La carrière de Jean-Baptiste Louvet, riche et courte (1760-1797) se divise en deux parties chronologiques. Cet écrivain s'illustre d'abord par les 'Amours du chevalier de Faublas', fiction romanesque publiée entre 1787 et 1789. L'inspiration libertine de l'auteur reflète la tradition mondaine et galante, la renouvelle avec piquant. Sa vision réaliste critique de la société et des moeurs de l'Ancien Régime, manifeste son souci d'être "l'historien fidèle" de son époque. Faublas, incarnant un jeune aventurier romanesque aussi perpétuellement amoureux que déguisé, devient un mythe dont les excès se heurteront à la morale aristocratique. A partir de 1789, la vie et l'oeuvre de Louvet se confondront. Son indignation dans un pamphlet 'Paris Justifié' lui permet d'entrer au Club des Jacobins. Il commence alors une carrière d'orateur politique, suivent trois pièces de théâtre et un roman épistolaire à thèse : 'Emilie de Varmont'. En 1792, député, il lance son accusation contre le montagnard Robespierre. Proscrit en 1793, son écriture se renouvelle dans ses 'Mémoires' où il relate son expérience politique et les épreuves autobiographiques de son errance en France, témoignage unique sur cette période complexe. Réhabilité en 1795, libraire, il se consacrera à sa carrière parlementaire, à 'La Sentinelle', aux valeurs patriotiques et républicaines jamais démentiesJean-Baptiste Louvet's short but interesting career (1760-1797) splits in two chronological parts. This inspired writer first wins fame with 'Les Amours du Chevalier de Faublas', a romantic work of fiction published between 1787 and 1789. .

Les Grands Magasins du Louvre naissent en 1855 à l’ombre du Grand Hôtel du Louvre, dans un quartier en expansion suite aux travaux de Haussmann, deux ans seulement après la création du Bon Marché. Leur création est fortement liée au projet et au réseau des frères Pereire qui souhaitent développer le commerce et le tourisme de luxe à Paris. Les Grands Magasins du Louvre s’imposent rapidement comme l’un des principaux grands magasins, voire même le plus important par le chiffre d’affaires dans les années 1870-1880, ainsi que par l’espace occupé. En effet, d’abord enclavé par l’hôtel, le magasin conduit par ses deux gérants, Chauchard et Hériot, va engloutir toutes les boutiques environnantes, et s’emparer de l’hôtel en 1875. Ils adoptent ainsi le slogan les « plus vastes magasins du monde ». Ce premier pied dans l’hôtellerie va inciter ses dirigeants à poursuivre leur expansion dans ce domaine en exploitant trois hôtels supplémentaires, le Terminus Saint-Lazare, l’hôtel d’Orsay et le Crillon. Les Grands Magasins du Louvre sera donc le seul grand magasin à avoir investi dans un autre secteur que le commerce pour diversifier ses activités. A la fin du XIXème siècle, le magasin semble connaître son apogée étendant son influence sur le territoire national comme à l’étranger et s’approvisionnant en marchandises du monde entier. Mais la Première Guerre mondiale et surtout la crise économique des années 1930 lui porte un coup dur dont il ne se relèvera pas. En 1939 il dépose une première fois le bilan, avant que cette fermeture soit interrompue par la guerre. Il continuera à survivre après le Second conflit mondial, avant de disparaître définitivement en 1974The Grands Magasins du Louvre was born in 1855 in the shadow of the Grand Hôtel du Louvre, in an expanding area following the works of Haussmann, only two years after the creation of the Bon Marché. Their creation is strongly linked to the project and the network of the Pereire brothers who wish to develop trade and luxury tourism in Paris. Louvre shops are quickly becoming one of the leading department stores, and even the most important by turnover in the 1870s and 1880s, as well as occupied space. Indeed, at first locked by the hotel, the store led by its two managers Chauchard and Hériot will engulf all the surrounding shops, as well as the hotel in 1879. They adopt the slogan of "the largest stores in the world". This first foot in the hotel industry will encourage its leaders to continue their expansion in this area by operating three additional hotels, the Terminus Saint-Lazare, the hotel d'Orsay and Crillon. The Grands Magasins du Louvre will therefore be the only department store to have invested in a sector other than commerce to diversify its activities. At the end of the nineteenth century, the store seems to know its heyday extending its influence on the national territory and abroad and sourcing goods from around the world. But the First World War and especially the economic crisis of the 1930s brought him a hard blow which he will not recover. In 1939 it first filed the balance sheet, before the closure was interrupted by the war. It will continue to survive after the Second World War, before finally disappearing in 1974

