Diploma work focuses on the application of logistics in a real manufacturing enterprise. Theoretical chapters define terms like logistics, logistic chain and describe individual segments in the logistic chain from developing, purchasing, manufacturing process to warehousing and distribution. Company Indoorcycling Group is introduced in the third chapter. The company deals with production of stationary bicycles and their accessories. After the characterization of the company, individual logistic processes are analyzed. According to detection of problems in the logistic chain, various solutions for the optimalization are suggested.

Globalioje ir sparčiai besivystančioje rinkoje, kur greitis tampa esminiu sekmės veiksniu, efektyviai konkuruoti gali tik tie, kas sugeba reikiamą tiekiamos produkcijos kiekį pateikti vietoje ir laiku. Kaip užtikrinti šio proceso sklandumą, o kartu ir viso verslo efektyvumą, kai susiduri su problemomis darbo rinkoje, esi priklausomas nuo daugelio kitų grandies dalyvių? Tiriant ir analizuojant UAB „Riminta“ logistinę sampratą, praktiškai numatyti kuria kryptimi turi vykti veikla, kad ji normaliai funkcionuotų ir atitiktų jai keliamus reikalavimus. Tyrimas rodo, kad turi būti vykdoma tarptautinio krovinių vežimo, ekspedijavimo ir ta veikla kuri reikalauja produktą nuvežti galutiniam vartotojui. Mokslinė literatūra leidžia teigti, kad kuriamos UAB „Riminta“ logistikos sistemos tikslas yra mažinti išlaidas ir transporto kaštus bei didinti įmonės pelną.
Logistics – one of the basic functions in business field. In global and rapidly developing market, where the speed becomes essential element of success, to compete effectively can only those who manage to deliver proper amount of production outright and on time. How to make certain the articulateness of this process along with the efficiency of the whole business when you face the problems in labour market and you are dependent on the many other link members? Exploring and analizing the logistic conception of UAB “Riminta”, it is necessary to foresee practically which direction should the activity move that it operate normally and met the requirements. The analysis show that international transportation, expedition and the activity which requires to deliver the product to the final purchaser is necessary to be filled. Science literature allows to state that the objective of the UAB “Riminta” developing logistics system is to reduce the expenses and the cost of transport and to increase the company’s profit.

This thesis deals with material management.in CzechPak manufacturing plant. The main aim of the thesis is to analyse the current situation of logistics at CzechPak Manufacturing and propose changes to ease material management. Further aim is to point out key materials and suppliers. The thesis introduces the plant targets and postion of logistic targets within the plant strategy. In this thesis food industry features are specified with regards to logistic processes. The thesis gives proposals for process and system changes in material management with taking advantages of SAP system. In this thesis ABC analysis is applied on materials in CzechPak Manufacturing to indicate key materials and propose supplies optimization.

Uma gestão eficaz da cadeia de negócio do gás natural com logística de transporte por gasodutos, considerando os principais agentes, como Carregador, Produtor, Transportador e Distribuidor, requer a utilização de tecnologia de informação e sistemas de suporte à decisão. Este trabalho apresenta um Sistema de Gestão de Logística de Transporte de Gás Natural por Gasodutos - SGLT, composto de módulos ou subsistemas integrados que propiciam maximizar a comercialização do gás natural e mitigar a ocorrência de perdas de receitas e multas contratuais devido a contingências que podem gerar falha de entrega do gás natural ao Distribuidor. Permite também avaliar o nível ótimo econômico de confiabilidade que deve ser mantido pelo Transportador, através da implantação de redundâncias, para mitigar sua exposição aos riscos de perdas de receitas e multas contratuais por parte dos agentes envolvidos na cadeia do negócio de gás natural. O sistema proposto é fundamentado na simulação Monte Carlo de falhas de equipamentos da malha de gasodutos de transporte e de restrições de oferta e demanda de gás natural, bem como os fechamentos acidentais de válvulas de bloqueio de gasodutos e de falhas nos pontos de entrega de gás natural de modo a quantificar seus impactos na Cadeia do Negócio do Gás Natural. O sistema proposto é constituído de (i) um Sistema de Informação Geográfico - SIG, (ii) um modelo de dados de gasodutos (Arc Pipeline Data Model - APDM), (iii) um simulador termo-hidráulico de escoamento de gás por dutos em regime permanente e transiente - Pipeline Studio 3.0, (iv) uma base de dados dos resultados das simulações termohidráulicas, (v) um modelo de simulação Monte Carlo para avaliação da confiabilidade do sistema de transporte utilizando o software @Risk 4.5, (vi) um modelo econômico com simulação Monte Carlo utilizando o software @Risk 4.5 e (vii) um otimizador, baseado em programação linear, para maximização da comercialização de gás e para minimização de perdas de receitas e multas contratuais devido a cortes de fornecimento de gás decorrentes de situações contingenciais. Este trabalho permitiu identificar, quantificar e justificar economicamente a implantação de unidades compressoras reservas nas estações de compressão do Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil, e aumentar a disponibilidade do sistema de compressão, reduzindo acentuadamente a exposição do Transportador a perdas de receita e penalidades contratuais por redução de capacidade de transporte decorrentes da entrada em manutenção de unidades compressoras e de falhas não-programadas de tais equipamentos. Foram também identificadas e quantificadas as falhas de válvulas de bloqueio de gasoduto e das estações de entrega de gás, não cabendo, nestes casos, a implantação de redundância.
An efficient management of the natural gas business chain, based on pipeline transmission network and taking into consideration the interaction between the main players such as Shippers, Suppliers, Transmission Companies and Local Distribution Companies, requires the use of information technology and decision-making support systems. This work presents a Natural Gas Logistic Transportation Management System, composed of integrated modules or subsystems that allow maximizing natural gas commercialization and allow mitigating revenue losses and contractual penalties due to contingencies that may cause failures in gas delivery to Local Distribution Companies. The proposed system also allow evaluating the optimum economic level of availability to be maintained by the Transmission Company by using stand-by equipment to mitigate its risk exposures to revenue losses and contractual penalties from the agents of the natural gas chain. The proposed system is based on Monte Carlo simulation of equipment failures of the gas transmission network, on the supply/delivery unexpected shortfalls, unexpected block valves closing and failures on the city-gates in order to quantify their impact on the natural gas business chain. The proposed system is made of (i) a geographic information system - GIS, (ii) a pipeline data model (Arc Pipeline Data Model - APDM), (iii) a gas pipeline thermo-hydraulic simulation for steady and transient states - Pipeline Studio 3.0, (iv) a data base of thermohydraulic simulation results and (v) a Monte Carlo simulation model to evaluate the reliability of the transmission system by using @Risk 4.5 and (vi) an economic model with Monte Carlo simulation using @Risk 4.5 and (vii) an optimizer, based on linear programming, for gas commercialization maximization and minimization of revenue losses and contractual penalties for not delivering the gas volumes at the contracted level. This work has identified, quantified and proved feasible the installation of stand-by compressor units at the Bolivia-Brail Gas Pipeline compressor stations and therefore improved the transmission system availability. As a direct benefit has reduced the Transmission Company risk exposure to revenue losses and contractual penalties due to reduction of pipeline transmission capacity as consequence of compressor units scheduled and nonscheduled outages. Failures of pipeline block valves and city-gates have also been identified and quantified but redundancy improvements were not required.

