these traits on SWB. As expected, high reactivity and external locus of control were associated with lower SWB, whereas low reactivity and internal locus of control were associated with higher SWB. However, the data indicate that reactivity and locus of control influenced different components of SWB and that locus of control predicted SWB more consistently than reactivity. Somatic health is influenced by reactivity, locus of control and negative affect, but not positive affect. Current life satisfaction is influenced by locus of control—but not reactivity—and by both positive and negative affect. Hope is related to reactivity but not to either locus of control or affect. The data corroborate the expectation that affect serves as a mediator in the trait—SWB relations, whereas the view that affect moderates the effect of stable dispositions on SWB finds scant support. Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationship between internal health locus of control, mental health problems, and subjective well-being in adults during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the mediating effect of mental health problems on the relationship between internal health locus of control and subjective well-being was examined. A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted via online survey. The participants were 600 adults over 20 years of age living in South Korea. The collected data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis and SPSS Process Macro (Model 4). As a result of the study, the internal health locus of control had a significant negative effect on mental health problems. In addition, in the process of the internal health locus of control affecting subjective well-being, the mediating effect of mental health problems was significantly shown. In the period of an infectious disease pandemic such as COVID-19, it is necessary to establish a strong internal health locus of control of individuals and to promote monitoring and treatment introduction for those with a low internal health locus of control. In addition, it was discussed that controlling mental health problems can improve subjective well-being, which is life satisfaction and happiness.

Abstract:
Abstract We examine trait and state subjective aging as antecedents of control beliefs in older adults with a daily diary design. Adults (n=116) ranging in age from 60 to 90 (M=64.71) completed a nine-day daily diary study online. Participants reported trait aging attitudes (Attitudes Towards Own Aging; ATOA) on Day 1 and daily Awareness of Age-Related Change (AARC) of loss and gain experiences and control beliefs (Locus of Control and Perceived Competence) on Days 2-9. Controlling for demographics and known antecedents of control beliefs (health, stressors, emotional well-being, and cognition), daily increases in AARC gain were associated with increases in both Locus of Control and Perceived Competence, and a cross-level interaction revealed that Locus of Control decreased for those with more positive ATOA on days when they reported more AARC losses. Discussion will focus on interpreting the interaction between trait and state subjective aging.

Abstract:
The youth are treated as a psychological age, during which the transition to independence, a period of self-determination, the acquisition of psychological, ideological and civic maturity occurs, outlook, moral consciousness and self-consciousness are formed. This article highlights features of the development of the locus of control at a young age. The concept of locus of control and its types is disclosed. Also described are the factors that influence the formation of the activity of behavioural activity and attitudes of subjects in adolescence, namely - its formation depends on both internal (subjective) and external (objective) factors. However, the perception of the world through one type of locus is crucial: internal (internal) or by the external (external) locus of control. The relevance of the study is due to the needs of both theoretical and practical needs. First of all, the need to follow how the locus of control directs the young man's actions in the direction necessary for his development. Central to the development of psychological tumours is the emergence of phenomena of consciousness during adolescence and adolescence, which dramatically changes the behaviour of the young man towards himself and the world, as he becomes able to make choices independently, based on personal principles and values and be responsible for the choice made. It is also conditioned by the importance of the process of self-determination of personality, which is the most important goal during the adolescence. In this regard, it is clear that the question of the locus of control, like the search for oneself, is receiving attention in psychology. Thus, the term locus of control allows us to trace the significant moments of manifestations of activity in the behavioural activity and relationships of subjects. What is the reason for the change in emotional and behavioural responses is due to the lack of people with a predominant external or internal locus of control.

