This thesis deals with investments funds in Czech Republich and Luxembourg. The goal is to characterize historical development, and also actual situation of investment funds, to specify the main differences and common features of this investment form in both countries. Furthermore, it analyzes main charakteristics of fund industry in these countries. The last part focuses on potential future development and trend in this segment. Thesis points to advantages of investing financial resources in Luxemburgian investment funds or constitution of the collective investment fund in this region.

v anglickém jazyce The aim of this Master's thesis is to answer the question why Luxembourg contributes more to official development assistance (ODA) than recommended, why it increases its official development assistance to 1% of GNI. The work is based on the hypothesis that Luxembourg, a small state, is trying to increase its status through foreign development cooperation and through its gradual increase in official development assistance. By reaching 0.7% of GNI, Luxembourg is among the other four countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, which have already met this threshold.

The work focuses at the life of prominent noblewomen in the 14th century. On the example of Catherine of Luxembourg, the daughter of Charles IV, the thesis depicts the social roles and situations of princesses throughout their course of life. These roles included the role of a daughter, wife, mother, and a widow. The princesses also served as important instruments of marriage politics. The analysis is complemented by additional information on other Czech princesses of the Luxembourg dynasty.
