Abstract:
Internet users in Indonesia always increase every year. The highest increase occurred in smartphone internet users. The increase was due to a shift in the provision of software from desktop and web to mobile based. Based on these conditions it is necessary to know the process of providing mobile applications to suit users. Provision of mobile applications cannot be separated from the process of software development, especially the development of mobile software. For this reason, in this study a discussion on mobile software development methods consisting of wireless development, mobile application development lifecycle models (MADLC) and mobile development (Mobile-D) was discussed. the three methods of developing mobile wireless development software have the longest working phase, which is eight phases, while the mobile application development lifecycle model (MADLC) has seven phases and mobile development (Mobile-D) has five phases. The choice of mobile software development methods is an important factor in the development process.

Abstract:
Abstract Malaysia’s biodiversity forests are producing numerous species of plants. Books, picture walls, posters, and brochures often use to display these plants’ static images to promote these wilderness treasures. Though the use of these static images fits its purpose, they are less attractive in providing information. ARPlant prototype provides an interactive application that enhances rainforest plants’ information displayed using the mobile platform. We use the Mobile Application Development Lifecycle (MADLC) to design and develop ARPlant. We gauge potential users’ requirements and needs by conducting a survey. We then conduct the user testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) score. The augmented reality in ARPlant allows users to learn by interactively exploring rainforest plants. Users can view the plants in a 3-dimensional environment.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Two membrane proteins encoded by the malonate fermentation gene cluster of Malonomonas rubra, MadL and MadM, have been synthesized in Escherichia coli. MadL and MadM were shown to function together as a malonate transport system, whereas each protein alone was unable to catalyze malonate transport. Malonate transport by MadLM is Na+ dependent, and imposition of a ΔpNa+ markedly enhanced the rate of malonate uptake. The kinetics of malonate uptake into E. coliBL21(DE3) cells synthesizing MadLM at different pH values indicated that Hmalonate− is the transported malonate species. The stimulation of malonate uptake by Na+ ions showed Michaelis-Menten kinetics, and a Km for Na+ of 1.2 mM was determined. These results suggest that MadLM is an electroneutral Na+/Hmalonate−symporter and that it is dependent on two separate genes.

Abstract:

In the context of MCSs, this is a pioneering work, for other works related to this thematic searched in literature are limited to conjecture the possibility of its implantation via cooperation between companies; moreover, they do not apply any type of diagnosis method or viability. The object of study is an association of supermarkets of the city of Natal/RN, composed by 16 stores, of what 14 had been searched. The main objective of this work was to apply the first stage of the MSDCE and to verify the possibility of implanting the Corporative Education in the searched MSCs. As a result, it was obtained the profile of the companies and the validation of the above-mentioned Method. The phase of diagnosis conceived through the implantation of the first stage occurred through visits to the stores, interviews, application of questionnaires and place observation. The first stage - strategical analysis for professional education - was divided in two phases: analysis of the current corporative situation and available identification of the involved difficulties and resources. The implantation of the first stage of the MSDCE in the Association of Supermarkets Parceiros da Economia demanded a mapping of abilities and demonstrated how the education management works, the main difficulties and limitations of the MCSs of the supermerket branch of Natal/RN. Abstract:
When Robert Southey published his second epic, Madoc, in 1805, he had already been working on the poem in various stages for a decade. His first complete draft of the poem was composed between February 1797 and July 1799, and this version differs substantially from that which Southey was to publish six years later. In this thesis I have published, for the first time, what I call MS.2A in full, complete with all its deletions and emendations, transcribed from the original in the Keswick Museum in Cumbria. In my Appendix I have also provided detailed explanatory notes to each of the fifteen books. These not only elucidate textual references but trace many of Southey's ideas, descriptions, etc. to the numerous sources that he had consulted for the composition of MS.2A, several of which he was never to acknowledge in the notes to the published poem. My introductory chapter examines the critical problem which commentators have encountered (and in many ways exacerbated) by paradoxically recognising Madoc's accretive compositional process while refusing to engage with any of the earlier manuscripts. The chapters which follow recontextualise Southey's long-held interest in the Madoc legend, from his latter years at Westminster School to the publication of the poem in 1805, within the wider Southeyan biographical framework. Particular attention has been paid to that period when he was composing MS.2A - a period which he himself was to recollect as being the happiest and most productive of his life, and during which he produced many of his most enduring shorter poems. My penultimate chapter examines some of the political and religious issues arising out of MS.2A, while arguing that a true critical understanding of these issues can only be achieved by our willingness to engage with, rather than - as has traditionally been the case hitherto - merely dismissing Southey's selection (and even rejection) of source material. My final chapter explores in depth ten of Southey's major sources for the writing of MS.2A, and provides the reader with information relating to their origin and make-up, details concerning the editions which Southey might have used, and a feeling for their author's wider aims and ideological tenor. A number of minor sources are also discussed, so that this chapter paves the way for a fuller understanding of Southey's borrowings.

