L'aire de répartition des glossines au Mali couvre environ 200 000 km2 au sud du parallèle 14 30' N et à l'ouest du méridien 4 30' O. Quatre espèces ont été signalées : deux riveraines (Glossina palpalis gambiensis et G. tachinoides) et deux de savane (G. morsitans submorsitans et G. longipalpis). G. morsitans submorsitans était répartie de manière plus ou moins continue le long des frontières avec la Côte d'Ivoire, la Guinée et le Sénégal jusqu'à la limite nord du parc national de la Boucle du Baoulé. A l'est de Bamako, la densité des populations était faible, apparemment discontinue dans les zones forestières. G. palpalis gambiensis était localisée le long de la rivière Bani, du fleuve Niger et de ses affluents, et des affluents du fleuve Sénégal (Baoulé, Bafing et Bagoé). G. tachinoides était répandue le long de la plupart des rivières et des grands cours d'eau de la partie sud-est du pays. Les prospections récentes n'ont pas revélé la présence de G. longipalpis au Mali. Après plusieurs années de sécheresse et/ou un défrichement intensif, une diminution relativement importante de l'aire de répartition des glossines dans le pays a été constatée.

RésuméLe 11 janvier 2013, le président François Hollande justifiait une intervention militaire française au Mali sur la possibilité de l'effondrement de l'État malien face à une rébellion armée dans le Nord du pays. La guerre était ainsi autorisée et expliquée par l'incapacité de l'État malien à répondre à la menace. Ces explications et analyses centrées sur les enjeux sécuritaires cachent plus qu'elles ne révèlent, notamment les objectifs ontologiques de la guerre et ses enjeux identitaires. Afin de les révéler, cet article articule l'interaction entre le déploiement de la violence internationale et la construction d'un État et d'un imaginaire politique maliens. Nous concluons que la paix au Mali en 2013 a été recherchée par la militarisation de la gouvernance démocratique, avec pour effet de consolider le modèle de gouvernance d'avant-guerre. Contrairement aux analyses axées sur la sécurité, cet article démontre que les frontières et les limites du conflit malien ne sont pas seulement territoriales, mais identitaires et idéologiques.

Abstract:

Objectives: The aims of this study was to evaluate the management of lesions in victims of the malian conflict patients admitted to Niamey hospitals. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in Niamey hospitals from January 1st, 2012 to December, 31th, 2013. Data collected included âge, sex, means of transport, topography of trauma, treatment and outcome. Results: The sample included fifty one (51) patients. All patients were male; the mean age was 29,5 years ± 9 years, ranging from 17-71 years. The age between 26 and 35 were most affected in 47% of cases (24 patients), soldiers represented 72.54% (37 patients); and civils 27.45% (14 patients). 74.50% of our patients (38) were been transported in Niamey by aircraft. The trauma concerned the members in 54.90% (28 cases), canio facial in 17.60% (9 cases), abdomen in 11.80% (6 cases). We observed only one polytrauma. 66.66% (34) of patients were injured by firearms, 29.41% (15) by accidents of roads, 3,93% by burn (2 patients). The lesions found were bone in 41.17% (21 patients), skin-muscle in 35.29% (18 patients), visceral in 9.80% (5 patients). Five patients died (9.80%). Conclusion: the internationalization of conflicts requires a reorganization of the care by involving all the nearness health structures in order to ensure adequate care and neutrality.

Abstract:

L’objectif de cette étude était de participer à la sauvegarde et à l’amélioration des performances du zébu Azawak au Mali en proposant une estimation des performances de croissance et de reproduction de cette race bovine élevée au nord du pays. Le suivi a concerné 1129 animaux dans quatre communes du cercle de Ménaka, entre novembre 2009 et février 2010. A 30 jours, les mâles pesaient en moyenne 39 ± 10 kg et les femelles 32 ± 4 kg. Aucune différence significative (p > 0,05) n’a été enregistrée entre les poids adultes des taureaux (370 ± 88 kg) et des vaches (327 ± 46 kg). L’âge au premier vêlage a été de 50 ± 11 mois avec un intervalle entre vêlages de 16 ± 4 mois. Les corrélations du poids avec le périmètre thoracique (r = 0,95) et la hauteur au garrot (r = 0,94) ont été les plus élevées. Des équations barymétriques ont été établies pour chaque catégorie animale (veau/velle, génisse/taurillon, vache/taureau) au moyen de régressions polynomiales du poids (y) sur le périmètre thoracique (x). Celles-ci pourront servir à établir une table de conversion du périmètre thoracique en poids vif ou un ruban barymétrique à l’attention des agents de l’élevage, afin de faciliter un suivi zootechnique et sanitaire des animaux sur le terrain.

