Abstract:

Abstract:
Weber’s concept of “vocation” in science implies “anti-monumentalism”: research can always be continued, and the results obtained can be used in various ways. The scientist cannot be completely aware of the final impact of their work, so they are faced with a paradox of consequences. This paradox is based on value polytheism, a concept put forward by Weber. There are two ideas central to polytheism: first, one must recognize the internal logic of value spheres and, second, one must consider their fundamental incommensurability. But how does this idea emerge in Weber’s theory? Interpretations of value polytheism as a “fact” of a cultural situation and as the logical foundation of science do not allow one to answer the question of its origin. The conceptual bridge is found in Weber’s sociology of religion. Tenbruck’s, Schluchter’s, and Hennis’s models are examined to identify variations of value polytheism. However, their macro-orientation does not demonstrate the internal structure and functioning of polytheism. The present paper explicates the logical-methodological foundations of Weber’s scientific programme to clarify these points. Primarily, it investigates the problem of the consequences of an action carried out in a “vocation” mode and the boundaries of “adequate” causal explanations as presented in Weber’s works. It makes it possible to consider Weber’s value polytheism and concepts associated with it not as value metaphysics or unreasonable axioms, but as a methodologically based conceptual apparatus.

Abstract:
For the first time, the article “Creativity in Science” by Jan Łukasiewicz, a well-known representative of the Lviv-Warsaw School, logician and methodologist of science, was translated into Ukrainian. A well-known logician refutes the thesis that sciences exist only to reproduce facts and establish truths based on them. Sciences exist to meet the intellectual needs of man, which are manifested in his desire to understand. Reasoning is a creative act that includes demonstration, deduction, affirmation and understanding, as well as creation of hypotheses. Scientific creativity consists in the formulation of constructive judgments, which are combined into certain syntheses, which can be called theories. They become scientific only when there are combined with logical relations of entailment and inference.

Abstract:
What is an axiom? The meaning of the term ‘axiom’ varies between different fields of study. In philosophy it means a statement that is accepted without argument, while in physics the term ‘postulate’ is used and it means a theory that was verified in an experiment, and will be considered as true unless it is disproved by other experiments. In mathematics the notion of ‘axiom’ is used in two related but distinguishable meanings: ‘logical axioms’ and ‘non-logical axioms’. Logical axioms are certain statements that are always true, and from them all tautologies of the language can be derived. Non-logical axioms are statements that are taken to be true, to serve as a premise or starting point for further reasoning and arguments.

Fifty-eight years ago Max Scheler, one of the founders of modern philosophical anthropology, wrote: “Man is more of a problem to himself at the present time than ever before in all recorded history. ... the increasing multiplicity of the special sciences that deal with man, valuable as they are, tend to hide his nature more than they reveal it.”1 In 1944, some sixteen years later, Ernst Cassirer comments that even though “no former age was ever in such a favorable position with regard to the sources of our knowledge of human nature,” we are still looking for a clue which will provide “real insight into the general character of human culture.”2 In his famous 1958 book, Irrational Man,3 William Barrett looked to existentialism to recover the whole and integral, suffering and dying human being from the abstract image of humankind as logical operators dominant in modern philosophy. However, in a new book William Barrett concludes that the concrete human self was not in fact recovered in existentialism and laments its disappearance in modern thought. He talks of the Death of the Soul.4 I would add: and Elimination of the Body.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of methods for solving systems of multivalued logical equations by iteration methods. Iterative methods for solving such systems of equations are a mathematical description of the main process of functional-logical simulation, which is used at the stage of designing digital systems for objects control to verify the correctness of the design. Consideration of multi-valued values of logical signals at the outputs of blocks and elements of digital systems is explained by the fact that in some cases, to analyze the correctness of time relationships when simulating the hardware of digital systems, a several valued representation of logical signals is used, as well as that recently, logical elements are being developed that implement four or more valued logic. Based on the analysis of the structure of the system of logical equations used in digital hardware simulation, using graph and logical models, an analysis is made of the existence of solutions and their number. Iterative methods of a simple and generalized iteration are analyzed, a relationship is shown between the number of solutions of the system of equations and its graph representation, which reflects a given circuit of connecting elements of the hardware of a digital control system. For the generalized iteration method, options with a different structure of the iteration trace are considered, in particular, it is shown that, with a certain structure of the iteration trace, the generalized iteration turns into a simple iteration or Seidel iteration. It is shown that the generalized iteration most adequately describes the process of simulating the switching of logical signals in a simulated circuit of digital control systems hardware. The correspondence between various options of functional-logical simulation of digital systems and the used methods of iterative solution of systems of logical equations is shown.

