Abstract:
Topicality. In the conditions of a developed market economy and the deepening of the specialization of business entities, the theory of logistics is more oriented towards enterprises, and not to markets, and needs some market reorientation. Under the pressure of market processes, scientists are trying to generalize the market logistics processes of goods through the introduction of such concepts as: "logistics system", transport, marketing logistics. Further analysis of the theory of logistics requires attention to the main element of the market - the product, given that all economic actors in a market economy operate in a market environment, that is within the relevant commodity markets. That is, any business entity belongs to a certain commodity market ie it operates within a defined commodity market. Note that the product is precisely the element that determines the market - the commodity market. Consequently, the realization of the functions of the commodity movement combines the respective economic entities among themselves into the logistic chain of the commodity market. The logistic chain is a clearly defined route of a commodity wheel with logistic transitions, in which there are changes in the nature of the flow of goods, as well as changes in ownership. Aim and tasks. The purpose of this article is to develop approaches to the formation of the theory of market logistics on the reproductive principle. Research results. Development of proposals for the formation of the theory of market logistics on the reproductive principle. The definition of the category "market logistics" is given, the principles on which effective logistic chains of commodity markets should be organized and their reproductive processes must be formed. Conclusions. Construction of an effective reproduction market logistics is also provided by the minimum costs associated with the flow of material flow from the supplier to the consumer at the minimum possible date. However, the real process of movement of goods in the market is associated with the appearance on its way of some obstacles (barriers), or points of logistical gaps, which, on the one hand, leads to increased opium and increased costs for overcoming it, and on the other hand, to forced warehousing (delay) when there is a lack of bandwidth of the market chain links. Therefore, the task of the next research of market logistics is to determine ways to overcome these obstacles or gap, which impair the ideal conditions for the movement of material flows, channels of commodity movement as a deviation from a single straight line.

Abstract:
Topicality. The most uncertain and perhaps the main among others, both in theory and in logistics, is the problem of logistics management. Especially this problem becomes relevant and important in the formulation of the theoretical and practical presentation of logistics, as the form of organization of the market system, or rather, the logistics chain of the commodity market. It has come to the point that domestic producers lose in the competition to importers due to inefficient logistics, which is better organized by foreign operators. The main reason for this is that the state has out of sight the problem of managing logistics processes, giving its solution to the salary of the relevant business structures, both internal and external. First of all, for analysis of the management system, all the constituent elements of the system should be defined, namely: the purpose, tasks, objects, objects and subjects of management, the nature and nature of management measures, etc. Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to study the management of the logistics of the commodity market and the problems of defining the principles of building a management system. The most effective commodity markets are those that operate in expanded reproduction mode, the quantitative criteria of which are the value added (DF) that are generated on the market. It is on this that the theory of market efficiency is also being built. Thus, the purpose of managing the market logistics is to build (to create) such logistics that would satisfy this requirement. Research results. The principles, subjects and mechanisms of market logistics management are defined. The structural model of the market logistics management system is constructed. In the structural model, in addition to the basic conditions, which determine the management system itself, management entities whose activity is subordinated to these basic conditions, on the other hand, and, on the other hand, when certain market mechanisms are used, certain (indicated by arrows) are possible managerial influences on corresponding managing parameters of the logistic chains of commodity markets. Conclusions. Consequently, in the course of the study, we have identified the factors that determine the conditions for the functioning of commodity markets, as well as the construction of their logistic chains. Thus, the above and above principles, concepts and categories, we combined in our constructed model of management of the logistics chains of commodity markets, which we can recommend for introduction in order to accelerate their development.

