Foram utilizados 15 úteros de macacos Rhesus (Macaca mulatta), sendo 5 fêmeas nulíparas, 5 primíparas e 5 pluríparas. Todas as fêmeas eram maduras sexualmente, tinham de 38 a 87 meses de idade e pesavam entre 4,9 a 7,39 Kg. Em todos os animais foram feitos o estudo topográfico, biometria dos órgãos, microscopia de luz e quantificação de colágeno no miométrio. O útero se situa na pelve, sobre a vagina, entre a bexiga urinária e o intestino reto. The focus of this research was to define further the extent of numerical ability in rhesus monkeys, and specifically to determine whether the animals possess a symbolic understanding of Arabic numerals. Numerous studies show that a low level of response to the intoxicating effects of alcohol is considered a risk factor for future alcoholism. However, assessing this sensitivity usually requires administering a controlled dose of alcohol, which has a number of inherent problems. Early observations in our lab suggest that the response to anesthetics that show cross tolerance with alcohol, like ketamine, are blunted in nonhuman primates at risk for high alcohol intake, and may be a viable measure of future alcohol consumption. The lion-tailed macaque (Macaca silenus) is endangered due to habitat destruction with less than 3500 individuals remaining in isolated fragments of South-West India. Lion-tailed macaques do not reproduce readily in captivity and captive breeding may be relied upon for future conservation. Poor welfare can have negative effects on reproduction so it is important that lion-tailed macaque welfare is examined in captive groups. MacTel type 2 is a slowly progressive neurodegenerative condition primarily affecting the tem- poral area of the central retina. Subtle generalised increases in foveal autofluorescence are early sign of the disease.