Abstract:
Max-plus algebra is a special method to describe the discrete event system. In this paper, it is introduced to describe the motion of lower limb exoskeleton. Based on the max-plus algebra and the timed event graph, the walking process of exoskeleton is modelled. The max-plus algebra approach can describe the logical sequence and safety condition in the walking process, which cannot be achieved via other conventional modelling approaches. The autonomous control of lower limb exoskeleton system is studied via the model based on max-plus algebra. In the end, an FSM (finite state machine) controller embedded with the max-plus algebra model is proposed, and the experiments show ideal speed and gait/phase period control effect, as well as the good safety and stable performance.

Abstract:
Recognition of natural stimuli requires a combination of selectivity and invariance. Classical neurobiological models achieve selectivity and invariance, respectively, by assigning to each cortical neuron either a computation equivalent to the logical “AND” or a computation equivalent to the logical “OR.” One powerful OR-like operation is the MAX function, which computes the maximum over input activities. The MAX function is frequently employed in computer vision to achieve invariance and considered a key operation in visual cortex. Here we explore the computations for selectivity and invariance in the auditory system of a songbird, using natural stimuli. We ask two related questions: does the MAX operation exist in auditory system? Is it implemented by specialized “MAX” neurons, as assumed in vision? By analyzing responses of individual neurons to combinations of stimuli we systematically sample the space of implemented feature recombination functions. Although we frequently observe the MAX function, we show that the same neurons that implement it also readily implement other operations, including the AND-like response. We then show that sensory adaptation, a ubiquitous property of neural circuits, causes transitions between these operations in individual neurons, violating the fixed neuron-to-computation mapping posited in the state-of-the-art object-recognition models. These transitions, however, accord with predictions of neural-circuit models incorporating divisive normalization and variable polynomial nonlinearities at the spike threshold. Because these biophysical properties are not tied to a particular sensory modality but are generic, the flexible neuron-to-computation mapping demonstrated in this study in the auditory system is likely a general property.

Abstract:
A method for synthesizing quantum gates is presented based on interpolation methods applied to operators in Hilbert space. Starting from the diagonal forms of specific generating seed operators with non-degenerate eigenvalue spectrum one obtains for arity-one a complete family of logical operators corresponding to all the one-argument logical connectives. Scaling-up to n-arity gates is obtained by using the Kronecker product and unitary transformations. The quantum version of the Fourier transform of Boolean functions is presented and a Reed-Muller decomposition for quantum logical gates is derived. The common control gates can be easily obtained by considering the logical correspondence between the control logic operator and the binary logic operator. A new polynomial and exponential formulation of the Toffoli gate is presented. The method has parallels to quantum gate-T optimization methods using powers of multilinear operator polynomials. The method is then applied naturally to alphabets greater than two for multi-valued logical gates used for quantum Fourier transform, min-max decision circuits and multivalued adders.