Abstract:
Topicality. The relevance of this study is to determine the factors that accelerate the process of development of the national economy based on the development of real sector markets. Current theory draws attention to the need to significantly reduce logistics costs in these markets. The latter include the full range of costs incurred in moving a product or service from the place of production to the end consumer. Today, in the world due to high production levels, the economic focus is on meeting the needs of consumer markets, and the expansion of geographic boundaries of markets due to the development of global processes is forcing effective ways of supply to the farthest corners of the continent. Therefore, the most powerful manufacturers - corporations spend considerable efforts to win new consumer markets. The governments of the countries are also involved in this fight. In the process there are so-called trade wars. In our view, the most effective tool in this competition is to create effective logistics for commodity markets. Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to investigate the hypothesis of the need to introduce the concept of "market logistics" in the general theory of logistics and research of this category. Research results. In the course of the research the necessity of the term "market logistics" or "market logistics" was proved, its essence was revealed and definitions were given. Mechanisms that promote the promotion of goods in the market (commodity movement), which contribute not only to the commodity movement, but also to the reproduction of other resources (financial, labor, etc.) involved in the logistics chain and their classification are disclosed. The differences in the interpretation and application of the mechanisms of the category "enterprise logistics" and "market logistics" are identified. The hypothesis is developed, the essence of which is as follows: "The effectiveness of a commodity rick depends on the efficiency of construction and organization of its logistics chain, and which, in turn, depends on its spatial and temporal parameters, ie on the extension of its geographical (territorial) boundaries and the stability of time border . Spatial parameters of logistics chains of commodity markets are revealed, their essence is presented, and also the analysis of global value chains as a methodology of analysis of spatial parameters of commodity markets is carried out. Time parameters of logistics chains of commodity markets are defined and analyzed and mechanisms of their regulation are defined. A new view of logistics, which, unlike others, provides for taking into account the interests of the state, the participation of certain bodies in market processes, which will allow to involve management tools more widely and substantively in the development of markets. Conclusions. The overall conclusion of the research findings outlined in the scientific report is as follows. Organization of market logistics, which is built into the theory of organization of commodity markets should be based on the following principles: maximum coverage of all market entities by the organized (ordered) logistics of the relevant product market; the maximum share of value added generated in the relevant market that remains in the country (within geographic market parameters) with its corresponding return to the reproduction process of the given market; effective organization of commodity exchange operations at the points of logistic crossings (crossroads), by applying modern integration and differential economic mechanisms and technologies of logistics services (operations) execution; maximum integration of commodity markets into the national economy, by reducing the time of commodity movement through the market from producer to consumer based on the elimination of logistical gaps in logistics chains; optimization of spatial parameters of domestic commodity markets, by extension of their geographical (territorial) borders, including foreign states, provided that the added value is returned to the national economy and state support.

Abstract:
Topicality. The relevance of this scientific problem lies in the study of the evolution of the development of logistics as an economic category in order to determine the trends of its development, factors affecting this development, historical changes, as a basis for predicting and forecasting the further development of this direction of organization of market and logistics environment. Thus, known wisdom suggests that if we acknowledge the past, we cannot predict the future. That is, without this we cannot plan economic relations and influence their development. Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to determine: stages of logistics development, within which certain economic processes occurring in commodity markets are combined; defines the functions and logistics elements that make up the commodity markets; further prospects for the development of market logistics. Research results. The development of logistics is influenced by changes in the economic and practical sphere and the transformation of market relations, in particular, such transformational changes that influenced the logistics development can be characterized as follows: overproduction as a result of the development of the industrial economy; specialization under the pressure of cost savings in logistics processes; globalization as a process of development of the world economy and pressure of developed countries on others; a technological factor that has been developing at an accelerated pace in recent years and is becoming more influential). Four stages of development of logistics in historical dimension are defined (stage 1 is characterized by fragmentation of production processes, which influences the gradual transition of the economy from producer to buyer market; stage 2 extends the marketing concept, which focuses on strengthening the strategy of inventory formation; stage 3 is characterized by integration of logistics functions production and distribution entities of the market, which allows to achieve minimization of logistics costs; stage 4 characterizes the development of logistics by optimizing the time and space criteria, at this stage there are global logistics networks), which are formed on the basis of changes in market relations, as well as depending on the development of technological and technical factors characteristic of this or that stage. It is determined that the formation of these stages is influenced by the degree of development of economic market instruments, such as: marketing, integration, strategic planning, foresight forecasting. Conclusion. As a result of the study, the authors tried to predict the further development of logistics as a scientific field, taking into account the following factors: deepening conflict of interest between corporations and governments of different countries, which, under the influence of deglobalization, leads to the transformation of logistics of markets into simpler forms - supply chains with increased parameters of supply; transformation of consumer markets under the influence of the evolution of social needs, in which the individualization of public demand is beginning to dominate and the technology of individual supply through Internet networks is changing accordingly; the use of foresight forecasting as a progressive form of identifying and meeting public needs through the improvement of logistics services.

