Le sujet du Doctorat porte sur l'utilisation des voies de synthèse par mésostructuration pour la préparation de supports de catalyseurs poreux. Trois systèmes ont été abordés pendant la durée du Doctorat, mais l'objectif restait le même dans les trois cas puisqu'il s'agissait de contrôler la morphologie du support afin de permettre par la suite l'optimisation du catalyseur final. La première partie du travail a été consacrée à l'étude de la synthèse d'oxydes mixtes en milieu confiné (i. E. Dans la porosité d’un support hôte). Des composés de type pérovskite (ABO3, avec A le lanthane et B un métal de transition) ont été préparés et dispersés sur différents supports siliciques de textures différentes. L'approche adoptée pour la synthèse, une méthode originale d'autocombustion développée dans le cadre du Doctorat, a permis d'obtenir des nanoparticules d'oxyde mixte de taille restreinte (< 4 nm), dispersées de manière homogène dans la porosité du support hôte. De telles tailles sont rarement rapportées pour des oxydes mixtes de ce type. Des tailles de domaine cristallin de l'ordre de 15-30 nm pour ce type d'oxyde mixte sont généralement observées. Bien que l'étude de l'activité de ces solides n'ait pas été abordée dans le cadre de ce travail, la mobilité de l'oxygène dans ces matériaux est largement supérieure à celle mesurée pour des pérovskites massiques ce qui montre clairement que ces nanocristaux se comportent différemment des cristaux massiques. Dans une deuxième partie, la synthèse, les propriétés texturales et structurales, ainsi que l'activité de nanocomposites SiO2 – TiO2 sont présentés. Par dépôt contrôlé d'un précurseur organique de titane, il est possible d'obtenir des nanocristaux d'anatase accessibles dans la porosité d'un support mésoporeux. Le mode de synthèse utilisé permet de déposer des quantités élevées d'oxyde de titane (jusqu’à 55 %pds), sans obstruer la porosité du support ni altérer les propriétés physiques du composite final qui présente toujours une surface spécifique élevée. Le maintien de propriétés attractives peut être attribué à la taille limitée des particules de titane générées, qui est généralement de l'ordre de 4 nm ou moins. Comme dans le cas de pérovskites, ces nanoparticules présentent une mobilité d'oxygène élevée, et des tests de réactivité ont montré que le contrôle de la taille de particule permettait une modulation de l'interaction métal – support (effet SMSI) lorsqu'un métal noble était déposé à sa surface. La dernière partie du Doctorat portait sur la synthèse d'alumine, une autre phase importante pour la catalyse hétérogène. Différentes voies de synthèses par mésostructuration ont été abordées, ce qui a permis de mettre en évidence l'intérêt de ces procédures pour l'obtention de solides présentant des surfaces spécifiques élevées et des tailles de pores élevées. Des résultats préliminaires ont aussi montré la flexibilité de ces voies de synthèse pour la fonctionnalisation de la surface de l'alumine (par incorporation d'un métal de transition ou d’un métal noble lors de la synthèse)<br>First of all the study of the synthesis of mixed oxides of ABO, perovskite in the pores of a silica host is studied. A novel method of autoignition developed within the PhD has yielded mixed oxide nanoparticles of small size (<4 nm) homogeneously dispersed in the pores of the support while sizes of the order of 15-30 nm for this type of mixed oxide are generally observed. The mobility of oxygen in these materials is much higher than that measured for bulk perovskites. In second part, the synthesis, structural and textural properties, and the activity of SiO2-TiO2 nanocomposites are presented. Anatase nanocrystals of 4 nm or less, accessible in the pores of a mesoporous support are obtained. High amounts of titania were deposited without clogging the pores of the support or alter the physical properties of the final composite. These nanoparticles exhibit high oxygen mobility. Reactivity tests showed that control of particle size allowed to adjust the metal – support interaction (effect SMSI) where the noble metal was deposited on its surface. The last part of the PhD was on the synthesis of alumina by different routes of mesostructuration. The interest of these procedures of obtaining solids with high surface area and large pores has been shown. Preliminary results also showed the flexibility of these synthetic routes for the functionalization of the surface of alumina by incorporation of a noble metal of transition metal during synthesis

