Full textThis thesis is dedicated to the study of the city of Malanje in the history of Angola, the end of XIX-th century in 1975. It is about a city of Africa situated in the centre - North of Angola. Angola counts several regions and important cities, but one of these cities often draws attention, seen the level of the development of economic and commercial activities of the country : it is Malanje and the region. The choice to make a study on the history of the mode of political, commercial and social organisation of the city of Malanje seems to us of a major importance, contrary to most of the known Angolan cities today by their different activities Malanje represents a town or another a conglomeration of which creation is the fact of the Portuguese storekeepers, the luso-Angolan half-bloods, Afro-brésiliens and finally Brazilians. The development of Malanje joins in the dynamics on one hand, former (ancient) commercial networks organized by the luso-African traders, on the other hand, of the development of the agricultural colonization. Alliances among agricultural Angolan producer’s local and itinerant (mobile) storekeepers of the region contributed to the implementation of strategies and powerful enough relation’s afin to control exchanges. The organization of the city of Malanje results not only from turnovers registered (recorded) in the political, economic, commercial and social organization précoloniale, but also of the dependence of specific political conditions in Portugal. In the crossroads of commercial main roads of the North of the country, Malanje knew a continuous evolution, resisting to European and Portuguese interventions, when the autochthons of the region (Ngola, Njinga, Imbangala and the others) tried to give themselves political means, and especially economic, to face the new requirements of international trade, after the abolition of the draft négrier. Malanje took up this challenge above all due to the products which fed the "justifiable" business, production of his(its, her) very fertile lands, but also those of all the region. We know indeed that first Portuguese intentions were not those of the conquest with the aim of a territorial activity (occupation); they were short of means and even of the will in front of the opposition of the populations met in the zone and at their level of social organization. How did one arrive it at a situation where the city of Malanje translates Portuguese power in its entire rigor at the same time as in its politics (policy) of spatial discrimination and impoverishment of the African populations in this city? How, bit by bit, is reduced the field of African exercise of power to Malanje ? By cultivating the discriminatory attitudes and racists, Portuguese authorities carefully maintained antagonism between the "white" city and the "black" city to Malanje. How shows itself this antagonism and, in spite of some rare organizations, which are the stages of it until the independence of Angola in 1975 ?. These main preoccupations are translated by two essential hypotheses:-First hypothesis tries to examine origin and development of the city of Malanje towards the dynamics luso - African transforming this city, following the desolation of Kasanje's fair in 1861, in mission control of economic activities of the region. -The second hypoyhèse considers Malanje as the symbiosis of two cities, African and white, of which dynamic joint (articulation) and growth answered the Portuguese political, economic and social rationality

Full textCurrently the Public Administration through public services that is offered to citizens have been on several reviews on the part of society, citizens claim that the services provided are not as expected, given the centralization of various services and often still bound the old model with a high degree of bureaucracy. For a good provision of public services, efficient, effective and Nearest the population, public administration and the central government, giving rise to local administration and the respeivo local government in order to meet and processcução the interests of the peoples in account the common good, seeking above all transparency in the exercise of public affairs.
Introduction: Palliative care comprises a care approach to the patient with severe illness with no therapeutic possibility of cure, until the terminal phase that culminates with death, and extends to the bereaved family. The purpose is to provide a better quality of life, based primarily on good communication between nurse, patient and the family. The study aims to identify the perception of nurses of the General Hospital of Malanje on communication in the field of palliative care. Methods: This is an exploratory, qualitative study in which sixteen nurses from three areas participated in the study, five of the Intensive Care Unit, seven of the Hospital Sanatório and four of the Emergency Medicine Bank of the above mentioned hospital, in the period from March to June 2019. For the data collection it was used a semi-structured interview script, addressing four dimensions: (1) the communication of the nurse with the patient during the course of the disease to the terminal phase; (2) giving bad news; (3) communication in the process of conspiracy of silence; (4) communication in the process of mourning between patient, nurse and bereaved family. The data were coded in order to allow the statistical analsysis. Results: The results suggest that there is difficulty in communication between the nurse, patient and family during the care process; nurses have a superficial knowledge of how important a good and adequate strategy of communication is in the process of transmitting bad news, knowledge derived from experience and working time, not from training in the area; the main strategies used by nurses at the moment of giving bad news and in the process of conspiracy of silence, are also by experience and working time, technique without scientific justification; and on the strategies used to deal with the different stages of mourning, attending the psychological, social and spiritual spheres, it was identified that giving psychological support to the patient, having a good relationship with the family and leaning on God are the main tactics to deal with and keep track of the situation. Conclusion: Although communication is valued by nurses as an effective element of the Palliative care process, it highlights the inexistent specific training on the area, basing their communication tactics mainly in the work experience.

