Abstract:
The formation of the digital economy and the information society requires a revision of traditional concepts of business management. The growth of the assortment and nomenclature of material values, a complication of their accounting reflection in the enterprises of logistics business necessitates the implementation of a new logistics system of chaotic storage. The article substantiates the expediency of the evolutionary replacement of the technology of automated identification of material values (bar code for radio frequency) in the conditions of organization of warehousing on the principles of chaotic storage, which requires improvement of accounting at modern enterprises. The purpose of the scientific research is to develop organizational and methodological provisions for the accounting of material values at the warehouses of enterprises in the conditions of implementation of a logistic system of chaotic storage and the use of radio frequency identification technology to optimize the automated warehouse management. The experience of the chaotic storage of material values by Amazon Corporation and the systematization of literature sources for the introduction of a new concept of logistics flow management showed the lack of scientifically reasoned proposals and practical developments in the automation of accounting of storage and movement of material values. The peculiarities of the organization of accounting and management of the movement of material values in the logistic system of chaotic storage are investigated in the article. The documentation procedure and documenting the logistical operations of the movement of material values using radio frequency identification technology have been developed. The technique of inventory control over the storage of inventory objects in the conditions of automation of warehouse management has been improved. The choice of the method of the identified estimation of receipt and disposal of material values for optimization of the warehouse stocks of the enterprises in the logistic system of chaotic storage is substantiated. The practical significance of the conducted research lies in the possibility of implementing a logistic system of chaotic storage with the use of technology of radio frequency identification of material values at enterprises, which will provide: automated without the direct participation of accounting personnel collecting accounting data on the movement and storage of material values; permanent automated inventory of objects to control their storage; optimization of management of logistic processes based on the use of robots-conveyors for the automated movement of inventory from warehouse positions to destinations; electronic documentation and documentation procedure in the warehouse accounting system of enterprises; reducing inventory levels with lost consumer value (shelf life) or low market demand, etc. The results of the study may be useful for enterprises that are focused on innovative management techniques, regardless of ownership, size of the business, or industry. Abstract:
This article examines the current state of warehouse logistics, which is characterized by the use of automated technologies and software for work performed in the warehouse to reduce logistics costs. Automation of all types of warehouses increases the cost of warehouse operations by automating small, repetitive tasks, allowing workers to focus on more complex tasks. The development of information technologies and the use of modern technology expand the possibilities of improving the efficiency of the warehouse. The warehouse robotics industry includes several types of warehouse robots that serve different purposes and functions, such as filling orders and moving inventory in a warehouse, etc. One of the types of warehouse robotics that we consider in this article are vehicles with automatic control technology AGV (Automatic guided vehicle). The AGV technology is based on an automatic trolley, an electric tool that transports goods from place to place. Since the trolley is controlled automatically, maintenance of the trolley does not require a separate operator-the trolleys move along a given trajectory in isolated conditions without the need for human labor. In addition to the need to maintain the required product quality, the use of AGV has the following advantages: reducing the number of personnel, especially high-quality and responsible transport operators, ensuring occupational safety, minimizing damage caused by product damage, since all movements of vehicles with automatic control can be precisely programmed.

Abstract:
Perfect order rate (POR) is one of the superior measures of the logistics processes quality. POR is at the top of the hierarchy of key performance indicators (KPI) in supply chain and is considered as difficult to define and measure. Perfect order rate is composed of sub-measures touching technical, economic, quality and safety aspects of logistics processes. POR directly defines what the organization considers to be the perfect implementation of its tasks (and thus sets goals for the organization) and, secondly, measures the degree of achievement of these goals. The paper defines the concept of perfect order rate by including new elements to classic definition, so far rarely considered in the literature: possibility of order implementation according to standard procedures in organization and safety aspects. The concept of logistics chain and the impact of its functioning on the POR value have been defined. The picking and replenishment processes were discussed in detail as the basic elements affecting the quality of logistics processes and the value of POR. Next, the issues of logistic processes safety in warehouse facilities were discussed. The large intensity of warehouse operations along with their mechanization and automation very often leads to many hazards in warehouses and logistics chain. These hazard are usually related with warehouse workers safety. However, they can also lead to various delays or downtime in the material flows, as well as damage or reducing the quality of materials. So it was assumed that safety aspects can influencing the value of POR in the logistics chain. Due to conducted research and compiled reports indicate that many accidents in the warehouse are associated with the forklifts use as equipment for material handling. Therefore, in paper main attention was paid to hazards related with forklifts, warehouse safety speed, etc.

