Abstract:
The article is devoted to the Swiss philosopher Charles Secrétan (1815–1895), unknown in our country. The article provides an outline of the life and work of the Lausanne thinker, based on letters and other documents from the family archive, carefully preserved by his daughter Louise Secrétan. To understand the philosophy of freedom developed by Secrétan, it is not enough to establish the intraphilosophical impulses received by the Swiss philosopher from Schelling, Kant and Maine de Biran. Secrétan’s philosophy of freedom, the author of the article believes, cannot be understood in its genesis without reference to a specific historical and cultural context, including the intellectual and political history of not only the Swiss Confederation as a whole, but also of the canton of Vaud, which is Secrétan’s homeland. The author of the article shows that Secrétan’s highest ideal, already in his youth, was freedom as an irrefutable reality and as the highest value, the symbol of which is the coat of arms of his canton. The article presents the idea that freedom in conjunction with will and morality forms the basis of the philosophical intuition, deeply rooted in the Secrétan’s consciousness, that emerged in him even before his meeting with Schelling, that only gave an incentive to reveal the already existing germ of his thought in the philosophical system. According to the author of the article, the study of Secrétan’s work allows us to better understand not only the insufficiently studied French-speaking spiritualism, the founder of which was Maine de Biran, but also to deepen our understanding of the essence of freedom. The analysis of Secrétan’s philosophy is carried out in the article in comparison with the Russian tradition.

Abstract:
For years, the skyscrapers in New York were firmly planted in Mid-town and down at the end of the island not by choice, but because there the dense Pegmatite-rich rock was exposed at the surface—Mica Schist strong enough to hold the weight of towers. This same type of rock inhabits the coast of Maine, vast areas of Scotland and Riverside Park along the Hudson. As a kid, I knew Mica from streets that glinted in the sun, playgrounds peopled by boulders that seemed made of silver and gold, rocks on the beach with layers you could peel open like pages in a book. A Mineralogy curator named Peter told me mineral samples of Mica are sometimes termed “books.” My mother remembers finding books of Mica in the alley next to the building where she grew up in Brooklyn. Edgar Allan Poe lived across from Riverside Park when he is rumored to have written The Raven. If you find a shimmering stone in the area and leave it on the granite plaque on West 83rd street, your book of Mica becomes part of a memorial to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. I imagine all these volumes together. A library composed of only rocks and minerals, every layer another narrative.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the peculiarities of the political philosophy of the ancestor of French spiritualism based on documents published at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries. The specificity of his worldview in the early period of philosophical activity is considered, as well as the reasons that prompted him to turn to politics after the Thermidorian coup. Negative attitude towards the Jacobeans, regrets about the fall of the monarchy are very characteristic of his views during this period. He meets the Thermidorian republic and then the empire with hopes for close peace, social stability, based on strict observance of laws. At first, he praises Napoleon as a genius who “pacifies and comforts”. But then comes disappointment, a continuous sequence of wars leads him to condemn the Napoleonic policy as part of the “commission of five” of legislative corps in December 1813. The philosopher meets the restoration as an event consistent with the plans of Providence. Undoubtedly, the appeal to religious philosophy was largely motivated by Biran's political experience.

Coco, Janice. "Dialogues with the Self: New Thoughts on Marsden Hartley's Self-Portraits." Prospects 30 (October 2005): 623–49. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s0361233300002209.

