Abstract:
Cognitive therapy has traced the links between the meaning of experience and emotional response but has neglected people’s appraisals of their meaning in the world. Logotherapy, in contrast, was developed specifically to explicate the phenomenon of meaning. This discussion criticizes logotherapy’s explanation of meaning and argues that the basic principles of cognitive theory suffice to explain emotional responses to existential thinking. The appraisal of life’s meaning is analyzed, and the implications for cognitive therapy of people’s beliefs about life’s meaning are reported.

The paper outlines the concept of family logotherapy in relation to systemic family therapy, popular in Poland. The basic philosophical and anthropological assumptions of Frankl’s logotherapy, and thus the phenomenon of free will, as well as the will to make sense and to find the meaning of life are discussed. Referring to the systemic family therapy dominant in the Polish discourse, the basic assumptions, goals and structure of family logotherapy are presented, according to which the conscious values, senses and meanings of individual members shape the pattern of interactions within the family.

Abstract:
The article is based on both theory and research. The goal is to analyze selected aspects of the concepts of logotherapy and logotheory by Viktor E. Frankl, in terms of their use in developing programs for the prevention of risky behavior of children and adolescents. The subject of research is logotherapy. This concept provides a theoretical framework for creating programs for prevention of risky behavior. The main research problem boils down to the following question: Is logotherapy applicable, and to what extent, as the theoretical basis in the new concept of risk behavior prevention? The research method is a source analysis of data obtained through a selective search and a qualitative interview with the author of the first risk behavior prevention program in Poland based on the principles of logotherapy. After introducing the ideas of logotherapy, the author describes its key concept: the meaning of life in the process of human development and upbringing. She then discusses selected principles and techniques of logotherapy as the theoretical underpinning of logoprophylaxis. In the next section, she cites the practical application of logotheory and logotherapy in social prevention, using the example of the prevention program “Cuder: Live With Meaning” run by the “Archezja” Educational Support Foundation.

Abstract:
This study focused on Viktor E. Frankl's major concepts and the therapeutic techniques which emerge from his theory of logotherapy. The purpose of this study was threefold: (a) to examine the philosophy and human nature as set forth by logotherapy, (b) to explore the relevance of logotherapy to Taiwanese culture and (c) to inquire what contributions logotherapy could make to the mental health of the Taiwanese community abroad and in the United States. In order to achieve these purposes, a survey was conducted to investigate the compatibility between logotherapy and traditional Chinese philosophies, Confucianism and Taoism. The survey suggested that logotherapeutic orientation was helpful and relevant to cross-cultural counseling. Its holistic worldview made it easier for cultural integration. The survey also supported that there were closed relationship and compatibility between logotherapy and traditional Chinese philosophies. The will to meaning, the basic tenet of logotherapy, has also been a central motivation in the Taoist and Confucian way of life. All three philosophies have shared understanding of human freedom and responsibility. They have also shared the techniques which were employed in the case studies to effect the cure. Guidelines for counselors involved in cross-cultural counseling and psychotherapy were developed from the survey and presented in a practitioner's guide to logotherapy. The procedures and techniques were applied with great caution for they could have been counter-productive if not applied appropriately. A further research and validation of the techniques are needed.

Abstract:
This narrative articulates the advantages of long-term autoethnographic logotherapy. I explore how the practice of long-term autoethnographic logotherapy led me to the point where I was prepared for my father’s death, and how that allowed me to let him go before he actually died. I propose that long-term personal narrative and autoethnographic writing are not merely a form of therapy and healing. Rather, it is a practice aligned with existential psychologist Victor Frankl’s conception of logotherapy, literally “healing through meaning.” Using vignettes, I interrogate canonical narratives about father–son relationships, especially focusing on troubled relationships, and examine standard notions of bereavement.

