Abstract:

Abstract:
The performances of 49 brain-injured community college students (41% women; M age = 34.0 yr., SD = 13.6) on two neo-Lurian assessment batteries were investigated. Pearson correlations among the 11 clinical subtests of the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery, Form I and 10 Planning, Attention, Simultaneous Processing, and Successive Processing (PASS) experimental tasks are reported. While the correlations were largely weak to moderate, a few interpretable trends in these relationships emerged. Over-all, the irregular and diffuse pattern of significant correlations may, in part, reflect the heterogeneity of the Luria-Nebraska battery's subscales. Implications for the cognitive assessment and remediation of patients with brain injuries are briefly discussed.

Abstract:
The objective of the present study was to discuss the theoretical and methodological principles recommended by Alexsander Romanovich Luria and their application to neuropsychological and educational assessment in infants. We present a case study of a male child, 11 years of age, diagnosed with generalized idiopathic epilepsy absence with a history of school in mathematics. The neuropsychological evaluation followed four steps proposed by Luria: (1) qualitative analysis of the symptoms, (2) quantitative evaluation of activity, (3) qualitative evaluation of activity, and (4) the proposition of a rehabilitation program. These steps were contemplated based on a neuropsychological protocol composed of nomothetic and idiographic tasks. We found deficits in manipulation activities, especially ones that demand visuospatial and visuoconstructive skills, associated with school difficulties in mathematics. The Lurian method allowed us to identify preserved and compromised cognitive functions, allowing interventions that minimized the identified deficits. Keywords: Neuropsychological Assessment. Mathematical Activity. Luria. Epilepsy Absence. Childhood. Abstract:
Luria has long been one of the most influential authors in cognitive neurosciences, in particular in neuropsychology. New scientific advances and clinical observations have confirmed many of his proposals and hypotheses. In this paper one of his major ideas is analyzed: the influence of cultural factors on human cognition. The systemic-dynamic Lurian analysis of brain activity is based on Vygotsky's concept of higher mental functions, which are social in origin and complex and dynamic in their structure. Higher mental functions are based on a complex system of operations and means both external and internal. Living conditions and hence cultural characteristics have dramatically changed during the last half century with the development of new media and new virtual ways of communication. Review of contemporary developments supporting the appropriateness and usefulness of these concepts is presented. It is finally concluded that Luria is one of the major founders of contemporary neuropsychology not only from the clinical point of view, but also from the cultural perspective. His influence has continued undiminished during the 21st century.

This thesis is divided in four parts : biography, analysis, documentation and catalogue. The biography is the first to be reserved to jean lurcat (1892-1966) ; it is based on many manuscripts (keeped in the family's archives) and printed works, each year of the artist's life forming the subject of a paragraph. In the analysis of the painting work, we find an historic part ( the artist's career is divided in four distinct parts of creation : beginning, maturity, period of doubt, new impulse) ; in the second place, we find elements of deeper study (society, painting, artistic movements, exterior intervening elements), the themes and the subjects (successively treated : lively being, landscape, still life), bringing to light their symbolic worth, working method (conditions of the work, selection of the materials, system of execution). The documentation offers an abundant bibliography (546 references), the documented list of personal (120) and collective (176) artist's exhibitions, a "fortune critique" with some texts of the greatest historians and critics on the painting of jean lurcat. The catalogue raisonne forms the most important part : 1427 works are registered, 1357 are really catalogued (one page for one work) : 634 oils, 723 water-colours, gouaches and pastels. Are given the references and 1065 illustrations

Abstract:
Native advertising is a marketing strategy that aims to merge advertising into journalistic articles. It is a relatively new form of advertising that is rapidly growing and more media companies are applying this kind of content to secure their future revenues.   This study explores the understanding of native advertising and its impact on peoples trust towards today’s online newspapers. The thesis is a qualitative study based on eight interviews with online news consumers. The theoretical perspective in this study is based on research regarding trust, ethos and the struggling media landscape.   Our study shows that native advertising does have influence on the consumer’s perception towards online newspapers. It also shows that the level of confusion between journalistic content and native advertising is noticeable. For some of our respondents it was hard to define whether they were reading an article written by a journalist or a company.

