Abstract:
Three recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) beam-column interior-joint specimens (including two modified recycled aggregate concrete interior joints with replacement of fly ash ratio of 15%) were tested under cyclic loading in order to study the bond behavior of the longitudinal steel bar at RAC joint. The tests obtained load-strain hysteresis curves of longitudinal bars. The relative bond strength of longitudinal bar in characteristic stages was calculated. The test results indicated that the longitudinal steel bar in RAC joint is able to supply a stable bond stress both in the full crack stage a

Abstract:
Fracture toughness, stress-strain relation and the damping characteristics of bamboo are investigated. The fracture toughness of bamboo in tearing along the longitudinal direction is measured by the use of newly devised apparatus in which the crack opening displacement is controlled in a constant velocity and a quasi-steady extension of the crack is maintained. The stress-strain relation of bamboo is examined in a reversible elastic range using a conventional tensile test in the longitudinal direction. Repeated tensile loading tests show that the stress-strain relation has a strong non-linear

Ten cadaveric specimens underwent biomechanical assessment on a motorized jig with an in-built torque sensor. A differential variable reluctance transducer was placed on the central bundle of the interosseous membrane to detect changes in strain. Torque was measured with an intact interosseous membrane and a sectioned central bundle of the interosseous membrane. Changes in strain and torque were plotted against the degree of rotation of the cadaveric forearms. We found that the overall magnitude of strain to be greatest in pronation and smallest in supination. However, the relative displacemen

The mechanical performance of China Railway Track System type II (CRTS II) ballastless track suitable for High-Speed Railway (HSR) bridges is investigated in this project by testing a one-quarter-scaled three-span specimen under thermal loading. Stress analysis was performed both experimentally and numerically, via finite-element modeling in the latter case. The results showed that strains in the track slab, in the cement-emulsified asphalt (CA) mortar and in the track bed, increased nonlinearly with the temperature increase. Background: The clinical approval of speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) as an accepted measure of myocardial strain and of LV function is hindered by the discordance of the results among the vendors. Since echocardiography images are noisy, the measured displacements are smoothed or regularized, an operation affecting the strain results. We introduce an “Error-dependent weighted speckle tracking” (EWST) algorithm that allows sensitivity analysis to the different operations affecting noise and accuracy. The aim here was to study whether by modifying the properties of the post block-matchin

Three types of reinforcing methods to enhance the anchorage performance of beam and column longitudinal reinforcing bars were studied based on the experimental results such as the load-displacement relation curves, deformation capacity, prestressing force variation, and strain measurements of the beam and column reinforcing bars. Introduction. An efficient technique of tensor field scalarization is successfully used while investigating tensor elastic fields of displacements, stresses and deformations in the layered structures of different materials, including transversally isotropic composites. These fields can be expressed through the scalar potentials corresponding to the quasi-longitudinal, quasi-transverse, and transverse-only waves. Such scalarization is possible if the objects under consideration are tensors relating to the subgroup of general coordinate conversions, when the local affine basis has one invariant