Esta tese faz uma revisão crítica dos textos históricos sobre a fachada oriental do Louvre. Preenche-se com isso uma lacuna significativa na historiografia da arquitetura clássica, construindo um instrumental metodológico de análise crítica dos relatos históricos. Propõe-se aqui a tese de que em se tratando da definição do caráter arquitetônico e da noção de grandeza do monumento, as atribuições e as representações historiográficas são construídas a partir de elementos formais diversos daqueles considerados mais importantes na época da concepção e construção da obra arquitetônica. Consideram-se três ciclos históricos na construção dos relatos sobre o Louvre: o primeiro, de 1852 até 1926, caracteriza-se por um interesse operativo em definir, a partir do exemplo histórico, critérios para a prática da arquitetura clássica; o segundo, de 1924 a 1964, é marcado por uma preocupação em determinar características culturais mais amplas a partir de valores atribuídos da arquitetura nacional; o terceiro, de 1964 até os dias atuais, aprofunda-se em pesquisas arqueológicas e documentais, deixando de lado os olhares globais lançados nos períodos anteriores. ___________________________________________________________________________________ RÉSUMÉ
Cette thèse entreprend de combler une lacune dans l’historiographie de l’architecture classique, en proposant une révision critique des récits historiques sur la façade orientale du Louvre. Nous établissons ici un cadre de référence méthodologique pour l’analyse critique des textes. Ainsi armés, nous avançons la thèse qu’à propos de la définition du caractère architectural ainsi que de la notion de grandeur du monument, les attributions et représentations historiques ont été élaborées à partir d’éléments et de données différents de ceux auxquels les contemporains de l’ouvrage attachaient le plus d’importance. Nous avons pris en compte trois cycles historiques dans la formation de récits sur le Louvre : le premier, de 1852 jusq’à 1926, présente un intérêt opératif à définir d’après le modèle historique un critère pour la pratique architecturale classique ; le deuxième, de 1924 à 1964, se préoccupe de déterminer les caractéristiques culturelles générales à partir de valeurs imprimées sur l’architecture nationale ; le troisième cycle, de 1964 à nos jours, s’approfondit sur des recherches archéologiques et documentaires, laissant de côté les regards globaux portés par les périodes précédentes.

Analysis of mirth Reisado Careta, with music, dance, singing and poetry, performed by farmers of the Middle Itapecuru, wilderness east of Maranhão, especially in the city of Caxias. The Grimace Epiphany is a feast for kings and Holy praise is in the form of journey that symbolizes the path made by the Three Kings of Orient since the night of December 25, date of birth of Jesus Christ until the day 06 of January, when Kings came to Bethlehem The characters represented in the game vary between humans animals (donkey, ox, rooster, emu, babau), human (Nega-vein) and fantastic (jaraguaia, the faces), among others as each group brincantes present. The instruments also vary between accordion, fiddle, banjo, guitar, tambourine, triangle and drum. Creation of a cultural community is based on their traditions.
Análise do folguedo Reisado Careta, com música, dança, canto e poesia; realizado por agricultores da região do Médio Itapecuru, sertão leste do Maranhão, especialmente na cidade de Caxias. O Reisado Careta é uma festa para louvar Santo Reis e acontece em forma de jornada que simboliza o caminho feito pelos Três Reis do Oriente desde a noite do dia 25 de dezembro, data do nascimento de Cristo Jesus até o dia 06 de janeiro, quando os Reis chegaram a Belém. As personagens representadas na brincadeira variam entre seres animais (burrinha, boi, galo, ema, babau), humanos (Nega-véia) e fantásticos (jaraguaia, os caretas), entre outros conforme cada grupo de brincantes apresentar. Os instrumentos também variam entre sanfona, rabeca, banjo, viola, pandeiro, triângulo e tambor. Criação cultural de uma comunidade é baseada em suas tradições.

The purpose of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the possibilities of usage of puppets in film, both animated and hand-held. It concentrates mainly on productions made in the Czech Republic. This thesis contains the division and description of individual techniques and types of puppets, a brief history of Czech and and international puppetry and a brief insight in to film and the beginnings of animation and the history of Czech puppet film. It contains analysis of specific films, compares animation and theatre techniques from different perspectives and also concentrates on specific qualities of puppets and some means of film communication. The conclusion of this thesis contains an interview with Jan Švankmajer.

Alexina Louie (1949-) is one of Canada's foremost composers of contemporary classical music. She was named "Composer of the Year 1986" by the Canada Music Council in the International Year of Canadian music. Her compositions have been commissioned and performed by Canada's major orchestras, ensembles, and soloists and have been played extensively throughout Canada and abroad. Due to the incessant demand for her music, Louie is among the numbered few in Canada who are able to make a living solely by composing. The first chapter of this study outlines Louie's life from childhood until 1993. The second looks at the media's portrayal of Louie, from 1980 until 1992. The ways in which Louie composes are discussed in the third chapter, and the fourth analyses three contrasting pieces: (1) Music for a Thousand Autumns (1983), (2) The Eternal Earth (1986), and (3) The Ringing Earth (1985). A list of works, recordings, and published compositions follow an extensive bibliography. A cassette containing excerpts of Louie's work accompanies the thesis. This study reveals Louie to be an outstanding Canadian musician. She is greatly respected and admired for her compositions as well as for her promotion of contemporary music. Through her expertise, her art, her culture, and her philosophy, Louie has helped put a new face on Canadian contemporary music.