Abstract:
Entrepreneurship acts as a panacea for improving country growth and is prevalent in reducing the unemployment rate. A plethora of studies have focused on the main determinants that affect people’s intention to become an entrepreneur. The entrepreneurship intention research is mainly focused on the influence of the external environment and the individual personality aspects are not sufficiently considered. This study examines the mediating effect of locus of control in the relationship between subjective norm and youth entrepreneurship intention. This study is based on a cross‐sectional online survey design. The sample includes 248 Malaysian youth. The variables are measured based on the adapted scales and IBM SPSS 27 was used for the statistical analysis. Data were analysed using regression analysis to assess the possible mediating effect of locus of control. The present study provides evidence that locus of control partially mediates the relationship between subjective norm and entrepreneurship intention. Thus, this study concluded how entrepreneurs differ from the rest of the population in terms of locus of control. This study contributes to entrepreneurship literature by revealing that individuals with a high internal locus of control are more likely to become entrepreneurs.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) is a sport with subjective judgment. Locus of control is the perception that an action or the result of an action is either on one’s control or out of one’s control. Purpose of the present study was to examine the way coaches and judges perceive the degree of control a coach has on athletes’ success in through their roles. Seventy-seven coaches and judges from Greece were the participants of the study. Perceived Locus of Control general in life and Perceived Locus of Control in athletic success were measured by questionnaires. Results showed that coaches and judges perceive that athletic success in RG is due basically to internal factors. Judges scored higher than coaches in internal Locus of Control in RG and judges with previous coaching experience scored lower in Locus of Control Chance Global than judges with no coaching experience and coaches. Locus of control in RG could be generally be predicted by locus of control globally.

Abstract:
Responsible human behaviour in life involves overcoming diffi culties, taking on additional responsibilities, which is accompanied by considerable willpower. However, to date, the relationship between the locus of control and the ability to volitional effort has not been fully studied. This article presents the results of the authors‘ correlation and regression analysis of the relationship between the locus of control and willpower in students – future teachers. The empirical study was attended by university students studying in pedagogic areas of training. As a result of the study, a positive statistically signifi cant relationship was established between the level of general internality of students and the generalised indicator of willpower. Statistically signifi cant correlations between the level of willpower and the level of subjective control in the fi eld of achievements, failures, and family relationships are revealed. It is determined that willpower is a predictor of the general level of internality of students-teachers, as well as their internality in the fi eld of achievements, failures, and family relationships. It is shown that students with a high level of subjective control statistically signifi cantly outperform students with a low level of subjective control in the generalised indicator of willpower.

Abstract:
Entrepreneurial intention measurements are important that should be managed and which can be used to enhance number of entrepreneurs from higher school graduates. This study aims to examine determinant factors affecting students’ entrepreneurial intention from subjective norms, attitudes, self-efficacy, locus of control perspectives and understanding the role of entrepreneurship education. This study adopted a survey with correlation approach to obtain a greater understanding for the phenomenon. The data were collected using purposive method from questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale to voluntary respondents and were analyzed using SPPS application. The findings of the study indicate that the variable of subjective norm, attitude, self-efficacy, locus of control, entrepreneurship education and adversity quotient successfully drive students’ entrepreneurial intention. This study suggests to pay attention these variables in driving students’ entrepreneurial intentions.

Abstract:
Objectives: An attention to psychological aspects can clarify the understanding and management of patients with unresolved dizziness/vertigo. Thus, we study the locus of control and the mediation effect of self-efficacy for assessing the relationship between locus of control and dizziness/vertigo in a referral-based dizziness clinic. Methods: We analyzed the dizziness-specific locus of control and self-efficacy using the modified questionnaire in 117 consecutive dizzy patients (34 males; age range, 20–74 years). In addition to the visual analogue scale-dizziness for evaluation of subjective dizziness, the following items were further evaluated; Korean Dizziness Handicap Inventory, Korean Beck Depression Inventory II, and Korean Beck Anxiety Inventory. According to the verification procedure proposed by Hayes, the mediation effect of self-efficacy verifies the relationship between the locus of control and dizziness through analysis. Results: Except the scale of emotion such as anxiety and depression, sex, age, duration of illness, and diagnosis all did not significantly affect the dependent variables. Vestibular migraine (39.3%), vestibulopathy (15.4%), and dizziness associated with anxiety and depression (14.5%) were the most common diagnoses. On all scales, Cronbach’s α ranged from 0.72 to 0.94. In the direct effect, the internal locus of control had a tendency of aggravation of dizziness/vertigo, but in the indirect effect, the higher the internal locus of control, the higher the self-efficacy, and the higher the self-efficacy, the lower the dizziness. Conclusions: In our study, we can assume that the locus of control can impart ambivalent effects on dizziness/vertigo. And the modulation of self-efficacy could be another treatment for patients with unresolved dizziness.