Si l’assurance de groupe représente aujourd’hui un poids économique considérable, les interventions tardives du législateur n’ont pas fait disparaître les traces d’une application née de la pratique. Cette particularité a permis son essor, en laissant une place prépondérante à l’imagination des praticiens. Elle constitue désormais à nos yeux une source majeure d’insécurité juridique pour les protagonistes de l’opération d’assurance de groupe. On retrouve certes le mécanisme de la stipulation pour autrui dans tous les contrats d’assurance de groupe, mais l’objet de la stipulation n’est pas identique. La détermination de l’objet de la stipulation revêt une importance particulière, puisqu’elle permet d’identifier au sein de l’opération d’assurance quel rapport contractuel peut être qualifié de contrat d’assurance. Dans un contrat à adhésion facultative chaque adhérent est lié à l’assureur par un contrat individuel d’assurance. Au contraire, dans un contrat à adhésion obligatoire seul le contrat d’assurance de groupe est un contrat d’assurance. Elle assoit ainsi la différence fondamentale entre les contrats à adhésion facultative et ceux à adhésion obligatoire. Les dispositions propres aux contrats d’assurance de groupe étant trop lacunaires pour en constituer un véritable régime juridique, seuls les fondements juridiques sur lesquels reposent ces contrats vont permettre d’en dessiner les contours. Or, l’impossibilité manifeste de trouver un fondement juridique commun à l’ensemble des contrats d’assurance de groupe, impose la reconnaissance de deux régimes juridiques distincts, l’un concernant les contrats à adhésion facultative, l’autre ceux à adhésion obligatoire<br>If the group insurance has today an important economic weight, the legislator’s interventions have been late and the practice’s marks did not disappear. Because of this, the field men had an important role in its development. It is now, for us, a major source of legal insecurity in the use of group insurance. We can find the “stipulation for the benefit of a third party” mechanism in every group insurance agreements. However the stipulation object is not the same. The stipulation object determination is particularly important. It allows to identify, within the group insurance mechanism, which privity of contract is an insurance contract. In an optional agreement contract, each subscriber is linked to his insurance company through a single insurance contract. On the contrary, in a mandatory agreement contract, only the group insurance agreement is an insurance contract. This bases the difference between a mandatory agreement contract and an optional agreement contract. The provisions calculated to the group insurances are too incomplete to build a true system of law. Only the juridical grounds of these contracts allow to define their system of law. The obvious impossibility to find a common juridical ground for the whole group insurances, forces to recognize two separate systems of law. One deals with optional agreement contract, the other with mandatory agreement contract

The vehicle owners and/or their operators are inscribers of these automobile slogans. I analyse them in three forms: standard, parodied and innovated sayings adopting the paremiological approaches by Mieder & Litovkina (1999), Mieder (2007), Litovkina (2011). Do these forms of car inscriptions fulfill the prediction by Kezilahabi (1988, 1995) on the imminent transformation of the Swahili sayings to become a platform for negotiation of people`s tumultuous life challenges and desires?

biotechnological perspective owing to their metabolic attributes as producers of
secondary metabolites and resilience under harsh environmental conditions respectively.
Lake Magadi is a soda lake well studied in terms of its geology and limnology. Research
attention has also been drawn to the microbial populations which thrive in this unique
habitat but currently there are no reports on the assessment of its microflora using
molecular methods.
This study aimed to assess the actinobacterial and archaeal communities within Lake
Magadi, Kenya a hypersaline –highly alkaline habitat using metagenomic methods as a
preliminary study to identify potential candidates for exploitative biology
Samples from two sites dubbed Lake Magadi station 2 (LM2) and Lake Magadi salt pan
4 (LMS4) within the Lake Magadi were analyzed using the 16S rRNA gene as a
phylogenetic marker.
Cluster analysis of taxon-specific 16S rDNA PCR-DGGE profiles revealed moderately
heterogeneous actinobacterial and archaeal populations across the sample sites under
investigation which is probably a reflection of the differences in abiotic conditions at the
study sites. This observation was also confirmed from the multi-dimensional scaling
(MDS) plot.
PCR-based clonal libraries of actinobacterial and archaeal communities of both study
sites retrieved a total of thirty-two clones (twenty actinobacterial and twelve archaeal)
were sequenced. Analysis of the sequences revealed cultured and uncultured signatures of
microorganisms typical of hypersaline and or highly alkaline niches. A few (3) sequences
presented novelty (<96%) in identities with any previously identified organism. It was
concluded that the species dominance at site LMS4 [situated within the salt flats of Lake Magadi and site for exploration of trona and its mineralized extensions (nacholite and
gayllusite)] is likely to be dictated by anthropogenic stress since most of the microbial
signals associated with the study site are typical of saline and or alkaline environmental
samples exposed to especially mining but also agricultural and waste management
practices.
Isolation studies also revealed previously identified strains peculiar to hypersaline brines
and sediments. The strains retrieved were affiliated to the taxonomically diverse genus
Bacillus and Halomonas sp. The true applications and potential opportunities these
isolates have for biotechnology have been well documented.
Observations made from the culture dependent and culture independent methods suggests
strongly that study site LMS4 is subjected to environmental conditions more severe than
at site LM2.
This study is a guide for future studies as it provides primary information on the
haloalkaliphilic representatives of the actinobacteria phylum and domain Archaea within
the soda lake environment. It can serve as a pedestal for investigation into the molecular
machinery that supports the haloalkaliphilic lifestyles of inhabiting microorganisms and
consequently give leads as to how they can be commercially exploited.