Abstract:
PLAS is a cloud-based software used for planning and scheduling fleets of vehicles for material transport. PLAS consists of two components; the Logistic Flow Solver (LFS) and the Material Transport Scheduler (MTS). Based on transportation requests, the LFS generates a set of logistic flows. The MTS then transforms the logistic flows into tasks that are assigned to the vehicles. The LFS is implemented with Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). Currently, the LFS and the MTS are decoupled from each other and there is information that is not considered in the LFS. Thus, the choice of logistic flows generated with the current formulation may negatively impact the final transport plan. The objective of this thesis is to investigate how the generation of logistic flows can be improved. Two alternative mathematical models for the LFS were developed using MILP formulation. Compared to the current model, more information is taken into account in the two new models. Three different objective functions were considered. Scheduling of the vehicles were modelled as pickup and delivery problems, where pickup and delivery pairs correspond to the generated logistic flows. The models were implemented using Google OR-Tools, an open-source software suite for optimization. The different mathematical formulations were evaluated based on their performance for test problems with different fleet compositions. The results show that problem characteristics influence the performance of the models and that there is no model that gives the best result for every type of problem. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse problem characteristics in order to choose a suitable model for generation of logistic flows.
PLAS är en molnbaserad mjukvara som används för planering och schemaläggning av fordonsflottor för materialtransport. PLAS består av två komponenter; Logistic Flow Solver (LFS) and Material Transport Scheduler (MTS). Baserat på transportbehov genererar LFS ett antal logistikflöden. MTS omvandlar sedan logistikflödena till uppdrag som är tilldelade till fordonen. LFS är implementerad med blandad heltalsprogrammering. För närvarande är LFS och MTS frikopplade från varandra och det finns information som inte tas hänsyn till i LFS. Därför kan valet av logistikflöden genererade med den nuvarande formuleringen negativt påverka den slutliga transportplanen. Målet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka hur genereringen av logistikflöden kan förbättras. Två alternativa matematiska modeller utvecklades med MILP-formulering. Jämfört med den nuvarande modellen, tar de två nya modellerna hänsyn till mer information. Tre olika målfunktioner beaktades. Modellerna implementerades med Google OR-Tools, en öppen programvara för optimering. De matematiska formuleringarna utvärderades baserat på deras prestation på testproblem med olika kompositioner av fordonsflottor. Resultaten visar att problemegenskaper påverkar modellernas prestationer och att det inte finns någon modell som ger bäst resultat för varje problemtyp. Därför är det nödvändigt att analysera problemegenskaper för att kunna välja en lämplig modell för generering av logistikflöden.

Analytics is the technology working with the manipulation of data to produce information able to change the world we live every day. Analytics have been largely used within the last decade to cluster people’s behaviour to predict their preferences of items to buy, music to listen, movies to watch and even electoral preference. The most advanced companies succeded in controlling people’s behaviour using analytics. Despite the evidence of the super-power of analytics, they are rarely applied to the big data collected within supply chain systems (i.e. distribution network, storage systems and production plants). This PhD thesis explores the fourth research paradigm (i.e. the generation of knowledge from data) applied to supply chain system design and operations management. An ontology defining the entities and the metrics of supply chain systems is used to design data structures for data collection in supply chain systems. The consistency of this data is provided by mathematical demonstrations inspired by the factory physics theory. The availability, quantity and quality of the data within these data structures define different decision patterns. Ten decision patterns are identified, and validated on-field, to address ten different class of design and control problems in the field of supply chain systems research.

This diploma thesis is aimed on problems of supply chain management with selected assortment. It is focused on particular ways of supply management with fresh meat, on the flow of goods from producer to final customer and analyze the impact on key performance indicators pursued by a company. In the first three parts of the thesis is described the logistics systém in Ahold Czech Republic. In the following part of the thesis, supply chain of selected assortment is analyzed in this particular company and also how it is defined in the logistics theory. It is followed by detailed analysis of the new logistic system which was proposed to launch, including the definition of critical points. Final part of this diploma thesis is devoted to summary of expected benefits and costs and to evaluation of this new logistics system according to actual results.

Questo progetto di tesi, svolto in collaborazione con l’azienda “Sitma Machinery” di Spilamberto e sviluppato all’interno del laboratorio industriale di ricerca “LIAM LAB”, ha come obiettivo lo sviluppo di un modello di simulazione tramite l’utilizzo di software basato su un motore ad eventi discreti. In particolare sono stati studiati due software: “Plant Simulation” ed un toolbox di “Matlab” chiamato “SimEvents”. E’ stato sviluppato un primo semplice progetto in entrambi gli ambienti di simulazione per valutare e confrontare le caratteristiche e le performance di entrambi i software. Fin da subito Plant Simulation si è rivelato più adatto per il tipo di studio necessario ed inoltre fornisce una maggiore flessibilità nella programmazione. Successivamente è stato studiato e modellato un grande impianto per lo smistamento di pacchi in Plant Simulation. Questo secondo progetto consiste in un case study messo a disposizione da Sitma. L’utilizzo di un modello di simulazione durante le fasi di design dell’impianto è stato un aiuto di fondamentale importanza per l’azienda poiché è stato possibile dimensionare correttamente il layout e verificare se erano presenti eventuali errori di progettazione. Inoltre, grazie al supporto grafico che fornisce un modello di simulazione 3D, è stato possibile verificare il corretto funzionamento del sistema. In questa tesi verrà introdotto il tema del Virtual Commissioning centrato sulle simulazioni ad eventi discreti. Successivamente verranno analizzate e descritte le specifiche di due progetti di simulazione condotti durante il lavoro di tesi e i successivi risultati ottenuti. Per il secondo progetto di simulazione, non è possibile mostrare l’intero layout dell’impianto visto che si tratta di un progetto reale coperto da vincoli di riservatezza.

Abstract:
Forecasts of short term volcanic activity are generated using an event tree process that is driven by a set of empirical statistical models derived through logistic regression. Each of the logistic models are constructed from a sparse and geographically diverse dataset that was assembled from a collection of historic volcanic unrest episodes. The dataset consists of monitoring measurements (e.g. seismic), source modeling results, and historic eruption information. Incorporating this data into a single set of models provides a simple mechanism for simultaneously accounting for the geophysical changes occurring within the volcano and the historic behavior of analog volcanoes. A bootstrapping analysis of the training dataset allowed for the estimation of robust logistic model coefficients. Probabilities generated from the logistic models increase with positive modeling results, escalating seismicity, and high eruption frequency. The cross validation process produced a series of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves with areas ranging between 0.78 - 0.81, which indicate the algorithm has good predictive capabilities. In addition, ROC curves also allowed for the determination of a false positive rate and optimum detection threshold for each stage of the algorithm. The results demonstrate the logistic models are highly transportable and can compete with, and in some cases outperform, non-transportable empirical models trained with site specific information. The incorporation of source modeling results into the event tree's decision making process has begun the transition of volcano monitoring applications from simple mechanized pattern recognition algorithms to a physical model based forecasting system.

