Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to investigate a magnetic resonance imaging-based definition of lower uterine segment carcinoma. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 587 consecutive patients with endometrial cancer who underwent hysterectomy. Lower uterine segment carcinoma was determined through pathological examination and magnetic resonance imaging assessment. For imaging assessment, the location of the inner lining of the uterus was classified into four equal parts on a sagittal section image. A tumor was defined as lower uterine segment carcinoma when its thickest part was loc

Antenatal and intrapartum fetal monitoring aim to identify the beginning of the process of fetal hypoxia before irreversible fetal damage has taken place. Fetal movement counting by the mother has not been reported to be of any benefit. The biophysical profile score, incorporating ultrasound and fetal heart rate monitoring, has not been proven to reduce perinatal mortality in randomized trials. Doppler ultrasound allows the exploration of the perfusion of different fetal organ systems and provides data on possible hypoxia and fetal anaemia. The pelvic skeleton is bowl-shaped and contains part of the digestive system, the last parts of the urinary system and the internal reproductive organs. Adult women with fibroid uterus were randomized to either surgery (myomectomy or hysterectomy) or uterine artery eumbolization. Both resulted in similar quality of life scores at one year after the procedure. UAE did result in lower pain scores 24 hours post-procedure, and had a faster return to work, but had a reintervention rate of 20% within the first year.

Abstract The uterine cervix is one of the tissues forming the lower female genital tract, a term which also encompasses the vagina and vulva. Whilst this text is concerned with the cervix uteri, it must be remembered that human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, intra-epithelial neoplasia, and carcinoma may affect all these tissues simultaneously or asynchronously. Disease in the cervix, therefore, often forms part of a field change in the lower genital tract, and this may influence the course of the patient’s disease and modify their clinical management.

Uterine fibroid is leiomyoma (non-cancerous tumor) originating from the uterus's smooth muscle layer (myometrium). According to a recent study, it is anticipated that about 70 to 80% of females worldwide will be affected by uterine fibroid disease over their lifetime. It is most common in 30 to 40-year-old women but can occur at any age. Fibroids grow as clusters in single nodules. Clusters of fibroids can range in size from 1 mm to more than 20cm (8 inches) in diameter or even larger. In comparison, they can get as large as a watermelon. The torsion can be due to a congenital anomaly or an obstetrics emergency such as with an ovarian torsion.