I dagsläget finns det ett antal tekniska lösningar på hur man kan lagra ett störreantal patroner i ett magasin. Ser man till patroner av typen .22 Long Rifle, somär världen mest sålda typ av patron, finns det inga perfekta lösningar. De ärgenerellt osmidiga och tar upp stor volym. Ett av problemen är patronens form,där en bakre kant försvårar lagring av en större mängd patroner.I detta projekt har en ny modell av ett magasin tagit form. Genom en idé baseradpå ett tidigare patent, formades ett magasin med en kapacitet att lagra över 50patroner inom en begränsad volym. Idén är en vridningsmekanisk som vriderpatronerna varannan gång åt motsatt håll, vilket gör att de kan lagras effektivtutan att patronens bakkant påverkar något. Lagringen sker i en ränna formadsom en spiral vilket sparar mycket volym. Allt innesluts i ett starkt hölje som bärupp parterna och som sluts med bultar och muttrar.Målet för denna produktutveckling har varit att ta fram 3D-modeller i ett CADprogramgenom ett grundkoncept, detta för att sedan ha möjligheten attanalysera och modifiera dem. Resultatet av detta har blivit en 3D-modell somskickats till en tillverkare som tagit fram en första prototyp. Förhoppningen är atten bra grund har lagts för vidare analys och utvärdering som leder utvecklingframåt mot en storsäljare inom sportskytte.

I den här rapporten går vi igenom processen som vi har använt oss av för att ta fram en konceptmodell för ett nytt magasin åt InLead då de planerar att expandera sitt sortiment för att nå en bredare kundkrets. För tillfället har InLead ett magasin för kutsar och det magasinet vi har fått i projekt att ta fram är ett stångmagasin. I samarbete med vår handledare på InLead har vi gått igenom vad de vill ha i form av funktioner och utseénde. Under projektet använde vi det arbetssätt som är baserat på Freddy Olssons metod, princip och primärkonstruktion (1995), som vi använt oss av i tidigare kurser. Under projektets gång så var vi även på besök i InLeads lokal där vi fick se deras nuvarande magasin samt roboten som de kommer använda sig av för att få en bättre inblick i vad projektet ska bli i sitt slutliga stadie. Vi har lagt ner mycket tid på att få fram de resultat som gav den enklaste lösningen för montering och programmering av roboten. Vi kommer att sätta upp ett poängsystem som baseras på våra krav och önskemmål, där väger vi våra produktförslag och väljer det som passar bäst, vi kommer även göra en POME-Matris. Produkten är uppritad i catia v5 där vi baserade våra idéer på .STEP filer försedda av företaget. Vi använde oss primärt av Part Design och Assembly design då de arbetsbänkarna som används passade vårt projekt bäst. Vi har även använt oss av Catia Photo Studio, Keyshot för att ta fram renderade bilder och animationer av det slutliga resultatet.

