Abstract:
The Lord’s Supper is a rite in the church. That rite is a remembering action of Jesus' incarnation, from His birth to His death and His resurrection. Usually, the Lord's Supper takes place and time in worship in the church. But during the Covid-19 pendemic the church was faced with the dilemma of carrying out the rite of the Lord’s Supper. So, this paper would like to explore and give an understanding of the alternatives to the implementation of the Lord's Supper when facing Covid-19 pendemi as it is today. In addition, this paper uses the meaning of the Lord's Supper as a foundation for the church to formulate its presence strategy in the world post-Covid-19.

Abstract:
The Lord’s Supper is probably one of the most vital elements in Christianity. However, churches nowadays witness two extreme attitudes in approaching the Lord’s Supper: one that over-sacralizes the ceremony as something mystical or magical while the other simply takes it as a ritual or memorial. While both notions are not wrong in some sense, the ceremony in fact falls somewhere in the middle. Eucharist involved two important dimensions: it is a meal, and it is a “sacrificial” meal. The ordinary and the religious aspects both exist within the eucharist. In the records of the Last Supper, Jesus ate the Passover “meal” with His disciples and reinstituted it. From then on, the early church celebrated the Lord’s Supper, gathering and breaking bread in houses, which was then known as agape—a love feast. However, what we witness in today’s Lord’s Supper is nowhere close to the original Last Supper or the early Christian agape feast. It becomes a ceremony without a meal; a celebration without a feast. It is ironic that the so-called “supper” only involves a wafer-like bread and a really small cup of wine. It is the absence of a “meal” that this ceremony becomes more and more detached. The Lord’s Supper becomes difficult to understand because of the emphasis on its sacredness. The ceremony remains a ritual as the “sacred” is separated from the “secular”. It is the contention of this study that the separation of the love feast from the ceremony of the Lord’s Supper that render it meaningless. This study aims to uncover the context and history of the Lord’s Supper, especially the significance of a feast or meal in the eucharist, and how it was lost in the course of history. We will see that it is in the context of a meal that the early church celebrates the eucharist, a thanksgiving in the form of a love feast. It is in the context of a meal that Jesus introduced His body and blood in the Last Supper. It is in the context of a meal that God commanded the Israelites to observe the Passover. When we approach the Lord’s Table without a proper meal, the eating of the “bread” and “wine” without context becomes a ritual without reality. Finally, suggestions are given to better approach the Lord’s Table, and hopefully regain the meaning and spirit of the ceremony.

Abstract:
In this article, Paul's remarks about the Corinthian Lord's Supper in 1 Cor 11:17–34 are discussed from the perspective of ritual studies, specifically from the perspective of ritual failure and ritual negotiation. After outlining the appertaining analytical models, drawing on the thought of Roland Grimes and scholars working in his footsteps, it is argued that 1 Cor 11:17–34 can well be understood as an argument arising from (perceived) ritual failure on the part of the Corinthians that fits a number of Grimesian categories. Next, it is argued that Paul seeks to correct, or rather “renegotiate,” the Corinthian ritual by drawing on the narrative that governs the ritual's significance. By analyzing 1 Cor 11:17–34 from this perspective, it is argued that it is highly likely that Paul's concerns, as he formulates them there, stem from a reconsideration of the meaning of the ritual of the Lord's Supper, prompted by ritual failure and given rise to a renewed formulation of the ritual's meaning and purpose. Thus, this article offers a more refined understanding of how the conflict over the Lord's Supper functions as a conflict over ritual and how Paul's remarks in 1 Cor 11:17–34 relate to specifically the ritual aspects of the Lord's Supper.

Abstract:
The Lord's Supper is one of the sacraments of the church and is an important part of the Christian liturgy. The author conducts research on the meaning of the Holy Communion so that he can find pedagogical implications in the Holy Communion. The research used is a literature analysis approach that uses various relevant literature sources. The pedagogical implications of the Lord's Supper concern the past, present and future. The meaning of the past means that the Lord's Supper is a reminder of Christ's sacrifice for believers. Today means that the Lord's Supper means sharing in enjoying the benefits of Christ’s death and fellowship with the members of the body of Christ, even Christ himself. The meaning of the future means that the Holy Communion is a guarantee of enjoying the Kingdom of Heaven and the great supper in the future. The Lord's Supper is an expression of hope for His return. Christ Jesus is the sure hope. Practically speaking, Holy Communion reminds us of the importance of fellowship with fellow members of the body of Christ. In 1640, the Remonstrants had liturgical forms for baptism and the Lord's Supper printed for the first time. This article takes a closer look at the words of administration at the Lord's Supper. In order to gain insight into the specific remonstrant position they are compared to the Reformed wording. This shows that the remonstrants placed particular emphasis on the Biblical justification of the wording used and on the connection with the London mother church and the first national synods in the Netherlands.