O conhecimento necessário para a construção de soluções de problemas de gestão logística ou da gestão de uma cadeia de suprimentos são interdisciplinares, envolvendo diferentes áreas como; geografia, informática, matemática, administração, entre outras. Assim, o processo de construção do conhecimento pelos aprendizes em logística torna-se um grande desafio, pois exige diferentes habilidades do aluno que primeiramente, precisa entender os assuntos de cada área de forma separada para poder integrá-los e iniciar a construção do conhecimento. Além do fator da interdisciplinaridade que complica o processo de aprendizado, os recentes avanços na área de computação e de algoritmos para solução de problemas em logística, tem causado um distanciamento dos profissionais entre as soluções disponíveis e a sua implementação prática. Nesse sentido, esta dissertação irá apresentar a implementação de soluções para problemas logísticos através da construção de ferramentas computacionais com fins didáticos desenvolvidas através da linguagem de programação Java que serão adicionadas como plugin ao software OpenJUMP.
The objective of this dissertation is to contribute to the teaching of logistics, through the construction of educational and free computational tools, added to a software like GIS - Geographic Information System, with free distribution, allowing the practical implementation of several important procedures for solving logistical problems by students, technicians and others interested in the logistics area for free. The knowledge required for the construction of solutions of problems of logistics management or the management of a supply chain , are interdisciplinary , involving different areas such as ; geography, computer science, mathematics, business administration, among others. Thus, the process of knowledge building by learners in logistics becomes a challenge because it requires different skills that the student first needs to understand the subjects of each area separately to be able to integrate them and begin construction of knowledge. Besides the factor of interdisciplinarity which becomes the learning process more complicate, recent advances in computing and algorithms to solve problems in logistics has caused a distancing of professionals from the available solutions and their practical implementation. In this sense, this dissertation will present the implementation of solutions to logistics problems through the construction of computational tools for didactic purposes developed through the Java programming language that will be added as plugin software to OpenJUMP.

The aim of this thesis is to provide to the governmental decision-maker/user, an instrument that can assist him/her in improving the infrastructure investment decision in the economical, environmental and sustainable aspects. This means that, the Return on Investment (ROI) of the concerned transport infrastructure, satisfying environmental and sustainable constraints must be positive, and corresponding to an optimal investment cost. The decision support system can be applied in two dimensions. One dimension is where the real negotiation process is occurring between private and public stakeholders, called “real time negotiation process”. The second dimension is where the negotiation process is impelled by the user (public part) without private stakeholders interaction (but with interaction through simulation), called “virtual negotiation process”. The simulation and local optimization techniques, in phase with agent technology, used in the “virtual negotiation process” enable us to achieve a certain amount of alternative decisions to the primary/suggested decision to be evaluated. The CommonKADS methodology with mathematical modeling, and agent technology have been the support respectively for extracting and implementing the knowledge in the domain, monitoring, automating and updating the decision process. The principle of “Joint logistic” [1] in my effort concerns by the means of sharing financial and information resources; This leads to the empowerment of the supply chain feedbacks (roles), involved in the earlier stages of public transport decision making-process. It appears that within the decision-making process, the government is often dealing with the conflicting objectives, while interacting with the business stakeholders. For instance, the estimated investment cost of a specific transport infrastructure can exceed the income generated by this infrastructure, thus the ROI of the concerned transport infrastructure (TI) will be negative. From this perspective the government faces three choices: a) increase the rate of the taxes applied on that transport infrastructure or any other taxes, in order to make ROI positive, this can be matter of discussion/disagreement for the business community b) reduce the investment cost which means suggest a different TI with a lower quality standard compared to the previous; this can also be a matter of disagreement between the two concerned stakeholders. c) delay of the investment in the specific transport infrastructure. In fact in the most situations the government uses the first approach, which effects might be consequently unpredictable and disastrous in the economical and environmental sense for the government. From this point of view my attempt is to propose an intelligent decision support system for governments or project groups (e.g. East West project group), involving conceptually as components web portal, database, simulator and knowledge base, that bases on an approach, that enables this negotiation/information exchange at the earlier steps of decision-making situation. This is concretized by gathering in real time accurate and relevant information from the private sector; furthermore the knowledgebase of the designed system is conceived via the experience and historical knowledge of the concerned experts in the domain.

Встановлено, що за рівнем інтегральної оцінки лідерами є Одеська, Дніпропетровська та Харківська області, а Чернівецька, Тернопільська та Луганська області аутсайдерами.
На основании статистических данных каждой области Украины по итогам 2016 и определенным набором показателей выявлены регионы лидеры и аутсайдеры по каждой составляющей логистического потенциала. Установлено, что по уровню интегральной оценки лидерами являются Одесская, Днепропетровская и Харьковская области, а Черновицкая, Тернопольская и Луганская области аутсайдерами.
Based on the statistics of each Ukrainian region in 2016 and a definite set of indicators, the regions identified leaders and outsiders for each component of the logistics potential. The demand for shorter lead-times and increased delivery reliability puts pressure on companies to provide more efficient logistic services. One strategy to deal with this demand is by outsourcing logistics to a third part. The development of logistics information systems enables increased control over business supply chains. This is why Green Cargo aims to create a Logistics Control Tower (LCT) solution to provide it’s customers with better information with higher availability. One such system is the Green Cargo control tower solution, which aims to improve information quality and availability alike. This is also the origin of this thesis at Green Cargo Division Logistics. The aim of this project was to identify the information needs in the logistic processes connected to Green Cargo Division Logistics, and to present a requirement specification for a LCT. The LCT will be designed to work as an information and decision support system. The main source of information was collected through interviews with customers of Green Cargo, as well as personnel at Green Cargo.

The research findings suggest that there is potential for improvement within the information flow between Green Cargo and the other parties involved in the logistic process. A need for improved information flows and communication became apparent through the investigation. We therefore suggest that Green Cargo develops a LCT containing functions such as cost follow-up, statistics, stock level information, order information, proof of delivery, track&trace, notification, environment information, and invoice control. Whilst some of these functions are yet to be introduced, others are basic functions already provided for by Green Cargo, but could nonetheless be improved. Most of the suggested functions are generated through the customers needs while invoice control and automated notification is a demand from Green Cargo personnel. A web interface with the possibility to adapt the content to different customers could serve as a solution to these needs. Input to the LCT is collected from different information systems such as vendor management systems and databases at logistic service providers.