Une cinquième partie a été consacrée pour l'étude des figures de style dans les textes considères. La conclusion a traite trois points: l'influence religieuse sur la poésie. This thesis has been carried out within the bachelor program for mechanical engineering at Karlstad University in collaboration with BAE Systems in Karlskoga. The purpose with this work was to design a mechanism and associated parts for loading and unloading of shots between primary and secondary magazine in BAE's new 40mm's ship gun. Parts designed or redesigned among other things a transfer mechanism for shot at loading and unloading, well as a hatch mechanism which makes the shots do not fall out of the primary magazine when making separate use. Various important details have been designed to maintain a good functionality of the mechanism. The construction work has mainly been carried out in the CAD software Solid Edge and its associated FEM module. The construction work has also been carried out on rough calculations for constructed details in order to ensure that they meet the stringent requirements of military use in tough marine environment. Two of the most critical parts of the structure where analyzed with the FEM module for estimating the stresses in the material at the applied load. The final design, which is a result of the thesis, meets the requirement specification and the set targets. Given the very limited space at the dock between primary and secondary magazine, the final outcome is considered to be a robust and durable construction. Manufacture of a prototype for testing and evaluation of the design is the next step for the final adjustment and an eventual production.<br>Det här examensarbetet har utförts inom högskoleingenjörsprogrammet för maskinteknik på Karlstad universitet i samarbete med BAE Systems i Karlskoga. Syftet med arbetet var att konstruera en mekanism och tillhörande delar för laddning och plundring av skott mellan primär- och sekundärmagasin i BAE´s nya 40 mm’s sjöpjäs. Delar som har konstruerats eller omkonstruerats är bland annat en överföringsmekanism för skott vid laddning och plundring, samt en luckmekanism som medför att skott inte faller ur primärmagasinet vid separat användning. Diverse viktiga detaljer har konstruerats för att upprätthålla en god funktionalitet på mekanismen. Konstruktionsarbetet har framförallt utförts i CAD-programmet Solid Edge och dess tillhörande FEM-modul. Vid konstruktionsarbetet har även överslagsberäkningar utförts på konstruerade detaljer för att kunna säkerställa att dem klarar de hårda krav som ställs på försvarsmateriell i tuff sjömiljö. Två av de mest kritiska delarna i konstruktionen analyserades i FEM-modulen för att uppskatta påfrestningar i materialet vid pålagd belastning. Den färdiga konstruktionen som är ett resultat av examensarbetet uppfyller kravspecifikationen och även de satta målen. Med tanke på det mycket begränsade utrymmet vid dockning mellan primär- och sekundärmagasin, får det slutgiltiga resultatet anses vara en robust och hållbar konstruktion. Tillverkning av en prototyp för provning och utvärdering av konstruktionen är nästa steg inför slutanpassning och eventuell produktion.

MagAO is the adaptive optics instrument at the Magellan Clay telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, Chile. MagAO has a 585-actuator adaptive secondary mirror and 1000-Hz pyramid wavefront sensor, operating on natural guide stars from R-magnitudes of -1 to 15. MagAO has been in on-sky operation for 166 nights since installation in 2012. MagAO's unique capabilities are simultaneous imaging in the visible and infrared with VisAO and Clio, excellent performance at an excellent site, and a lean operations model. Science results from MagAO include the first ground-based CCD image of an exoplanet, demonstration of the first accreting protoplanets, discovery of a new wide-orbit exoplanet, and the first empirical bolometric luminosity of an exoplanet. We describe the status, report the AO performance, and summarize the science results. New developments reported here include color corrections on red guide stars for the wavefront sensor; a new field stop stage to facilitate VisAO imaging of extended sources; and eyepiece observing at the visible-light diffraction limit of a 6.5-m telescope. We also discuss a recent hose failure that led to a glycol coolant leak, and the recovery of the adaptive secondary mirror (ASM) after this recent (Feb. 2016) incident.

The next generation of extremely large telescopes (ELTs) have the potential to image habitable rocky planets, if suitably optimized. This will require the development of fast high order "extreme" adaptive optics systems for the ELTs. Located near the excellent site of the future GMT, the Magellan AO system (MagAO) is an ideal on-sky testbed for high contrast imaging development. Here we discuss planned upgrades to MagAO. These include improvements in WFS sampling (enabling correction of more modes) and an increase in speed to 2000 Hz, as well as an H2RG detector upgrade for the Clio infrared camera. This NSF funded project, MagAO-2K, is planned to be on-sky in November 2016 and will significantly improve the performance of MagAO at short wavelengths. Finally, we describe MagAO-X, a visible-wavelength extreme-AO "afterburner" system under development. MagAO-X will deliver Strehl ratios of over 80% in the optical and is optimized for visible light coronagraphy.

