The trilobite Phacops rana var. milleri Stewart, 1927, was based on five specimens collected from the Silica Shale (Middle Devonian) in a quarry formerly owned by the Sandusky Cement Company, near Silica, Lucas County, Ohio. Background/Objectives: Ohio communities are developing and expanding care coordination initiatives to integrate care for low-income pregnant women. Some of these initiatives are guided by the Pathways Community HUB model, which uses community healthworkers to address health, social, and behavioral risks for at-risk populations. This study documents the development, challenges andmanagement responses, and lessons learned from implementing a Pathways Community HUB care coordination program for anotherpopulation -- low-income adults with chronic disease risks. Methods: The study utilizes data extr

Research indicates that kinship care in the child welfare system is increasing each year. Most child welfare agencies, however, do not provide adequate services to relative caregivers. The needs assessment presented here analyzed the service needs of a representative sample of relative caregivers at Lucas County Children Services in Toledo, Ohio. Field interviews were used to gather qualitative data. Results indicated that relatives needed tangible items such as beds, food, and clothing in the initial stages of placement. Ongoing needs included information regarding case progress and system pr

For decades, researchers have been concerned with house price modeling, and recognition has grown for the necessity of considering environmental and contextual variables in the process. This research examines the association between neighborhood characteristics and all individual house sale prices in Lucas County, Ohio, from 2012 to 2016, through a multilevel modeling (MLM) approach. Although there are various ways to define neighborhoods, census tracts and school districts are used in this study. Abstract This study investigates the effects of changes in land-use on the hydrology of the Swan Creek watershed in Lucas County, Ohio, over a thirty-year period. The study presents the GIS based runoff models and the HEC-RAS Flood analysis for the watershed. The runoff modeling was performed using a modification of the rational formula first proposed by Rossmiller in 1980. The C factor (land use) in the rational equation (Q = CIA) is modified to account for land use, soil type and slope factors. Four model runs for each of the land-use coverages were created based on the statistical precipita

Abstract Background Ohio ranks 43rd in the nation in infant mortality rates (IMR); with IMR among non-Hispanic black infants is three times higher than white infants. Objective To identify the social factors determining the vulnerability of Ohio counties to IMR and visualize the spatial association between relative social vulnerability and IMR at county and census tract levels. Methods The social vulnerability index (SVICDC) is a measure of the relative social vulnerability of a geographic unit.