Abstract:
The result of action of the matched linear filters that are optimal for detection of given signals is maximization of the signal-to-noise ratio [Formula: see text], where PS max is the peak power of the signal, and [Formula: see text] is the average power of a noise. However, maximization of SNR, as a fraction, is obtained formally by the ratio [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is the average power of the signal. PN min is the minimum, in a certain sense, the power of the noise. When n coherent pulses are processed, it is proposed to suppose that PN min is the minimum instantaneous power of available noise powers. In this case, the processing scheme represents the selector that constantly chooses the voltage with the minimum noise instantaneous power and transmits it to output. As shown in the paper, it is possible to perform this selection with acceptable accuracy and to improve SNR and, hence, probabilistic characteristics of detection in comparison with addition of coherent pulses. This improvement is obtained by using the adder input noises when their instantaneous powers are less than the instantaneous power of the adder output noise.

We investigate the properties of additive consistent intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations (IFPR). Usually, consistency in fuzzy preference relations (FPR) is associated with transitivity such as general transitivity, weak transitivity, and restricted max–max transitivity. This paper extends the consistency properties of the FPR to those of the IFPR. Since weak transitivity is the minimal logical requirement and a fundamental principle of human judgment, this paper develops three determination theorems and the corresponding algorithms to judge the weak transitivity of an IFPR from different angles. Two numerical examples show that the three methods proposed are feasible and effective.

Abstract:
Lattice structures of fuzzy flip-flops are described. A binary flip-flop (e.g. D, T, set-type SR, or reset-type SR flip-flop) can be extended to a fuzzy flip-flop in various ways. Under max-min fuzzy logic, there are 4 types of D fuzzy flip-flops extended from a binary D flip-flop, 136 types of SR fuzzy flip-flops extended from a binary SR flip-flop, and only one T fuzzy flip-flop. There is a lattice structure among different types of fuzzy flip-flops extended from a same binary flip-flop in terms of the order of ambiguity and the order of fuzzy logical value. These results show that fuzzy flip-flops under max-min fuzzy logic construct distributive lattice structures. Moreover D and T fuzzy flip-flops constructs Boolean lattice. And there exists a order monotone between two lattices of same fuzzy flip-flop under the order of ambiguity and the order of fuzzy logical value. Proposed analysis and results have potential to establish a fuzzy sequential system design method.

By being able to evaluate the entrepreneurial ability of the business owner and the quality of the management team, we can smoothly transition to the analysis of corporate culture as a whole, adding the components of value transmission to our evaluation.

Abstract:

I examine the basic logical character of ‘the last man example’, as well as the logical character of one of its more important variants. Although it has one striking antecedent in recent philosophy – of which more later – it’s fair to regard it as an example first presented to a contemporary audience by Richard Routley in his 1973 paper, ‘Is There a Need for a New, an Environmental, Ethic?’. I want to determine exactly how the example goes and what it shows. I want to determine what it does not show. One reason for engaging in this exercise is the striking and engaging character of the last man example itself. Another is that a large number of environmental philosophers have since referred to the last man but have drawn different, sometimes contrary, lessons from it – though we won’t have time here to visit any but the earliest of these responses. It seems to me time to patiently revisit the example and time to attempt a conclusive understanding of its significance. A second, and broader, purpose I have is to describe the meta-ethical views it led Routley to adopt – or manufacture! – in an attempt to philosophically position his normative stance within a more fundamental, explanatory, framework.

Abstract:
This paper addresses mathematical aspects of fuzzy logic. The main results obtained in this paper are: 1. the introduction of a concept of normal form in fuzzy logic using hedges; 2. using Kolmogorov’s theorem, we prove that all logical operations in fuzzy logic have normal forms; 3. for min-max operators, we obtain an approximation result similar to the universal approximation property of neural networks.

Abstract:
This paper presents some aspects of walking machine design with a special emphasis on the three machines MAX, MORITZ and JOHNNIE, having been developed at the Technical University of Munich within the last 20 years. The design of such machines is discussed as an iterative process improving the layout with every iteration. The control concepts are event-driven and follow logical rules, which have largely been transferred from neurobiological findings. At least for the six-legged machine MAX, a nearly perfect autonomy could be achieved, whereas for the biped JOHNNIE, a certain degree of autonomy could be realized by a vision system with appropriate decision algorithms. This vision system was developed by the group of Prof. G. Schmidt, TU-München. A more detailed description of the design and realization is presented for the biped JOHNNIE.