Tutkimuksen aiheena on rajat ylittävä yhteistyö ja sen vaikutukset alueellisen pääoman kehitykseen Kuusamon ja Louhen piirin välisessä ystävyyskuntatoiminnassa. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää millaista toimintaa alueiden väliseen ystävyyskuntatoimintaan liittyy, mitä haasteita ne ovat kohdanneet ja miten näihin haasteisiin on vastattu. Tärkeimpänä tutkimuskysymyksenäni on selvittää, tukeeko Kuusamon ja Louhen piirin ystävyyskuntatoiminta Pierre Bourdieun teoriaa pääoman kolmesta muodosta ja niiden aluekehityksellisistä vaikutuksista. Teoreettisena viitekehyksenä käytän tieteellistä kirjallisuutta, jonka avulla käyn läpi mitä rajat ylittävä yhteistyö on ja millaisia vaikutuksia sillä on alueellisen pääoman kehitykseen. Kuusamon ja Louhen piirin ystävyskuntatoiminnan selvittämisessä käytän Kuusamon kaupungin keskushallinnon arkistosta saamiani asiakirjoja ja ystävyyskuntasopimuksia alueiden väliseen yhteistyöhön liittyen. Tutkimuksessa ilmenee, että alueiden välinen yhteistyö tukee Bourdieun teoriaa pääomien ilmenemisestä ja niiden vaikutuksista alueelliseen kehitykseen. Kuusamon kaupunki on ollut ystävyyskuntatoiminnassa Louhen piirin kanssa vuodesta 1989 lähtien ja niiden välinen rajat ylittävä yhteistyö on ollut vilkasta ja jatkuvaa. Suurimpina haasteina esille nousi alueiden välinen valtioiden raja, jonka ylittäminen helpottui kun alueet saivat ystävyyskuntatoiminnan avulla avattua rajalle kansainvälisen raja-aseman vuonna 2006. Lisäksi vuorovaikutusta vaikeuttavat eroavuudet kielessä ja kulttuurissa, mutta näihin haasteisiin alueet vastaavat erilaisin kielikurssein ja kulttuurivaihdoin.

Les fragments d'architecture grecque conservés au Louvre sont caractérises par une grande variété aussi bien de par leur provenance que par le type d'élément architectonique et par la période à laquelle ils ont été crées. La majeure partie du matériel provient des fouilles et prospections réalisées par les missions françaises, organisées au cours du XIXe siècle. Les fragments ont été découverts en Grèce continentale et en Asie mineure ; ils appartiennent à d'édifices d'importance inégale, tels les temples d'Assos, d'Artemis leucophryène de Magnésie du Méandre, d’Apollon de Didymes, d'Athéna de Priène, d'Apollon de Délos, de Zeus d’Olympie, d'Apollon de Bassai, ou bien a de monuments publics (Milet, Phocée, Pella, Eleusis). Certains proviennent d'édifices inconnus une partie du matériel est publiée, mais les publications sont incomplètes, datent de l'époque de découverte des fragments et n'ont pas été reprises récemment. L'intérêt de l'étude consiste à démontrer que le matériel mérite d'être connu plus globalement pour obtenir sa vraie mise en valeur.The fragments of Greek architecture, which are conserved in the Louvre Museum are very various. They come from different sites and monuments, represent different architectural types of elements and date between the archaic and the late Hellenistic period. Discovered during the surveys and excavations of numerous French missions, organized during the 19th century, in Greece and Asia minor, they come from different types of monuments : temples (like Assos, Artemis leucophryene at Magnesia on Maeander, Apollon of Didyma, Athena of Priene, Apollon of Delos and Bassai, Zeus of Olympia), public buildings (Miletus, Phocaea, Pella, Eleusis), or palaces, like vergina. Several fragments come from unknown buildings. They are partly published but these publications are ancient and non complete and have not been revised recently. The interest of these fragments must be proved because they have to be better known and valorised

Le pouvoir symbolique du Louvre se traduit dans le nouveau modèle territorial qu’il propose. Instrument de la diplomatie française, il incarne le rayonnement culturel français par excellence qui sert autant une région française en régénérescence urbaine (Hauts de France) que des pays en re-structuration politique et économique (Émirats arabes unis, Iran). Dans un contexte de mondialisations (Ghorra-Gobin, 2005), la réputation liée aux représentations du Louvre génère un désir de lieux. Les représentations analysées montrent que ce géosymbole (Bonnemaison, 1981) inscrit dans l’imaginaire commun participe à multi-situer le Louvre. Le musée du Louvre, le Louvre-Atlanta, le Louvre-Lens, le Louvre Abu Dhabi puis le Louvre Téhéran, auxquels s’ajoutent les réseaux professionnels, les partenariats, la circulation des œuvres, sont des éléments qui permettent de faire émerger plus qu’un réseau, un territoire Louvre qui peut se comprendre par les temporalités (Braudel). Pourtant, la transposition d’un Louvre interpelle puisque le musée se définit par sa part sacrée, c’est-à-dire sa collection. On se demande dans cette thèse comment (à partir de cette part sacrée) le Louvre participe à une mise en relation de lieux dans un contexte de mondialisations et comment il créé in fine un territoire à part entière ? Les références mobilisées pour penser le territoire sont les travaux de Guy Di Méo sur la territorialité et d’Yves Lacoste et de Claude Raffestin en géographie politique sur les relations asymétriques et les enjeux de pouvoirs. Les résultats de cette thèse amènent à réfléchir à l’évolution et l’impact d’un territoire Louvre en archipel ou multi-situéThe symbolic force of the Louvre expresses itself through its latest territorial model. Instrumental to the French diplomacy, The Louvre embodies the French cultural influence on a French region in urban reconstruction (Hauts de France) or in countries in economical or political re-structuration (Émirats arabes unis, Iran). In a mondialisations context (Ghorra-Gobin, 2005), this reputation linked to the Louvre representations favours a locus desire. Our analysis of these representations emphasizes the fact that this géosymbol (Bonnemaison, 1981), present in the collective imaginary, is instrumental in the multiplication of the Louvre sites. The Louvre museum, the Louvre-Atlanta, the Louvre-Lens, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Téhéran, plus the professional networks, partnerships, works of art circulation are as many aspects that facilitate the emergence of something superior to a network: the notion of a Louvre territory that can be understood by its temporalities (Braudel). Most importantly, the propagation of the Louvre (as a model) raises various questions as the museum itself is defined by its sacred part (i.e. its collections). This research work is an attempt to answer a crucial question: how (with this sacred part as a starting point), can the Louvre be an actor to the linkage of various loci (places) in a mondialisations context and how can the Louvre in fine initiate the creation of a territory. To conclude with, this research is an invitation to think about the impact (and evolution) of a Louvre territory in terms of an archipelago or of multi-situated territory. Our references to approach the territory concept are Guy Di Méo’s on territoriality and Yves Lacoste and Claude Raffestin’s in political geography on asymetrical relationships and power issues