Abstract:
Nowadays, companies offer various logistics services to their customers. Diversity of these services is essential for business. The range of services that logistics companies cover depends on various factors; it can be solely transport, but can also be a complex service that includes organisation of raw materials delivery, warehousing, delivery of finished goods to customers and dealing with documents like invoices, waybills and others. The increasing popularity of logistics in services is noticeable. This is connected with global changes. This is a complex phenomenon that connects aspects and features of services and logistics. The three most important areas for logistics in services are: minimisation of waiting time, management of service potential and service delivery. The goal of this article is to reveal the difference between these two subjects and review the literature connected with them. The main conclusions are that logistics services can be seen as belonging to logistics in the services phenomenon. In every area of logistics in services, three phases can be distinguished: supply, production and sales. Germany has the leading position in Europe when it comes to the logistics services market. Dynamic changes in logistics have led to the development of a new classification of logistics enterprises. The European Commission is analysing changes in the sector in order to prepare new strategic objectives.

Abstract:
“Property owners who start to understand the new demands from the e--‐commerce companies and start handling the risks it implies can probably have a lot to win.” Johan Franzén, Catena The e--‐commerce sector is growing rapidly as a result of the current digitalization, changing the society's day--‐to--‐day consuming patterns. E--‐commerce companies have a unique set of  characteristics, creating new demands within the warehouse and logistics segment in the leasing market. Leases with durations between 10--‐15 years have traditionally been  common for warehouse and logistics properties. However the current trend is towards lease agreements with shorter lease duration. This report intends to analyze how the e--‐ commerce expansion affects the warehouse and logistics market, and to  determine if the statement regarding if there is a gap between different players in the market holds. The selection of participants in the study consists of e--‐ commerce companies, property owners and third--‐party logistics companies. In addition to this, interviews have been held with a variety of property consultants as well as with a professor in retail and logistics. Using a Qualitative method, the aim to examine the different market participants’ views and perceptions on the subject. The result of the study clearly shows there is an asymmetry between the different participants active within the segment.  The e--‐commerce companies demand lease agreements with shorter lease duration, whilst the property owners prefer longer lease durations in order to decrease the risk. Furthermore, shorter lease duration affects the transaction market and property value considerably. The demand for city logistics is increasing and the demand for central warehousing will remain. Finally,  it becomes more common with automation in the warehouse and logistics  space.

Abstract:
This report is a part of a larger project with the aim of developing a proof-of-concept prototype. The project was started on the initiative of Company X and is a collaboration between them and the University of Borås. Company X are a logistics consultant firm specialized in warehousing operations. Through this project Company X hope to strengthen their standing on the market and offer their customers new and innovative solutions. The purpose of this project is to, with the assistance of AI, calculate in what cluster within a warehouse a product should be placed in order to create more efficient picking routes and to research the market in order to evaluate the business potential for this kind of service. This specific report aims to conduct a market analysis for the potential service. It will do so by conducting interviews and creating a theoretical framework consisting of relevant literature. When performing the market research and analysis of the potential IT-service there are a few limitations caused by a number of factors that could potentially affect the significance of the end result. The service is not yet developed and cannot be described in detail but only as an idea, which could make it difficult for the interview respondents to fully understand the service. The report will also be limited for certain practical reasons such as the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of this, the report has not had the opportunity to conduct the interviews with potential customers on site but have been conducted online, via link. The theoretical framework has two different main focus areas. The first area addresses basic warehouse logistics and difficulties in selling high technology products, while the second area includes marketing strategies and strategic marketing planning. The market analysis will consist of a SWOT-analysis and an STP-analysis. The report has concluded that the service has potential and suggests that company type B is the best suited potential customer. Personal and demand driven sales are also considered helpful factors when selling high-tech products and solutions.

