The expression and role of Loto genes was previously investigated in arthropods and it was concluded that the morphogenetic functions of Loto genes were conserved in the last common ancestors of arthropods. In this paper, possible orthologs of Loto clade genes are analysed and it was found that they possibly play a conserved role in convergent extension of cells from the blastoderm stage to germ band extension stage. The differences and similarities in the number of and expression of Loto clade genes in arthropods and onychophorans are compared and analysed. Unlike in arthropods, the expression of Euperipatoides Loto is strongest in the head including part of the somewhat enigmatic frontal appendages (the onychophoran antennae). I also find a stripped segmental pattern of expression that is similar to that classic expression in transverse segmental stripes of Loto class genes as seen in arthropods. However, these stripes are only week and appear to be mesodermal rather than ectodermal, as in arthropods. These facts are discussed in regard to current hypothesis about the origin of segmentation in panarthropods.Insects, crustaceans and chelicerates each possess a set of several Loto class genes which are also involved in convergent extension. But the myriapod Strigamia only appears to possess one such gene.  I therefore investigated Loto genes in another distantly related myriapod, Glomeris. It appears to only have one Loto gene and this appears to be involved in convergent extension as well. Two Toll genes  of Glomeris (Gm-567 and Gm-596) were incomplete and could according to phylogenetic analysis represent Loto genes. I therefore checked their expression and found that they are not expressed like Loto genes. A third potential Glomeris Loto gene (Gm-399) could not be isolated via PCR.My data suggest a somewhat different role for onychophoran Loto than convergent extension, and that the ancestral set of panarthropod Loto genes may be one, rather than a set.<br>Loto-genernas roll och uttryck var tidigare undersökt inom leddjur och slutsatsen var att morfogenetiska funktioner av Loto-gener var konserverade hos närmsta förfäderna till leddjuren. I denna artikel/rapport studerades ortologer till Loto-generna, vilket kunde konstateras att dessa förmodligen har en viktig roll i konvergent förlängning (convergent extension) av celler från blastoderma stadiet till germ band stadiet. Skillnader och likheter i uttryck av Loto-gener inom leddjur och Onychophora (klomaskar) jämfördes och analyserades. Olikt från leddjur så var uttrycket av Euperipatoides Loto som starkast i antennen vid huvudet på Onychophora. Jag kunde också se ett segmenterat mönster av uttrycket som är liknande de uttryck i form av segmentell band som återfinns i klassen Loto-gener hos leddjuren. Dessa är dock svaga och verkar bara vara mesodermala snarare än ektodermala som hos leddjur. Dessa fakta diskuteras kring hypotesen kring ursprunget om segmentering hos Panarthropoda.Insekter, kräftdjur och palpkäkar har alla flera klasser av Loto gener som även de är inblandade konvergent förlängning. Men, myriapod Strigamia har bara en Loto-gen. Därför valde jag att utforska de Loto-gener i en annan långt relaterad myriapod kallad Glomeris. Det verkar som Glomeris har en Loto-gen och den är involverad i konvergent förlängning också. Två Toll-gener från Glomeris (Gm-567 och Gm-596) var inte kompletta och kunde representera Loto-gener enlig analys från phylogenetiskt träd. Därför kollade jag uttrycket på dessa gener och kunde se att de inte var uttryckta i samma grad som Loto-gener. En tredje potentiell Glomeris Loto-gen (Gm-399) kunde inte bli isolerad med hjälp av PCR.Min data tyder på att klomaskars Loto-gener har en annan roll än konvergent förlängning och attpanarthropods kanske bara hade en Loto-gene istället för ett set av gener.

The main objective of the study was to determine the risk(s) associated with lockout/tagout of hazardous energy and propose a new LOTO procedure which tracks the implementation of LOTO to mitigate against identified risks as a basis for promotion of safety. The study focuses on electrical personnel working in PHCN. Only electrical accident risks are examined, not other types of risk e.g. mechanical, chemical, and nuclear. To gather material for this study, a questionnaire was distributed amongst electrical workers in PHCN and their supervisors were interviewed. Relevant literature and publications were studied as reference. According to electrical personnel experience, electrocution, arc flash, arc blast, burns and lockout and tagout of the wrong electrical circuit are seen as the biggest electrical safety risk with regards to LOTO of hazardous energy. The research reveals new information about electrical accident risks. This information is used to create a procedure for tracking LOTO of hazardous energy. This thesis examines why and how art is collected and used by modern corporations. Primarily, the study is focused on Alcan Aluminium Ltd., but for purposes of comparison and illumination, substantial attention is paid to Martineau Walker, Loto-Quebec and the Banque Nationale du Canada, all Montreal-based companies that have collected art for at least twenty years.<br>An historical introduction outlining the relationship between the arts and business---from the Renaissance in Europe to its place of greatest expansion in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; in the U.S.A. as well as in Canada---begins the discussion. An attempt is made to position the activities of modern corporate art collecting between two poles---that of the individual collector and that of the institutional art museum.<br>Motives for collecting include, among many, the search for distinction and the desire to create a perception in the community of humanitarian standards guiding the corporation. The ways in which corporate motives contribute to the creation of a positive external corporate art identity, and thus a productive business environment, are examined and developed, as are the principal objections of their chief public detractor, artist-writer Hans Haacke.<br>In three of the four corporations studied, original research on the behavioural and emotional reactions of employees to the corporate art surrounding them has allowed an in-depth analysis of the internal effects of art on employees. Foremost among these are feelings of pride, well-being and the enhancement of self-identity.<br>Finally, a brief discussion of the role of mediators is offered, in particular that of the corporate curator in the modern art world.

