Radio and television stations consistently have offered entry-level news salaries below those provided by daily newspapers, public relations, and advertising employers. The data reported in this paper show an oversupply of labor in radio news, television news, and daily newspapers. That oversupply probably serves to hold down salaries generally and to explain the lower pay in television news in comparison with daily newspapers.