Thesis (MA)--University of Stellenbosch, 2000.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to measure the influence of a logotherapy activity, the mountain range exercise on the purpose in life and values of Grade 11 scholars of a specific culture community in the Western Cape. Two research hypotheses were formulated; firstly, that the logotherapy activity will help to heighten the meaning in the lives of Grade 11 scholars and, secondly, that the logotherapy activity would influence the values of Grade 11 scholars. The fifty-nine subjects used in the study were Grade 11 scholars at Macassar High School in the Western Cape. The subjects were divided into an experimental and control group. Two questionnaires were used in the study: the Purpose in Life-test (PIL) and the Allport-Vernon-Lindzey Study of Values (AVL). After the experimental group completed the logotherapy activity they were divided into four discussion groups, each group consisting of seven or eight subjects. The groups underwent two discussion sessions. The experimental group completed the logotherapy activity and a post-test was carried out on both groups. Results showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group on the Purpose in Life-test. The first research hypotheses is hereby supported; that is the implementation of the logotherapy activity heighten the meaning in the lives of the experimental group. The pre-test and post-test results of the experimental group differed significantly with regard to the economic value. The second research hypotheses is hereby supported, that is, the implementation of the logotherapy activity will influence the values of Grade 11 scholars.
With so many changes and concerns raised by the so-called postmodern, many senses of values and socio-cultural determinations in crisis before the interpellation marked by neoliberal notion of commodity. Abstract:
The present work has as theme the importance of the presence of meaning in Geography‟s classes. Our analytical delimitation is based on the relationship of meaning as a facilitator or not of the teaching-learning process in Geography. The investigative path applies the Complexity‟s Paradigm as a challenge for understanding of the world based on Qualitative Research Techniques. The lenses of this research are projected from the study of Geographic Space, Landscape and of Place. The research has as initial concern the study of methodological ways that enable the sense‟s perception in the classes, through the creation, experience and attitude of the students, in order that we have epistemological clarity to seek approximations with demands of the Geography teaching‟s area. From this, we problematize the challenges that find in the classrooms, the proximities that this science can possess with the study of meaning and we investigate the possibilities that favor a large attribution of the same on the part of the students. We have like contributions of the psychoanalytic line named Logotherapy, it was developed by the Viennese psychotherapist Viktor E. Frankl (2008), his work aims at overcoming the difficulties from the encounter with the sense that the subjects attribute to their lives. After these theoretical approaches, we show pedagogical activities, based on the contributions of Logotherapy, in Geography‟s Teaching and the Piaget Genetics‟ Epistemology by Piaget (1974), which we consider as showing elements that favor the attribution of meaning by subjects involved in their classes and allow knowledge‟s construction. The work indicates the necessity to rethink our practices, so our classes can come to the meeting of life of those who study Geography, and these students develop analysis‟ ability, reflection and knowledge‟s application studied to life.

Were described his biography and his work and conducted a thematic analysis from fourteen of his books chosen due to their correlation with the purpose of the research. Frankl's ideas were investigated in chronological course of their work, and possible extensions in regard to the subject were averaged and displayed through five topics "God", "Faith", "Religion", "Religiousness" and "Psychotherapy and Religiosity." Finally, spelled out the understandings reached and final considerations. Frankl believes humans broadly, total single, integrated. His anthropological perspective cooperates directly to a performance that includes psychotherapy patients beyond reductionism and consider their existential possibilities. Such possibilities unfold through the capabilities of self-transcendence, consciousness, freedom and responsibility, and aid in discovery of the meaning of life by conducting creative values, experiential and attitudinal. Among such existential possibilities of the human being appreciated for Logotherapy, religiosity can be considered as a potential that arises spontaneously and is also configured from religious and cultural contexts. For Frankl, psychotherapy can legitimately occupy the religious because it relates to the deepest dimension of the human being and the positions he takes over the world and that it is when there is a free choice and responsible attitudes marked by intuition of his consciousness, which sets religiosity as one of the possibilities for gift of life sense. Therefore, the therapist must help the patient accept and considering it in its entirety and conserving open to receive their experiences, including those that are marked by religiosity, the natural and personal relationships with the sacred, linked to its inherent search for meaning, can derive the discovery of meaning to their existence and to promote their quality of life

Abstract:
This research aims at investigating the meaning of life in the adolescence. And the objectives to be achieved were: to discuss present questions relative to adolescence; to analyse core questions of Logotherapy, proposed by Viktor Frankl, and to investigate empirically the meaning of life in adolescence. In the research made ex post facto, five conjectures have been submitted to corroboration, relative to adolescence, sex, school confessional orientation, and the meaning of life. The participants were 230 students aged between 16 and 18, of those 91 males and 139 females, all of them attending public and private high schools in the city of Petropolis, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Two public schools have been selected, one belonging to the state and the other to the municipality and also four private schools, two laic and two confessional private high schools which cater for students belonging to middle class and the upper middle class. We have used the Logo-test, originally devised by Elizabeth Lucas, as an instrument for measuring the meaning of life of the participants. Of the five conjectures that have been tested, two have been corroborated: the fact that there is no significant difference among male and female adolescents, and that there is no significant difference in the meaning of life among adolescents attending public schools and private laic schools. Furthermore it has been observed that the average marks obtained by all groups of participants belong to the rank of psychic stability, without any risk of noogenous neurosis or noogenous depression.

Abstract:
The article considers the period of the person's life after 40 years, when the person achieved his important goals. He graduated, has the professional experience, started a family, the children have grown up and started their adult, independent life, he built a house, planted a tree, and this is the moment, when the person meets with his own life tasks, there is a need to answer meaning-forming questions. This period is characterized by such existential experiences as confusion, a sense of emptiness, loneliness, experiencing one's own uselessness, fear of old age, fatigue from life, irreconcilability with one's own age, etc. We analyze the problems of this crisis from the point of view of meaningful psychotherapy (logotherapy) Victor Frankl, based on objectivity of meaning, voluminous view of personality, relying on the spiritual aspect of man and on opening up new possibilities in any situation.