Abstract:
Bivariate relationships were examined between scores on the Five-Factor Model of personality and four personality dimensions including Self-monitoring, Locus of Control, Type A Behavior, and Subjective Well-being Data were collected from 307 franchise business owner/managers from four different industries. Scores for Self-monitoring were positively related to those on Extraversion; Self-monitoring was the only personality measure significantly correlated with scores on Openness to Experience. Scores for Type A Behavior, measured by the Jenkins Activity Survey, were negatively correlated with Agreeableness and positively correlated with those for Extraversion. Somewhat surprisingly, the score for Type A Behavior had a relatively low correlation with the score for Conscientiousness. Scores for Subjective Well-being and Locus of Control were most strongly correlated with the positive pole of Neuroticism (Emotional Stability), Conscientiousness, and Extraversion. Possible explanations for the observed relationships are discussed.

Abstract:
Bringing a reusable bag for shopping is a typical pro-environmental behavior and has been shown to be effective in reducing plastics, but research regarding this green behavior is limited. In this regard, using the snowball sampling technique, this study conducts a survey on a sample of 361 Chinese consumers to investigate their intention to bring a reusable bag for shopping based on the theory of planned behavior. To increase the explaining power for behavioral intention, this study extended the TPB by adding two additional variables: locus of control and environmental concern. Data was analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique. Results show that attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norm exert significant and positive influence on consumers’ intention to bring reusable bags for shopping, and the perceived behavioral control exerts the greatest influence, followed by attitude and subjective norm. Both locus of control and environmental concern fail to directly impact consumers’ bringing intention, but they could impact consumers’ intention indirectly. Specifically, the external locus of control exerts a negative influence on attitude and perceived behavioral control. Environmental concern positively impacts consumers’ attitudes towards bringing reusable bags for shopping. Results of this study could provide valuable insights into plastics management and policy design to promote consumers’ green shopping behaviors. For instance, the finding that perceived behavioral control is the greatest contributor to consumers’ intention to bring reusable bags highlights the importance of clearing reusable bag preparation and use barriers.

Abstract:
On a sample of siblings at the age of early adulthood, the structure of links between the locus of control and other psychological characteristics is considered. The sample included 106 pairs of siblings (212 respondents in total) with an age difference of no more than 5 years; the average age of the older sibling is 24.51 ± 4.56, the younger one is 21.73 ± 4.17 full years. Each member of the sibling couple completed 5 questionnaires: Level of Subjective Control, Short Big Five Portrait Inventory, Short Version of the Uncertainty Tolerance Inventory, Short Version of the Sensation Seeking Inventory, and the Dirty Dozen Inventory. The data obtained during the study are studied in two subgroups - older and younger siblings of each pair. It was revealed that, on average, older and younger siblings do not differ from each other in the localization of control over significant events for themselves, both in life in general and in particular specific situations (health status, achievements, failures, family, workplace and interpersonal relationships). At the same time, the study of the structure of the links between the level of subjective control and other psychological characteristics in the groups of older and younger reveals a number of differences.

Abstract:
The article deals with the influence of deprived conditions of socialization in institutional care institutions on the formation of the locus control and self-attitude of personality. The results of empirical research about the features and correlations between some scales of the studied phenomenon have been presented. It has also been found that the deprived youth both sexes have difficulty in self-absorbed, contradictory self-attitude, negative emotions to himself / herself, and the external type of locus control regardless some positive self-attitudes.In the deprived conditions of parental-child interaction, the emotional and value self-attitude of youth has been characterized as reduced ability to self-reflection, feeling guilty, internal conflict, a tendency to self-incrimination, which forming a dependent position in the development of intimate and reference contacts, narrowing the abilities for self-realization in preparing for independent life. Youth of both sexes with deprived experience are insecure in themselves, their potencies and opportunities. They have some ability to building a line of behavior independently; obeying the attitudes about their inferiority and insignificance in the regulation of life; the lack of interest of their internal world; the low assessment of the value of their own image “I” for himself / herself and for others; the expectation of unfavorable reactions, lack of sympathy, negative self-attitude, self-incrimination, self-analysis and self-criticism.In the conditions without psychological and correction work, the diffuse self- attitude causes a self-rejection as a big hurdle to the adaptation and integration into society and destabilizing effect on the possibility of successful personal self-realization in the future. The above actualizes the problem of socio-psychological support of growing personality in current conditions of a variety of deprivation, which provides necessary opportunities for deprived youth of both sexes to compare their real possibilities with the society requirements, their own behavior with the expectations of other people; and opportunity for self-asserted and self-development, resolving internal conflicts.