Abstract:
The objective of this dissertation is to introduce a unified framework for modeling and simulating discrete event logistics systems (DELS) by using a formal language, the System Modeling Language (SysML), for conceptual modeling and a corresponding methodology for translating the conceptual model into a simulation model. There are three parts in this research: plant modeling, control modeling, and simulation generation. Part 1:Plant Modeling of Discrete Event Logistics Systems. Contemporary DELS are complex and challenging to design. One challenge is to describe the system in a formal language. We propose a unified framework for modeling DELS using SysML. A SysML subset for plant modeling is identified in this research. We show that any system can be described by using the proposed subset if the system can be modeled using finite state machines or finite state automata. Furthermore, the system modeled by the proposed subset can avoid the state explosion problem, i.e., the number of the system states grows exponentially when the number of the components increases. We also compare this approach to other existing modeling languages. Part 2:Control Modeling of Discrete Event Logistics Systems. The development of contemporary manufacturing control systems is an extremely complex process. One approach for modeling control systems uses activity diagrams from SysML, providing a standard object-oriented graphical notation and enhancing reusability. However, SysML activity diagrams do not directly support the kind of analysis needed to verify the control model, such as might be available with a Petri net (PN) model. We show that a control model represented by UML/SysML activity diagrams can be transformed into an equivalent PN, so the analysis capability of PN can be used and the results applied back in the activity diagram model. We define a formal mathematical notation for activity diagrams, show the mapping rules between PN and activity diagrams, and propose a formal transformation algorithm. Part 3:Discrete Event Simulation Generation. The challenge of cost-effectively creating discrete event simulation models is well-known. One approach to alleviate this issue is to describe a system using a descriptive modeling language and then transform the system model to a simulation model. Some researchers have tried to realize this idea using a transformation script. However, most of the transformation approaches depend on a domain specific language, so extending the domain specific language may require modifying the transformation script. We propose a transformation approach from SysML to a simulation language. We show that a transformation script can be independent of the associated domain specific language if the domain specific language is implemented as domain libraries using a proposed SysML subset. In this case, both the domain library and the system model can be transformed to a target simulation language. We demonstrate a proof-of-concept example using AnyLogic as the target simulation language.

Для аналітичного дослідження та розробки пропозицій в роботі використані логічний метод, графічний метод, методи економіко-математичного моделювання, метод логічного узагальнення та порівняльний. В роботі запропонована оптимізація адміністративних витрат і цінових умов на закупку палива, що дозволить отримати щорічну економію логістичних витрат в сумі 567535 гривень, що становить 12,2 % від чистого доходу компанії. Аналітичні дослідження дозволили розробити рекомендації щодо доцільності використання запропонованих заходів на підприємстві ТОВ «Паралель – М, ЛТД» . Об’єкт дослідження – логістична діяльність підприємства. Предмет дослідження – сукупність теоретичних, методичних і практичних підходів до організації ефективної логістичної діяльності ТОВ «Паралель – М, ЛТД».
Thesis consists of introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and recommendations, applications. The work is done in volume of 78 pages, contains 7 figures, 32 tables and 4 applications. The purpose of the work is to economically substantiate the directions of organization of effective logistic activity of LLC Parallel - M, LTD. For analytical research and development of proposals in the work logical method, graphical method, methods of economic-mathematical modeling, method of logical generalization and comparative method are used. The paper proposes optimization of administrative costs and price conditions for fuel purchases, which will allow to obtain annual savings in logistics costs in the amount of 567535 hryvnias, which is 12.2% of net income of the company. Analytical studies allowed to elaborate recommendations on the feasibility of using the proposed measures at the enterprise Paralel-M, LTD. The object of the research is the logistic activity of the enterprise. Subject of research - a set of theoretical, methodological and practical approaches to the organization of efficient logistics activities of LLC "Parallel - M, LTD".

In this thesis, we propose to use Monte Carlo (MC) simulation to assess maintenance down time (MDT), which cannot be assessed a priori by traditional MIL-STD-471 (or now MIL-HDBK-470), at the early design phase based on various maintainability and provisioning options. Also, by using MC, we can perform a more rigorous in-progress maintainability demonstration during the design reviews. By following the MC approach in the MDT assessment at the early design phase, we can study the cost item related to revenue loss a prior for a commercial system design. This thesis proposes the use of MC simulation to estimate the MDT and thus the downtime-orientated profit loss along with other LCC items at the early design phase. This extends the US military standards to provide an accurate overall picture of a commercial system life cycle aspect for both the manufacturer and the user in performing integrated logistic support design trade-off at the early design phase. In order to stress the importance of this cost item about profit loss and keep the original military LCC structure undisturbed, we append the profit loss to the LCC and make a new economic trade-off factor, the "life cycle revenue loss" (LCRL). This definition of LCRL is stressed from the point of view of the user's life time. With a simple three-module water-level-control system, we demonstrate how to use MC in logistic trade-off problems based on LCC and LCRL at the early design phase. Our research shows that LCRL is more sensitive than LCC in handling a commercial system with profit concerns. We also develop a MC inventory trade-off approach based on LCRL and show that we may use the LCRL to integrate the concerns of the manufacturer and the user.

Predictive models have established a niche in the field of archaeology. Valued as tools in predicting potential archaeological sites, their use has increased with development of faster and more affordable computer technology. Predictive models highlight areas within a landscape where archaeological sites have a high probability of occurrence. Therefore, time and resources normally expended on archaeological exploration can then be more efficiently allocated to specified locations within a study area. In addition to the resulting predictive surface, these models also identify significant variables for site selection by prehistoric or historic groups. Relationships with the environment, whether natural or social, are extremely pertinent to strengthening the resource base. In turn, this information can be utilized to better interpret and protect valuable cultural resources. A predictive probability model was generated to locate Union Civil War fortifications around Petersburg, Virginia. This study illustrated the ease with which such analysis can be accomplished with the integrated use of a Geographic Information System with statistical analysis. Stepwise logistic regression proved effective in selecting significant independent variables to predict probabilities of fortifications within the study area, but faired poorly when applied to areas withheld from the initial building stage of the model. Variation of battle tactics between these two separate areas proved great enough to have a detrimental effect the model's effectiveness.

