Abstract:
With the application of the pessimistic decision-making method, we make our portfolio selection with the objective of “maximum loss minimization”. First, we develop a maximum ordinary loss minimization model and then we form a maximum mean excess loss minimization model on the basis of the CVaR risk measurement. On the basis of the two models, we put forward a new concept loss gap and define it. Last, we establish a maximum loss gap minimization model and discuss the relationship between it and the MV model.

Abstract:
To study the decision bias in newsvendor behavior, this paper introduces an opportunity loss minimization criterion into the newsvendor model with backordering. We apply the Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR) measure to hedge against the potential risks from newsvendor’s order decision. We obtain the optimal order quantities for a newsvendor to minimize the expected opportunity loss and CVaR of opportunity loss. It is proven that the newsvendor’s optimal order quantity is related to the density function of market demand when the newsvendor exhibits risk-averse preference, which is inconsistent w

Energy management is a fundamental facility for humanity. At present, the awareness that renewable energy cannot satisfy the entire energy needs of the community and that traditional energy sources have a limited duration makes it imperative to address the problem of their careful and responsible use. Therefore, the need for an intelligent and functional use of energy has led the technical-scientific community to concentrate its efforts on the issues of sustainable development and energy savings. The electric drives industrial sector has suffered this influence in a visceral way. This sector p

Abstract:
The electric power distribution system usually operates a radial configuration, with tie switches between circuits to provide alternate feeds. The losses would be minimized if all switches were closed, but this is not done because it complicates the system's protection against overcurrents. Whenever a component fails, some of the switches must be operated to restore power to as many customers as possible. As loads vary with time, switch operations may reduce losses in the system. Both of these are applications for reconfiguration. The problem is combinatorial, which precludes algorithms that

Abstract:
Anaemia is prevalent among the critically ill, with a multifactorial aetiology including haemodilution, iatrogenic blood loss, a reduced red cell lifespan, and especially decreased erythropoiesis. Acute inflammation probably has a major contribution to critical illness-induced anaemia, resulting in reduced iron absorption, sequestration of iron resulting in functional iron deficiency, relative erythropoietin deficiency, and impaired marrow red cell maturation. Anaemia during critical illness resembles the anaemia of chronic inflammatory disease, and probably results from similar pathophysiolog