Abstract:
The first of April, the day of the year everyone go on needles and wondering who will fool you today. Every year at least the mass media try to create an inventive, or less inventive news about something that may became a topic that everyone talks about. Sometimes an April joke becomes a classic one and something that will be remembered a long time after. Therefore, this study will contain a qualitative text analysis on the famous Swedish April joke from 1962, which was about to pull over a nylon stocking over the television to create color TV. A classic, that even the younger generation knows about and is the second-best April joke in the world. We, in this study group belongs to the younger generation which has become a challenge to analyze this April joke which is 56 years old and were before our time. That's why the context of the 60’s has been an important part of this study to have an opportunity to get in to that situation and understand the context. This study is going to analyze which rhetorical means in conjunction with the context that has affected this April joke in the way it did, and with help of rhetorical analysis, study how the theory was used and had an impact on the successful joke. The rhetorical analysis will mainly focus on the arguments used in the April joke, and also the visual language such as body language and the way of talking. The study will make observations in the context, how society and the population looked up to the media and its responsibility for the people. A central part of the context will be the new media, television, that quickly developed during the current decade. Public service with power over the television gave together an important position and a big part in the April joke’s significant context. Our analysis shows good reasons to believe that rhetoric and its arguments are a prerequisite for succeeding in reaching such type of message, and that the position of public service and television at that time had a major role in how April jokes became a general topic and perhaps gave color TV a chance earlier than was meant in Sweden. All those elements together will prove to be a major part of the successful April joke, and through our analyze we find the answer to our question. Discussion and conclusion explain the positive and negative aspects of the analysis and what it has come to, and put it in relation to the context. The study presents interesting topics and suggestions on future research that have emerged after the work has been completed.

Abstract:
The factor structure of the Luria Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery (LNNB) Form II was examined. A principle components factor analysis was performed on a sample of 102 psychiatric and neurologic subjects. It was necessary to remove 45 items from the analysis due to perfect performance by most subjects. The results were orthogonally rotated to simple structure using a Varimax method of rotation, and then compared to previous LNNB Form I and Form II results. Thirty-three factors were generated in the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) . There was a very high agreement with the factors from Form I. Only one new factor was identified that didn't have a comparable Form I factor, and this factor appears to have neurological support. The similarity of the factor solutions between the two forms supports the continued use of factors derived from Form I for the interpretation of Form II, and supports the underlying structure presupposed by Lurian constructs. The present study also tested the significance of the hypothesized factor structures through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). No hypothesis about the underlying factor structure based on previous exploratory studies was supported. The CFA did suggest that the best factor solution to the LNNB Form II is one that (a) has correlated factors and (b) has items loading on more than one factor. The confirmatory results were interpreted as not supporting the current exploratory results, or the previous factor analytic results. Problems notwithstanding, researchers may be better directed to propose factor models for the LNNB that have correlated factors, and to work samples approaching the 10 to 1 recommended sample size for multivariate analysis. One conclusion that was drawn from the concurrence between the two Form II studies pertains to psychiatric populations used in both studies. It was necessary to exclude a large number of items in each study due to perfect performance by most of the subjects on those items. Most of the items removed were identical in both studies supporting the notion that a shortened version of the LNNB could be administered to psychiatric populations.

Abstract:
Nyckelord: Prissättning, Option Framing, beteendeekonomi, revision, redovisning

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
The Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery (LNNB) was published in 1980 as an attempt to provide clinicians with a standardized version of the neuropsychological assessment and diagnostic procedures proposed by A. R. Luria and A, L. Christensen. Research on the LNNB included a series of factor analyses for each of eleven clinical scales. The analyses were completed on the combined scores obtained from a sample of normal, brain-damaged, and psychiatric populations. A second version of the LNNB was published in 1985 as a largely parallel version of Form I, but included changes in stimulus materials, administration procedures, and scoring procedures. The present study completed factor analyses on same eleven clinical scales using data generated with the newer LNNB Form II. The statistical procedures and criteria employed in the present investigation were identical to those used earlier on Form I to allow for comparisons between the two resulting sets of factor structures. The patient populations were different, however, in that all subjects in the current study were receiving inpatient care in a private psychiatric hospital which specializes in long-term treatment. Despite the changes in materials and procedures and the difference in subject parameters, the factors identified in the present investigation are similar to those seen in the Form I studies. However, two trends were observed when comparing the two sets of factor structures. First, in the present study several items were excluded from the statistical procedures because they were performed perfectly by almost everyone and the resulting scores lacked statistical variance. Second, more homogenous factors were obtained with the Form II analysis. That is, some of the complex LNNB Form I factors were reduced to two or more simpler factors. The results of the study lend support to Luna's conceptual model of higher cortical function and to the reliability of the LNNB as an assessment instrument.

Abstract:
Luria’s interpretation of brain organization for language and aphasia is analyzed. He published two major books and a myriad of papers devoted to this topic. Luria is one of the major founders of contemporary aphasiology, as from the fundamental point of view as from the clinical perspective. His significant influence has continued during the 21st century. Many of Luria’s ideas have been integrated into contemporary aphasiology. His aphasia classification, however, remains partially controversial.

Abstract:
Luria proposed that the brain is organized hierarchically and according to functional units. The functional units provide a basis of integrated experience and behavior that becomes fractionated in various psychological and behavioral disorders. Emerging research suggests that the fundamental organization of brain networks and functional connections are established in utero during the second and third trimesters of fetal development. This paper discusses the value of studying emerging fetal organization within the framework of Luria’s theory. In addition, it will expand Luria’s theory in emphasizing the integration of physiological and psychological mechanisms across the life.span, with the aim of developing more individualized assessment and intervention tools.

