Abstract:
Staphylococcus aureus has emerged as a major cause of implant infections. It is known that it is able to produce several toxins that contribute to its armory of virulent weapons, but there are still no data on their prevalence among isolates recovered from biomaterial-centered infections. In this study, 200 Staphylococcus aureus isolates from infections related to different types of orthopedic implants (hip and knee arthroprostheses, internal and external fixation devices) were tested by polymerase chain reaction for the prevalence of genes encoding for leukotoxins. Although almost all isolates were positive for the γ-hemolysin gene (99%), none was positive for lukM. The leukotoxin genes lukE/lukD were found in 67% of isolates. The presence of lukE/lukD was significantly associated with that of Accessory Gene Regulatory locus agr II. The lukE/lukD-positive isolates were significantly more prevalent in the staphylococcal isolates from knee arthroprostheses than in the isolates from the other implant types. The genes encoding Panton-Valentine leukocidin components were detected in only one isolate that, curiously enough, was taken solely from a knee arthroprosthesis infection.

Abstract:
AbstractIt is very doubtful whether Lk 6:5D goes back to Jesus, but two things are clear: (i) it suits a background lacking a firm common ethical authority, and (ii) for that reason it is repugnant to any who would enforce substantive norms. It comes early in the church's development, though it is no part of any gospel. Parallels at Jn 7:49, 9:41; Lk 11:52Q; and Mt 23:3 are worth comparing with it. In general it takes a position opposite to that adopted by Apostolic Fathers. The idea can be traced to Pentateuchal and Prophetic texts (but not via a Jewish exegesis); and so scripture still influenced norms (irrespective of apologetic). Former explanations of the verse are shown to be superfluous and misdirected.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is an attempt to give an objective picture of the relationship between the party-states of the AUCP(b)-USSR and the Russian Orthodox Church during the Great Patriotic War. We support the principle that history is a Man in it, focuse attention on the fate and activities of Archbishop Luke of Tambov and Michurinsk (V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky). The study used methods of content analysis, comparison and research of processes from “themselves”. This allowed to form a picture of the relationship between the Archbishop of Tambov and Michurinsk Luka with the party-state of the AUCP(b)-USSR during the Great Patriotic War on the basis of archival documents and the memoirs of eyewitnesses. We made an attempt to understand the difficult position of the patriot shepherd, who fulfilled his duty as a doctor of souls and bodies in the conditions of World War II with the enemy external and the struggle against the ideological, internal – ruling party-state. Archbishop Luke was an opponent of the party-Soviet system in the USSR during the first half of the 20th century and at the same time a patriot of his homeland, an effective participant in the Great Patriotic War. This allows us to draw the following conclusions: a) in the conditions of a military alternative, the patriot Archbishop Luka performed the feat of a doctor and a shepherd for the benefit of Victory; b) the tragedy of the Motherland and flock led him to give up personal accounts with the party-state of the AUCP(b)-USSR in the name of Victory; c) the participation in this war of Archbishop Luka – thousands of saved Soviet soldiers on the operating table and huge financial donations to the Victory fund; d) the son of his homeland, he tried in every possible way to protect the spirituality of his flock from the ideological and organizational pressure of militant atheism; e) the humanism of Archbishop Luke was in his execution of the oath of Hippocrates, when he healed captured soldiers and officers of the enemy army.

Abstract:
The non-Wycliffite Middle English commentaries on the Synoptic Gospels in MSS London, British Library Egerton 842 (Matt.), Cambridge, University Library Ii.2.12 (Matt.), and Cambridge, Corpus Christi College Parker 32 (Mark and Luke) are important witnesses to the widespread appeal of scholastic exegesis in later fourteenth-century England. They appear to have been produced by two different commentators (or teams of commentators) who worked without knowledge of one another's undertakings but responded similarly to the demand for vernacular biblical material. The commentary on Matthew represents a more extensive effort at compilation than the Mark and Luke texts, and, in his elaborate prologue, the Matthew commentator translates the priorities of scholastic Latin criticism even as he tailors his writing to meet the perceived needs of his English readers. Especially when considered alongside the WycliffiteGlossed Gospels, these texts illustrate further the variety and richness of vernacular biblical commentary composed in the decades following the important precedent of Richard Rolle'sEnglish Psalter.

Abstract:
This thesis presents the process of constructing new mythological figures in Spanish cinema after Francoisme (1975-1995). During the transition period (1975-1983) various new images emerged in Spanish film concerning the female body, homosexual body and delinquent body. It is by analysing the appearance of the new thought-images of these bodies that we can understand the process of constructing new myths in Spanish cinema. The discussion begins with the definition of myths as systems of beliefs expressed by new thought-images of the body. Then, it is shown how the body can be referred to different kinds of archetypes (femme fatale, mother figure, male heroism, etc. ). Finally, it is demonstrated how the body expressed these archetypes through its thought-images in a contemporary language symbolising possibly stereotypes, prototypes and clichés. .

Abstract:

Abstract:
Although valuable data now exists concerning lube oil mists, there seemingly lacked a global approach to (i) the basic processes that generate these mists, (ii) the real contribution of the oil vapors and (iii) the possible impacts on the lubricant in service. This paper discusses these aspects and also reports the findings of comparative elimination tests, which confirm the high performance of the glass microfiber technology.