Abstract:
Scholars have long acknowledged the crucial role biography plays in Marsden Hartley's oeuvre, as many have used his autobiography Somehow a Past and his homosexuality to interpret his recurring motifs. As a recognized writer and painter, he figured prominently in American modernism and was among the first to explore abstraction as his prime expression. Heavily influenced by European models, he forged a mature style drawn from German expressionism and his affinity for the mystic transcendentalism of writers such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, William James, and Walt Whitman. A lifelong transient, he stood apart from those in the Alfred Stieglitz circle (Figure 1), spending more time outside the United States than in, returning at the end of his life to become “the painter of Maine.” General consensus allows that Hartley's early life influenced his images directly; but, more specifically, art historian Bruce Robertson suggests that Hartley turned to self-portraiture in his last years to work through childhood issues of loss and abandonment. Following suit, this essay considers these tender issues further with a reading of four late paintings, of which two are not yet recognized as self-portraits.The paintings themselves are treated as sites to explore and define the self, in the words of the psychoanalyst D. W. Winnicott, as a “potential space” in which the artist reengages with and attempts to resolve past issues. More specifically, Winnicott describes a psychological transition, a buffer zone between mind and reality, used to cope with maturational issues. In this metaphorical space, one creates symbols and forms object relationships, meaning, a personal language with which to negotiate the real world and one's place in it. All cultural production, Winnicott argues, results from this interim process, which acts as a defensive filter to mitigate harsh truths — in Hartley's case, the loss of both parents and feelings of rejection. From this perspective, I focus narrowly on the symbolic arrangement by which identity issues merge with metaphysics, sex, and death. Although much has been written on these themes, I interpret the paintings' usefulness to Hartley, the ways that they functioned as tools, moving him toward personal integration. In dealing with issues of loss and mourning, I necessarily reflect on dark subject matter; even so, this study is not meant to represent the whole of Hartley's character. A complex person, he was not in a constant state of turmoil and, as Jonathan Weinberg, Donna Cassidy, and many others have demonstrated, Hartley was driven by much more than psychological angst. However, the lens of psychoanalysis (in this case, psychobiography and object relations) provides an additional way to interpret these late images.

Abstract:
The posthumous publication of Miserias de la guerra in 2006, fifty-five years after Pío Baroja had presented it to Franco’s censors, forced Spanish critics, like José-Carlos Mainer, to rethink the position of the Basque writer in the eve of the Spanish Civil War. Baroja was always absolutely critical in relation to the Spanish policy, but he seemed to have chosen silence prior to and during the war. This article proposes, firstly, a link between Baroja’s work and his own biography in order to, eventually accommodate its place in the narrative of the Spanish Civil War. Finally, we will analyze Miserias de la guerra, the essayistic novel that discusses the moments before the civil war and describes Madrid during that period.

Birman, Joël. "La voix de Dieu et les mains de Bispo." psychologie clinique, no. 45 (2018): 136–48. http://dx.doi.org/10.1051/psyc/201845136.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This article is part of a more detailed study of “pictopoetry” as a phenomenon, where we define its place in the genre system of surrealism on the example of Paul Eluard and Man Ray collection “Les Mains libres” (“Free Hands”). The activities of the surrealists expanded the artistic vision of the world to previously unknown boundaries. In particular, we observe these innovative achievements in the field of poetry, where A. Breton, W. Browner, P. Eluard and other representatives of this trend continued to search for new poetic intermediate forms, genre paradigms. The genre repertoire of surrealists is characterized by unusual diversity, exploratory nature and freedom from restrictions, and the short existence of new genres that did not mature in time, complicates the study of the genre system of this art direction, so it remains an unexplored field in literature. Forms and genres of poetry created within the framework of surrealism did not acquire a broad enough scientific understanding that would allow them to be systematized. Among contemporary French literary critics, more and more scientists turn to P. Eluard`s creative heritage, but some of them focus on the specifics of his collection “Free Hands”. In particular, in the few works of French scientists (S. Caron, J.-L. Benoit, M.F. Leudet, C. Leconte) considered only some aspects of the nature of the synthesis of graphic and textual components of the collection “Free Hands”, and the problem of P. Eluard and Man Ray pictopoetry’s poetics as a phenomenon significant for genre researches of surrealists is not staged at all. As for the specifics of the poetics of P. Eluard`s “pictopoetry”, it remains almost unexplored today. In the works of I. Ehrenburg and S. Velykovsky, the main attention is focused on the general analysis of P. Eluard`s poetry, his experience in the use of free verse and automatic writing. P. Eluard’s contribution to the development of visual poetry and the intermediate nature of his works are only partially considered by T. Balashova, Y. Dovga, I. Medvedeva, and the experience of poet’s work in tandem with illustrators became the subject of E. Miroshnikova special analysis. In Ukrainian Eluard`s studies, the attention of scinetists is focused on the study of biography, some techniques of the poet, for example, the use of free verse and automatic writing (O. Benina, V. Soloveychik), but not on the pictpoetry’s poetics as important sign of poetry of surrealism and it’s genre innovations. This fact necessitates the filling of the gaps that currently exist in the study of surrealist poetry in its innovative, revolutionary forms, including the “pictopoetry” of the master of surrealism – the French poet Paul Eluard. “Pictopoetry” as a concept developed theoretically by W. Brauner and revealed by P. Eluard in the collection “Free Hands” (created in collaboration with the artist Man Ray), embodies the intermedia research for surrealists of the twentieth century in general, as well as the unique experience of co-creation of two surrealist artists on a fundamentally new level, which goes far beyond the traditional collaboration of poet and illustrator. Therefore, P. Eluard`s “pictopoetry” is understood as an innovative form of surrealist poetry, built on the principle of synthesis of arts, on the intermediality. It seems relevant both in terms of understanding the work of surrealist poets, and in the context of Eluard’s studies, where the figure of the poet as an innovator, the practice of intermedia art, still remains insufficiently revealed. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the originality of the poetics of Paul Eluard’s “pictopoetry” in the collection “Free Hands”. The article analyzes both literary and psycholinguistic means of expressing the double code in the collection on the example of duopoems. It is determined that the intermedia research method of the boundary state image, in which surreal images are intertwined at the level of poetic word and image, creating new meanings, defines the poetics of “Free Hands” as a collection created “in four hands”. This fact will allow us to analyze more thoroughly both the phenomenon of “pictopoetry” in particular and the contribution of the poet and artist in its development.

