Pedro de Ribadeneyra proposed in his Treatise on the Christian Prince (1595) four cases in which the Christian ruler can use the simulation without resorting to lies. This has been interpreted by traditional historiography as a trait of Machiavellianism, that is, a concession to the politic utilitas in spite of the alleged religious morality ofchristian politics. The article examines carefully Ribadeneyra's theory having in mind the notion of "Machiavellianism of the Anti-Machiavellianists”, as proposed in a seminal article by José Antonio Maravall. It is important to explore the specific factors of break-up distress for university students’ psychological intervention. Therefore, we investigated 869 university students to examine the effect of Machiavellianism and psychological capital on break-up distress, as well as its gender difference. The results indicated that high Machiavellians experience more break-up distress. Moreover, through structural equation models, we found that as for female university students, psychological capita

The affective style of individuals on the psychopathy continuum has been investigated since Cleckley’s (1941) extensive documentation. However, as researchers have since focused on individuals at the extreme end of the spectrum, nonclinical psychopathy remains an under-researched topic. For example, a lack of empathy is considered a defining feature of psychopathy, yet little research has examined the relationship between nonclinical psychopathy and empathy.