Malgré les avantages du transport intermodal, il a toujours des impacts négatifs, qui sont associés aux émissions. Cependant, la pollution est devenue intéressante entre les secteurs académique et industriel. Ainsi, pour atténuer les impacts négatifs du transport de marchandises, cela gagne de plus en plus en pertinence dans le domaine de la logistique. Pour répondre à ces enjeux et défis, pour identifier les apports de la logistique verte à l'optimisation du transport de marchandises, augmenter l'efficacité des opérations d'optimisation liées à la plateforme de transport multimodal.Le fonctionnement optimal du transport de conteneurs est particulièrement important lorsque le transport de marchandises de manière écologique peut être réalisé en combinant différents modes de transport et en coordonnant des activités telles que la recherche du chemin le plus court. Dans le système de transport multimodal de conteneurs, la sélection du mode de transport et de l'itinéraire a un effet important sur le processus de transport des conteneurs de transport. Dans cette thèse, pour organiser le transport multimodal de manière plus efficace, le facteur de routage des conteneurs est considéré avec le facteur de trajet du mode de transport. On étudie l'influence des caractéristiques incertaines du fonctionnement du nœud sur le mode de transport et le choix de l'itinéraire dans le processus de conversion du mode de transport du transport multimodal conteneurisé. Pour minimiser le coût total, un modèle de programmation mixte avec des contraintes de temps est introduit. La transformation graphique est utilisée pour transformer le problème en modèle de chemin le plus court avec des caractéristiques aléatoires et des contraintes de temps de transport dans les opérations de nœud. En vérifiant et en analysant les résultats, le chemin obtenu est acceptable d'un point de vue coût et temps. Ainsi, cela réduit la congestion du trafic et minimise les émissions. Dans le contexte de la congestion du trafic et de la réduction des émissions, cette thèse propose une technologie de peloton pour améliorer la consommation de carburant, la flexibilité routière et optimiser les opérations de transport de conteneurs. Dans cette thèse, un système de téléphérique pour le transport de petites marchandises est proposé et analysé afin de réduire la congestion du trafic dans la zone urbaine.La recherche conclue à l'optimisation des plates-formes de transport multimodal vise à réduire les impacts négatifs sur l'environnement et à maximiser la rentabilité en maximisant les services offerts qui minimisent le coût total de transport ainsi que le temps de transport entre chaque paire de nœuds Origine-Destination (OD) dans le réseau de transport. Ces travaux contribuent également à réduire les émissions de dioxyde de carbone en diminuant la consommation de carburants et en réduisant les coûts d'exploitation. Sur la base de ces travaux, des plates-formes de transport de conteneurs plus efficaces et efficientes peuvent être réalisées. Cette thèse introduit la base théorique de l'optimum de transport multimodal qui permet l'intégration entre différents modes. In recent years, environmental issues are highly associated with the transport industry, modes of goods transport become more than contribution as largest between other sectors. Despite the benefits of intermodal transport, it still has negative impacts, which are associated with emission. However, pollution has become interesting between academic and industrial sectors. Thus, to mitigate the negative impacts caused by goods transport, that gains more and more relevance in the logistics domain. To meet these issue and challenges, to identify the contributions that green logistics to the optimization of freight transport, the increase the efficiency of the multimodal transport platform related optimization operations.The optimal operating of container transport is particularly important where goods transport in an environmentally way can be achieved by combining different modes of transport and coordinating activities such as finding the shortest path. In the multimodal container transport system, the selection of the transport mode and route has a large effect on the transport container transport process. In this thesis, to organize multimodal transport in a more efficient manner the container routing factor is considered along with the path factor of transport mode. The influence of the uncertain characteristics of the node operation on the transport mode and route choice in the process of converting the transport mode from containerized multimodal transport is studied. To minimize the total cost, an integer mixed programming model with time constraints is introduced. The graphical transformation is used to transform the problem into the shortest path model with random characteristics and transport time constraints in the node operations. By verifying and analyzing the results, the path obtained is acceptable from a cost and time perspective. Thus, this reducing traffic congestion and minimizing emissions. In the context of traffic congestion and emissions reduction, in this thesis a platoon technology is proposed to improve to reduce fuel consumption, road flexibility and optimize container transport operations. In this thesis, a ropeway system for the transport of small-scale goods is proposed and analyzed to reduce the traffic congestion within the urban area.The research concluded to optimization multi-modal transport platforms aims to reduce negative impacts on the environment and maximize profitability maximizing the services offered that minimize the total transportation cost as well as minimize the transportation time between each pair of Origin-Destination (O-D) nodes in the transport network. This work also contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by decreasing consumption fuels and reducing operating costs. Based on this work, more effective and efficient container transport platforms can be achieved. This thesis introduces the theoretical base of optimal of multi-modal transport which can integration between different modes. Meanwhile, it contributes to logistics of multi/inter-modal transport efficiency

Abstract:
This research effort examined the read rate differences in a passive ultra high frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) doorway portal as a function of antenna placement, doorway size and composition, reader manufacturer, tag type, and tag orientation. In this analysis of a RFID system, the response observations were modeled under an ordinal logistic regression model. The selection of a categorical analysis method was due to the flaws associated with the initial design of the experiment, which resulted in high valued observations which would have skewed the results of a quantitative model. The ordinal regression analysis of the data indicates that out of the parameters studied, system performance is increased when a Sirit reader system, setup in a double doorway, with an antenna at the top of the door frame as well as the sides are used in conjunction with Sirit NXP tags.

Abstract:

The future has always caught the attention of the human being. The thirst of exploring the future and to know the unknown has driven the human being toward innovativeness.

Companies are expanding their operations worldwide since the past few decades. Profit growth coupled with an effective strategy has become the primary need of global companies. Research in this area has given rise to optimization of the supply chain for higher profitability. Considering the overall strategy the company needs to plan production well in advance. The operational planning comes in picture at this moment. In order to reduce excessive inventory at each stage of the production; one should know the demand of the next stage and preferably the end customer demand. The process of sales forecasting is undertaken to predict demand at different stages. It is a complex managerial function and hence needed to be undertaken by a scientific way. The sales forecasting the function includes process of forecasting, administration, hardware, software, users and developers of forecast.

Historically sales forecasting has been considered as a side activity by most of the companies. Sales forecasting has not been considered as an important function of marketing and finance. Very few companies have seen sales forecasting by a scientific management point of view. Less research has been reported in sales forecasting in comparison to other managerial functions. Planning based on sales forecasting; may be part of a selected strategy for growth and profitability. These facts have attracted us to study sales forecasting as a managerial function.

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the sales forecasting process, sales forecasting system, sales forecasting methods and techniques. Further proposing possibilities of improvements in existing forecasting process is also purpose of this study.

We have selected three manufacturing companies for this study based on purposive sampling. Considering research interest in phenomenon study; we have selected a qualitative research strategy for this study. We have selected a case study method for our research as it is the most appropriate tool to study the relation between theory and phenomenon. For this research, we have collected the data by semistructured interviews based on a pre formed questionnaire. The questionnaire has been prepared with respect to our research purpose and open ended questions were used to gather extensive data. The data gathered during interviews, have been analyzed by the use of ‘Flow model’ suggested by Miles and Huberman (1994).

Results from this study shows that there is a need to see ‘sales forecasting’ as a management function rather than a computer activity. To achieve the best information integration throughout the supply chain, increased information visibility is needed. To achieve accuracy in both forecasting and planning; collaborative forecasting may be used. Forecasting software needs to have a suite of methods towards product specific forecasting. The need of customized softwares has also been indicated by this study. The need to measure performance of forecasting by means of accuracy, cost and customer relationship has been concluded.