Shading louvres on buildings must serve to allow maximum window insolation in winter, while have the prime function of intercepting unwanted direct solar radiation in summer; which could cause excessive solar heat gain, especially in glazed offices and commercial spaces. Studies of the effect of solar protection on heating and cooling loads show that shading strategies are climate dependent. And it is accepted today that solar protection does reduce energy use for cooling, and tends to increase heating loads. The balance between the benefits in cooling and the losses in heating is only achievable by good designs. The main focus of this research work has been in harnessing the thermal energy available within the incident solar radiation intercepted by the shading louvres; hence benefiting, from shading in terms of energy savings, as well as from the collected energy. In achieving this aim, both theoretical and experimental techniques have been utilized, as design analysis tools, in order to select a design that satisfies both the efficiency and cost criteria. A suitable collector design has, then, been identified, its thermal performance characterised, and its prototype manufactured and built. The prototype of the chosen design has been field-tested in Nottingham-England and Porto-Portugal. Finally, the characteristics of the design have been incorporated into a computer simulation scenario, in which a real office building in Winterthur-Switzerland has been analysed for its total (cooling and heating) annual energy consumption. Findings of this research work indicate that these louvres, despite certain geometrical limitations, could act as solar collectors with good energy collection characteristics. And they could contribute with substantial reductions in the overall annual energy consumption resulting from the combined effect of shading and collecting energy. This was found particularly to be the case when the collected energy is made to part-fuel, an adsorption chiller for the purpose of air-conditioning the same building.

Largement interprété comme le résultat d'un complot, l'attentat de Louvel est suivi d'une crise politique majeure et d'une vaste enquête, jusqu'au procès de l'assassin devant la Cour des pairs. Une exceptionnelle mobilisation de tous les agents de l'Etat, notamment magistrats, policiers et préfets, conduit à la production de sources originales sur une France hantée par la rupture révolutionnaire, où le complot se révèle introuvable mais prolixe. La thèse se concentre d'abord sur l'expérience, les usages ou contre-usages, et les diverses lectures de l'événement, puis elle analyse en détail l'enquête comme processus et comme pratique "interactive". Enfin la question du rapport populaire au politique est abordée à travers les apports des sources judiciaires. "This thesis proposes to pay attention to a tremendous but forgotten event, the assassination of the duc de Berry, Louis XVIII's nephew, on 13th of February 1820. Louvel's crime was widely understood as the result of a plot against the monarchy, and led therefore to a major political crisis and royalist reaction. The murderer's trial before the Cour des pairs was also preceded by a broad inquiry, involving most officials, ike magistrates or prefects, trying to pierce the social and political darkness of postrevolutionary France. They found not plot but proceded original archive materials on memories and rumours stirred up by the event in various social classes. The study first focuses on the ways the event was experienced, used and read among the political opinion. Then judicial proceedings and police investigation are analyzed in detail. The case of Louvel and more generally the way these judicial sources help understanding popular uses of politics between 1789 and 1848 are finally discussed

In order to develop the most efficient algorithms for wireless networks, first one must understand their theoretical limitations. To this end, we study the leader election and broadcast problems in wireless networks, modeling them using the Signal-to- Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio (SINR) model. Our main result is an algorithm that solves the leader election problem in two communication rounds using power control, with high probability. Previously, it was known that [Omega](log n) rounds were sufficient and necessary when using uniform power, where n is the number of nodes in the network. We explore tradeoffs between communication complexity and power used, and show that to elect a leader in t rounds, a power range exp (n (1 [Theta] T) is sufficient and necessary. In addition, we present an efficient algorithm for the broadcast problem. Using power control, it is possible to achieve a broadcast algorithm that terminates successfully in 2n rounds, w.h.p..