In questo elaborato si è descrivono i diversi mesi di lavoro che hanno portato all’introduzione del modulo SAP PM nell’azienda Bellco. PM, Plan Maintenance è il modulo dedicato alla manutenzione del sistema informativo SAP. L’obiettivo del progetto è la revisione e ottimizzazione della struttura della manutenzione in azienda per ottenere un processo di manutenzione basato su un software che possa apportare le condizioni ottime a supporto dell’attività manutentiva e degli operatori stessi. Il progetto si può suddividere in due macroaree: la revisione della manutenzione e la progettazione del modulo PM. La revisione della struttura della manutenzione ha comportato oltre che la revisione dei documenti ufficiali, anche l’ottimizzazione del processo di manutenzione, la riclassificazione del rischio delle macchine e l’introduzione della procedura Lockout Tagout per la sicurezza degli operatori durante l’attività manutentiva. La progettazione del modulo PM ha incluso al suo interno la fase di validazione del sistema, compilazione delle anagrafiche e training agli utenti.

Mestrado em Gestão de Sistemas de Informação<br>Jogos Sociais do Estado são jogos cujo lucro é aplicado nas chamadas causas sociais, ou "boas causas", apoiando grupos populacionais mais desfavorecidos ou programas específicos de âmbito social. Com o objectivo de identificar os determinantes de receitas dos Jogos Sociais do Estado em Portugal, foram recolhidos os dados referentes às vendas dos jogos do tipo Loto nos canais de distribuição mediador e Portal de Jogos, na Internet. Após a aplicação de diversos testes estatísticos concluiu-se que a relação da variação do volume de vendas no Portal face à existência de jackpot no primeiro prémio é estatisticamente significativa, ao contrário do que acontece na rede de mediadores, demonstrando-se a diferença de comportamento dos apostadores nos dois canais. Foi ainda provado que há uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre as vendas do jogo Euromilhões, tanto na rede de mediadores como no Portal de Jogos, e as vendas dos outros jogos nos mesmos canais, provando-se o efeito de complementaridade entre o jogo multi-estatal e os jogos nacionais do mesmo tipo Loto.<br>Social Games are games whose profits are applied on the so-called social causes, or "good cause", supporting disadvantaged population groups or social supporting programmes. With the purpose of identifying the determinants of Social gaming revenue in Portugal, data were collected concerning sales of Lotto type games, in both distribution channels: retailer and the gaming Portal on the Internet. After the application of various statistic tests, it was proved that the ratio of the change in the volume of sales on the Portal, face the existence of jackpot in first prize, is statistically significant, unlike in the network of retailers, showing the difference in the behavior of bettors in this two channels. It was also shown that there is a statistically significant relationship between the Euromillions game sales, both within the network of retailers as well as at the gaming Portal, and the sales of the other games in the same channels. This proves the effect of complementarily between the game multi-state and national games of the same type Lotto.

<p> Along the coastlines of the Hawaiian Islands, there is a valuable and critical resource known for its brackish water habitat &ndash; loko i&lsquo;a (Hawaiian fishponds). They are dynamic systems dependent on the balance between fresh groundwater inputs from uka (uplands) and landward flow of kai (seawater), which all vary depending on the behavior of our climate, including rainfall, tides, and storms. Nutrient-rich groundwater mixing with the seawater at the coast allows for an abundant growth of limu or primary productivity attracting many of Hawaii&rsquo;s favorable native brackish water and herbivorous species. Having an intimate relationship with this natural coastal nursery, Hawaiians effectively modified these coastal habitats into loko i&rsquo;a to provide a sustainable food source for the communities in which they reside. In support of these invaluable resources and practices, this study seeks to understand primary productivity and salinity relationships along the same coastline at Honokea Loko of Waiuli, and Hale o Lono and Wai&amacr;hole/Kapalaho of Honohononui, Hawaii. Weekly water quality monitoring by kiai' loko (fishpond steward) and biweekly water column sampling, salinity in the three loko i&rsquo;a ranged from 3.1 to 18.8 and was significantly different throughout different areas of each pond. Benthic primary productivity experiments, found significantly more growth at higher salinity locations across all sites. Due to these strong correlations, loko i'a communities would greatly benefit from these methodologies to quantify the variability of environmental changes through time and specific impacts of climate phenomena, changes in rainfall and sea level. These factors have the potential to interfere with primary productivity and alter loko i'a systems interactions entirely.</p><p>