Abstract:

La maladie de Newcastle constitue une des principales contraintes au développement de l’aviculture villageoise au Mali. Les mortalités sont très élevées faute d’un plan de lutte adéquat. La présente étude, réalisée de 1996 à 2000, a eu pour but d’apporter une contribution à l’étude des particularités épidémiologiques de la maladie de Newcastle en milieu rural. Quatre sites ont été choisis dans les zones agroclimatiques soudanienne Sud, soudanienne Nord, sahélienne et du delta intérieur du Niger. Un observateur chargé du suivi clinicoépidémiologique dans les élevages a été basé dans chaque site. Dans chaque cas d’éclatement de foyer, des prélèvements ont été envoyés au Laboratoire central vétérinaire pour être analysés. L’étude a permis d’établir que le taux moyen de prévalence était de 32,9 p. 100 avec une variation entre 12,1 p. 100 en zone soudanienne Sud et 38,8 p. 100 en zone sahélienne. La saison sèche froide, avec 63 p. 100 des cas, a été la période favorable à l’éclosion des foyers, comparativement à la saison pluvieuse au cours de laquelle a été enregistré un taux de 15 p. 100. Les espèces aviaires affectées ont été le poulet, la pintade et le dindon. Les taux de morbidité, de mortalité et de létalité ont varié respectivement entre 8 et 100 p. 100, entre 5,7 et 82 p. 100, et entre 10 et 100 p. 100. Trois périodes de pics ont été établies : janvier, mai et novembre. En 1998 a été enregistré le nombre le plus élevé de cas de la maladie.

La narration du rêve revêt un caractère de parole confidentielle chez les poètes touaregs qui, à la différence des auteures féminines, n’en font pas un thème poétique. Les pratiques oniriques, associées au monde des morts, des génies et à la sexualité, sont d’ordinaire perçues comme appartenant à la sphère féminine. Cependant, elles font discrètement l’objet de pratiques masculines, mais de nuit et en toute discrétion. Objective: Eggplant (Solanum melongena) is one of the important vegetables in Africa and Asia. Begomoviruses are emerging plant viruses that cause significant losses. However, there is little research on begomoviruses infecting eggplant. Therefore, this study aimed at identifying begomoviruses infecting eggplant. Methodology and results: Six samples of virus-like infected eggplants were collected in Ferkessedougou in the North of Cote d’Ivoire. The molecular tests Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Rolling Circle Amplification (RCA) were performed on the samples. One sample tested positive by PCR and RCA while the five others were negative by PCR for begomoviruses. Products from both tests were sequenced to get partial sequence of begomovirus Pepper yellow vein Mali virus (PepYVMLV) from PCR and two full genome components DNA A and DNA B of PepYVMLV from RCA. The sequences were released in Genbank. Conclusion and application of findings: This study has done the molecular characterization of the complete two genome sequence components DNA A and DNA B of Pepper yellow vein Mali on eggplant. Agro-infection of eggplants with the two components could reveal actual specific symptoms which are caused by PepYVMLV on eggplant. This could help opens possibilities of engineering resistant eggplant to PepYMLV. Les begomovirus sont des virus émergents qui causent de pertes importantes. Toutefois, il y a très peu de recherches sur les begomovirus de l’aubergine. Ainsi, cette étude visait à l’identification des begomovirus infectant l’aubergine. Méthodologie et résultats: Nous avons collecté 6 échantillons d’aubergine à Ferkéssédougou au Nord de la Côte d’Ivoire, parmi des plants d’aubergine qui présentaient des symptômes de type viral. Les tests moléculaires Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) et Rolling Circle Amplification (RCA) ont été réalisés sur les échantillons. Un échantillon a été positif à la fois à la PCR et la RCA alors que les 5 autres étaient négatifs à la PCR pour les begomovirus. Le séquençage des produits de la PCR a donné une séquence partielle du Soro et al., J. Appl. Biosci. 2021 Identification of eggplant (Solanum melongena) as a new host of begomovirus Pepper yellow vein Mali virus in Côte d’Ivoire 16154 begomovirus Pepper yellow vein Mali virus (PepYVMLV). Les produits issus de la RCA ont donné des séquences des composants ADN A et ADN B de PepYVMLV qui ont été publiées dans le Genbank. Conclusion et application des résultats: Notre étude a effectué la caractérisation moléculaire des deux sequences complètes des composantes DNA A et DNA B du génome complet du Pepper yellow vein Mali virus sur l’aubergine. L’agro-infectioon des aubergines avec les deux composantes pourrait révéler les symptômes spécifiques réels qui sont causés par le PepYVMLV sur l’aubergine. Cela pourrait ouvrir des possibilités de mise en place de variétés d’aubergines résistantes au PepYMLV. Les théories des mouvements sociaux sont de plus en plus utilisées pour étudier les groupesterroristes. Elles comportent différents niveaux d’analyse: les niveaux macro-analytique,méso-analytique et micro-analytique. Le présent article tente d’adapter ce corpusthéorique à l’étude du groupe jihadiste Al-Qaïda au Maghreb islamique (AQMI). En effet,au cours des dernières années, AQMI ne s’est pas développé au Maghreb alors que sesactivités ont augmenté exponentiellement dans la région sahélienne, au point d’ydévelopper un sanctuaire pour le groupe au nord du Mali. Le développement d’AQMI auSahel est-il alors le résultat de choix stratégiques ou celui de dynamiques internes ? Pourexpliquer le développement d’AQMI dans la région sahélo-saharienne, l’auteur proposeune grille de lecture basée sur les niveaux macro et méso-analytiques et sur leur mise endialectique. Le niveau macro-analytique met en lumière la structure des opportunitéspolitiques induisant les choix stratégiques d’AQMI et le niveau méso-analytique lesdynamiques internes du groupe. La littérature existante sur AQMI étant principalementconstituée de monographies et de notes de recherches, l’ambition de cet article est alorsde concilier théorie et recherche empirique. Ainsi le cadre d’analyse proposé est inspirédes approches de l’action collective et de la mobilisation des ressources et cherche àaméliorer la compréhension des évolutions du groupe. L’étude menée est une analysequalitative centrée sur les États algérien et malien.The theories of social movements are increasingly used to study terrorist groups and theyare characterized by three different levels of analysis: macro, meso, and micro. This article attempts to adapt this theoretical framework to the study of the jihadist group al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). Indeed, in recent years, AQIM failed to develop in North Africa while its activities have increased exponentially in the Sahel region, to the point ofdeveloping a sanctuary for the group in northern Mali. Is the development of AQIM in the Sahel the result of strategic choices or internal dynamics? To explain the development of AQIM in the Sahel-Saharan region, the author proposes a reading grid based on the macroand meso levels of analysis and their dialectical implementation. The macro-level analysis highlights the political opportunities structure inducing AQIM strategic choices and the meso-level analysis focuses on internal dynamics of the group. Seeing as existing literatureon AQIM is mainly constituted of monographs and research notes, the intent of this paperis then to reconcile theory and empirical research. Thus, the proposed framework is inspired from collective action and resource mobilization approaches and seeks to improve the understanding of the evolution of the group. The study is a qualitative analysis focusingon the Algerian and Malian States.