Em linhas gerais o projeto consiste numa abordagem do pensamento do escritor francês Georges Bataille, no viés de sua crítica à razão ocidental, tendo por base a noção de experiência, através da qual o autor desenvolve uma teoria do excesso e do impossível, colocando-se num horizonte de indagação de fenômenos que escapam à normalidade do discurso racional construído sob a égide do logocentrismo. Assim, a tese em questão pretende confrontar-se com fenômenos como o do erotismo, do êxtase, da mística, da poesia e da violência que constituem, propriamente, uma dobra do real pela via do excesso. Interessa analisar o modo pelo qual estes fenômenos de exceção são interpretados pela linguagem e criticados no campo textual. O louvor do excesso a que alude o título da pesquisa diz respeito ao entendimento da noção de transgressão no pensamento e na obra batailleana. Nesse universo a transgressão é vista como um dispositivo acionado pela proibição, que lhe serve de complemento fundamental. A transgressão assim põe em funcionamento as forças heterogêneas da experiência que excedem o pensamento e o discurso. A obra de Bataille não deixa de ser um esforço geral no sentido de trazer à luz da inteligência os fenômenos da experiência, como o erotismo, a violência, a poesia, o riso, o êxtase, já que, via de regra, não são contemplados pela razão ocidental.In general terms, the project consists in an overview of the work of the French writer Georges Bataille, in regards to his critique of the Western reasoning, having as a base the notion of experience, through which the author develops a theory of the excess and of the impossible, that is, a horizon of questioning phenomena which escape the normality of rational discourse constructed under the aegis of logocentrism. Thus, the thesis in question intends to confront phenomena like eroticism, ecstasy, mysticism, poetry and violence that are, properly, a fold of the real through the way of excess. It seeks to analyze the way in which these phenomena of exception are interpreted through the language and criticized in the textual field. The praise of excess referred to in the title of the research relates to the understanding of the notion of transgression in the batailleanas thought and work. In this universe transgression is seen as a device triggered by prohibition, which serves as its essential complement. Transgression thus sets in motion the heterogeneous forces of experience which exceed the thought and speech. Batailles work does not cease to be a general effort in the sense of bringing to the light of intelligence the phenomena of experience, like eroticism, violence, poetry, laughter, ecstasy, since, as a rule, these are not covered by Western reasoning.

Le présent travail aborde cet ensemble sous un double aspect. Analyse quantitative et qualitative d’après les critères modernes d’abord, essai d’analyse selon les critères égyptiens antiques explicites et implicites ensuite. Ces derniers se déduisent notamment des rapports entretenus entre les images en deux dimensions, qui procèdent directement de l’écriture, avec leur transcription en volume que constitue la statuaire. On découvre alors que la construction de la statuaire repose sur les aspects fondamentaux de mobilité et d’immobilité, d’action ou d’inaction, et qu’elle obéit d’une manière générale aux règles aspectives propres à la pensée égyptienne, avec la manifestation fréquente du point de vue perspectif qui se surimpose à ces règles de baseThe Louvre Museum keeps 302 Egyptian statues of the New Kingdom. Such a collection is rich enough to obtain some results which should be transposable to the complete Egyptian statuary of the period. The present work is dealing with this corpus from two angles. First, quantitative and qualitative analysis according to modern criteria. Second, attempt of analysis according to ancient Egyptian criteria, explicits and implicits. These last ones can particularly be deduced from the relations between two dimensional images, which are issued from the writing, and their transcription in volume, in other words the statuary. Then it is found that the conception of statuary is based on fundamental aspects of mobility and immobility, of action and inaction and, generally speaking, that it corresponds to aspective rules so characteristic of Egyptian thought, with the frequent manifestation of the perspective point of view which is superimposed to these basic rules

Trabalho de Projecto apresentado para cumprimento dos requisitos necessários à obtenção do grau de Mestre em Gestão do Território, área de espacialização Planeamento e Ordenamento do TerritórioO presente trabalho de projecto analisa a questão da reconversão urbana nas vulgarmente designadas “Áreas Críticas Urbanas” a partir de três experiências realizadas na Área Metropolitana de Lisboa (AML), na designada Costeira de Loures: o projecto de reconversão urbana da Vertente Sul de Odivelas, o projecto de da ocupação urbana do talude militar em Loures e o projecto de requalificação da Brandoa. Adopta-se para o efeito um conceito amplo e corrente, de “Áreas Críticas Urbanas” que se pode utilizar para identificar zonas situadas dentro dos perímetros urbanos, onde ocorre um elevado grau de deficiências ou carências urbanísticas e sociais que afectam a qualidade de vida das populações residentes, tal como definida pelos padrões médios das sociedades desenvolvidas. Naquele conceito amplo cabem, assim, não apenas as Áreas Críticas de Recuperação e Reconversão Urbanística propriamente ditas, mas também os bairros sociais, os bairros de barracas, os bairros clandestinos ou de génese ilegal e as Áreas de Reabilitação Urbana. Os casos de estudo realçam a diversidade de tipos de intervenção e de metodologias que podem ser ensaiados para a concretização de objectivos idênticos, em áreas críticas urbanas com características comuns. Cada intervenção analisada incide sobre parte do território dos respectivos concelhos. Em duas delas são áreas de grande dimensão (Brandoa e Odivelas) e densamente ocupadas, onde subsistem debilidades e problemas comuns de cariz urbanístico e social que se têm prolongado e intensificado com o decurso do tempo. Aos problemas urbanísticos e sociais verificados naquelas áreas, que são comuns à generalidade das áreas críticas urbanas acresce, neste caso concreto, o facto de a sua densa ocupação urbana ter sido feita sobre um suporte geológico altamente instável, numa situação de risco iminente de uma catástrofe local, a ponto de se poder falar num “estado de emergência” que reclama a sua imediata reconversão. Pese embora as indefinições políticas, tanto a nível central como a nível local, e os constrangimentos de natureza económica e financeira que se colocam à reconversão urbana daquele território, conclui-se que a prevenção e minimização dos riscos é urgente, e passa pela interdição da ocupação urbana nas áreas de risco das costeiras de Loures e de Odivelas, relocalizando as edificações existentes, e ainda pela concretização das Áreas e Corredores Vitais do ponto de vista ambiental, no âmbito da configuração e remates do sistema urbano.