Abstract:
The study aims to achieve an understanding of the artist’s materials and techniques used by Lucky Madlo Sibiya when he created his carved and painted wood panel artworks. A survey of the artist’s materials and techniques is of great importance, because he is represented in multiple institutional, corporate and private collections – including the University of Pretoria. His carved and painted wood panel artworks are also reaching an age (at least 20 years old, as 2019 is the twentieth anniversary of his death) when they would soon require conservation and restoration, if not stored and displayed according to sound conservation conditions and standards. For best-practice conservation and restoration, in-depth knowledge of the materiality of an artwork is needed. In order to reach an in-depth knowledge of the materiality of Sibiya’s carved and painted wood panel artworks, the survey intends to examine and document through the combination of various historical, visual and analytical techniques artworks with unrefuted provenance. The analytical techniques used are popular in heritage conservation, because they are non-invasive and non-destructive. They include provenance studies, visual examination, technical photography, X-ray Fluorescence and Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy. In combination, the techniques should reveal the materials and techniques Sibiya employed. This knowledge will be used to safeguard and preserve this part of South African art heritage.
Mini Dissertation (MSocSci)--University of Pretoria, 2020.
Tangible Heritage Conservation
MSocSci (Tangible Heritage Conservation)
Unrestricted

Abstract:
Beginning with a tribute to the late Chris 'Zithulele' Mann, a poet and activist who was deeply immersed in Dante, this chapter comments on some of the patterns that emerge from the creative contributions of the Dantessa students. Two authors affirm and explore ideas of black womanhood by appealing to Beatrice and Francesca, potentially combining the two figures. Several authors are acutely aware of the purgatorial condition of post-apartheid South Africa, suggesting a long and arduous march to freedom. The image of flight recurs: thrice, madly, into the inferno and once, temporarily, in limbo. These lively responses to La Commedia prompt the question: what kind of literary studies is proper to purgatory, and elicit a tentative reply, urging a re-invention of the discipline of letters.

Abstract:
Abstract The existing micro-motion stage based on flexure hinge can hardly meet the requirements of a high-precision stage with large stroke and variable operating conditions (especially variable frequency operation). In this paper, a flexible hinge micro-motion stage with adjustable stiffness is presented. A wide range of stiffness and frequency adjustments are realized by changing the length of the flexure hinge through the movement of the support. However, the change on the stiffness of the flexure hinge is non-linear when is in large deformation. It is difficult to use the traditional PID algorithm to control such nonlinear system without the complete mathematical model, and much more complicated control strategies are required to deal with the condition of large deformation of the flexure hinge. In this paper, the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) strategy is adopted to solve the above non-linear control problem without relying on the complete system model. A novel model-compensated ADRC based on the dynamic characteristics is proposed to further improve the performance of the micro-motion stage. Experiments show that the ADRC with model compensation (MADRC) can achieve high positioning and tracking precision faster than the conventional ADRC. The presented micro-motion stage based on stiffness-adjustable flexure hinges and MADRC design is capable to meet the industrial application requirements of large stroke or variable working conditions.

Abstract:
The paper here proposed introduces the Design-driven Material Innovation Methodology as a systematic approach in new material-product development processes as a possible strategic tool for design schools, practitioners and SMEs. Scientists and engineers are problem solver, but to engender innovations of success requires not only technological exploitations but also a broader understanding of materials meaningful application for consumers. For the design language, material performances are based in technological performance and also on experience, perception and cultural values. Nowadays the design knowledge and skills are approaching us to a new materials research scenario where creative communities, scientists and material industries are becoming deeply engaged in the creative challenge to achieve material functionality and meanings. Considering these and others factors, the Design Department of Politecnico di Milano promoted in October 2014 the Material Design Culture Research Center (MADEC) funded by FARB (University Funds for Basic Research). Within the MADEC research program, one critical point has been the identification of a specific methodology able to integrate tailor-made materials during the design process, in order to create new scenarios of concepts material and product. So, the Design-driven Material Innovation Methodology arose to enhance new products innovation starting from a specific material and suggesting a method able to manage the entire design process. After a brief forward of the method theoretical premises, the paper will analyzes the seven steps (Data collection about materials, Sensing, Sensemaking, Envisioning, Specifying, Setting up, Placing) suggested by the method associated with a selection of case studies to help its comprehension.Actually the DdMIM is part of the Design for Enterprises, the winner project of the Tender Capabilities for Design-Driven Innovation in European SMEs funded by EASME (Executive Agency for SMEs-European Commission). D4E is a consortium estabilished between MIP- Politecnico di Milano, D’Appolonia and ADIPER and will be a three years long European training program in order to help SMEs to manage a design process for product and services innovation where different actors like materials scientists, suppliers, creative communities and consumers are getting engaged.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/IFDP.2016.3243