Abstract:
The brain stem noradrenergic nucleus locus coeruleus (LC) is involved in various costly processes: arousal, stress, and attention. Recent work has pointed toward an implication in physical effort, and indirect evidence suggests that the LC could be also involved in cognitive effort. To assess the dynamic relation between LC activity, effort production, and difficulty, we recorded the activity of 193 LC single units in 5 monkeys performing 2 discounting tasks (a delay discounting task and a force discounting task), as well as a simpler target detection task where conditions were matched for difficulty and only differed in terms of sensory-motor processes. First, LC neurons displayed a transient activation both when monkeys initiated an action and when exerting force. Second, the magnitude of the activation scaled with the associated difficulty, and, potentially, the corresponding amount of effort produced, both for decision and force production. Indeed, at action initiation in both discounting tasks, LC activation increased in conditions associated with lower average engagement rate, i.e., those requiring more cognitive control to trigger the response. Decision-related activation also scaled with response time (RT), over and above task parameters, in line with the idea that it reflects the amount of resources (here time) spent on the decision process. During force production, LC activation only scaled with the amount of force produced in the force discounting task, but not in the control target detection task, where subjective difficulty was equivalent across conditions. Our data show that LC neurons dynamically track the amount of effort produced to face both cognitive and physical challenges with a subsecond precision. This works provides key insight into effort processing and the contribution of the noradrenergic system, which is affected in several pathologies where effort is impaired, including Parkinson disease and depression.

Methods All participants completed in a survey that assessed the degree of participants’ locus of control, expectations of success (self-efficacy), current goals and career-related aspirations and their satisfaction with their relationships and life in general. Twenty-one of the participants and all leaders also were interviewed. Results Regression analyses revealed that both the participants’ self-management and the leader’s locus of control were significant predictors of the participants’ internal locus of control. Congruent with interview findings, latent structural equation analysis revealed that three manifest variables of social-emotional learning, “self-management”, “social awareness”, and “self-efficacy” had direct positive effects on participants’ subjective well-being (i.e., their satisfaction with life and relationships). Conclusion Culturally sensitive approaches to mentoring and training are needed and helpful. Future research should be carried out to mitigate design limitations and further the current study’s addition to the body of research on social-emotional learning and well-being.

Abstract:
Purpose – Green consumer behavior has recently attracted the attention of academic researchers. To address a lack of relevant research, the effects that consumer characteristics (i.e. external locus of control and collectivism) and social influence factors (i.e. environmental visibility and subjective norms) exert on green purchasing intentions are investigated in this study. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected through a quantitative online survey of 1,866 participants in Taiwan, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. Findings – The results show that although an external locus of control exerted a negative effect on consumers’ green consumption intentions, collectivism values exerted a positive influence. In addition, both environmental visibility and subjective norms exerted a significant effect on green purchasing intentions. Originality/value – Consumer characteristics and social influence factors were integrated into green consumer research in this study. The findings can improve green market managers’ understanding of the role that consumer characteristics and social influence factors play in consumer decisions.

Abstract:
Psychological well-being is a significant determinant of mental health and success in profession of future class and preschool teachers. Hence, it is extremely important to investigate the individual factors that contribute to it. The aim of this research is to determine the contribution of personality traits, self-esteem and the locus of control in predicting the degree of subjective well-being in future class and preschool teachers. The sample included 418 students. The following instruments were used in the research: the Short Subjective Well-being Scale (KSB), the Big Five Plus Two questionnaire (VP+2), Rosenberg?s Self-Esteem Scale and the Scale for Measuring the Locus of Control (LO K IM-2). The results indicate that all three investigated categories of individual factors significantly predict the affective (64% of variance explained) and cognitive component (51% of variance explained) of subjective wellbeing, whereby personality traits proved to be the most important predictors. Neuroticism and extraversion contribute most to positive affectivity (N?=-0,801; E?=- 0,794) and a positive attitude towards life (N?=-0,701; E?=-0,736). The educational implications refer to the possibilities of encouraging and developing those individual personality traits that significantly contribute to subjective well-being of future class and preschool teachers. In this way, we can also contribute to their mental health, which is the necessary precondition of the accomplishment of educational work.