Introdução - A conservação dos recursos biológicos do planeta e de cada região em particular conta com o desenvolvimento e aplicação de metodologias que visem o conhecimento da estrutura das comunidades e da sua dinâmica. É pois urgente travar os processos destrutivos, encontrando estratégias alternativas que possibilitem um desenvolvimento sustentável, sem inviabilizar as actividades tradicionais que estão na base da economia das populações rurais, preservando deste modo o património natural e etnográfico. A "International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resourses (IUCN)", como tentativa de resposta aos desequilíbrios ecológicos do planeta e destruição no património genético, elaborou a "World Conservation Strategy" -Estratégia mundial de conservação dos recursos vivos para um desenvolvimento sustentável. No seguimento das sugestões apresentadas naquele documento, é publicada no Jornal Oficial das Comunidades Europeias, no dia 21 de Maio de 19921, a Directiva 43/92/CEE, usualmente designada por Directiva Habitats, relativa à preservação dos habitats naturais e da fauna e flora selvagens. Esta directiva foi transposta para a ordem jurídica interna através dp D. L. N°226/97 de 27 de Agosto2, e aprovada a lista nacional de sítios. A referida directiva tem como meta principal "...favorecer a manutenção da biodiversidade, (...) contribuindo para o objectivo geral do desenvolvimento sustentável..." e considerg que a degradação dos habitats naturais, assim como a ameaça de extinção para muitas espécies selvagens, são muitas vezes de natureza transfronteiriça, nesse documento, é sugerida a criação de uma rede ecológica europeia de zonas especiais de preservação denominada «NATURA 2000», constituída por "Sítios de Interesse Comunitário" (SIC), ecologicamente coerentes, que alojem elementos constantes dos anexos, para além de zonas de Protecção Especial (ZPE) designadas pelos Estadas-membros, nos termos da Directiva 74/409/CEE (relativa à conservação das aves selvagens e cuja última redacção foi dada pela Directiva 91/244/CEE 3). 0 Anexo I contempla os "Tipos de Habitats Naturais de Interesse
Comunitário cuja conservação exige a designação de Zonas Especiais de Conservação". No Anexo II estão incluídas todas as "Espécies Animais e Vegetais de Interesse Comunitário, cuja conservação exige a designação de Zonas Especiais de Conservação". 0 Anexo III apresenta urna listagem dos "Critérios de Selecção dos Locais susceptíveis de serem identificados como Locais de Importância Comunitária e designados como Zonas Especiais de Conservação", o Anexo IV vem na sequência do Anexo II, contemplando as espécies que exigem uma Protecção Rigorosa" e, finalmente, o Anexo V que abrange as espécies de interesse comunitário, cuja captura ou colheita na natureza e exploração podem ser objecto de medidas de gestão. O presente trabalho surge no seguimento do relatório relativo ao Projecto "Habitats Naturais e de Espécies da Flora de Portugal (Continente) - Projecto Life 94/0/A221/P/01043/LIS" e à "Cartografia da Vegetação Natural e Semi-Natural do Território Português", realizados pela equipa do Departamento de Protecção de Plantas e de Fitoecologia do Instituto Superior de Agronomia - Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. A la base, des basaltes à amphiboles et boules d'épidote dérivent, par faible fusion partielle, d'une source mantellique enrichie en éléments hygromagmaphiles légers. Vient ensuite l'intime association de laves intermédiaires et felsiques, de pyroclastites grossières généralement felsiques et monogéniques, et de filon-couches hypovolcaniques de diorite. Toutes ces roches sont comagmatiques, et liées aux basaltes de la base. Les filon-couches font la transition entre la diorite de Bourlamaque qui noyaute le complexe volcanique central de Val d'Or, et le volcanisme effusif. Le cachet géochimique est calcoalcalin, mais les tendances d'évolution (cristallisation fractionnée anhydre) sont tholéiitiques : elles varient selon la stratigraphie, par évolution des modalités de fractionnement et appauvrissement de la source mantellique. Au sommet, la formation de Héva, avec des basaltes évolués hyperalumineux d'affinité tholéiitique plus franche, marque le retour progressif au volcanisme abyssal, après celui d'arc insulaire (formation de Val d'Or) : ils proviennent d'un centre éruptif et d'une lignée d'évolution différents. Un modèle de bassin marginal permettrait de concilier tous ces caractères et pourrait expliquer la contradiction tholéiitique. calcoalcalÎn, qui mériterait une étude détaillée. La minéralogie est issue des altérations et métamorphismes successifs, que l'on caractérise grâce à une étude précise de minéraux secondaires: spi!itisation, métasomatoses liées ou non aux minéralisations, métamorphisme régional. Celui-ci est du faciès des schistes verts (zone à biotite). Les problèmes d'interprétation pour la minéralogie des " roches vertes" (termes abusivement banalisé) sont examinés en détail. L'auteur estime que la prospection minière devrait tirer profit de telles études, qu'elle devrait intégrer à ses méthodes comme un élément supplémentaire de reconnaissance des milieux minéralisés par opposition aux zones stériles.