Tidningskompaniet, a publishing agency in Göteborg, has during the spring of 2003 developed a customermagazine for Göteborgsvarvet, a Half Marathon Race in Göteborg. If realized the magazine shallbe distributed to former participants of the race twice a year and will be financed by adverts.As part of the editorial concept, development of a graphic profile will be made for the magazine. Thisdegree project will result in the production of a »dummy« magazine to be presented to the client and tobe used by the advertisement sales people in their work.The magazine, named »Varvet«, will convey the message that anyone can run Göteborgsvarvet. Theintention is to give the magazine a »youthful and sporty« image.The work in this degree project has comprised designing the magazine in co-operation with an editorialconcept developer and a project leader at Tidningskompaniet, and also the production of 18 magazinepages including prepress work. The magazine has been made into a strictly sectionized product,with a mix of short and long articles with lighter material and strict how-to-do-it guides. The designhas been made to complement the editorial concept, with typography and colours that feel modern and»active«.The dummy magazine has been digitally printed using a Xeikon digital press and has been distributedto the client and the advertisement sales bureau.

Etre d'avant-garde, dans la conception de l'intellectuel arabe, implique l'engagement. Cette position se traduit, particulierement dans la poesie, par la recherche du nouveau. Al maggati est pour la poesie marocaine d'expression arabe un element representatif de ce mouvement. Notre demarche dans l'etude de sa poesie releve d'une methodologie simple qui se veut en contact intime avec le texte : elle le percoit comme un message a decoder, le met en situation de parole et l'ecoute pour mieux approcher les sources de sa poesie. Le texte n'est pas toujours clair : discours explicite et discours implicite s'entremelent. Le premier laisse voir une evolution qui debute dans l'enthousiasme et finit dans la desillusion et la tentation du silence. Le second recele une angoisse metaphysique et un doute systematique. L'ecriture poetique chez al maggati repose sur l'image. Son examen permet de constater une evolution en deux periodes : la premiere est descriptive : le vers, unite reguliere, y determine l'etendue de l'image ; la deuxieme est expansive, caracterisee par la liberation du vers et par un emploi plus generalise du symbole, du mythe et d'autres procedes suggestifs. L'aspect prosodique participe a un mouvement d'ensemble puisant son dynamisme dans une vision du monde deneutralisante selon laquelle les elements du poeme sont lies par des rapports dialectiques. Les mots sont combines en correlation avec le sens et le rythme, en vue de produire une construction efficiente et suggestive. Malgre ses audaces, le poete ne sacrifiera jamais les principes fondamentaux de la prosodie arabe tels qu'al khalil les avait degages. L'essentiel a ete pour cette etude d'etre le plus possible proche du texte. Aussi un appendice a t'il ete prevu pour contenir le corpus et sa version francaise.

Les differents points etudies concernant les effets du soufre en catalyse trois-voies, sont l'influence du dioxyde de soufre sur l'activite des catalyseurs en oxydation du propene et du propane, la caracterisation par reduction a temperature programmee (rtp) sous hydrogene de catalyseurs sulfates et enfin, l'influence des sulfates sur la capacite de stockage d'oxygene (osc) de catalyseurs supportes sur alumine-cerine et cerine-zircone. L'activite du platine depose sur alumine, alumine-cerine ou cerine-zircone est exaltee en oxydation du propane en presence de so 2. Cet effet promoteur serait lie a l'apparition de nouveaux sites permettant l'adsorption dissociative du propane, etape limitante de la reaction d'oxydation. Ces nouveaux sites seraient les sulfates (ou so x) formes sur le platine et sur le support. Dans le cas des catalyseurs a base de palladium, seul le support cerine-zircone permet de promouvoir l'activite de ce metal en oxydation du propane. La caracterisation par rtp des catalyseurs a montre que le taux de sulfatation est superieur sur alumine-cerine comparee a la cerine-zircone. Sur pt/al 2o 3-ceo 2, le pic de reduction des sulfates est large (300-600\c) et correspond a la reduction de sulfates de cerium et d'aluminium. En revanche, deux pics apparaissent sur pt/ceo 2-zro 2 : l'un vers 200\c lie a la reduction des sulfates de cerium de surface, l'autre a 450\c correspondant a la reduction de sulfates de cur. En presence de propane, le controle de la composition du melange oxydant/reducteur a la stchiometrie permet de limiter la sulfatation du catalyseur. Le soufre stocke sur les catalyseurs inhibe les osc a basse temperature (300-400\c), cet effet augmentant avec le taux de sulfatation. En revanche, a 600\c,