Full textThis dissertation aims to establish criteria for the spelling of Angolan toponyms of African origin. In spite of their specific characteristics, we believe that toponyms are words like any others in the language and they are all subject to linguistic phenomena, including loanwords. Therefore, we believe that spelling rules depend on the linguistic system in which we wish to apply them and so we consider it inappropriate for the spelling rules of the Kimbundu language to condition the writing of Angolan toponyms in Portuguese. Documentary research was undertaken to collect data as well as fieldwork to contact the administrative and tribal authorities in Malanje municipality. Over 170 toponyms were collected (some in the Kimbundu language, some in Portuguese and others hybrid) which served as a corpus for this work. We also present a classification of toponyms according to their meaning, identify the morphological structure and propose some criteria to correctly write the toponyms both in Portuguese and Kimbundu languages.

We chose to develop, as a data collection process, semi-structured interviews and surveys by questionnaire. Since the interviews were directed to two coordinators and two directors of the schools and the questionnaires were addressed to 20 teachers. The questionnaires were made up of closed questions and guaranteed anonymity. After analyzing the collected data, it was possible to arrive at some conclusions about a set of practices and ways of exerting the intermediate leadership in the structures of educational coordination, which have an influence on the work of the teachers and, consequently, on the improvement of student learning in technical and vocational secondary education in the municipality of Malanje - Angola.

Full textThe thesis analyzes the constituent political violence to the formation of modern Angolan state, focusing mainly on violence carried out in the context of the armed conflict that took place in Angola, with particular emphasis on the northern Malanje province. Essentially, this thesis focuses on the impact that political violence unleashed in the city of Malanje, it had on social relations, as it opposed certain social groups’ one against other, mainly due to party-political motivation. The thesis also aims to analyze the dynamics of this political violence manifested by former military groups and urban militias deprived of military preparation in reaction to the presence of UNITA military forces taken, however, as strange corpus or Outsiders, after signing of the Bicesse agreements in 1991 between the government and the armed rebellion and the implementation of the first general elections under strong suspicion because of accumulated resentment. It is argued, however, that during and after the end of the armed conflict that ravaged mainly the province of Malanje and through resilient forms, there was room for “negotiation normality” in day-to-day people lives.

Full textSchistosomiasis is an acute and chronic parasitic disease caused by Schistosoma spp. Along with helminthiasis transmitted by the soil these are parasites associated with poverty, difficult sanitation conditions and lack of access to drinking water. These are disabling diseases that are endemic in Angola where more and more study has been done to better understand the extent and morbidity a priori and, subsequently, the implementation of urgent and necessary control measures. During October and November 2019, a descriptive study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Schistosomiasis and Helminths transmitted by soil in school-aged children in the province of Malanje to define preventive chemotherapy interventions to control these diseases. In this study individuals aged between 10 and 14 years of age, residing in the 14 municipalities in the province of Malanje were submitted to an epidemiological survey and analysis of samples of urine and feces. Determined by observing eggs using the urine filtration method, the prevalence of Schistosomiasis haematobium found was 20.3%. The infection was predominant in the male gender in individuals aged 11 and 10 years old, 23.3 and 22.4% respectively, and in the municipality of Malanje (36.0%). The average intensity of parasitism verified was 32 eggs / 10 ml of urine. At a significance level of 0.05, having bloody or cloudy urine was a significant predictor for urinary Schistosomiasis (Adjusted OR = 13.3; 95% CI: 6.678-26.346). In coprological exams (Kato-Katz) the prevalence of infection with Schistosoma mansoni was 0.3%. The estimated prevalence of soil-borne helminth infection was 57.2%. The infection was more prevalent in 10-year-old individuals. In the municipality of Quiuaba-N’Zogi it was found the highest number of participants with infection (82%),. Ascaris lumbricoides was the most frequent species with an infection rate of 34.6%, followed by hookworm infection (11.9%). All Helminth infections transmitted by the soil were of mild intensity. Being younger (10 and 11 years old) and having no access to water and toilet paper to use after defecating were risk factors for infection in the population studied. Considering the prevalence of urinary Schistosomiasis and intestinal helminthiasis in Angola and the results obtained, there is a need to take integrated and effective control measures adapted to communities in order to reduce morbidity.
