Abstract:
Internet users in Indonesia always increase every year. The highest increase occurred in smartphone internet users. The increase was due to a shift in the provision of software from desktop and web to mobile based. Based on these conditions it is necessary to know the process of providing mobile applications to suit users. Provision of mobile applications cannot be separated from the process of software development, especially the development of mobile software. For this reason, in this study a discussion on mobile software development methods consisting of wireless development, mobile application development lifecycle models (MADLC) and mobile development (Mobile-D) was discussed. the three methods of developing mobile wireless development software have the longest working phase, which is eight phases, while the mobile application development lifecycle model (MADLC) has seven phases and mobile development (Mobile-D) has five phases. The choice of mobile software development methods is an important factor in the development process.

Abstract Malaysia’s biodiversity forests are producing numerous species of plants. Books, picture walls, posters, and brochures often use to display these plants’ static images to promote these wilderness treasures. Though the use of these static images fits its purpose, they are less attractive in providing information. ARPlant prototype provides an interactive application that enhances rainforest plants’ information displayed using the mobile platform. We use the Mobile Application Development Lifecycle (MADLC) to design and develop ARPlant. We gauge potential users’ requirements and needs by conducting a survey. We then conduct the user testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) score. The augmented reality in ARPlant allows users to learn by interactively exploring rainforest plants. Users can view the plants in a 3-dimensional environment.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Two membrane proteins encoded by the malonate fermentation gene cluster of Malonomonas rubra, MadL and MadM, have been synthesized in Escherichia coli. MadL and MadM were shown to function together as a malonate transport system, whereas each protein alone was unable to catalyze malonate transport. Malonate transport by MadLM is Na+ dependent, and imposition of a ΔpNa+ markedly enhanced the rate of malonate uptake. The kinetics of malonate uptake into E. coliBL21(DE3) cells synthesizing MadLM at different pH values indicated that Hmalonate− is the transported malonate species. The stimulation of malonate uptake by Na+ ions showed Michaelis-Menten kinetics, and a Km for Na+ of 1.2 mM was determined. These results suggest that MadLM is an electroneutral Na+/Hmalonate−symporter and that it is dependent on two separate genes.

Abstract:
In multi-animal tracking, addressing occlusion and crowding is crucial for accurate behavioral analysis. However, in situations where occlusion and crowding generate complex interactions, achieving accurate pose tracking remains challenging. Therefore, we introduced virtual marker tracking (vmTracking), which uses virtual markers for individual identification. Virtual markers are labels derived from conventional markerless multi-animal tracking tools, such as multi-animal DeepLabCut (maDLC) and Social LEAP Estimate Animal Poses (SLEAP). Unlike physical markers, virtual markers exist only within the video and attribute features to individuals, enabling consistent identification throughout the entire video while keeping the animals markerless in reality. Using these markers as cues, annotations were applied to multi-animal videos, and tracking was conducted with single-animal DeepLabCut (saDLC) and SLEAP’s single-animal method. vmTracking minimized manual corrections and annotation frames needed for training, efficiently tackling occlusion and crowding. Experiments tracking multiple mice, fish, and human dancers confirmed vmTracking’s variability and applicability. These findings could enhance the precision and reliability of tracking methods used in the analysis of complex naturalistic and social behaviors in animals, providing a simpler yet more effective solution.

The results indicated a high level of usability, with a SUS score of 88.3 from 30 UiTM Tapah students while 76.25 from UiTM Tapah lecturers. This system was usable to classify the risk of infection among students who had not yet been diagnosed, while having some room for improvements. The system's ability to identify infected individuals promptly and accurately aided in controlling the spread of the virus, thereby protecting both students and staff. Thus, the classification system by using ANN was a valuable tool for public health organizations in their efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:
In Islam, visiting graves reflects and reminds us of death and life in the Barzakh. The cemeteries must be adequately cared for and maintained since they play a significant role in the community as an important location for remembering and lamenting. However, remembering or finding the specific grave can sometimes be challenging. Thus, this project aims to develop a mobile application in which users can track their loved one’s grave to help them locate, save, and share the grave’s location by utilising the GPS sensors on the mobile phone. It is easier for them to track their loved ones and build a community for the Muslim cemetery community. The objectives of this project are to identify user requirements and to design and develop Pusara Finder – Muslim Grave Finder Mobile Application. This project uses the Android platform, and the mobile application has been developed using Visual Studio or Android Studio. There is a novelty of this project in which Pusara Finder is anl app designed to simplify the process of locating and navigating to Muslim graves in Shah Alam. This apps offers a seamless and intuitive experience, making it easier to pay tribute to the loved ones. The user also can access the complete database of Muslim graves with ease. The target user of this project was Muslim Public Users or people who want to find their specific grave. The methodology used for this project will be the Mobile Application Development Life Cycle (MADLC) Model. This project, however, has been developed up until the testing phase only. The project has been developed, and it’s in a prototype. In order to develop the mobile application, Flutter and Firebase has been implemented in this project. There were 11 users who had been involved in testing the usability of the mobile application by using System Usability Scale method with the score of 76.59 which in adjective rating is good.