Abstract:
The article aims to clarify the basic laws of logic and show their application in the Gospel. The content of selected fragments of the Gospel proves that it contains fundamental laws of rational thinking in the form of: the law of identity, the law of non-contradiction, the law of the excluded middle, the law of sufficient reason, the law of finality. The statements and teachings of Jesus Christ are not without logical principles, which man already applies in everyday thinking. The source of this kind of laws is real existence. The so-called the first principles that govern the existence of being, in the order of knowledge, become the laws of thinking. For the message of revelation to be understood and accepted by the person to whom it is addressed, the laws of thought must exist in the Gospel.

Abstract:
D, T, and SR fuzzy flip-flops are proposed and their characteristics are shown in four - max-min, algebraic, bounded, drastic - logical operation systems. The circuits of the proposed flip-flops are designed and simulated on a Synopsys circuit simulator. The result of synthesis show the areas of D, T, SR fuzzy flip-flops are nearly 0, 2/3 1/2 of that of conventional JK fuzzy flip-flops and the delay times of D, T, SR fuzzy flip-flops are nearly 0, 2/3, 2/3 of that of the JK type. Moreover, max-min fuzzy memory element based on functions required for memory is proposed independently of fuzzy flip-flops. As it uses 1/2 circuit area of the SR fuzzy flip-flops, it is more suitable for fuzzy memory element than other fuzzy flipflops.

Abstract:
Adverse reproductive outcome before term is a polyetiological pathology associated with demographic crisis. Some adverse outcomes include perinatal and neonatal infant mortality, major morbidity and mortality of children under two years, violation of psychomotor and physical development, cognitive disturbances and disability of children under age five. Finding ways to solve these issues remain a priority. The research involved two female groups. The experimental group included 403 women after the involuntary termination of pregnancy, premature birth or in case of threat of miscarriage; the control group included 402 women with physiological course of pregnancy and parturient with full-term pregnancy. The study required the application of systemic approaches and methods including structural, logical, medical and statistical analyses. The survey revealed more than 20 infectious risk factors and more than 70 factors of extragenital origin. The most significant infectious pathologies included COVID-19 (36.23 ± 2.29% and 14.93 ± 1.78%), herpes type 1 (5.96 ± 1.18% and 1.0 ± 0.50%), toxoplasmosis (4.22 ± 1.0% and 1.0 ± 0.50%) and chlamydial infection (4.22 ± 1.0% 0.50 ± 0.35%) in the experimental and control groups, respectively (P < 0.01). The most significant extragenital pathologies involved autoimmune thyroiditis (8.68 ± 1.40% and 0.75 ± 0.43%), type 1 diabetes mellitus (2.23 ± 0.74% and 0%) and allergic rhinitis/sinusitis (3.97 ± 0.97% and 0.50 ± 0.35%) in the experimental and control groups, respectively (P < 0.01). Obtained results will be used in the development of a personified risk-oriented model for the prevention of preterm pregnancy loss. Abstract:
Abstract Roman Suszko said that “Obviously, any multiplication of logical values is a mad idea and, in fact, Łukasiewicz did not actualize it.” The aim of the present paper is to qualify this ‘obvious’ statement through a number of logical and philosophical writings by Professor Jan Woleński, all focusing on the nature of truth-values and their multiple uses in philosophy. It results in a reconstruction of such an abstract object, doing justice to what Suszko held a ‘mad’ project within a generalized logic of judgments. Four main issues raised by Woleński will be considered to test the insightfulness of such generalized truth-values, namely: the principle of bivalence, the logic of scepticism, the coherence theory of truth, and nothingness.