Дисертаційна робота присвячена розробці теоретичних та практичних положень управління логістичним потоком на газотранспортних підприємствах. На основі проведеного дослідження розроблено модель логістичної стратегії діяльності газотранспортного підприємства, що забезпечує контроль за використанням газу на етапах постачання, споживання та зберігання в підземних газосховищах при мінімальних витратах. Проведено аналіз логістичних функцій в газотранспортній галузі та розроблено принципи функціонування логістичних систем для розробки ефективної логістичної стратегії газотранспортного підприємства. Розглянуто оптимізаційні моделі управління запасами, на основі яких визначено напрямки та критерії ефективного функціонування логістичної системи. Розроблено моделі прогнозування з врахуванням сезонного характеру функціонування підприємства, що дозволило спрогнозувати величини відбирання обсягів газу з підземних сховищ газу. Запропоновано алгоритм вибору логістичної стратегії газотранспортного підприємства, що передбачає визначення основних взаємозалежностей між результатами управління його логістичними потоками і витратами на їх досягнення.
Диссертационная работа посвящена разработке теоретических и практических положений управления логистическим потоком на газотранспортных предприятиях. На основе проведенного исследования разработана модель логистической стратегии деятельности газотранспортного предприятия, которое обеспечивает оптимальное использование газа на этапах снабжения, потребления и хранения в подземных газоубежищах при минимальных расходах. Для разработки эффективной логистической стратегии газотранспортного предприятия проведен анализ логистических функций в газотранспортной отрасли и разработаны принципы функционирования логистических систем В результате применения методических аспектов управления запасами в логистической системе разработана модель процесса закачивания и отбирания газа из ПСГ, практическая реализация которой позволяет обеспечить контроль за бесперебойностью снабжения газа, максимальным закачиванием газа в подземные газохранилеща с целью обеспечения рентабельной работы газотранспортной системы на полную мощность и минимальный риск предприятия. Рассмотрены оптимизационные модели управления запасами, на основе которых определенно направления и критерии эффективного функционирования логистической системы. Прогнозные оценки развития процесса управления логистическими потоками на газотранспортных предприятиях являются основой принятия управленческих решений при оперативном, тактическом и стратегическом планировании и занимают главную позицию в структуре заданий логистической стратегии. Поэтому, учитывая сезонное потребление газа, в работе использованы прогнозные адитивну и мультипликативные модели, модель Винтерса та модель на основе анализа Фур’е с учетом сезонной компоненты, которые позволили спрогнозировать величины отбирания объемов газа из ПСГ. Разработана модель логистической стратегии управления материальным потоком в газотранспортной системе, дает возможность обеспечить интегрированную взаимосвязь системы планирования внутренней потребности в газовых ресурсах, системы управления запасами товарных ресурсов, системы управления закупкой товарных ресурсов, информационной системы. Кроме того, такая модель предусматривает комплексный подход к управлению логистическим потоком, учитывает динамический баланс внутреннего потенциала предприятия и состояние экономических отношений в отрасли и дает возможность облегчить процесс определения целей предприятия, которое заключается в разработке качественных и количественных показателей, которые являются основными критериями оценки предложенного для их достижения логистического подхода. Внедрение предложенной модели логистической стратегии функционирования предприятия позволит оптимизировать выполнение управленческих функций на всех стадиях экономического процесса, связанных с основным видом деятельности предприятия, - комплексным управлением газовыми потоками, которое обеспечивает контроль за использованием газа на этапах снабжения, потребления и хранения в подземных газоубежищах.
The dissertation work is devoted to the development of theoretical and practical positions of management of a logistic stream on the gas-transport enterprises. On the basis of the conducted research the model of the logistic strategy of activity of the is developed gas-transport enterprise, which provides control after the use of gas on the stages of supply, consumption and storage in the underground gas-shelters at minimum charges. The analysis of the logistic functions is conducted in gas-transport industry and the principles of functioning of the logistic systems are developed for the development of fhe effective logistic strategy of the gas-transport enterprise. The optimization frames of the case supplies have been studied on the basis of which the directions and criteria of the effective functioning of the logistic system have been determined. The models of prognostication including the seasonal character of functioning of the enterprise are developed which allowed to prognosticate the quantity of the amount of gas extraction from the dug-outs of gas. The algorithm of choice of logistic strategy of gas-transport enterprise has been offered which foresees the determination of basic correlations between the results of management of its logistic streams and charges on their achievement supply.

La logistique consiste à stocker, déplacer et expédier des marchandises à des détaillants ou clients finaux tant en garantissant une gestion efficace des flux d’information sous-jacents. Les travaux menés durant cette thèse visent à automatiser le processus de préparation de commande sur palette en introduisant des robots manipulateurs mobiles dans les entrepôts logistiques, avec un double objectif : diminuer la pénibilité du travail et augmenter la productivité face à la croissance des volumes traités.Après un état de l’art exhaustif sur les robots manipulateurs mobiles, l’auteur met en œuvre un ensemble de procédés et processus afin de prélever des colis sur des palettes disposées sous des racks et cela en toute autonomie. Des blocs fonctionnels sont ainsi constitués pour réaliser l’ensemble des tâches pour la base mobile (cartographie, localisation, planification, navigation) ainsi que pour le bras manipulateur. Une disposition originale et inédite des capteurs sur le manipulateur mobile ainsi que la mise en place d’ARtag sur les éléments d’infrastructures permettent de récupérer des « smart data » plutôt que du « big data », permettant de conjuguer la complexité du problème avec les contraintes temps réel de l’application.Un algorithme de suivi d’un « mur virtuel » est proposé utilisant une transformée de Hough rendue plus robuste grâce à plusieurs niveaux de filtrage. La synchronisation et la commande de ces deux systèmes est assurée par des réseaux de Pétri. Enfin le prototype développé durant cette thèse CIFRE a été non seulement testé au laboratoire mais aussi dans les conditions réelles d’un entrepôt logistique
Logistics involves the storage and displacement of goods. These goods are stored in warehouses and shipped to retailers in pallets. Pallets are produced on a customer’s order. Order picking for a pallet is a fatigue induced process resulting in poor performance of the workers, decreasing the productivity and inducing delays in supply chain. Flexibility is introduced to increase productivity by commissioning robots for process automation. These robots consist of autonomous ground vehicles for transporting freight and static manipulators for pick and place. A static robot has limited workspace and the capability of a manipulator is significantly enhanced by adding a mobile base. Mobile manipulation is now being exploited for pick & place and pallet production. This thesis presents a first attempt to achieve autonomous palletization using mobile manipulation. To acquire palletization by mobile manipulation requires the identification of functional blocks, to conceive a framework to achieve this task. A thorough state of the art has been prepared in this thesis corresponding to each element of the global framework. To realize the proof of concept, a prototype has been developed by leveraging existing technologies, by integrating a mobile base with manipulator and a grasping system with a gripping element. For each functional block of the global framework, control execution strategies have been developed and tested in industrial environment. Specifically, localization is acquired by the use of synthetic landmarks, a motion planning and control strategy is employed for global navigation and a rack tracking motion control has been developed for moving inside the racks. To combine and execute all the elements without deadlocks a coordination framework is used as a global supervisor. The path planner for global navigation is based on the shortest distance between two points, and rack tracking is developed by applying the conventional Hough transform to the lidar data and using the output in a nonlinear controller, while the motion planner for manipulation is based on linear trajectories. The framework for supervisory control is based on discrete event systems topology and state machines corresponding to each element have been modelized using Petri nets. Finally, the framework has been tested for a complete picking task on the mobile manipulator to validate the selection of strategies and performance of each functional element. The successful demonstration has been concluded as a first step towards the evolution of autonomous palletization

