Abstract This article proposes that a paradox of love is situated at the heart of the Surrealist project: love is characterised as both a problem and its solution, tied to a series of antinomies (absence/presence, subject/object, chance/necessity, singularity/variance, history/eternity) and the teleological horizon of their reconciliation. The sufferings attributed to love prompt a desire to overcome them that is characterised as an orientation toward salvation. With a specific focus on André Breton’s L’Amour fou (1937), love’s madness is read in relation to a posit of faith. Breton’s appropri

This thesis’ purpose is to demonstrate, via the examination of popular youth literature (primarily pulp magazines and comic books) from the 1920s through to the 1950s, that the stories found therein drew their definitions of heroism and villainy from an overarching, nativist fear of outsiders that had existed before the Great War, but intensified afterwards. These depictions were transferred to America’s “new” enemies following both the United States’ entry into the Second World War, as well as the early stages of the Cold War. The mas proto-oncogene encodes a seven transmembrane protein (MAS) which is suggested to function as a receptor for angiotensin. It (MAS) was initially identified in NIH-3T3 cells that were transformed with DNA isolated from a human epidermoid carcinoma. These cells formed foci in culture and tumors when injected into nude mice. On the other hand, untransformed cells did not. Further analysis of these cells showed that transformed cells bind increased levels of angiotensin when compared to untransformed cells. These studies also demonstrated that the Mas protein was structurally similar to the

Since its inception in the mid twentieth century, radar ornithology has provided scientists with new tools for studying the behavior of birds, especially with regards to migration. A number of studies have shown that birds can be detected using a wide variety of radar devices. Generally, these studies have focused on small portable radars that typically have a finer resolution than large weather surveillance radars. Recently, however, a number of researchers have presented qualitative evidence suggesting that birds, or at least migration events, can be identified using large broad scale radars

The distinctive features of high-frequency trading are low latency, high order to trade ratio, co-location, and short holding periods.