There are several different types of compact heat exchangers used in applications where small size and weight are required. One particular type of compact heat exchanger, the louvered fin heat exchanger, has been used heavily in the automotive and air conditioning industries. Over the last several decades, the majority of the work towards improving louvered fin exchanger efficiency has focused on designing more efficient fins by optimizing fin parameters like louver angle, fin pitch, louver pitch, and louver length. At this point in time, many improvements to standard louver geometry have been made, so other surfaces and methods of enhancing exchanger performance need to be studied if any significant future efficiency gains are to be expected.
This thesis presents a detailed experimental study that has two major foci relative to the performance of the louvered fin compact heat exchanger. The first is to determine the effect of louver length on pressure drop and tube wall heat transfer, which is the primary heat transfer surface in the heat exchanger. The second is to augment tube wall heat transfer with the use of delta winglets placed on the fins near the tube wall. These studies were completed on a 20X scale model of a louvered fin exchanger with a fin pitch to louver pitch ratio of 0.76 and a louver angle of 27°, over a Reynolds number range based on louver pitch of 230 < ReLp < 1016. The three louver lengths evaluated were 100%, 82%, and 70% of the fin height and delta winglet experiments were performed for louver length to fin pitch ratios of 100% and 70%. Heat transfer results for the louver length tests show that decreasing louver length leads to increases in tube wall heat transfer of 0% to 50% depending on Reynolds number. Also, delta winglets placed on the fins near the tube wall have been shown to produce average tube wall heat transfer augmentations of up to 52%.Master of Science

Au cours de la dernière décennie des formes de travail librement consenties pour améliorer la vie des consommateurs s’imposent dans différents domaines (transport, hébergement, réparation, etc.) conduisant à un glissement d’un consommateur « servi » par le marché à un consommateur « auto produit ». Ce travail de thèse s’appuie sur l’étude d’une forme inscrite dans ce mouvement. A travers une observation ethnographique, nous avons suivi de manière longitudinale l’évolution d’un supermarché coopératif et participatif. Ce projet à but non lucratif, souhaite mettre en vente des produits de qualité à moindre coût. La condition pour y accéder consiste en la prise de parts dans le capital social et la fourniture mensuelle de trois heures de travail par les membres.Dans cette recherche, nous montrons comment l’émergence de cette nouvelle forme vient bousculer les acceptations de la participation du consommateur en marketing, de la mise au travail des consommateurs (Dujarier, 2010), du travail bénévole et de l’alternative. Il s’agit d’une part, d’un travail porté par les bénévoles qui s’assignent une exigence de professionnels et d’autre part, d’un projet qui se dit responsable et alternatif et qui pourtant semble s’écarter des conventions en la matière au regard des arbitrages opérés.A travers cette recherche ressort un nouveau registre de sens d’un consommateur travaillant de manière bénévole caractérisé par engagement sans militantisme et limité par un contrat de travail bénévole. Ce collectif de consommateurs combine une approche utopiste et pragmatiste, qui consent à fournir un travail gratuit en reproduisant le modèle salarié des entreprises et met en pratique ses compétences pour d’abord répondre à ses propres besoinsOver the last decade, forms of voluntary consumer work have emerged in different areas (transport, accommodation, repair, etc.). They lead to a shift from a consumer "served" by the market to an "auto-produced" consumer.This Phd thesis is based on the study of a form of organization part of this movement, through the realization of a longitudinal study of the creation and launch of a cooperative and participatory supermarket, La Louve. This non-profit project proposes to offer quality food products at low cost. The work of its members is at the heart of the organizational and economic model of the cooperative, each consumer member having to provide 3 hours of work per month.Through this research, the acceptance of consumer participation in marketing, of working consumers (Dujarier, 2010), of voluntary work and of alternative are shaken. The thesis identifies a new form of work carried out by consumer-volunteers who self-assign the demands of professionals. It highlights the emergence of an organizational form supported by an alternative and responsible discourse, but whose management practices remain anchored in a pragmatic and non-militant approach. This collective of consumers reveals a utopian and pragmatist approach, the cooperators agreeing to provide free work by reproducing the salaried model of the companies and put into practice their skills to first meet their own needs.From this research, a new register of meaning emerges, that of a consumer working in a voluntary way characterized by his commitment without militancy and limited by a contract of voluntary work