The internationalisation of investments and the globalisation of the markets have created a high level of competition among manufacturing and services companies which has transcended the competition among nations. In this environment, quality information and exact timing are the sole answers for generating comparative and competitive advantages with respect to other manufacturers and providers. Inspired by these challenges, Latin American countries have searched for ways to increase and diversify their exports in order to heighten their trade balance surpluses. This, in turn, helps them to overcome their debt problems and gain access to a better quality of life. With these criteria in mind, these countries have begun to join the economic aperture and globalisation processes. United by their common ethnic heritage, they are driven by the growing need to co-ordinate national and regional decisions in order to achieve a harmonic community development. The efficiency principle imposed by the present international trade scenario requires extreme attention to detail in the administration of production costs and in placing products on the market. Because a product's success is highly sensitive to cost and distribution methods, maritime transport and its associated systems require very specific management techniques. Those management techniques must take into account that as transport is a service it gives added value to the cargo. Thus, the management model, costs involved, planning processes, and area policies are topics of vital importance for achieving these nations' development objectives. The design of specific policies, both operational as well as for development (investments), should comply with certain minimum conditions. The resulting policies should satisfy integrally and harmoniously the requirements the State establishes in its general National Development Strategy. This strategy considers factors of monetary and trade uncertainty. States must be particularly careful to interpret changes, tendencies, circumstances and difficulties which emerge in the international markets they serve, correctly. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyse the existing maritime transport logistic system in Chile, beginning with the history of ports and economic development. Subsequently, this study will analyse all relevant information related to logistics and the lessons learnt during the process of modernization. For analytical purposes, the study establishes an evaluation area which has been represented by a "graph" built up from nodes and links.These symbolise the complex network of port systems, hinterlands, roads, railways and coastal shipping. Likewise, the links and nodes have direction, intensity and values that the study intends to describe and evaluate. Moreover, hinterlands are not as exclusive as they were before. Consequently, most of the port systems face a very competitive market in offering services for international hinterlands/foreland. Therefore, this thesis will conclude that at least some Latin American countries establish land bridges between them. There have been some studies about the land bridges, "inter-oceanic corridors" or "integration corridors" options in South America.The Pacific Ocean Basin and the APEC countries represent a huge market for those Atlantic countries which have products to export and import from that vast area of the globe. The existence of the main industrial site of South America running from the Atlantic side of South America to the Pacific Coast, which forms an "Industrial Banana", is the foundation of a massive demand to and from both coasts. The study evaluated the logistics system through different criteria, such as logistics, physical capacities, and economic, social, environmental and political considerations. Having established these criteria, the researcher can better evaluate the relevant parameters and variables to consider in the design of the parametric model.
La internacionalizacion de las inversiones y la globalizacion de los mercados, han creado un alto nivel de competitividad entre los proveedores de manufactura o de servicios, lo que trasciende a la competitividad entre las naciones. En este escenario, la informacion de calidad y respuesta en tiempo real son la respuesta para generar ventajas comparativas y competitivas respecto de otros productores y proveedores. Inspirados en estos cambios, los paises Latinoamericanos han buscado formas como aumentar y diversificar sus exportaciones, con el proposito de incrementar sus balanzas comerciales. Esto les ayuda a sobrellevar sus problemas de deuda, accediendo a mejor calidad de vida. Con estos criterios en mente, los paises de la Region han accedido a los procesos de apertura economica y globalizacion de los mercados. Unidos por la herencia etnica comun, ven una creciente necesidad por la coordinacion de sus decisiones nacionales y regionales, de manera de alcanzar el desarrollo comun de manera harmonica. Los principios de eficiencia impuestos por el presente esquema de comercio internacional, requiren de una atencion especial en la gestion de los costos de produccion y en la colocacion de los productos en los mercados. Considerando que el exito del producto es sensible a su costo, los sistemas de distribucion y logistica requiren de tecnicas especificas de gestion. Por ello, los modelos de gestion, costos, procesos de planificacion y politicas sectoriales son de vital importancia para alcanzar los objetivos nacionales de desarrollo. El diseno de politicas sectoriales, tanto operacionales como de desarrollo (inversiones), deberian cumplir con los minimas condiciones para lograr su objetivo pais. Las politicas resultantes debieran satisfacer de manera integral y harmonica, los requirimientos que el Estado ha establecido en su Estrategia Nacional de Desarrollo. Dicha estrategia debe incluir las incertidumbres monetarias y de commercio. Los Estados deben ser particularmente cuidadosos para interpretar correctamente los cambios, tendencias, circunstancias y dificultades que emergen de los mercados internacionales que ellos sirven. Por lo indicado anteriormente, el proposito de esta tesis es analizar el sistema de logistica maritima en Chile, comenzando con la historia de sus puertos y desarrollo economico, posteriormente el analisis de la informacion relevante a logistica y las lecciones aprendidas durante el proceso de modernizacion economica. Con propositos analiticos, el estudio determino una zona fisica de evaluacion que esta representada por la "teoria de grafos". Esta simboliza la compleja red de puertos, hinterlands, caminos, ferrovias y transporte maritimo costero. Los nodos y sus enlaces tienen direccion, intensidad y valores que el estudio pretende evaluar y dimensionar. Mas aun, en la actualidad el hinterland de los puertos ha dejado de ser exclusivo, consecuentemente, los sistemas portuarios enfrentan una agresiva competencia para ofertar servicios a sus hinterland/foreland, por lo cual algunos paises latinoamericanos construyeron "puentes terrestres" entre ellos, el estudio indica algunas opciones de "puentes terrestres", "corredores inter-oceanicos" o "corredores de integracion" identificados en America del Sur. La cuenca del Pacifico y los paises APEC representan un mercado enorme para los paises de la costa Atlantica. La existencia de la principal area industrial de Sudamerica se configura entre el Atlantico y Pacifico, forma lo que el autor denomina como la "Banana Industrial", lo que origina una enorme demanda en los dos sentidos. El estudio evalua los sistemas desde diferentes criterios, tales como: sus capacidades fisicas y logisticas, sus consideraciones economicas, politicas, sociales, y medio ambientales. Una vez establesidos los criterios, el investigador puede identificar y evaluar de mejor forma los parametros y variables a considerar en el diseno del "modelo parametrico".