Abstract:

Nitric oxide reduction in Ralstonia eutropha H16 is catalysed by the quinol-dependent NO reductase NorB. norB and the adjacent norA form an operon that is controlled by the σ54-dependent transcriptional activator NorR in response to NO. A NorR derivative containing MalE in place of the N-terminal domain binds to a 73 bp region upstream of norA that includes three copies of the putative upstream activator sequence GGT-(N7)-ACC. Mutations altering individual bases of this sequence resulted in an 80–90% decrease in transcriptional activation by wild-type NorR. Similar motifs are present in several proteobacteria upstream of genes encoding proteins of NO metabolism. The N-terminal domain of NorR contains a GAF module and is hypothesized to interact with a signal molecule. A NorR derivative lacking this domain activates the norAB promoter constitutively. Amino acid exchanges within the GAF module identified a cysteine residue that is essential for promoter activation by NorR. Signal sensing by NorR is negatively modulated by the iron-containing protein NorA.

ABSTRACT The σ54-dependent regulator NorR activates transcription of target genes in response to nitric oxide (NO) or NO-generating agents. In Ralstonia eutropha H16, NorR activates transcription of the dicistronic norAB operon that encodes NorA, a protein of unknown function, and NorB, a nitric oxide reductase. A constitutively activating NorR derivative (NorR′), in which the N-terminal signaling domain was replaced by MalE, specifically bound to the norAB upstream region as revealed by gel retardation analysis. Within a 73-bp DNA segment protected by MalE-NorR′ in a DNase I footprint assay, three conserved inverted repeats, GGT-(N7)-ACC (where N is any base), that we consider to be NorR-binding boxes were identified. Mutations altering the spacing or the base sequence of these repeats resulted in an 80 to 90% decrease of transcriptional activation by wild-type NorR. Genome database analyses demonstrate that the GT-(N7)-AC core of the inverted repeat is found in several proteobacteria upstream of gene loci encoding proteins of nitric oxide metabolism, including nitric oxide reductase (NorB), flavorubredoxin (NorV), NO dioxygenase (Hmp), and hybrid cluster protein (Hcp).