Abstract:
This project is regarding the development of a mobile application for rental equipment for UiTM Shah Alam Malay and Bumiputera students. The reason for the development of this project is to help the Malay and Bumiputera students to rent items and equipment they needed. Based on the previous study, most students in UiTM Shah Alam are those who have financial problems and came from a low-income family or household, known as B40. Therefore, this mobile application for rental equipment would be able to solve problems such as the inability in buying new items and belongings (or equipment). In some cases, students are required to have specific items to attend a one-time event without overspending and are unable to explore new hobbies due to financial limitations. As such, this project aims to develop an Android-based mobile application called Rent2U that can help UiTM Shah Alam students, especially those who come from a B40 family to rent items, and equipment they needed. The objectives of this project are to identify the requirements, to design and develop the equipment rental mobile applications for UiTM Shah Alam students. The chosen methodology for the development of this mobile application is Mobile Application Development Lifecycle (MADLC) and covered up until the testing phase only. The outcome of this project is the mobile application for rental equipment, which has features like geolocation to find nearby items and equipment for rentals, a search function to find items and equipment and push notifications to alert the users about the listings that have been created by them for rental. Hence, the significance of this project is that it can help the students in need to rent and lend items and equipment by providing them a platform to lend their belongings, and at the same time be able to rent items and equipment they like or need. For future enhancements, this application may include a variety of options for the users to pay such as online banking, and credit card, among others. In addition, this application may also include goods and equipment verification to avoid renting any dangerous items.

Full text
Abstract:
High-purity distillation columns typically give rise to multi-variable, strongly coupled nonlinear systems with substantial time delay and significant inertia. The control performance of high-purity distillation columns crucially influences the purity of the final product. Taking into account the process of a high-purity distillation column, this article puts forward a dual-loop modified active disturbance rejection control (MADRC) scheme to improve the control of product purity. During the stable operation of the distillation process, the structures of two control loops are, respectively, approximated by two linear transfer function models via open-loop experiments. Subsequently, the compensation part of the MADRC scheme is designed, respectively, for each approximate model. Furthermore, this paper employs singular perturbation theory to prove the stability of MADRC. The performance of the dual-loop MADRC scheme (MADRC) is compared with that of a proportional–integral–derivative (PID) control scheme, a cascade PID control scheme (CPID), and a regular ADRC scheme (ADRC). The simulations demonstrate that the dual-loop MADRC scheme is capable of efficiently tracking the reference value and exhibits optimal disturbance rejection capabilities. Additionally, the superiority of the dual-loop MADRC scheme is validated through Monte Carlo trials.

Abstract:
The drum water level plays a crucial role in the safety and economy of heat recovery boilers. However, the control of the drum water level faces many challenges, such as external disturbances and system uncertainties. To enhance the control performance of the drum water level, a modified active disturbance rejection control (MADRC) optimized with sensitivity constraint is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the control structure of the three-element control system for the drum water level is introduced and analyzed. Based on the regular active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) structure, the structure of the MADRC is introduced and the convergence of the proposed MADRC is proven. Then a modified whale optimization algorithm (MWOA) with sensitivity constraint is applied to optimize the parameters of the MADRC. With different sensitivity constraints, the parameters of the MADRC and comparative controllers are obtained, and their control performance for tracking and disturbance rejection abilities is compared. Moreover, the ability to handle system uncertainties is analyzed. Simulation results and performance indexes show that the proposed MADRC can obtain the best tracking and disturbance rejection abilities with satisfactory robustness. The satisfactory control performance shows that the proposed MADRC has wide application potential for heat recovery boilers and other industrial processes.

Journal of Immunology 186, no. 1_Supplement (2011): 154.32. http://dx.doi.org/10.4049/jimmunol.186.supp.154.32.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) productively infects CD34+ progenitor-derived, mature Langerhans-type dendritic cells (matLC) and reduces surface expression of MHC class II complexes (MHC II) by increasing intracellular retention of these molecules. To determine whether HCMV inhibits MHC II expression by other mechanisms, we assessed mRNA levels of the class II transcriptional regulator, CIITA, and several of its target genes in infected matLC. CIITA mRNA levels were significantly lower in HCMV-infected matLC than in mock-infected cells. Analysis of promoter-specific CIITA isoforms revealed that types I, III and IV were decreased by HCMV, a result not seen after incubation of matLC with LPS. Exposure to UV-inactivated virus failed to reduce CIITA mRNA levels, implicating de novo viral gene expression in this effect. The stability of CIITA mRNA was not diminished by HCMV, arguing that diminished transcription is the mechanism for CIITA mRNA reduction. HCMV-infected matLC expressed lower levels of DR transcripts and reduced DR protein synthesis rates compared to mock-infected matLC. Thus, we demonstrate that HCMV infection of a human dendritic cell subset inhibits constitutive CIITA expression, resulting in reduced MHC II biosynthesis as a candidate immunoevasive mechanism.