Abstract:
In this paper, we apply a recently demonstrated rapid electrokinetic patterning (REP) technique to Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 and confirm the application possibility of the technique on bio-materials. This technique utilizes a simple microfluidic chip with two indium tin oxide (ITO) coated parallel electrodes and requires the simultaneous application of AC electric field and the hologram provided from an infrared (1064 nm) laser, in order to control and aggregate particles onto electrodes. For the experimentation in this paper, Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 are cultured by green fluorescent protein (GFP) on Luria-Bertani (LB) agar plate and through sample pretreatment process, mid-log phase samples of the bacteria finally are obtained. As a result of applying REP technique to this bacteria sample, we could collect a lot of the bacteria onto ITO electrode surfaces rapidly and the bacteria cluster could be translated with the movement of laser focus position under uniform electric field. Also it was confirmed that there exists a particular frequency range, i.e. critical frequency for REP based bacteria cluster. We could find that under the application of REP technique, the ellipsoidal bacteria are reoriented with respect to electric field lines as electrical frequency increases up. Also the change in the vertical distance between the bacteria and the electrode surface with electrical voltages could be observed. These results show that the REP technique can be used to separate, sort and manipulate bioparticles like bacteria.

Abstract:
This paper discusses techniques of remediation used in a practical study case of an ADHD child. The major focus of this process is to enhance the development of underdeveloped functions and its main objective is to create, together with the patient, effective work methods, which would be meaningful to the child and would a part of his or her experiences in life. The paper considers the case of a 7.year.old boy suspected of having ADHD and provides his pre.and post.neuropsychological evaluation data. The 6.month intervention process brought some significant results as the evaluation showed the development of several superior mental functions and the initial hypothesis of ADHD was refuted. Thus, the remediation process which involved an adult that respected the level of the child’s development and included meaningful activities within an affective impact enhanced the child’s development.

Abstract:
Since the COVID.19 pandemic is a serious crisis in many countries around the world, it is important to conduct empirical research aimed at identifying risks and factors protecting the functioning of people affected by it [1, 2]. For this reason, the goal of this research is to determine the structure of the relationship between physical activity and psychosocial functioning of 226 women and 226 men during the COVID.19 epidemic in Poland by looking at connections between physical activity, mental health disorders and cognitive processes and their significance for the quality of social relations. Methodologically, the research relies on IPAQ Questionnaire [3], GHQ-28 Questionnaires [4], TUS Test — 6/9 version [5] and the original SFS Scale. The structural model indicates that physical activity weakens the relationship between mental health disorders and cognitive processes, and gender is the moderator of these relationships. This suggests that physical activity adapted to the condition of health may be an important component of gender. individualized psycho. preventive interventions.

Abstract:
The paper discusses the brain mechanisms of autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is shown that these disorders are associated with different genetic causes that create certain psychophysiological mechanisms. Nevertheless, their diagnosis is interrelated. Moreover, a child is often first diagnosed with ADHD, and then the diagnosis is changed to “autism spectrum disease”. Among the most common causes of the disease is the behavior of retrotransposons. Retrotransposons (also called transposons via intermediate RNA) are genetic elements that can amplify themselves in the genome. These DNA sequences use a “copy and paste” mechanism, whereby they are first transcribed into RNA and then converted back to identical DNA sequences via reverse transcription, and these sequences are then inserted into the genome at target sites. In humans, retro elements take up 42 % of the DNA. The conclusion is made that for the formation of an individual profile of gene expression in the neuron, the most important is the phenomenon of somatic mosaicism, due to the process of L1 retrotransposition, in addition to the classical described mechanisms of differentiation. The number of such events and their localization is significant as they are likely to contribute to the development of both autism and ADHD.

Abstract:
Cationic polypeptide proteins found in the seeds of the tropical plant Moringa oleifera have coagulation efficiencies similar to aluminum and ferric sulfates without their recalcitrant nature. Although these proteins possess great potential to augment or replace traditional coagulants in water treatment, harvesting active protein from seeds is laborious and not cost-effective. Here, we describe an alternative method to express and secrete active M. oleifera coagulant protein (MO) in Bacillus subtilis. A plasmid library containing the MO gene and 173 different types of secretory signal peptides was created and cloned into B. subtilis strain RIK1285. Fourteen of 440 clones screened were capable of secreting MO with yields ranging from 55 to 122 mg/L of growth medium. The coagulant activity of the highest MO secreting clone was evaluated when grown on Luria broth, and cell-free medium from the culture was shown to reduce turbidity in a buffered kaolin suspension by approximately 90% compared with controls without the MO gene. The clone was also capable of secreting active MO when grown on a defined synthetic wastewater supplemented with 0.5% tryptone. Cell-free medium from the strain harboring the MO gene demonstrated more than a 2-fold reduction in turbidity compared with controls. Additionally, no significant amount of MO was observed without the addition of the synthetic wastewater, suggesting that it served as a source of nutrients for the effective expression and translocation of MO into the medium.
