Abstract:
A new stomatopod-associated species of the alpheid shrimp genus Athanas Leach, 1814 is described based on several specimens collected in shallow waters of northern New Caledonia. Athanas philippei n. sp. differs from all of its congeners by a unique combination of morphological characteristics, as well as a diagnostic colour pattern. All specimens of A. philippei n. sp. were collected from burrows, including one with its host, a large tiger mantis shrimp, Lysiosquillina maculata (Fabricius, 1793) (Lysiosquillidae). Thus, the new species represents the fifth species of Athanas known or presumed

The scarce fossil record of stomatopod crustaceans is extended with three new species and two new genera described from the Miocene of California. Squilla laingae new species and Angelosquilla altamirensis new genus and species show clear affinities to the Recent family Squillidae. Topangasquilla gravesi new genus and species can be accommodated within the Recent family Lysiosquillidae. These new species occur in the Monterey and Topanga Formations in Los Angeles County. In addition, three other specimens are described from the Miocene Topanga Formation. The preservation of these stomatopods i

Abstract:
New records for the mantis shrimp Lysiosquilla manningi Boyko, 2000, are presented for western Mexico. They include the shallowest sampling depth on record (1.5 m) and the largest male specimen known to date (175 mm total length). The shallowest record of L. manningi came from a coastal lagoon in Mazatlán, Mexico, where Cloridopsis dubia (H. Milne Edwards, 1837) has been collected on several occasions in similar depths. This finding is intriguing considering that the type material of L. desaussurei (Stimpson, 1857) proved to be a specimen of C. dubia originally from the same locality.

Abstract:
A new record of zebra mantis shrimp Lysiosquilla maculata (Fabricius 1793) was confirmed for the first time from the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh. Morphological and molecular investigations were used to validate this new record. It possesses ten teeth on the dactylus of raptorial claw that can be differentiated easily from its congener species. A partial large subunit ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) gene sequence was generated and revealed 100% similarity with pre-existing sequences that validated the morphological identification of the species. Including present species, the number of mantis shrimp has