Abstract:

Monkey pox is a rare viral zoonotic disease of which clinical manifestations are similar to smallpox, it is transmitted to humans by direct contact with the body of an infected animal, but the transmission can also be human-to-human. The Democratic Republic of Congo is the most endemic country in the world where almost all provinces are affected by this scourge. However, in the administrative configuration currently, monkey pox has not been detected in Nord Ubangi province yet. This cross-sectional study focuses on three cases of patients diagnosed with monkey pox virus at Businga General Hospital in Nord Ubangi province. The findings show that all the three patients were male with a primary education level and their average age was 9±3.46 years. They had some epidemiological characteristics specific to monkey pox, including high fevers, rashes, pruritus and abdominal pain. After two weeks of symptomatic treatment, each patient was able to get out without further complications. For the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the cases of Monkey pox in Nord Ubangi Province.

Abstract:

Leucine (LEU) kinetics were assessed using a primed-continuous infusion of L-[1-14C]LEU in normal overnight-fasted male volunteers during a basal period and an experimental period where insulin (INS) was infused at either 0.6, 1.2, 2.5, 5.0, 10, or 20 mU.kg-1.min-1 with euglycemia maintained. Two protocols were used: 1) subjects were allowed to develop hypoaminoacidemia or 2) plasma essential amino acids (AA) were maintained near basal levels by frequently monitoring plasma LEU in conjunction with variable infusions of an AA solution (LEU infused = 0.41, 0.72, 0.93, 1.03, 1.31, and 1.35 mumol.kg-1.min-1 at escalating INS doses, respectively). Basal rates of LEU appearance (Ra), nonoxidative disappearance (NORd) and oxidative disappearance (OXRd) were similar in both protocols (means = 1.74, 1.40, and 0.36 mumol.kg-1.min-1, respectively). INS infusions without AA resulted in a progressive decrement in LEU Ra (14 to 45%), NORd (16-41%), and OXRd (3-56%) compared with basal values. The infusion of AA resulted in an additional reduction in endogenous Ra (P less than 0.01; approximately 100% suppression achieved at plasma INS greater than 1,000 microU/ml) and a blunting of NORd reduction (P less than 0.05) at each dose of INS. Observed differences in INS's suppression of LEU Ra between the two protocols suggests the existence of a component of whole body proteolysis that is highly dependent on circulating plasma AA. Therefore, hypoaminoacidemia associated with INS treatment would appear to blunt the responsiveness of INS's suppression of protein breakdown and in the presence of near basal plasma AA, proteolytic suppression by INS is enhanced.

Abstract Wikipedia is a multilingual, Internet-based, free, wiki-encyclopaedia that is created by its own users. The aim of the present article is to let users’ descriptions of their impressions and experiences of Wikipedia increase our understanding of the function and dynamics of this collaboratively shaped wiki-encyclopaedia. Qualitative, structured interviews concerning users, and the creation and use of Wikipedia were carried out via e-mail with six male respondents – administrators at the Swedish Wikipedia – during September and October, 2006. The results focus on the following themes: I. Passive and active users; II. Formal and informal tasks; III. Common and personal visions; IV. Working together; V. The origins and creation of articles; VI. Contents and quality; VII. Decisions and interventions; VIII. Encyclopaedic ambitions. The discussion deals with the approach of this encyclopaedic phenomenon, focusing on its “unfinishedness”, its development in different directions, and the social regulation that is implied and involved. Wikipedia is a product of our time, having a powerful vision and engagement, and it should therefore be interpreted and considered on its own terms.

Abstract:

Objective: describe the epidemiological, diagnostic aspects and therapeutic approaches at Bembereke in northern Benin. Patients and methods: all victims of abdominal trauma received in the department of surgery between 1 st January 2010 and 30 July 2013 and with complete records were included in this retrospective study. Results: The abdominal trauma accounted for 1.1% of hospitalization and 10% of abdominal emergencies. The average age of patients was 28.04 ± 22.25 years with extremes of 02 and 67 years. The sex ratio equaled to 7.17. Half of the patients were children under 15 years. The first three circumstances abdominal trauma was road traffic accidents 31 (31.63%) cases, animal aggression 27 (27.55%) cases and falls from a tree 14 (14,29%) cases. Contusions were found in 73 (74.50%) cases and wounds in 25 (25.50%) cases. Fifty four (55.10%) laparotomy were performed. The rate of white laparotomy is 5.55% with 3 cases. The spleen was the most affected organ (15%) followed by small bowel (13%). Morbidity was 8.16% dominated by parietal suppuration. The rate of mortality was 2.04%. Mean hospital stay was 10.7 days. Conclusion: abdominal trauma interested young adult male in northern Benin. Road traffic accidents and animal injuries were the leading causes