Abstract:
At the very beginning of the 21st century, a team of archaeologists dived on the wreck of a small 18th century warship in the north of the current Dominican Republic. Its hull is of American manufacture, its guns are Scottish and the buttons of uniforms are French. After having followed some false leads, the research in the National Archives makes it possible to solve this enigma: it concerns the French corvette Dragon of Chevalier de L’Espine, destroyed in January 1783 after a short action against British vessels ensuring the northern blockade of Santo Domingo. This identification serves as a catalyst for a historical research of which Chevalier Joseph de L'Espine du Puy (1759-1826) constitutes the central character. The investigation reveals the fate of the Navy officer L'Espine upstream and downstream of his gallant action in January 1783. Young Knight of Malta and officer of the Navy of Louis XVI, L'Espine participated in the American Revolution, did a mandatory service in the Navy of Malta, and took part in French naval intelligence secret missions. The French Revolution ruined his hopes and forced him into exile. In Austria, he won the confidence of the high Austrian authorities by unambiguously engaging with the armies of France from 1795. L'Espine quickly became one of the brains of an Austrian Navy questioned at each treaty signed between France and Austria. Promoted to Feldmarschall-Leutnant in 1813, L'Espine decided not to return to France at the Restauration. Appointed Governor of Milan in November 1825, he died there on December 31, 1826

Abstract:
This dissertation is a biography of French Admiral Georges Thierry d’Argenlieu (1889-1964), whose religious name was Father Louis de la Trinité, of the Order of Discalced Carmelites. After joining the École Navale in 1906, he took part in the campaign in Morocco and served in the Mediterranean during the First World War. After the conflict, he left the Navy and entered the order of the Discalced Carmelite Friars; this was the consequence of a personal evolution that had started before the war. In 1932, he was elected Provincial Superior of the Order. He was one of the main contributors to the renewal of the Order between the wars. He was mobilised in 1939 and captured during the defence of Cherbourg, but he escaped shortly after and joined De Gaulle in London. From London to Dakar and from Gabon to New Caledonia, he held major positions in the Free French Forces. As the first Chancellor of the Order of the Liberation and a close friend of Général De Gaulle, he had a prominent status in the Navy. In August 1945, he was appointed High Commissioner in Indochina. His mandate was marked by the impossibility to reach an agreement with Hô Chi Minh and the beginning of the First Indochina War. He was recalled to France in 1947 and resumed religious life. This dissertation is notably based on Georges d’Argenlieu’s unpublished personal papers; it aims to provide consistency to the itinerary of a complex man who led an uncompromising life. It explores politico-military relations, the role of Christians in secular society, the relations between senior officers and the French Republic as well as the colonial vision and mores of France at the time of the Liberation