The present study was designed to examine the role of boredom, perceived mental workload, and perceived control in vigilance. Subjective estimates of boredom and mental workload were measured before and after a 40 minute vigil during which movements of a computer mouse were monitored. In addition, subjects were administered Rotter's (1966) locus of control inventory. Subjects who made progressively more movements over time reported the highest levels of boredom and workload. In addition, the subjects with the highest performance levels were the most cautious in their responding, had an internal locus of control, and tended to experience less frustration. Significant, positive correlations were also observed between the boredom and workload scores suggesting that boredom may be an important contributor to mental workload in sustained attention.

Abstract:
The study referred to the theory of planned behaviour in determining how the selected factors (innovativeness, proactive personality, need of achievement, internal locus of control, risk-taking propensity, lifestyle integration, social networking, resource and opportunity recognition, attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control) influenced the entrepreneurial intentions and pre-start-up behaviour among the Asnaf millennials in Malaysia. This study collected cross-sectional survey data, which are quantitative data from 310 randomly selected Asnaf millennials from Kelantan, Malaysia using structured interviews. This study used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling PLS-SEM to analyse the data. The result confirmed the indirect influence (entrepreneurial intention) of attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control on the pre-start-up behaviour. Findings revealed that all antecedents have a positive and statistically significant effect on attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control, with an exception to risk-taking propensity. Hence, it is suggested that development programs and policies should enhance the innovativeness and opportunity recognition competency, provide access to working capital, and build a platform to promote entrepreneurial networking in increasing entrepreneurial intention among the low-income Asnaf millennials in Malaysia.

Abstract:
Background: Self rated health is a widely used measure in behavioural epidemiological studies which is a global, informative indicator of health status and quality of life. Aim: The main goal of the present study was to examine the relationship between subjective health status of adolescents with individual, psychological protective and risk factors. Method: The authors performed the study among youth in Szeged, Hungary in the autumn of 2010. Data collection was based on self-administered questionnaires. 656 high school students were included in the sample. Logistic regression analyses were applied to detect associations including the individual, psychological indicators as dependent variables and self perceived health as an independent variable. Results: It was found that adolescents with better self perceived health had higher scale points of optimism and satisfaction with life, whereas lower self rated health correlated with higher values of depression and emotional aggression. There were gender differences in both protective and risk factors. Internal locus of control was a protective factor while depression, emotional aggression, and external locus of control were risk factors of psychological health among girls. Conclusion: Self rated health can be a possible indicator of subjective well-being that may open a way to prevention in behavioural medicine. Orv. Hetil., 2012, 153, 1875–1882.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of factors that determine the students’ ageism attitudes, as well as their perception of the image “I am the old”. Aim. To investigate the connection between ageism attitudes with the indicators of conformism and control locus. Materials and methods. Sample: 100 students of the Faculty of Psychology, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (specialty “social pedagogy” and “social work”). Toolkit: Leary interpersonal communication skills test, The level of empathy test (I. Yusupov), Big-5 personality questionnaire, The locus of control test (J. Rotter), Questionnaire of ageism attitudes (E. Krainikov). Results. Younger youths are more conformal and less empathic than older youths. Regarding the openness to the new experience, there were no significant differences between the respondents of both groups. Older youths are characterized by internal control locus comparing to younger youths. In addition, older youths have more positive and objective view to aging and old age. On the contrary, younger youths are more biased towards aging and old age. Conclusions. The low level of conformism contributes to the formation of positive ageism attitudes, with the relative adoption of the image “I am the old”; the average level of conformism contributes to a balanced approach to aging and old age; a high level of conformism contributes to the formation of a negative ageism attitudes, testifies to the rejection of the image “I am the old”. Also, the ageism attitudes are affected by the level of subjective control. The internal control locus correlates with more positive ageism attitudes. Youth associates with a decrease in the level of conformism and increased control of the internal locus; therefore, older youths show more positive ageism attitudes and are likely to adopt the image “I am the old”.

Abstract:
AbstractRelatively little is known about the influence of patients' personality features on the responses they make to self-assessment items used to measure the outcome of a hearing aid fitting. If the personality of the hearing aid wearer has a significant influence on self-report outcome data, it would be important to explore the relevant personality variables and to be cognizant of their effects when using subjective outcome data to justify decisions about clinical services or other matters. This investigation explored the relationship between several personality attributes and responses to the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB). It found that more extroverted patients tend to report more hearing aid benefit in all speech communication situations. In addition, patients with a more external locus of control tend to have more negative reactions to loud environmental sounds, both with and without amplification. Anxiety also played a small additional role in determining APHAB responses. Although personality variables were found to explain a relatively small amount of the variance in APHAB responses (usually around 10%), these outcomes should alert practitioners and researchers to the potential effects of personality variables in all self-report data. Abbreviations: ANX = anxiety; APHAB = Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit; AV = APHAB subscale Aversiveness; BN = APHAB subscale Background Noise; EC = APHAB subscale Ease of Communication; EIP = extroversion-introversion preference; MBTI = Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; PO = belief in powerful others; RV = APHAB subscale Reverberation; Self = belief in internal control; SRT = speech reception threshold; STAI = State-Trait Anxiety Inventory