Abstract:
A wavemeter is being designed and developed as a subsystem to support the NASA LASE (Laser Atmospheric Sounding Experiment) ER-2 airborne project. The prime objective of this project is to use a DIAL remote sounding system with a pulsed tunable Alexandrite laser to measure vertical profiles of water vapor and aerosols. The technology to make the required wavelength centroid and wavelength profile measurements has been demonstrated by others in laboratory environments. The developmental effort in building this wavemeter is to operate within requirements inside the Q-bay environment of an ER-2 aircraft. In this environment, the temperature can vary from 15 to 40 degrees Celsius and the pressure can vary from 14.7 psi to 3.5 psi. The interferometers in the wavemeter must be isolated from this thermal and pressure variation. A thermally controlled housing and thermal vacuum chambers have been designed and brassboarded to demonstrate the required stability.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of external factors in gaining political power by pretenders to the throne in medieval society. The evolution of society was influenced by political power, by those who were in power. Our investigation is focused on the personality and reign of Alexandru Lapusneanu. The historical sources have registered the deterioration of the political situation in the Principality of Moldova in the middle of the 16th century. The Principality was in full process of changing the political and legal status when it comes to external politics. The context was even more complicated due to the discreditation of the Rares family by converting to Islam the Lord of Moldova - Ilie Rares. In this complicated political context, the boyar groups of various political orientation that did not have sufficient human and military potential turned to foreign aid in order to gain power. Alexandru Lapusneanu and his supporters were not an exception. Historical sources have recorded his special ability to balance between different external political options in order to preserve his Reign and not allow Moldova to be turned into a pasalac (Turkish administrative territorial unit). By offering support to obtain the throne, neighboring powers aimed to maintain the East-Carpathian space in the sphere of their influence. A careful analysis of the sources proves that the neighboring powers used the pretenders to the throne of Moldova. Granting political asylum was used as means of coercing the Lord on the throne, thus forcing him to act in accordance with their interests.

Abstract:
As the microelectronics industry continues to trend towards smaller, lighter, and higher power devices, thermal management is becoming more important than ever. Thermal interface materials (TIMs) play a crucial role in removing heat from both bare die and lidded packages. A serious challenge the industry has been facing is the lack of an agreed upon test standard that is specifically tailored for TIM thermal performance measurements between TIM suppliers and OEM customers. ASTM D 5470 is not necessarily the best gauge for TIMs in-application performance. Data generated by the OEM often differ from TIM supplier’s results, and thus can not be used confidently in thermal design. An OEM’s material selection can also prove to be unreliable when comparing data from different TIM suppliers. This paper presents a successful model that an OEM customer (Sun Microsystems) and a TIM supplier (LORD Corporation) have established for characterization of TIMs, and illustrates a package-level thermal test vehicle (TTV) setup for junction-to-sink thermal resistance measurements. Also presented are test results for several TIMs and repeatability of the test method. The effects of a few influencing factors, such as pressure load and TIM staging time, on the test results are also discussed.

Full text
Abstract:
Investigations on the design of controllable magneto-rheological (MR) fluid devices have focused heavily on low velocity and frequency applications. The extensive work in this area has led to a good understanding of MR fluid properties at low velocities and frequencies. However, the issues concerning MR fluid behavior in impact and shock applications are relatively unknown. To investigate MR fluid properties in this regime, a drop-tower was developed to subject MR fluid dampers to impulsive loads. The drop-tower design uses a guided drop-mass, which is released from variable heights to achieve different impact energies. The nominal drop-mass is 55 lb and additional weight may be added to reach a maximum of 500 lb. The nominal drop-mass of 55 lb was used throughout this study. Five drop-heights were investigated, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 inches, corresponding to impact velocities of 86, 127, 182, 224 and 260 in/s. Two fundamental MR damper configurations were tested, a single-stage, double-ended piston and a two-stage, mono-tube with nitrogen accumulator. Both dampers operate in the valve flow mode and contain MRF-128 TD fluid from Lord Corporation. The results indicate that the two damper configurations exhibit different force-displacement characteristics during impulsive loading. For the single-stage, double-ended damper, the peak force occurs close to the beginning of the impact. Conversely, the two-stage, mono-tube damper does not reach the peak force until after the nitrogen accumulator bottoms out. To verify this behavior, a theoretical model of the accumulator is derived and compared to the experimental data. The results also show that for a given impact velocity, the peak force does not depend on the current supplied to the damper. Since increasing the supply current causes an increase in the apparent yield stress, it was anticipated that the peak force would depend on the supply current as well. This disagreement is hypothesized to be the result of the fluid inertia preventing the fluid from accelerating fast enough to accommodate the rapid piston displacement. Thus, the peak force is primarily attributed to fluid compression, rather than the resistance to flow associated with the fluid passing through the magnetic field. It is important to note that this study is in its early stages and only preliminary conclusions are presented. Follow up publications will include additional results and modeling, and attempt to relate device design and MR fluid properties to dynamic behavior.