Abstract:
José Maria Dantas Pereira was one protagonist of the Portuguese Maritime History, namely in the nautical teaching area, as a product of his overwhelming dedication with which he served the Marine Guards Company. But besides his stupendous route in the enlightened institution, Dantas Pereira performed as well notable deeds in many other domains, being distinguished for his pushful spirit concerning the creation and diffusion of scientific knowledge, both in the Navy and national domains. From his literature, we studied with greater focus his works regarding pasygraphy, a universal writing system. These contributions, being pioneers on national territory, are an important mark on the analysis of this navy officer bibliography, as well on the history of Portuguese science, illustrating the versality of Dantas Pereira, who, besides a military, reveals to have been an enlightened Portuguese thinker. In addition to this, and because of the impact that our character had in the institution of nautical teaching in the XIX century, we analyzed his naval career, since his disciple times, in 1788, until his exile in 1834. For this, we give our own biographical notes, revealing Dantas Pereira outstanding performance during his education, his accomplishments as both Commander of the prestigious Company and State servant, as well as the circumstances of the final stages of his life. To identify other subjects of interest by Dantas Pereira, his bibliography will also be exposed, divided in the different areas that he studied, as well as the works that he presented to the scientific institutions of his time, namely the Royal Maritime Society, and the Lisbon Royal Sciences Academy

Abstract:
AbstractPolitical biographies and the narratives of the nation-state may exert a reciprocal fictional influence: the nation as imagined community is often embodied in the biographies of imaginary actors. Since the 2004 launch of the transitional justice process in Morocco this tendency has led to increased attention for the stories of the victims of the violations committed by the State between 1956 and 1999 as if they were the main witnesses of the political change. In parallel, the protagonists of the nationalist struggle that led to independence from the French protectorate in 1956 have been acknowledged without, apparently, feeling it necessary to hear what they have to say about it. This chapter reflects on theoretical and methodological perspectives that allow the use of biography to explore political change beyond taken-for-granted conceptions of the nation-state and its trajectories of change. Reflecting on the relationship that developed between the author and a single actor called Abk, who wanted to tell his life story, the chapter proposes the writing of biography as a form of archival research and a fieldwork practice for exploring memory. It shows how paying attention to personal ways of conserving memory and remembering enables us to approach politics beyond predefined horizons of change without seeing a priori social configurations as ineluctable givens. Such a perspective, which the author calls “discrete”, suggests considering politics as a phenomenon that is difficult to fit into formal models of explanation, and taking subjectivity, the variability of life paths and contingency as relevant objects of inquiry for understanding political change.

Abstract:
AbstractPart I provides an overview of the development of the field of salutogenesis, as background for the remaining chapters in The Handbook of Salutogenesis. Chapter 2 by Bengt Lindström reviews mileposts in the development of the field from the late 1990s until today. Chapter 3 by Maurice Mittelmark and Georg Bauer is a revision and expansion of a chapter in the 2017 Edition, meant to convey some of the main ways the term ‘salutogenesis’ is used today. Chapter 4 is of particular importance in this Handbook. Written by Aaron Antonovsky’s son Avishai Antonovsky, and by one of his closest colleagues and former PhD student, Shifra Sagy; this revised chapter from the 2017 Edition provides the first biography of the founding father of salutogenesis. Chapter 5, also from the 2017 Edition, is a summary of Antonovsky’s development of the Salutogenic Model of Health. The editors are convinced it is among the best synopses available. Chapter 6 by Georg Bauer provides the reader with a description of Salutogenesis meeting places. The reader wanting to connect more directly to a global salutogenesis network will find this chapter to be of great practical value. Finally, Chap. 7 by Lenneke Vaandrager of The Netherlands and colleagues from Spain, Germany, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom and Poland trace the development of higher education in salutogenesis in Europe, spanning 30 years.