Abstract:
Median arcuate ligament compression (MALC) potentially causes arterial complications in orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Here we aimed to investigate the incidence of MALC and its impact on clinical outcome after OLT. In addition, we performed an international survey among 52 European liver transplant centers to explore local protocols on the management of these patients. Data of 286 consecutive OLT recipients from a prospective database were analyzed retrospectively (05/2010-07/2017). Preoperative computed-tomography images were evaluated. Celiac axis stenosis due to MALC was found in 34 patients (12%). Intrinsic stenosis was present in 16 (6%) patients. Twenty-six patients (77%) with MALC underwent standard arterial revascularization with median arcuate ligament (MAL)-division. Patients treated for MALC had comparable baseline data and no difference was found in early- and long-term outcome compared to the rest of our cohort. Our survey found heterogeneous strategies regarding diagnosis and treatment of MALC. Only 29% of the centers reported the division of MAL in these patients as routine procedure. Even though there is no consensus on diagnosis and management of MALC among European centers, a surgical division of MAL is feasible and safe and should be considered in OLT recipients with MALC.

Abstract:
During inflammation, murine and human monocytes can develop into dendritic cells (DC), but this process is not entirely understood. Here, we demonstrate that extracellular vesicles (EV) secreted by mature human DC (maDC) differentiate peripheral monocytes into immature DC, expressing a unique marker pattern, including 6-sulfo LacNAc (slan), Zbtb46, CD64, and CD14. While EV from both maDC and immature DC differentiated monocytes similar to GM-CSF/IL-4 stimulation, only maDC-EV produced precursors, which upon maturation stimulus developed into T-cell–activating and IL-12p70–secreting maDC. Mechanistically, maDC-EV induced cell signaling through GM-CSF, which was abundant in EV as were IL-4 and other cytokines and chemokines. When injected into the mouse skin, murine maDC-EV attracted immune cells including monocytes that developed activation markers typical for inflammatory cells. Skin-injected EV also reached lymph nodes, causing a similar immune cell infiltration. We conclude that DC-derived EV likely serve to perpetuate an immune reaction and may contribute to chronic inflammation.

Abstract:
Control of diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) outlet temperature is critical for downstream diesel particulate filter regeneration, but is challenging to control due to the non-minimum phase behavior and varying time delay. To effectively address this issue, a novel and time-efficient composite controller based on modified active disturbance rejection control (mADRC) is proposed for DOC-out temperature control in this paper. The proposed mADRC-based composite controller is a new combination of a model-based feedforward controller and a mADRC with time delay compensation through the mass flow rate of exhaust gas. The model-based feedforward controller is designed to partially compensate the variations of DOC inlet temperature and mass flow rate, while the mADRC is proposed to address the remain disturbances and model uncertainties including time delay uncertainties. Simulation and test results through a high-fidelity Gamma Technologies-Power model demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed composite controller in the DOC-out temperature control under steady state and a highly transient new European dynamic cycle (NEDC).

This study designed and examined the effects of Metacognitive and Argument-Driven Learning Environment (MADLE) in cultivating students’ reflective thinking skills. The study involved a group of third-year Biological Science Education students (n=23) in a state university in the Philippines. The study employed a mixed-method approach, where both quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed to answer the research question. Specifically, one-group pretest-posttest design was used under the paradigm of pedagogical action research. The quantitative data were obtained from a 16-item pre- and post-Reflective Thinking Questionnaire while qualitative data were culled from classroom observations and focus group discussions. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was utilized to determine significant changes in students’ reflective thinking skills. Findings showed an insignificant difference in students’ reflective thinking skills prior to and after their four-week exposure to MADLE. However, the multiple sources of data yielded from students’ higher posttest mean scores in each level of reflective thinking skills, classroom observations, and responses in the focus group discussion imply the efficacy of MADLE in stimulating and supporting students’ reflective thinking skills. Hence, it is recommended to integrate MADLE in improving instructional practices that will engage students in reflective thinking practices.

Abstract This essay examines how Indigenous research methodologies can be usefully applied to medieval texts. It does this by recounting and engaging with personal experience and by interrogating how research is deployed for colonial purpose. The use of medieval English texts by early modern and later colonial proponents and apologists, particularly John Dee, emphasize the inherent colonial purpose of traditional research methodologies. These processes are contrasted with Indigenous research methodologies, particularly those proposed by Linda Tuhiwai Smith, and the author’s own personal experience and that of his tribal nation of how Indigenous memory and inquiry can inform research practices that are relational and not exploitive.
