Abstract:
In this paper, a new version of the nonlinear model with two women competing vehemently for an attractive man in a competitive love-triangle is proposed, which provides more insight into the dynamical behaviors of the complex love-triangle relationship. A notable and important feature of this model is that the effects of the competition, single-frequency and multiple-frequency external periodic forcing terms are introduced into the model, as environmental fluctuation on every individual in the love-triangle relationship. By analyzing the dynamical behaviors of the competitive love-triangle model through analytical techniques and numerical simulation, we find that under some simple parametric conditions, with the effects of external periodic forcing, the model gives rise to the appearance of various phenomena such as stability, quasi-limit cycles, and resonant responses. The results show that system parameters and external periodic forcing play a key role in the love-triangle relationship: system parameters can be the control parameters and their different appropriate values can produce different phenomena, while external periodic forcing can enhance or weaken the oscillations of the feeling density, and moreover, the interesting phenomenon called resonant response can occur under some suitable conditions. In this way, complex types of love feelings can be described and it is closer to the reality.

Abstract:
Abstract Love triangle, or eternal triangle, has been the focus of many plays where the plot revolves around a three-sided affair in which the woman becomes a site of love competition between two males, the husband and the lover. The majority of those plays present the woman as the erring wife who chooses either to be with the lover or remorsefully remain with the husband. In this paper, we deal with another portrayal of love triangle in which the wife either defends her marriage or stands against the intruder. Such a portrayal is identified in August Strindberg’s ‘The Stronger’ and G.B. Shaw’s Candida. Yet, this does not suggest that the plot in both plays is identical. While the intruder in Strindberg’s play is a woman, it is a young poet in Shaw’s play. Moreover, whereas Shaw’s play ends with the intruder’s departure opening the space for the husband and wife to continue their marriage on a new basis of understanding, the conflict remains unresolved in Strindberg’s play. This paper argues that this contrastive portrayal of love triangle in both plays relies, to a great extent, on the playwright’s personal experience and also his notion of the woman and her role in the domestic and public spheres. Key words: love triangle, Strindberg, Shaw, ‘The Stronger’, Candida.

Abstract:
It is common to see Myshkin, the principal character of Dostoevsky’s The Idiot, as a failed lover and a compassionate saintly figure, who gets entangled in a love triangle but cannot embody it. This paper challenges such a view and argues that Myshkin fully incarnates the violent dynamic of desire that governs the novel. With the help of René Girard’s notion of mimetic desire, the paper explores Myshkin’s relationship with Rogozhin as erotic rivalry. Instead of seeing the two characters as autonomous entities, it is suggested that they should be viewed as doubles, as two poles of the same consciousness. On this view, Myshkin’s compassion and Rogozhin’s lust become two different manifestations of the same desire, united by a conflict of interest, which drives the love triangle towards a violent resolution.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Miss Sophie’s Diary, a landmark novel by Chinese feminist writer Ding Ling, radically transformed traditional love stories for women. In this diary-style novel, a lady’s psychological activities are revealed by adopting a modern woman’s unique gender consciousness and the feminist discourse. As a remarkable literary work, it upended all previous love stories and centered on the eternal triangle between Sophie, the protagonist, and two male characters. Sophie’s behavior used to be criticized as immoral. However, these moral standards were gender-biased and did not necessarily apply to all women. In the following article, Sophie’s view of love is analyzed based on Gilligan’s ethics of care. It turns out that her love triangle caused inner conflicts that propelled her through three stages of growth: self-preservation, self-sacrifice, as well as balance and maturity. Her pursuit and rejection of love revealed the inner turmoil and pain of a feminist striving for independence in an oppressive era. Her diaries witnessed her growth in dealing with self–other relationships and ultimately made her stronger. By rising above the moral dilemmas, Sophie made her voice heard and became a role model for Chinese women in the new era.

Abstract:
The mitochondrion is at the core of cellular energy metabolism, being the site of most ATP generation. Calcium is a key regulator of mitochondrial function and acts at several levels within the organelle to stimulate ATP synthesis. However, the dysregulation of mitochondrial Ca2+ homeostasis is now recognized to play a key role in several pathologies. For example, mitochondrial matrix Ca2+ overload can lead to enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species, triggering of the permeability transition pore, and cytochrome c release, leading to apoptosis. Despite progress regarding the independent roles of both Ca2+ and mitochondrial dysfunction in disease, the molecular mechanisms by which Ca2+ can elicit mitochondrial dysfunction remain elusive. This review highlights the delicate balance between the positive and negative effects of Ca2+ and the signaling events that perturb this balance. Overall, a “two-hit” hypothesis is developed, in which Ca2+ plus another pathological stimulus can bring about mitochondrial dysfunction.