Abstract:
Abstract Geologist Ferdinand Lane explores the geological history of the Appalachian mountain range in the next selection. Lane’s review of the mountains’ biography, from 1950, gives a (then) settled interpretation of their origins. In the 1980s, John McPhee reported on a new, unresolved argument about the role of tectonic plates as causal factors in the formation of the Appalachians. Thus even something as solid as the rocks underfoot turns out to be as debatable as the weather overhead. Perhaps, when in a heavy sweat while scaling the tallest peaks along the AT Clingman’s Dome, North Carolina; Mt. Washington, New Hampshire; and Mt. Katahdin, Maine-hikers can distract themselves from their arduous efforts by contemplating how long it took the gods to build these mountains in the first place.

Abstract:
This chapter looks at the notion of biodiversity and the conservation of the ocean. It explores patterns of biological diversity from the broader perspectives of evolution, extinction, and biogeography. Regional variation in geography and climate influences the origin of species, and also the degree of geographic structuring of the world into assemblages of species. The chapter then elaborates on factors of diversity, speciation, extinction, and biography in the ocean. It explains how many marine invasions are facilitated by human transport, referencing the subsequent local extinctions and homogenization of marine biot after the introduction of new species. Thus, conservation genetics play a role in identifying both species and genetically distinct populations.

Abstract:
Topicality of the study is related to the in-depth study of the art of works of Van Gogh, Velázquez and Repin by relating art to the biography of these authors. The aim of the study is to explore the symbolism and the biography of the painters using the examples of analysis from the works of Van Gogh, Velasquez, and Repin and also to determine the conditions that contribute to the awareness of the process of perception and understanding of paintings. The methodology of this study is figuratively symbolic method used with the purpose to compare the plots of the art and to relate them to the life experience of their creators. Results obtained and the most important conclusions: This is important for the author of a painting to convey his/her thoughts and feelings to the viewer. Still, there remains a problem. The author uses the language of the image and symbol, which the viewer needs to reveal. Psychology of art offers two main options for solving this problem. The essence of the first option which is the ability of the painter to direct the viewer's sight. It is called the Dutch approach. The second approach to the analyses of art is called the Italian approach. In this case this is important to understand the symbolism and knowledge gained historically by relating one’s art works to the biography of the painter. The authors of this article focus on the second approach by illustrating it with examples of analysis from the works of Van Gogh, Velázquez, and Repin. The results of this study might be of interest for those who are interested in arts and psychology.

The article offers an analysis of some structural features of the poetic semantics of the poem The Song of Everlasting Sorrow by Bai Juyi (白居易《长恨歌》, 806) in biographical, historical and cultural contexts, and also draws a parallel with possible prototypes. In this regard, the main purpose of the article is to consider some semantic and structural connections related to the chronotope, archetypes and prototypes on the material of the The Song. During the work on the study, it was found out that the narrative model of “avoiding facts” (避实就虚) was used in the plot of the poem, superimposed on factual material and related to the biography of the emperors Han Wudi (汉武帝) and Tang Xuanzong (唐玄宗).

Abstract:
The present work aims to address the role that psychology plays within literary works starting from a "critical" reading aimed at understanding and recognizing the psychological and in some works also psychopathological traits present within the texts. Our goal will be to present the conscious and unconscious aspects of the various characters and identify the reasons that prompted the author to create and analyze certain psychological issues and certain environmental situations. The methodology that will be used will mainly be that indicated by Professor Antonio Fusco which aims and which tends to enhance the contribution of the Author's conscious Ego, of the emotional centers and of the unconscious contents of the mind following in part the line of the psychiatrist Silvano Arieti who in one of his main works illustrates the concept of tertiary thinking and sees it as a synthesis of unconscious, endoceptual and conceptual elements [1]. The aspects that will allow you to better understand the facets of a literary work will be reading, knowledge of the author's biography and identifying with the characteristic features of the characters. On the relationship between mind, art, literature and psychoanalysis over time we have had numerous contributions from not only Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung, but also many other authors. Just think of the various writers who have dealt with very important psychological and psychoanalytic themes through their novels; in the present work we will limit our attention to a psychological investigation of the work Zeno's conscience by Italo Svevo. Through the analysis of the characters and their inner life, it will be our task to be able to make the reader identify completely with the life described by the authors of the literary works. In this perspective, the psychologist will try to work alongside the traditional literary critic with the sole propose of providing a further humble investigative contribution. In conclusion, it can be said that the thread that binds psychology to many literary works is very thin.

