Abstract:
Data on age structure, shell size (height, length, thickness) and weight of oyster Crassostrea gigas in the Losos Bight (Aniva Bay, Okhotsk Sea) are presented on results of the surveys conducted in 2018 and 2019. The size-age key for the total weight is plotted. The size-age structure is compared with oysters from other habitats.

Abstract:
V analitičnem delu so predstavljeni izsledki predhodne raziskave: prevodi 57 neologizmov so analizirani na podlagi uporabljenih prevodnih postopkov in ustreznosti v ciljnem jeziku.

Abstract:
The Bengal monitor lizard or Common Indian monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis Daudin, 1802) is classified as Least Concern under the IUCN and listed under the Schedule-I of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Further, the trade of the species is prohibited as the species is listed in Appendix I of CITES. It is widely distributed over Western Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia (Koch et al. 2013). It is reported to occupy both terrestrial as well as freshwater habitats from desert areas to floodplains, scrubland to forests, in different types of terrains at elevations below 1500m (Auffenberg 1994; Papenfuss et al. 2010). Body size of individuals varies from 61 to 175 cm from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail (Auffenberg 1994; Losos and Greene, 1998). Adults are generally grey or greenish-grey in color, with a ventral pattern of grey to black crossbars from the chin to the tail. Adult individuals are less contrasting and have a less distinct pattern than younger individuals. The species shows a sexual dimorphism, with males being heavier (around 7.18 to 10 kg) than females which are about 40% smaller in size (Papenfuss et al. 2010).

Abstract:
Differential regimes of natural selection resulting from environmental complexities are regarded as among the major factors behind processes of evolutionary radiation (Schluter 2000). Therefore, where diverse selective environments converge, diverse organisms in terms of phylogenetic and ecological richness are expected to occur. In some areas of the world, processes of diversification can take the form of geographically widespread evolutionary radiations within the same lineage, as observed for example in the emblematic lizard genus Anolis (Losos 2009). In other areas, in contrast, relatively small territories characterized by rich environmental and ecological complexities allow the existence of similarly complex assemblages formed by several different lineages under tight coexistence. A prominent case of this last scenario, although largely hidden until recently, is the reptile fauna of Uruguay. Located at the subtropical Eastern extreme of South America, Uruguay encloses countless natural elements that inspire the development of an exciting story on the wonderful outcomes of ecological interactions, and ultimately, of evolution. Carreira et al. (2005) have recently taken the challenge to tell part of this natural story. Focusing on the most fundamental outcome of ecological and evolutionary processes, namely biodiversity at different levels, Carreira et al. have come out with the first detailed scientific monograph on the reptiles of Uruguay ever published, and one of the first complete accounts of this ectotherm fauna for the country in almost a century (the only previous complete account is Devincenzi’s 1925).

Abstract:
Landings of manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum were steady high in 2010–2016 and exceeded the recommended volume that caused deterioration of its resources in the areas of large aggregations. Any significant growth of the clam colonies in the surveyed area could not be expected in the nearest future because of continuing press of fishery. Total stock of Ruditapes philippinarum in the Aniva Bay is estimated as 240 t, including 203 t of clams with commercial size.

Abstract:
The essay covers focal topics, genres, and structure of the first issue of the Russian newspaper “Logos Review of Books”. The periodical is conceived as a review supplement to “Logos”, the leading post-Soviet academic journal on philosophy, culture studies and human research methodology. In terms of format it is an analytical monthly periodical covering not only Russian and translated books (fiction, nonfiction on humanities), but also products of new media, cultural events, and ongoing debates on problems of education, technologies, etc. The genre structure is represented mainly by critique and reviews, while burning issues are discussed in few essays, interviews, and comments. In comparison with academic style of “Logos” (however, in recent years it has been somewhat diluted with “essayism” and provocation), this format is closer to the popular scholarly criticism, and the publication obviously claims to be an intellectual trendsetter, while orienting itself on the foreign samples of book reviews (“London Review of Books”, etc.).