This study aims to investigate the spillover effects from geopolitical risks (proxied by the geopolitical risk index GPRD) and cryptocurrencies-related uncertainty (proxied by the Cryptocurrency Uncertainty Index UCRY) to cryptocurrencies. We utilize the Baruník and Křehlík (2018) framework to detect time-frequency connectedness. Our investigation for the period 2017 to 2022 discovers significant spillover effects from both indices (GPRD and UCRY) to cryptocurrencies. Utilizing the information transmission theory and network graphs, our findings reveal that some cryptocurrencies function as net receivers of spillovers from geopolitical risks and uncertainty in the short-term, while over longer time horizons they transform into net transmitters of spillovers to uncertainty. The study underscores the importance of comprehending how uncertainty due to various factors (geopolitical, policy changes, regulatory changes, etc.) could affect the cryptocurrencies’ markets.

Abstract:
Abstract This article interprets the central erotic triangle between Lily Bart, Lawrence Selden, and Simon Rosedale in The House of Mirth (1905) as a modernized restaging of the love triangle in Madame de Lafayette’s La Princesse de Clèves (1678). Through the lens of the seventeenth-century French novel, which Wharton characterized as inaugurating the debut of “modern fiction” in The Writing of Fiction, readers can see how Wharton condemns, in The House of Mirth, the stated motivations of its characters as fundamentally unreliable and their attempts at self-knowledge as futile. In this way, both novels highlight epistemological failures—whether about love, friendship, or status—when characters falter just on the brink of attaining their desires. The last part of this study examines Rosedale’s love for Lily, his active care for her, and his jealousy, which have not received adequate scholarly attention, as well as proposes a new reading of Lily’s rejection of Rosedale’s last marriage proposal.

Abstract:
Abstract This article offers an historical reexamination of the triangular relationship between the occultist and poet Aleister Crowley (1875–1947), the scholar and art historian Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy (Āṉanta Kumāracuvāmi, 1877–1947), and the artist and singer Ratan Devī Coomaraswamy (or “Ratan Devi,” alias Alice Ethel Richardson, 1889–1958). The article first covers each angle of their relationships, with special attention to their approach towards religious art and especially Śaiva (an)iconography where relevant. It then treats a heated, racially charged exchange that the disintegration of this love triangle evoked, and considers how a Thelema-specific idea of “phallic worship” can be found at the neglected margins of Indological art history. The main argument of the article is to show that understanding intimate relationships both within and outside of conventional gender binaries or orientations in twentieth-century worlds of art history can help reveal tension points that endure even in fields not immediately related to a given movement, in this case the Thelemic current. The article accordingly seeks to provide new information about this specific triangular relationship and its relevance to scholars working on various branches of esotericism and its intersection with yoga, Tantra, and South Asia more broadly.

Abstract:
In this article it is argued that the Old Testament book Song of Songs can serve as a present-day paradigm for romantic relationships. Song of Songs is being viewed as a collection of love poems and songs where the romantic relationship between a man and a woman is in the focus. The authors discuss the so called “love triangle” which is to be found in Song of Songs. The challenge for correcting relationships with regards to reciprocity and equility in this relationship is also researched followed by the important (albeit absent in the text itself) acknowledgement of people’s own limitation and dependence on God. This article therefore deals with the roles of men and women in connection with love, the complexities of love and suggests nine consequences of Song of Songs for romantic relationships. The article ends with a short discussion on the adventure of love.