Grigore Moisil's vision on learning The need for computer was not the dream of a scientist or an inventor, was the medium (product) that are combined and used a variety of effective solutions offered by science and technology to solve practical problems that faced in the period 1940-1960 the powerful nations of the world: USA, USSR and UK. The main issues that were major and urgent even were military-defense and conquest of outer space, the last issue is still a major problem for defense. Factors that influenced the conception, design and development of computer systems are all factors scientific, technological, social, cultural, economic, political, military, etc. At the level of individuals in a society, it can be said that the destiny and their lives are influenced by the factors outlined above. Factors that influenced the conception, design and development of computer systems are all factors scientific, technological, social, cultural, economic, political, military, etc. Un example would be October 4, 1957, when the Soviet Union launched the Sputnik satellite in outer space ( 83.6 kg), Earth's first artificial satellite, when US leaders were concerned about a Soviet first strike could be a preemptive strike; It was when the US Department of Defense Military began several research projects; Consequently, on 31 January 1958 was launched Explorer 1 (14 kg), the first artificial satellite launched by the US, Soviet satellites being third after Sputnik 1 and 2 . At the level of individuals of a society, we can say that destiny and their lives are influenced by the factors mentioned above. No need to come up with arguments or examples, simple study of biographies of scientists, art, etc., who lived in different periods of history will be enlightening for anyone. About Grigore C. Moisil: He was a member of the Romanian Academy, of the Academy of Bologna, and of the International Institute of Philosophy. Moisil was a professor of mathematical logic and computer science at the University of Bucharest, and taught in various universities in Europe and America. His early contributions were in mathematics and later he devoted his scientific activity to mathematical logic and computer science. He pioneered the application of mathematical logic to computer science. In the 1950s, Prof. Moisil developed a new structural theory of finite automata and proposed what he called "the trivalent Lukaszewiczian algebra applied to the logic of switching circuits", an important contribution to the development of computer science in those early years. Some of his books were translated in several languages. At a time when cybernetics was thought of as "reactionary bourgeois science directed against working class" Prof. Moisil used his scientific authority to personally encourage the Romanian scientists to build the first computer, that appeared in 1957. Abstract:
The report considers the approach to the mechanism of interpretation of the oneiric content from the position of authentic psychotherapy: the basic elements of a dream, principles of the analysis of images, sources of psychogenesis of images. 174 "Authentic counseling is intended for any individual who is aware of being part of life, as this type of counseling belongs exclusively to the sphere of the individual. Counseling of this type is oriented to those people who feel a transcendent need, who in the face of a problem do not panic but transform it in a moment of growth" [A. Meneghetti]. The main goal of authentication psychotherapy is the identification, authentication and development of the client's personal ethics, which leads him/her to a recovery of responsibility in an existential sense and the need to realize their creative potential. Authentication means that the subject's logical-historical self has reached the necessary level of maturity to realize its ontic uniqueness. Authentic psychotherapy relies on six languages of the unconscious (linguistic anamnesis and historical biography, symptom or problem analysis, physiognomic-kinetic-proxemic analysis, oneiric analysis, semantic field and outcome), among which the oneiric language is one of the most important. From the point of view of ontopsychology, a dream is a set of figurative projections identifying the subject's real state in biological, psychological and ontic terms. The main elements (principles) on which the psychotherapist relies are: the causal cause of the symbol, the functionality of the action for the subject and the semantic criterion, which is one of the tools of ontopsychology. In the course of therapy, complete dreams are analyzed, in which it is possible to see both the current situation and the cause of it and the solution – a positive way out for the client's existential situation. The results of research of dynamics of changes of symbols in oneiric activity accompanying process of historical evolution of subjects during authentication psychotherapy have shown, that functional changes in a historical situation of the client undergoing authentication psychotherapy lead to functional changes of symbols of a dream. Conventionally they can be designated as images of: life, opportunity, freedom and natural metabolism. When a person is in a situation of historical non-functionality, symbols of moral and ideological order will prevail: authority, subordination, super-self, honors. In this way the oneiric analysis allows identifying and verbalizing the most important intention for the client, leading to sustainable success and health.