Abstract:
Many micromachines use rotating shafts and other moving parts which carry a load and need fluid bearings for support. Most of them operate with air or water as the lubricating fluid. The present study analyzes air microbearing represented as an eccentric cylinder rotating in a stationary housing. The fluid mechanics and operating characteristics of microbearing are different from their larger cousins. The small length-scale may invalidate the continuum approximation in Navier-Stokes equations, and slip flow, rarefaction, compressibility and other unconventional effects may have to be taken into account. Surface effects dominate in small devices due to a high surface-volume ratio. In this study, two-dimensional eccentric-shaft journal microbearings with different eccentricities are simulated by direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code incorporated with a Volume-CAD software. The diffuse reflection model and Cercignani-Lampis-Lord (CLL) model are applied to model the molecule-surface interaction by considering the accommodation coefficients of shaft wall and housing wall separately. The distribution of mean free path in the flow field indicates that the continuum model may break down and it is necessary to carry our molecular modeling. Calculation results show that at high eccentricity and high accommodation coefficient on the housing wall (ACO) the flow may develop a recirculation region. However, the accommodation coefficient on shaft wall (ACI) does not have any effect on the occurrence of recirculation and the size of recirculation zone. There is antisymmetry of the pressure about a vertical axis, which produces a pressure force on the shaft wall. The influence of ACI to isobars is larger than that of ACO. The shear stress profile on shaft wall is big at low ACI. At the region of short clearance between the shaft wall and housing wall, it is also influenced by the surface condition of housing wall and may even change its direction at low ACO. The pressure profile is reduced in amplitude as the ACI increases, but it is enhanced a little with the increase of ACO. The ACO has great impact on the viscous force in the case of big eccentricity. With the increase of ACI, the viscous force decreases. The pressure force is high at large eccentricity. The influence of ACO to pressure force is insignificant, but the pressure force fall is enormous when ACI increases, especially for large eccentricity. The total force decreases markedly at high eccentricity when ACI increases. The ACO almost has no impact on the total force. The torque increases with ACO, but decreases with ACI. The eccentricity also has great impact on the torque, and the microbeaing may have large torque at high eccentricity. The method developed in this paper would be very useful for designing and evaluating journal microbearing.

Abstract:
This POSTnote looks at specialist data skills in the UK, including for artificial intelligence. It considers demand and supply, workforce demographics, challenges, and initiatives to increase supply. Key points: • Collecting and analysing data offers potential economic and social benefits. Analysis by the McKinsey Global Institute estimated that, by 2030, UK GDP could increase by up to 22% as a result of AI. • Potential societal benefits could range from climate change mitigation, to improving early detection and diagnosis of cancers by using AI to identify patterns from imaging (MRI) scans that are not readily detected by humans. • Evidence suggests that the availability of people with specialist data skills in the UK is not sufficient to meet demand. • A 2021 study estimated that the supply of data scientists from UK universities was unlikely to exceed 10,000 per year, yet there were potentially at least 178,000 data specialist roles vacant in the UK. • Research finds that certain groups (such as women, those from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities) are underrepresented in the data workforce. A lack of workforce diversity has the potential to amplify existing inequalities and prejudices. • Initiatives to increase the number of people with data skills include degree conversion courses, doctoral training centres for PhD students, online up-skilling platforms, apprenticeships, and visas to attract international talent. • Efforts to reduce the skills gap can be hindered by the inconsistent definition of data skills, organisational culture, the availability of specialist primary and secondary school teachers, and barriers to people moving between sectors. • A 2022 inquiry by the Lords Science and Technology Committee concluded that a mismatch exists between the scale of the UK’s STEM skills gap and the solutions proposed by the UK Government, “especially given the UK’s ambition to be a science and technology superpower”. It described the Government’s policies as “inadequate and piecemeal”.