PurposeThis study analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the consumption of locally produced food. In particular, it examines an extended model of the theory of planned behavior, with the addition of the perceived risk of becoming infected with the disease, locavorism and internal locus of control.Design/methodology/approachThe study employs data collected from an online panel of consumers from the five largest cities in Spain (n = 1,000). It uses partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to test and validate the proposed theoretical model.FindingsThe results indicate that the perceived risk of COVID-19 drives consumers to embrace locavorism more and, although locavorism is a strong predictor of attitude, internal locus of control also has a strong impact on attitude and switching intentions. Subjective norm and attitude are strong predictors of switching intentions and purchase intentions, and switching intentions also have a powerful impact on purchase intentions.Originality/valueThis study extends previous research on locally produced food consumption in that it has proposed and tested a new conceptual model with the inclusion of the perceived risk of COVID-19, locavorism, internal locus of control and switching intentions, which were found to have an influence on purchasing behavior.

Abstract:
In-depth study of criterial characteristics of the level of subjective control, establishment of the leading tendencies of their changes in the dynamics of the time of training, the implementation of clearly defined features of the organization of the educational process of comparative evaluation of the tendencies of the changes, depending on the type of institution of education, how to determine the individual features of the location of the locus of subjective control in accordance with the nature of the course of situations caused by the influence of educationally significant factors, and to predict the changes in the stereotype of educationally-determined actions that will take place in the future. The purpose of the work is to carry out a comprehensive physiological and hygienic assessment of the indicators of the level of subjective control of the personality of pupils and students of modern educational institutions of different types. The research, which included the definition of indicators of the level of subjective control of pupil and student youth (300 pupils and students), based on the use of the personal questionnaire of Rotter, was conducted on the basis of five educational institutions in Ivano-Frankivsk. The prognostic evaluation of the data obtained involves the use of descriptive statistics procedures using the licensed standardized application package of multivariate statistical analysis “Statistica 6.1 for Windows” (license number ВXXR901E245722FA). The results of the conducted research testify to the significant advantage among pupils and students of modern educational institutions of various types of external manifestations in the personal sphere. In assessing the indicators of the level of subjective control of the identity of pupils and students of educational institutions of various types, it should be noted their extremely stable character, with the lowest degree of expression was inherent in indicators of the level of subjective control over the characteristics of the general internality, as well as in the field of educational relations and in sectors of failures. In most cases were no gender-related differences (p(t)b-g>0.05) and statistically significant differences between representatives of individual educational institutions (p(t)>0.05). It should also be noted that during the entire observation period, significantly higher values of the level of subjective control in the field of failures was in young men in all educational institutions that were subject to study were noted. The given data should be further considered as diagnostic (development of methods for the integrated assessment of the state of adaptive resources of the body of boys and girls), as well as in the preventive (introduction of effective health-saving technologies and measures of psychophysiological effects on the body and psycho-hygienic correction of existing changes in the functional state of the organism) sense.

Abstract:
The paper presents two studies aimed at development and validation of a scale of alienation in educational context. The first study using samples of university students (N = 395) and high school students (N = 194) involves structural validation of Subjective Alienation Questionnaire for Students using confirmatory factor analysis. The scales of the questionnaire have shown acceptable internal consistency (α = 0,70–0,92) and predictable associations with measures of subjective and psychological well-being, locus of control, life meaning, generalized self-efficacy, and hardiness. The second study using a sample of university students (N = 152) focused on the associations of alienation, burnout, and academic motivation with learning environment characteristics, well-being, and self-reported academic achievement. According to the resulting model, learning motivation and alienation reflect characteristics of relation of the student to the object of learning, whereas burnout reflects the resulting characteristics of learning process. Burnout was predicted by excessive difficulty of learning tasks, high workload, and alienation. Alienation was predicted by low teacher support, low clarity of learning requirements, and lack of choice in studies.