Abstract:
A well-known concept, both in practice and in literature is the logistics market. This market is a place where shippers’ demand for logistics services meets Logistics Service Providers’ (LSPs’) supply of such services. Although this market has been given much attention in previous research, focus has been on shippers, while the LSP perspective has to a large extent been neglected. Several logistics related trends indicate that there is an increasing need for strong relationships between LSPs and supply chains, and one such trend is the “greening” of companies and supply chains. Although it is widely recognised that transports and  logistics are a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, environmental logistics literature has only focused on the interaction between LSPs and their customers to a very limited extent. This is despite the fact that LSPs could include so-called green categories in their offerings, just as shippers could include green categories in their demands and that this interaction could in turn contribute to a decrease of greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the extent to which green categories are taken into account in the logistics market and suggest explanations. This includes identifying those green categories that are relevant for the logistics market, as well as a description of matches and mismatches with regard to these green categories. The matches and mismatches are studied from both a general market perspective and a relationship perspective. Initial explanations for the matches and mismatches in the relationship perspective contribute to the final part of the purpose. There are two basic theoretical starting-points in this thesis. Firstly, it is recognised that the logistics market is important to the purpose and different ways to view this market are therefore discussed. Secondly, general environmental logistics literature provides a basis for the research into green categories that can be offered or demanded on the logistics market. In the exploratoryresearch conducted for the thesis, the insights from literature are combined with empirical datafrom a survey, a homepage scan and four case studies of buyer-supplier relationships. One main contribution of this thesis is the large number of green categories that are identified as relevant for LSPs and shippers on the logistics market. These green categories range from environmental management systems, vehicle technologies and CO2 reports, to reviews of sustainability reports, relationship specific green projects and general desires among shippers to decrease CO2 emissions. A comparison of the supply of and demand for the green categories indicates that from a general market perspective, there appear to be clear mismatches between green supply and green demand. The same comparison made from a relationship perspective also indicates severalmismatches between green supply and green demand, but the buyer-supplier relationships studied show matches between green offerings and green demands to a greater extent than the market perspective does. Interestingly, the LSPs seem to include more in their offerings than the shippers appear to include in their demands for almost all mismatches in both the market perspective and the relationship perspective. Seven propositions are made to account for the matches and mismatches between green categories in buyer-supplier relationships. Three of these propositions are related to the characteristics of those green categories that are found in the relationships. It is suggested that the tangibility level of green categories influences the occurrence of matches and mismatches in the relationships and the more tangible a green category is, the higher is the likelihood of a match between supply and demand in that relationship. The opposite is also suggested, as well as the idea that the more relationship specific green categories are, the fewer the mismatches that appear in that relationship. The remaining four propositions relate to the potential connection between the type of relationship between LSPs and shippers and green matches and mismatches in their relationships. It is suggested that the closer a business relationship is, 1) the greater the number of green categories it has 2) the better green categories are communicated 3) the greater the number of matches compared to mismatches of green categories and 4) the higher the level of green category collaboration is.

Isaksson, Karin. "Logistics Service Providers going green : insights from the Swedish market." Licentiate thesis, Linköpings universitet, Logistik, 2012. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-73991.

Abstract:
During recent years pressures on the logistics and transport industry to involve and engage more in environmental work have increased. Governmental awareness of environmental impact has led to an increased pressure on the logistics and transport industry to reduce the emissions incurred by their operations. In addition, customers have become more interested and demanding regarding green initiatives in their purchasing of transport services. Although logistics service providers (LSPs) are becoming more aware of environmental problems, the development of green initiatives in the logistics and transport industry is described in the literature as being in its infancy phase. Considering the scarcity of studies on LSPs’ green initiatives, a study that reveals potential factors influencing the adoption of green initiatives may be helpful to fill the knowledge gap and provide opportunities for further research in this field. The purpose of this licentiate thesis is therefore to describe how different factors can affect the adoption of green initiatives among LSPs, and how the adoption of green initiatives can be reflected in the service offering. This includes identifying different kinds of triggers, drivers and barriers, as well as firm characteristics and describing how these factors can affect the adoption of green initiatives. Furthermore, ways in which the adoption of green initiatives can be reflected in the service offering are exemplified in order to answer the second part of the purpose. The theoretical base in this licentiate thesis can be linked to general environmental logistics literature, sustainable service, and product development research. The research in this study is in its nature explorative and empirical data have been obtained from a cross case study of six companies, and a survey study investigating LSPs active on the Swedish market. Based on the findings from the analysis, the LSPs studied have commenced to adopt green initiatives since they experience the pressure to adapt to future expectations and, understand the consequences. This will enable the LSPs to respond to the increasing and more global competition. Although increased competiveness seems to act as a trigger, the role of competitors as a driver affecting the adoption of green initiatives among LSPs are neither stressed in the case study nor singled out in the survey study as a significant driver. Increased, interest from customers and decisions from top management are both highlighted as triggers for LSPs to start adopting green initiatives, in the literature as well as among the LSPs studied. The role of customers and top management also seem to be prominent drivers in the further green development. By adopting green initiatives, LSPs strive to win new customers and there is also a desire to improve customer relationships. Furthermore, the engagement and support from top management can be crucial for how successfully the adoption of green initiatives is integrated into the company and received by the employees. In addition, among the LSPs studied, their employees can be considered as an essential driver and a resource when adopting green initiatives.