Magasinen somlanserats för plattan - de digitala magasinen -har ännu inte till fullo funnit sitt uttryck och ärinte alltid anpassade till den nya plattformensom läsarna läser på. Denna uppsats ären undersökning av huruvida förbättradeinteraktions- och navigationsmöjligheter idessa magasin kan ge användaren en bättreläsupplevelse. Undersökningen grundar sig påett remedieringsperspektiv och visar att det finnsbåde fördelar - så som en snabbare navigationoch ökade möjligheter för en individualiseradläsprocess och nackdelar - så som en längreinlärningsprocess och potentiell förvirringhos nya användare. Metoden som används iundersökningen är kvalitativa intervjuer med inslagav deltagande observation.<br>Recently a new form of media for magazines hasemerged, the tablet. These new digital magazineshave not yet fully found their expression and manyare not adjusted to the new platform throughwhich they are viewed by their readers. This is aninvestigation of whether improved navigation andan increase in interactivity in these magazines canimprove the readers experience. The investigationis grounded in a remediation perspective, andshows that there are both advantages, includinga speedier navigation and increased possibilityto create a personalized reading-experience,and disadvantages, including a longer learningprocess and potential confusion for new readers.The methods used to reach this conclusion arequalitative interviews with elements of participantobservation.

Tradicionalment considerat com un intèrpret d’obres alienes o com un instrument a mans del director, l’actor no ha estat contemplat en la historiografia del cinema ni en els discursos essencials que articulen la teoria fílmica. Aquesta tesi aborda el conjunt d’interpretacions de l’actriu italiana Anna Magnani (1908-1973) des de la següent pregunta: Pot l’obra d’una actriu reflectir un univers estilístic propi? –i si n´és el cas- En quina mesura aquesta pot testimoniar les principals inquietuds i mutacions estètiques del cinema del seu temps? L’estudi es centra en la majoria de les interpretacions que Magnani va realitzar entre les dècades dels 40 i dels 60 del segle XX, i en l’adhesió d’aquestes a les principals corrents històriques del neorealisme italià, la modernitat europea i el post-classicisme nord-americà, així dels seus principals autors. Prenent la perspectiva teòrica dels star studies i l’anàlisi de la performance com a metodologia, la tesi treballa sobre una hipòtesi precisa: la capacitat de l’obra d’Anna Magnani per testimoniar, dialogar i participar de les qüestions essencials que conformen l’estètica cinematogràfica del seu temps sota el segell d’una autoria o d’una política d’actriu.