Previous issue date: 2006-02-20The object of this dissertation is the body, which praises and adores the Sacred through the dance. And for that object to be understood, a historical cutting of the body in the Judaism was made at first, later the body was put into discussion in a Greek dual vision, which still persists in our days. That body was also discussed, from the pentecostalism to the neopentecostalism, noticing that it is seen as a Temple of the Holy Spirit. Finally, knowledge about this body was sought in the perspective of a phenomenological approach. Speeches of 08 (eight) subjects, who experience the existence of the dance in their bodies in the evangelical cults, were collected. Besides the formal speeches, the help of informal ones and observations was used, concerning no predetermined styles of dance, but the existence and each subject's glance at the experience of placing their bodies to adore the Sacred. Starting with the collected speeches, guided by the interrogation "What is the body, which praises and adores God through the dance, like?", the understandings and reflections were tracked in search of knowing the body that dances with its own glances. The body that dances with other senses was looked at, and felt by people who are considered to be worshipers in the evangelical cults. Thus, according to the foundations of the phenomenological research, a particular perspective was sought; completely hermeneutic in a certain moment; the studied phenomenon was observed, searching for a deeper analysis of the universe essence in question.
O objeto desta dissertação é o corpo que louva e adora ao Sagrado, mediante a dança. E para que seja compreendido esse objeto, primeiro foi feito um recorte histórico do corpo no judaísmo, depois falou-se sobre o corpo numa visão dual grega que persiste até nossos dias. Discutiu-se, também, sobre esse corpo, do pentecostalismo ao neopentecostalismo, percebendo que o mesmo é visto como Templo do Espírito Santo e, por fim, buscou-se conhecer esse corpo na perspectiva de uma abordagem fenomenológica. Foram coletados discursos de 08 (oito) sujeitos, que experimentam a vivência da dança em seus corpos nos cultos evangélicos. Além dos discursos formais, também contou-se com a ajuda de discursos informais e observações, não havendo preocupação com estilos predeterminados de dança, mas sim com a vivência e o olhar de cada sujeito para com a experiência de colocar seu corpo para adorar ao Sagrado. A partir dos discursos coletados, orientados pela interrogação "Como é o corpo que louva e adora a Deus, mediante a dança?", foram trilhados os entendimentos e reflexões em busca de conhecer o corpo que dança com os próprios olhares. Olhou-se para o corpo que dança com outros sentidos, e sentido por pessoas que são consideradas adoradores nos cultos evangélicos. Assim, consoante os fundamentos da pesquisa fenomenológica, buscou-se encontrar uma perspectiva particular, e totalmente hermenêutica em um dado momento; olhou-se para o fenômeno situado, buscando um aprofundamento na essência do universo em questão.

In this thesis, I demonstrate how analysis through literary criticism can provide a commentary on Appalachian song. While literary analysis of both sacred and secular song lyrics is an approach that is largely overlooked in this region’s traditional music, it nonetheless provides insightful perspective on the art form itself. As I argue, one particular duo of Appalachian musicians, the Louvin Brothers, are uniquely suited to this inquiry. I propose that themes that are found in many of the Louvin Brothers’ songs, such as love, acceptance, and rejection, create a bridge between the historically documented theoretical gap between bluegrass and country music’s sacred and secular songs. I document how the Louvins successfully navigated these traditionally separate subgenres using these common subjects while offering a commentary on musical history, their own upbringing, and religion.

The salmon louse (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) is recognised as a major pathogen of farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). With the growth in salmon farming in Scotland and Norway the problem of lice and the need to understand more about their biology and population dynamics has grown. The aims of this study were to examine various aspects of the reproductive biology of L. salmonis and increase fundamental knowledge of this area. It was discovered that the male reproductive system consisted of a pair of testes, vasa deferentia, spermatophore sacs and cement glands and the female reproductive system consisted of a pair of ovaries, oviducts, cement glands, and a single receptaculum seminis. The processes of spermatogenesis, cogenesis and spermatophore formation were examined and compared with those of other species of copepod. Mating in L. salmonis began with the establishment of a precopulatory pair, between an adult male and predominantly a preadult II female. Following the final moult of the female, copulation proceeded and a pair of spermatophores were transferred by the male onto the female. Details of the mating process and associated reproductive behaviour are described. The possible involvement of sex pheromones in mate location was examined. Both adult males and preadult II females were extremely mobile and freely changed host individual. Some evidence was found to suggest preadult II females produced a chemical stimulus to attract conspecifics. Reproductive output and investment by adult female L. salmonis were examined. Distinct seasonal variation in reproductive output existed in the field and under laboratory conditions. Summer generation females produced 6 batches of eggs whereas winter generation females may have produced 4 or 5 batches. Egg strings produced in summer were shorter and had fewer, larger, eggs compared to egg strings produced in winter. Summer generation females invested more protein per egg than winter generation females, which invested more protein per string. It appeared that total reproductive investment by winter and summer generation females may have been equal. Differences in reproductive output and investment were influenced by changes in environmental parameters, particularly temperature. Preliminary studies into the effect of egg size on hatching and nauplius survival were carried out. These results suggested different reproductive strategies were adopted by winter and summer generations of adult female L. salmonis under different environmental conditions. The causes and implications of these different reproductive strategies are discussed.