Abstract:
Sandvik Rock Tools is operating in a highly competitive market. This requires them to constantly improve the efficiency of their organization, in order for them to maintain their position as market leaders, both in a short-term and a long-term perspective. Sandvik Rock Tools is currently working on developing and further improving their supply chain. The supply chain is a key organizational function and improvements of the supply chain aim to yield benefits like lowered total costs and better utilized inventory levels. The purpose of our work has been to develop the supply chain between Sandvik’s in-market warehouse and their customer site at Dannemora. The main focus of this thesis has been to enable automatic data collection and to lower the stock levels at the customer site in Dannemora. This would be accomplished by improving the information flow between the two entities in the observed supply chain and by enabling real-time inventory information, easily accessible to the warehouse manager. A barcode system was implemented in the warehouse at the Dannemora customer site and was integrated with warehouse management software that was developed by the authors. The implemented barcode system and the warehouse management software were used at the Dannemora customer site for a period of two months. The effects of the implemented barcode system working in combination with the warehouse management software were observed in several operational areas after implementation, and the results were positive and beneficial. Firstly, the barcode system and warehouse management software simplified the warehouse manager’s decision process, by providing easy access to necessary warehouse management information, like realtime inventory information. Secondly, it made the day-to-day work routine of the warehouse manager easier, this being the case because the barcode system that had been implemented had digitalized and automated many tasks that had previously been performed manually by warehouse manager. An excellent example would be the simplified process for order placement and stocktaking. Thirdly, it improved the information flow between the Dannemora customer site and Sandvik’s in-market warehouse in Sandviken, thereby improving the overall effectiveness of the entire supply chain, through shared information. The barcode implementation successfully lowered inventory levels by six percent on average.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of the study is to identify critical constraints in the inbound process at a distribution warehouse. To accomplish the purpose two research questions were formulated: Which critical constraints can occur in the material flow in the inbound process at a distribution warehouse? How can the identified constraints be excluded in the inbound process? Method – The study was performed inductively, and the data collection techniques were interviews, observations, document studies and literature studies. A single case study was performed at a distribution warehouse and the empirical data and theories were compared to accomplish the purpose of the study. Findings – The result of the study demonstrates that the critical constraints in the inbound process at a distribution warehouse are space, material handling, automatic systems and warehouse layout. The conclusion of the study is that the constraints are connected and affect each other since they are all included in the same process. To exclude the constraints different types of standards should be implemented in the inbound process, and distribution warehouses should work with continuous improvements. Implications – The study does not contribute to new theories but can be practically beneficial for distribution warehouses similar to the studies case study. Limitations – The study only focuses on one distribution warehouse and is therefore a single case study. The generalizability could have been higher if the study had been conducted at multiple distribution warehouses.

Abstract:
A warehouse is an indispensable part of the logistics. A warehouse management system (WMS) is designed to improve efficiency in warehouses to increase their throughput and potential. The rise of IoT and its commercialization enabled ‘smart things' to be widely adopted by hobbyists and companies. Cheap sensors and smart devices triggered better automation opportunities. Many devices and sensors that are being deployed in the industry and warehousing are affected by this trend. A well-designed WMS is needed to connect devices and humans in a heterogenous warehouse environment. This chapter introduces a prototype of a WMS powered by a decision support system (DSS) based on real-life requirements. In order to have fast, reliable, and efficient decision making in warehousing, the importance of employing DSS in the WMS is emphasized. Warehouse-related IoT technology is briefly introduced, and its security considerations are discussed thoroughly. The main contribution of this chapter is to show how warehouse operations can be modeled in business process model notation and executed in a DSS.

Abstract:
Radio frequency identification is an automatic identification technology that is used in various applications. Despite many academic and theoretical studies have been conducted about this technology only few of these studies have concentrated on application problems in real life. Therefore many of these theoretical studies cannot be of help to practitioners directly. In this study to realize such an objective, in order to price forklift operations used in handling operations in logistics warehouse management a new approach that works with RFID technology is presented. The proposed model has been used in tracking of forklift movements at the warehouse of a firm active in logistics sector and has been tested. Abstract:
Radio frequency identification is an automatic identification technology that is used in various applications. Despite the many academic and theoretical studies that have been conducted about this technology, only a few of these studies have concentrated on application problems in real life. Therefore, many of these theoretical studies cannot be of help to practitioners directly. In this study, to realize such an objective, in order to price forklift operations used in handling operations in logistics warehouse management, a new approach that works with RFID technology is presented. The proposed model has been used in tracking of forklift movements at the warehouse of a firm active in the logistics sector and has been tested. Abstract:
With global megatrends like automation and digitization changing societies, economies, and ultimately businesses, shift is underway, disrupting current business plans and entire industries. Business actors have accordingly developed an instinctive fear of economic decline and realized the necessity of taking adequate measures to keep up with the times. Increasingly, organizations find themselves in an evolve-or-die race with their success depending on their capability of recognizing the requirements for serving a specific market and adopting those requirements accurately into their own structure. In the transportation and logistics sector, emerging technological and information challenges are reflected in fierce competition from within and outside. Especially, processes and supporting information systems are put to the test when technological innovation start to spread among an increasing number of actors and promise higher performance or lower cost. As to warehousing, technological innovation continuously finds its way into the premises of the heterogeneous warehouse operators, leading to modifications and process improvements. Such innovation can be at the side of the hardware equipment or in the form of new software solutions. Particularly, the fourth industrial revolution is globally underway. Same applies to Future Internet technologies, a European term for innovative software technologies and the research upon them. On the one hand, new hardware solutions using robotics, cyber-physical systems and sensors, and advanced materials are constantly put to widespread use. On the other one, software solutions based on intensified digitization including new and more heterogeneous sources of information, higher volumes of data, and increasing processing speed are also becoming an integral part of popular information systems for warehouses, particularly for warehouse management systems. With a rapidly and dynamically changing environment and new legal and business requirements towards processes in the warehouses and supporting information systems, new performance levels in terms of quality and cost of service are to be obtained. For this purpose, new expectations of the functionality of warehouse management systems need to be derived. While introducing wholly new solutions is one option, retrofitting and adapting existing systems to the new requirements is another one. The warehouse management systems will need to deal with more types of data from new and heterogeneous data sources. Also, it will need to connect to innovative machines and represent their respective operating principles. In both scenarios, systems need to satisfy the demand for new features in order to remain capable of processing information and acting and, thereby, to optimize logistics processes in real time. By taking a closer look at an industrial use case of a warehouse management system, opportunities of incorporating such new requirements are presented as the system adapts to new data types, increased processing speed, and new machines and equipment used in the warehouse. Eventually, the present paper proves the adaptability of existing warehouse management systems to the requirements of the new digital world, and viable methods to adopt the necessary renovation processes.