The overall objective of this study was to develop and characterise new normoxic polymer gel formulations for evaluation of complex 3-D treatment volumes for application in radiotherapy dosimetry. Throughout this thesis, the essential characteristics of normoxic polymer gels have been extensively investigated. Studies were performed on the chemical components of the MAGIC gel and an improved formulation was proposed. Various anti-oxidants were studied and different versions of the MAGIC gel with fewer chemicals were developed and named MAGAS and MAGAT gel dosimeters. The ascorbic acid anti-oxidant was found to have a slow oxygen scavenging rate and therefore a delay period between manufacture and irradiation of the MAGAS gel was necessary before the gel became radiation sensitive. Vacuum pumping on the MAGAS gel solution to remove dissolved oxygen was shown to initially increase the R2-dose response and sensitivity of the dosimeter, reducing the time between manufacture and irradiation. Studies of the MAGAS gel for measurement of depth dose showed that MAGAS gel has potential as a clinical radiotherapy dosimetry tool. The radiological properties of MAGIC, MAGAS and MAGAT gels were investigated. Due to their high gelatine and monomer concentration, differences with water were observed for the cross-section ratios for attenuation, energy absorption and collision stopping power coefficient ratios through the therapeutic energy range. It was determined that when using and developing normoxic polymer gels the most important consideration for radiological water equivalence are the mass and relative electron densities. A preliminary study was performed with the hypoxic PAG gel dosimeter combined with tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride anti-oxidant to form a normoxic PAG gel dosimeter named PAGAT gel. It was found PAGAT gel compared favourably with previous studies of the hypoxic PAG gel. An extensive study was subsequently undertaken in which PAGAT gel was investigated for a number of essential characteristics. The PAGAT gel formulation showed potential as a normoxic polymer gel for clinical radiotherapy dosimetry, which has a significantly reduced manufacturing time and procedure compared with the hypoxic PAG gel dosimeter. The radiological attenuation properties of the PAGAT and MAGAT gels were investigated as a feasibility study for using x-ray computerised tomography (CT) as an evaluation technique of normoxic polymer gels. CT was shown to have potential as an evaluation tool for measuring the dose response of normoxic polymer gel dosimeters. An investigation was performed on the CT diagnostic dose response of normoxic polymer gels. Normoxic polymer gels were found to have potential for use as a specialised tool in measuring computerised tomography dose index (CTDI) for acceptance testing and quality assurance of CT scanners in diagnostic radiology. These findings provide a significant contribution toward the development and successful implementation of normoxic polymer gel dosimetry to clinical radiotherapy.

Det papperslösa samhället har varit ett begrepp i över trettio år, men än läser vi tidskrifter och magasin i pappersform. Vi konsumerar dock dagligen allt mer information och mycket av denna är i digital form. Tidskriften är en produkt som liksom CD-skivan är möjlig att helt och hållet digitalisera. Kanske är det en anledning till att upplagorna minskar för många tidskrifter i Sverige? Denna rapport syftar till att nå en fördjupad förståelse för hur svenska tidskrifter möter den digitala utvecklingen i fyra kanaler; webbplats, Twitter, Facebook och applikation för iPad (digital utgåva). Med deduktivt angreppsätt gjordes en innehållsanalys av information som publicerats i de fyra kanalerna. Observationerna kompletterades med sekundäranalys av offentlig statistik. 20 olika tidskrifter undersöktes, 10 stycken med ökande tryckt upplaga och 10 stycken med minskande tryckt upplaga.Resultaten visar inget tydligt samband mellan hög aktivitet/närvaro i digitala medier och enminskande upplaga. Det är vanligare att tidskrifter med minskande upplaga finns på Twitter.Att ha ett Facebook-konto är lika vanligt i båda urvalsgrupperna. Att publicera en digital utgåva av en i huvudsak tryckt tidskrift är relativt ovanligt förekommande.<br>The paperless society has been a concept for more than 30 years now, yet we still readmagazines in printed form today. But we also consume a lot more information today than weused to, and this information is increasingly in digital form. The magazine is a physical product that just like the CD is possible to turn completely digital. Maybe this is a reason for the rapid decline of printed circulation among Swedish magazine publishers? This report aim to increase the knowledge of how Swedish publishers meet the digital development in four different channels, website, Twitter, Facebook and digital edition for iPad.A content analysis of the information in the four different channels was conducted on 20different magazines, 10 with an increasing printed circulation and 10 with a declining printedcirculation.The results show no clear indication that there is a connection between high digitalpresence/activity and declining printed circulation. It is however more common amongmagazines with a declining circulation to be present at Twitter. Publishing a digital edition of a printed magazine is still relatively uncommon among Swedish magazines.

The purpose of this study is to understand mineral diagenesis authigenic mineral and the effect of climate on mineral of Pleistocene-Holocene sediment deposits in the Southern Kenya Rift. Lake Magadi unique geologic settings are characterized by extreme alkalinity and high silica activities. The mineralogical analysis was achieved by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) applications. The bulk mineralogy (quartz, halite, calcite) is the same on all localities due to similar volcaniclastics compositions throughout the Kenya Rift Valley. The clay mineralogy significantly differ among the groups of sample localities. The differences reflect different tectonic settings and ambient climate regime. In humid climate at higher elevation detrital clay minerals are abundant (feldspars, phillipsite). At lower elevation like Lake Magadi, the clay fractions dominated by authigenic minerals (zeolites and silicate minerals found with zeolites). These results show the potential of clay minerals as terrestrial climate proxies.