The subject of the study is the cooperation of S. Efremov with Western Ukrainian periodicals as a page in the history of Ukrainian journalism which covers the relationship of journalists and scientists of Eastern and Western Ukraine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.

Abstract:
The article clarifies of gender identity stereotypes in modern media. The main gender stereotypes covered in modern mass media are analyzed and refuted. The model of gender relations in the media is reflected mainly in the stereotypical images of men and woman. The features of the use of gender concepts in modern periodicals for women and men were determined. The most frequently used derivatives of these macroconcepts were identified and analyzed in detail. It has been found that publications for women and men are full of various gender concepts that are used in different contexts. Ingeneral, theanalysisofthe concept-maximums and concept-minimum gender and their characteristics is carried out in the context of gender stereotypes that have been forme dand function in the society, system atizing the a ctual presentations. The study of the gender concept is relevant because it reveals new trends and features of modern gender images. Taking into account the special features of gender-labeled periodicals in general and the practical absence of comprehensive scientific studies of the gender concept in particular, there is a need to supplement Ukrainian science with this topic. Gender psychology, which is served by methods of various sciences, primarily sociological, pedagogical, linguistic, psychological, socio-psychological. Let us pay attention to linguistic and psycholinguistic methods in gender studies. Linguistic methods complement intelligence research tasks, associated with speech, word and text. Psycholinguistic methods used in gender psychology (semantic differential, semantic integral, semantic analysis of words and texts), aimed at studying speech messages, specific mechanisms of origin and perception, functions of speech activity in society, studying the relationship between speech messages and gender properties participants in the communication, to analyze the linguistic development in connection with the general development of the individual. Nowhere in gender practice there is the whole arsenal of psychological methods that allow you to explore psychological peculiarities of a person like observation, experiments, questionnaires, interviews, testing, modeling, etc. The methods of psychological self-diagnostics include: the gender aspect of the own socio-psychological portrait, a gender biography as a variant of the biographical method, aimed at the reconstruction of individual social experience. In the process of writing a gender autobiography, a person can understand the characteristics of his gender identity, as well as ways and means of their formation. Socio-psychological methods of studying gender include the study of socially constructed women’s and men’s roles, relationships and identities, sexual characteristics, psychological characteristics, etc. The use of gender indicators and gender approaches as a means of socio-psychological and sociological analysis broadens the subject boundaries of these disciplines and makes them the subject of study within these disciplines. And also, in the article a combination of concrete-historical, structural-typological, system-functional methods is implemented. Descriptive and comparative methods, method of typology, modeling are used. Also used is a method of content analysis for the study of gender content of modern gender-stamped journals. It was he who allowed quantitatively to identify and explore the features of the gender concept in the pages of periodicals for women and men. A combination of historical, structural-typological, system-functional methods is also implemented in the article. Descriptive and comparative methods, method of typology, modeling are used. A method of content analysis for the study of gender content of modern gender-labeled journals is also used. It allowed to identify and explore the features of the gender concept quantitatively in the periodicals for women and men. The conceptual perception and interpretation of the gender concept «woman», which is highlighted in the modern gender-labeled press in Ukraine, requires the elaboration of the polyfunctionality of gender interpretations, the comprehension of the metaphorical perception of this image and its role and purpose in society. A gendered approach to researching the gender content of contemporary periodicals for women and men. Conceptual analysis of contemporary gender-stamped publications within the gender conceptual sphere allows to identify and correlate the meta-gender and gender concepts that appear in society.