Abstract:
Logistics is typically defined as the design and operation of the physical, managerial and informational systems needed to allow goods to overcome space and time. Traditional models and methods for logistic system design and management focus on the optimization of the techno-economic performances. However, logistic activities are distinguished by a huge environmental impact. For instance, the final energy consumption for freight transportation reached in recent years the alarming value of 13% of the total end-use energy worldwide, equal to 40 EJ per year. Thus, innovative techniques for logistic system design and management have to guarantee these system overall sustainability not only from a technical and economic perspective but also from an environmental viewpoint. To this end, multi-objective optimization is of strong help. This is a mathematical programming technique to systematically and simultaneously optimize a collection of objective functions, often conflicting among them. Considering this scenario, aim of this Ph.D. thesis is to develop, propose and validate innovative multi-objective models and methods for design and management of sustainable logistic systems simultaneously optimizing the system technical performance, economic profitability and environmental impact. The developed models fully manage the material flow from suppliers to assembly or manufacturing areas and from these to final customers through the distribution, storage and retrieving activities among and within the logistic actors. An original decision support system is proposed to jointly minimize the operating cost, carbon footprint and delivery time in the design of multi-modal multi-level distribution networks considering the most relevant features of the delivered products. Concerning warehousing systems, both design and operation problems are tackled. A multi-objective optimization model is developed to determine the warehouse building configuration, namely length, width and height, which simultaneously minimizes travel time, total cost and carbon footprint objective functions. These two latter are estimated through a lifecycle approach. All the activities related to warehouse building installation and operating phases are evaluated both from an economic and an environmental perspective. Warehousing system operation is analyzed by means of storage assignment strategy. A time and energy based strategy is proposed to jointly minimize the travel time and the energy required by the material handling vehicles to store and retrieve the unit loads. Proper vehicle motion configuration and unit load features are considered to accurately model the objective functions. Finally, the presented models and methods are tested and validated against case studies from the food and beverage industry. The results demonstrate that a tremendous environmental impact reduction is possible at negligible technical and economic performance worsening.
La logistica viene tipicamente definita come l’insieme di quelle attività di progettazione e gestione di sistemi fisici ed informativi necessari per consentire alle diverse tipologie di merci di superare lo spazio ed il tempo. I modelli ed i metodi tradizionali per la progettazione e gestione dei sistemi logistici si focalizzano sull’ottimizzazione delle prestazioni tecnico-economiche. Tuttavia, le attività logistiche si contraddistinguono per un elevato impatto ambientale. Solo per citare un esempio, il consumo di energia per il trasporto merci ha raggiunto negli ultimi anni il 13% dell’energia complessivamente utilizzata su scala mondiale, pari cioè a 40 EJ annui. Gli approcci innovativi per la progettazione e gestione di sistemi logistici devono necessariamente garantire la loro sostenibilità non solo da un punto di vista tecnico ed economico, ma anche da quello ambientale. A tal fine, l’ottimizzazione multi-obiettivo è di notevole aiuto. Questo metodo di programmazione matematica permette di ottimizzare sistematicamente e simultaneamente un insieme di funzioni obiettivo spesso contrastanti tra loro. Alla luce di questo scenario, lo scopo di questa tesi di dottorato è quello di sviluppare, proporre e validare modelli e metodi multi-obiettivo innovativi per la progettazione e la gestione di sistemi logistici sostenibili ottimizzando contemporaneamente le loro prestazioni tecniche, economiche ed ambientali. I modelli sviluppati permettono di gestire nella sua interezza il flusso di materiali dai fornitori ai reparti di fabbricazione o assemblaggio e da questi ai clienti finali attraverso le necessarie attività di distribuzione, stoccaggio e prelievo all’interno e tra gli attori della catena logistica. E’ stato sviluppato un sistema per il supporto decisionale atto a minimizzare contemporaneamente il costo operativo, la carbon footprint ed il tempo di trasporto di reti distributive multi-livello e multi-modali prendendo in considerazione le più importanti caratteristiche dei prodotti trasportati. Per quanto riguarda i sistemi di immagazzinamento e stoccaggio, questa tesi affronta sia le tematiche di progettazione sia quelle operative. Un modello di ottimizzazione multi-obiettivo è proposto per definire la configurazione degli edifici atti allo stoccaggio merci, ovvero la loro lunghezza, larghezza ed altezza, al fine di minimizzare il tempo di prelievo, il costo totale e la carbon footprint. Queste ultime due funzioni obiettivo sono state valutate considerando l’intero ciclo di vita del magazzino. Tutte le attività relative alle fasi di installazione ed esercizio dell’edificio vengono contabilizzate sia da un punto di vista economico che ambientale. Per quanto concerne la gestione operativa di un sistema di immagazzinamento, questa tesi affrontata il problema dell’assegnazione dei prodotti ai vani di stoccaggio. Si è definito un modello di ottimizzazione multi-obiettivo per minimizzare contestualmente il tempo e l’energia necessari alle attività di prelievo e stoccaggio. Per modellare opportunamente le funzioni obiettivo temporali ed energetiche sono stati valutati accuratamente sia i profili di moto dei veicoli per lo stoccaggio merce sia le caratteristiche dei prodotti da immagazzinare. Per concludere, i modelli ed i metodi presentati sono stati validati e testati con casi studio provenienti dall’industria alimentare. I risultati ottenuti dimostrano come sia possibile ridurre drasticamente l’impatto ambientale di questi sistemi logistici a scapito di un trascurabile peggioramento delle prestazioni tecnico ed economiche.

Cognition and formation of the logistic processes structure is important for planning, control and management of elements of the logistic chain. The thesis focuses on the logistic processes structure in a manufacturing company and the examination of their instantiations. To achieve the objective, in the thesis it was necessary to propose a unifying classification of logistic processes, as well as the general classification for the integration of logistic functions in the organization of a manufacturing company. The proposed classifications and proposed parameters allowed to compare the results of research concerning the comparison of different logistic processes (or operations) in companies.

This thesis discusses an infrastructure of integral logistics support system for avionics system in logistics support and management organization. The expectation focuses on the economic effect and cost control toward high availability of aircraft operation. To the most important factors in logistics management, this thesis proposes an integration of operation assignment, maintenance logistics and component support. A cross relationship among these three factors are studied to formulate an efficient database structure with decision-making procedures. The proposed system combines aviation application with mission assignment to establish a maintenance scheduling then generates logistics support requirements in all major steps. In database construction, this thesis considers aircraft overall availability to integrate databases from all subdivisions with their linkages and identities. The auxiliary application system follows the decision-making rule with three key factors, and arranges aircraft assignment plan for different phases. The aircraft maintenance schedules, manpower supports and material demands are generated accordingly.

In the business of aviation, the real indicator to aviation operation is the availability of aircraft operation. The high availability of aircraft operation depends on the efficient logistics management. This thesis focuses on three management aspects of aircrafts on mission and aviation logistics, which are, dispatch, maintenance, and supplies. Further discussion will be provided to make a revised and more integral logistics management database according to the interdependence and relations of these three aspects. And after the setup of the unification between the database and the applied program, the aircraft logistic management information system can be built to anticipate the arrangement of dispatch, maintenance schedule and supply management. We expect that this system could provide a brand-new management concept in the area of aviation logistics, and achieve the goal of high availability on aviation missions.

Mobile agents are software program that can move from host to host and interact with other agents and distributed resources in a heterogeneous network. They are therefore particularly effective for developing distributed application. Mobile computing is also gaining more and more popularity in the recent years as professionals discover the benefits of being able to connect to the vast of distributed information resource at all time without any spatial constraints. When mobile agents are serviced by some service stations, they maybe migrate with an amount of intermediate results that just be needed in mobile agent’s destination or some of the service stations. And in each service station that mobile agents have migrated must cost a large time and resources to process mobile agents in receiving and interpreting agent’s content. Therefore, this paper presents a Logistic System (LS) Architecture and integrates with MACE (Mobile Agent Carrier Environment) to resolve the above problems.

Before RFID system introduced, the validation of cargo were checked by manpower with bar code. Since RFID system has been introduced and accepted by logistics industries years ago, the validation processes are changed from using manpower with bar code to using RFID readers with tags, which could be performed automatically to shorten the processing time. In current logistics system, all the data obtained by the RFID readers have to be sent to back-end server via network to validate these cargos. Once the network occurs problems, the process of cargo validation has to be delayed. In this thesis, we proposed a solution, the fast offline validation platform, to solve this problem. In this platform, we utilized cryptographic functions such as message digest, digital signature, etc., to ensure security compliance during the validation process.

This study focuses on single manufacturer and single retailer in supply chain. In the reverse logistic, retailer is commissioned by manufacturer to collect the end-of -life products from consumer, the recovery quantity is a multiplicative function, and it depends on recovery price. After remanufacturing, the ends-of -life products’ quality like the new one; they have the same retail price in market. By replacing part of the higher manufacturing costs with lower manufacturing cost can increase the overall supply chain profit, which make the reverse logistic more competitive to join the supply chain. The purpose of the study is to maximize the channel profit by different strategies, we use different contract decision to coordinate the decentralize channel member that make them achieve win-win situation. In order to use the numerical study and sensitivity analysis to obtain further information about how these parameters influence the profit function, we take the Toner Cartridge for example to derive the parameters of our model.
