In some specific confidential occasions where Wi-Fi communication needs to be completely disabled, the interference device needs to meet the requirements of energy saving, portability, and long-distance interference. Motivated by this issue, we present and evaluate Legacy Short Training Field (L-STF) jamming attack, whereby a sender device determines the channel busy despite good channel conditions. In an L-STF attack, the attacker can generate L-STF signals and send signals continuously on the target channel. We implement the L-STF jamming attack on an SDR platform and evaluate the effectiven

Abstract:
AbstractMobile network connectivity enables individuals to use various Internet-based applications and is nowadays an integral part of the physical environment. More specifically, this connectivity shapes individuals’ modes of gathering information and their communication capabilities. In turn, this impacts the individual’s decision-making and, in the long term, may influence their health and quality of life (QoL). This chapter focuses on longitudinal modeling of the availability of mobile connectivity such as Wi-Fi and 3G or 4G for individuals living in the Geneva area (Switzerland). We analyze connectivity over 5 years (2015–2020) based on data collected from 110 mQoL (mobile QoL) Living Lab participants. The participants are from three different cohorts corresponding to distinct data collection periods (2015–2017, 2018–2019, 2020). We derive four features that quantify an individual’s connectivity level: the network access technology (Wi-Fi or cellular), signal strength, the overall data consumption (upload and download), and the participants’ mobility patterns while connected. We also compare the connectivity levels of the three cohorts over time. Our findings reflect the relations between mobile connectivity and the smartphone network activity of the mQoL study cohorts during their daily activities, which may impact their QoL. We summarize the results and conclude this chapter by exploring the different QoL technologies and services enabled by mobile connectivity. However, the effects of connectivity on specific QoL domains, such as psychological aspects (i.e., positive/negative feelings) or social relationships, should be investigated further.

Abstract:
Wireless communication plays an essential role in daily life and industry. For stable communication, pointing the antenna of the receiver in the optimal direction becomes crucial, especially in activity recognition through Wi-Fi sensing. In Wi-Fi sensing, receiver parameters such as antenna angles have traditionally been determined through calibration involving installed Wi-Fi transmitters and receivers. Knowing the received signal strength for each direction in advance would eliminate or minimize the need for calibration efforts. To address this problem, we propose Calibration-less Wi-Fi sensing with NeRF2 (CAWN), a method that estimates the optimal receiver antenna direction for Wi-Fi sensing by adapting NeRF2 to Wi-Fi environments. While NeRF2 has proven effective only for long-wavelength radio waves, we investigate its application to 5-GHz Wi-Fi short-wavelength radio waves and evaluates its effectiveness in activity recognition using Wi-Fi sensing.

Abstract:
The development of capable smartphones and other portable devices has ushered new ways of communication and collaboration. For example, smartphones are widely used for sharing files with friends and colleagues at meeting or a conference. In this case, conventionally, short-range radio, such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi are used. Encrypted data can be send via Bluetooth radio and be received by any devices in a 10m distance. In public places, this increases the likelihood of security breach and communication eavesdrop as the data may be intercepted by any device within range. In this paper, we propose to improve security by controlling the communication range via acoustic waves. Unlike radio waves, acoustic waves' propagation range can be controlled by modifying their amplitude; thus, it is possible to reduce the data sharing range specifically to a range of a specific device. Our preliminary tests by sharing data between two Nexus 5 smartphones indicate that it is possible to unidirectional control the sharing range while sharply reducing any possibility to eavesdrop on the communication. This increased the communication security since only devices within the specified range and direction were aware of the data sharing.

This paper proposes an antipoaching system using NodeMCU based wireless system that uses 3- axis MEMS accelerometer (GY-61) and tilt sensor for detecting the falling of trees due to cutting of trees or natural calamities and Flame sensor, fire retardant for detecting and controlling the fire. In this project we use NodeMCU which has an inbuilt Wi-Fi module which covers a distance of around 300m range, is used in this project for cost efficiency and also NodeMCU enables the communication with neighbor nodes like client and server nodes. This protocol is used to monitor the trees even using a single node from the server system. The solenoid valve is used to spray the fire retardant to control the fire. Some IOT modules can also be used in this system to provide accurate information and remote monitoring of trees.

Abstract:
Video-based chat has become an increasingly popular communication paradigm. This type of connection involves video, voice and message exchanges that require high data rate transmissions and may lead to long delays due to the huge amount of information bits involved. If transmission rates are not high enough, video quality is reduced and important elements in communication, such as the expression of emotions, may be lost. We have observed that some emotion detection and recognition techniques rely on simplified code representations that could enable representing key images or videos by using much smaller file sizes. In this paper, we investigate the combination of emotion detection and wireless transmission techniques so that the encoded video with emotion representations can be transmitted over low data rate wireless networks. Various tools and applications may be employed to convert the real-time emotions of the sender to codes, each representing a specific emotion state of the sender. Consequently the file size of a video can be reduced to a few coded Kbytes. We then transmit the encoded file over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless networks and compare the latency of different video files with and without emotion encoding. Experimental results show that significant reduction in latency has been achieved using the emotion encoded video files.

Development of Swarm Bot for Defence and Medical Application Design of Swarm bot is an initiative towards the synchronized performance of multiple bots as a total system consisting huge numbers of plain real-time bots. It is observed that an expected groupwise behavior is expressed from the interactions between the bots and the master device. The head posture movement is used to send the signal from the master device to communicate the slave devices. This methodology has come out in the field of artificial swarm intelligence, as well as the bio-inspired researches of insects and other fields in nature with the occurrence of swarm behavior. This process depends on the master-slave concept to operate the whole system. The wireless communication utilizes the SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) protocol with radio waves in the range of 2.4-2.5 GHz. The ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band is used for the communication purpose. Development of Verticle Climbing Camouflage Surveillance Bot Scientists are trying to make vehicles that can move through both vertical and horizontal planes simultaneously for a long time. Moving against gravity makes it very difficult because of wheel spin in a steeply inclined surface plane. In this paper, we are dealing with the design and development of a WI-FI controlled bot that can move on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. The air suction technique is used to hold the bot on a vertically inclined surface. This paper presents the design and development of a wall climbing bot using an ESP32 CAM microcontroller. The wall climbing feature is achieved by using a 2200kv BLDC motor and 600 mm propeller. When the propeller is rotated using the BLDC motor, the propeller sucks the air underneath the robot, creating a vacuum. As a result, outside air pressure works on the robot and makes it stick to the horizontal surface. The robot`s movement is done by using 4 100 RPM dc motors. The motors are connected to the ESP32 microcontroller via motor driver L298N and can be manually controlled using any ESP32 Android/IOS mobile application. We have used the TCS3200 colour sensor and RGB LED lights to change the colour of the body as per the surroundings. The robot can be used for any surveillance purposes from general surveillance purposes to surveillance of hostile areas.
