Hunting was one of three pillars, along with fishing and reindeer husbandry in the early modern Sami economy, and understanding of Sami hunting has increased during recent decades. However, most research has concentrated on time periods before AD 1600. After AD 1600 and the initial formation of modern Nordic countries, hunting ceased to be the backbone of the overall Sami economy but continued as an integral part of household economies. Our aim is to advance understanding of early modern hunting in northwestern interior Fennoscandia. Using source materials including court rulings and historica

The Indo-European languages are represented through the North Germanic branch, and conversely the ‘homeland’ of the North Germanic branch is more or less exclusively located within the borders of the Nordic countries. While previous accounts of the language claim that the Lule Saami galggat ‘shall; must; intend’ is a future auxiliary, there are two other potential candidates for what might be called a future tense as well. On the basis of actual language use, the potential mood in Lule Saami does not always refer to states of affairs to be understood as uncertain or only possible, but is also used to refer to future events with no visible shades of possibility or other modalities. Very little research has been done on this endangered language, especially when it comes to the field of language acquisition. The primary cause was the ecological instability of reindeer herding with recurring crises caused by poor grazing, adverse snow conditions, epizootics, and predators. Abstract This chapter discusses two species models, which are diametrically opposed. The first, often called the 'biological species concept', defines species in terms of 'reproductive isolation', convinced that species arise when subsets of a population are split off and remain geographically isolated over evolutionary time. If and when such new species are reunited with their founder population, interbreeding does not occur, or if it does, infertile progeny result. Hence, from the biological species concept, natural selection is a primary agent of change and directly selects for new species.

In Italy the word ‘tiorba’ was synonymous with ‘chitarrone’, the name popularly used for the same instrument in the first three decades of the seventeenth century. The name chitarrone, from the Greek ‘kithara’, reflects the idea, strong in the minds of the instrument’s inventors, that the instrument was the modern counterpart of the kithara used by the self-accompanying poets of classical antiquity.

Abstract:
The slider of a Load/unload (LUL) drive can be loaded to a high flying stable state under certain conditions, which positions the read/write transducers much higher from the disk surface than the normal flying height (FH) and resulting in the issues in read or write. To avoid the issues caused by the high flying loading, it is necessary to find ways to recognize the existence of the high FH and eliminate it in the design stages. In this paper, we introduce a method that can identify the existences of the multiple FHs in loading process conveniently. The basic idea is to plot surfaces of air be

The continuous focus on improving engine efficiency and fulfilling new emissions legislations in high speed large bore (HSLB) applications is demanding higher performance of cylinder power cell. Regarding piston rings, this can be translated into the need for increased wear and scuff resistance in conjunction with low friction. However, there is no room to jeopardize the engine performance in terms of lube oil control and combustion gas sealing (i.e. blow-by). The reduction in ring friction is linked with three main factors: reduction of ring tangential load, reduction of ring axial width and

A plasmonic Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) sensor has been used for emulation of Near Field Transducer (NFT) in Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). Laser heating mechanism by the sensor is the same as that by NFT with electro-magnetic near-field or plasmonic field, which is different from far field heating. Heating behavior for a lubricant film on a carbon overcoat for a hard disk medium was observed using Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy with the plasmonic SERS sensor. Spectral change of lube films in laser heating with a continuous power changer was measured with heating

Abstract With the objective to drill two wells shared from one conductor with independent wellhead and completion, ADNOC Offshore drilling team pioneered for the first time in Umm Lulu field and ADNOC UAE the Conductor sharing drilling technique. Which is to drill two wells from one single conductor in wellhead tower. Well planning technique drilling 42" hole and run 36" conductor, then install lower male connector and run conductor Down Hole Guide (DHG) assembly to be a guide for both two wells. Land the DHG on the lower male connector. Install upper male connector, which is equipped with two