Abstract:
Turkey is an important logistics transport center between Asia, The Middle East and Europe. If this position is evaluated correctly, it will be a big contribution to the economy of the country by increasing the market share. In order to provide and sustain logistic quality in an increasingly competitive environment, it should be ensured that logistic services are performed more effectively and efficiently via analyzing faults/problems in detail and eliminating root causes of these. In logistics sector, especially in the case of cold chain logistics involving the transport of perishable products such as food, medicine, chemicals, etc., the rejects/ fines constitute on a large-scale rate. Companies, in the case of deliveries that are outside the expectations of the companies or contrary to their contracts, they either return the goods or take delivery by punishing. In this study, the causes of these logistics/delivery factors, effecting negatively the country’s economy were researched, and suggested important solutions by analyzed with the Theory of Constraints - Thinking Processes approach. These proposals for the characteristic solutions for cold chain logistics, if applied in the institutions and companies concerned with the logistic sector in the whole country, it is expected that will obtain the savings of the costs coming from penalty/reject applications in the country’s economy, and beyond this it is expected that will get the additional earnings from the increased market share by increasing the customer satisfaction.

Abstract:
Along with the rapidly developing industrialization and technology, companies have moved to markets outside the regions they usually serve and have tried to supply different regions of the world. This trend has been increasing day by day and the world has transformed into a single market. With this globalization process, the trade volume between the countries and the continents has reached unprecedented numbers which has directly affected the logistics industry. It is a challenging process to move such a large volume of goods between countries and continents safely and quickly. It also significantly affects the cost of doing business. For these reasons, logistics processes need to be managed efficiently and effectively which in turn ensures competitive advantage. Thus, logistics process efficiency and effectiveness have gained importance and a need to measure logistics performance has emerged. The World Bank has started to publish the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) every two years by measuring the logistics performances of the countries using a set of six criteria. This study examines the logistics performances of Central Asian Turkish Republics (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) within the scope of Logistics Performance Index (LPI). In addition, the logistics performances of these countries were compared with the performances of the countries in the same region.

Abstract:
The Illinois Marine Transportation System (IMTS) is a key component of the nation’s inland waterway system. IMTS is comprised of 27 locks and dams, 19 port districts, more than 350 active terminals, and 1,118 miles of navigable inland waterways traversing along the borderline or within the state of Illinois. However, the infrastructure of IMTS is aging and its conditions are deteriorating. To monitor the performance of IMTS and guide infrastructure investment to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability of the system, a comprehensive performance measurement program is needed. To this end, the objective of this project is to create an integrated, comprehensive, and maintainable database that facilitates performance measurement of maritime freight to, from, and through Illinois. To achieve this objective, a review of the literature on maritime freight transportation both in the United States and abroad was performed. To gauge practitioners’ points of view, a series of phone interviews and online surveys of Illinois’ neighboring state DOT officials, officials from the US Army Corps of Engineers, Illinois port district authorities, and carriers operating in Illinois was also conducted. With the findings from the literature review and an understanding of state DOT practices, the needed and available data sources for a maritime freight performance measurement program were identified. Building on all the above efforts, a first-of-its-kind PM database for IMTS was designed and developed, along with a detailed user manual, ready for IDOT’s immediate use and future updates. In addition, opportunities for IDOT to use the database to conduct analysis are discussed. Key programmatic recommendations that outline the role of IDOT as a champion and as a facilitator are further included. The outcome of this project will help IDOT gain much-needed knowledge of and develop programs to improve IMTS performance, increase multimodal transportation network capacity, and expand the transportation and logistics sector of the state, which ultimately benefit the people and economy of Illinois.

Abstract:
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity affecting our ability to deliver energy, transport, logistics, water, sanitation, and communications services. Investment for climate-resilient infrastructure is at the core of the IDB Groups agenda. In particular, nature-based Solutions (NbS) are a cost-effective way to build infrastructure resilient to climate change while delivering societal benefits. As many LAC governments and businesses are unaware of the opportunities and cost-efficiencies of NbS, setting out the business case for these solutions is an important first step to build support and secure funding. This Market Assessment examines how NbS can contribute to climate-resilient infrastructure through the protection, management, and restoration of natural capital. It examines existing barriers and the opportunities to increase private sector use of NbS focusing on the role of policy in NbS uptake; awareness, governance, and capacity; technical tools and skills to deliver NbS; and finance and funding. It provides recommendations for infrastructure project developers and operators, financial institutions, and policymakers to create a more enabling environment for NbS in LAC.