Abstract:
Abstract By analysing three paradigmatic passages, this paper explores how Prudentius uses classical love motifs and imagery not only to lambast paganism, but also as a powerful rhetorical tool to convey his Christian message. The ‘fire of love’ imagery is conspicuous in Psychomachia 53–57, which wittily blends Christian and erotic language. In an entirely different context (C. Symm. 2.1071–1085), the flamma amoris is also fully exploited to depict lustful young Vestal Virgins, in combination with other classical metaphors of passion, such as the ‘wound of love’ and the signa amoris. Additionally, the contrast between heat and cold is a central element in the description of the Vestals’ tardy nuptials, redolent of classical satirical portraits of vetulae libidinosae. Finally, in Hamartigenia 628–636 the relationship between the soul and God draws from a Christian tradition of bridal (and coital) representation, but the lapse into sin is portrayed as the love triangle, typical of the Latin love elegy. These examples illustrate how Prudentius creatively and consciously frames love and sex imagery in new contexts, exploring their potential and infusing clichés with new meanings and forms.

Abstract:
The article explores the motif of love in a totalitarian society in Anchee Min’s novel “Wild Ginger”. Though an American citizen, Anchee Min belongs to a group of modern Chinese-American writers whose interests focus around the past of her home country China. Childhood and teenage years which Min spent in Communist China provided her with a lot of material for her later novels. In Wild Ginger through a classic plot of love triangle the writer approaches the motif of love in the times of Cultural Revolution. The author examines love as a relationship between a man and a woman, and as a religious feeling and communist ideology. Grotesque becomes the main literary device. Over-exaggeration bordering on incredibility expresses the author’s rejection of the surrounding reality. Intertwining comical and tragical situations, the novels brings the reader to a conclusion that love is the only means of attainting personal freedom and maturity in a totalitarian society.

Abstract:
In 1891, Luther H. Gulik, a prominent member of the international leadership of the YMCA of the United States, established the triangle as the YMCA symbol. He saw the triangle as a symbol imbued with Christian beliefs that would become the spearhead of a worldwide missionary movement. About the Triangle, Gulik wrote:The triangle stands . . . for the symmetrical man, each part developed with reference to the whole, and not merely with reference to itself. . . . What authority have we for believing that this triangle idea is correct? It is scriptural. . . . Such statements as, “Thou shalt love the Lord Thy God with all they heart and soul and mind and strength,” indicate . . . the scriptural view . . . that the service of the Lord includes the whole man. The words, which in the Hebrew and Greek are translated “strength,” refer in both cases entirely to physical strength. As the YMCA International Committee's first secretary for athletic work (1889–1902), Gulik had strong reason to create a symbol that could be recognized anywhere in the world. He was a firm believer in the expanding Muscular Christianity movement, which glorified patriotic duty and manliness expressed through athletics, and a strong believer in the civilizing agency of missionary Protestantism as it sought to establish a United States Christian righteous empire.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to apply self-love to help maintain mental health and reduce the risk of disorders in one's psychological condition in Ghea Indrawati's "Sad Soul" video clip. This analysis focuses on how the depiction of self-love is contained in each scene, then continues on Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic model (triangle meaning). This research is qualitative research and uses semiotic analysis owned by Charles Sanders Peirce. For Charles Sanders Peirce, the fundamental principle of the nature of signs is representative and interpretive nature. The music video of the song "Sad Soul" was chosen because the music video has many moral messages aimed at loving yourself, this concept encourages someone to be able to recognize and accept themselves then be able to treat themselves well and as they are. The results of this study have 3 aspects, namely self-love as soft love for oneself that focuses on planting, nurturing, and developing oneself. Self-love as a dynamic state of self-appreciation, which grows from actions that support physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. Self-love as a feeling of comfort and the ability to set aside time for self-care.

Abstract:
Different studies show the relationship between subclinical psychopathy and the strategies of distancing and avoidance that prevent the formation of stable and lasting emotional bonds in the couple. The study analyses subclinical psychopathy and the relationship style/love type in a sample of 1289 university students to determine its frequency, as well as the relationship between psychopathy and the relationship style/love type. The Integrated/Subclinical Psychopathy Questionnaire (CUPIS) and the Triangle of Love Scale (TLS) were used. It was found that a significant percentage of these students presents features that characterise subclinical psychopathy. In addition, it was found that the higher the score in psychopathy, the lower the intimacy, passion and commitment in their relationships. Furthermore, subclinical psychopathy was found to be a greater predictor of a lack of intimacy and commitment in intimate relationships between couples. In conclusion, we highlight that, in subclinical psychopathy, there are low patterns of intimacy and commitment in relationships; so these are unlikely to remain stable over time.
