The first chapter titled "Energy Consumption, GDP per capita and Exports: Evidence of long-term causality in a panel for the Brazilian States" analyzes the order of causality between the variables and then checks the long-term elasticities using the methodology FMOLS. The research examines the effect between corporate governance and company-specific variables to financial performance among a sample of long-term insurance companies in South Africa from 2011 to 2016. The study employed a panel regression technique using board size, board independence, audit committee size and CEO tenure as proxies for corporate governance while controlling for firm size, reinsurance usage and leverage. In this paper we use the long-term empirical relationship among primary energy consumption, real income, physical capital, population and technology, obtained by averaged panel error correction models, to project the long-term primary energy consumption of 56 countries up to 2100. This paper examines the short and long-term interdependencies between stock prices and dividends. I utilize firm level data from FTSE ALL SHARE from 1990-2014 and apply panel vector error correction model estimated with Engle & Grangers (1987) two-step procedure. The results show that there is a bi-directional long-term relationship between stock prices and dividends, i.e. an adjustment process is at work when a disequilibrium occurs. This paper analyzes what factors influence the long-term interest rate, in order to give an understanding of why the government debt has increased in EU member states. It is a statistical study of panel data analyzed by the fixed effect model. The research of the 27 EU member states is based on secondary data from the European Commission; Eurostat and EconStats. Health is one of the most important components of human capital. It can affect production level of a country through various channels. In this study the causal relationship of health and real GDP per capita income in 5 low income countries of Africa south of the Sahara is analyzed using granger causality test.
