Abstract:
As we know from many publications, it is worth using Lean Management in modern enterprises. On the other hand, as scientists and practitioners emphasise, developing an appropriate organisational culture is necessary to obtain the proper results as part of Lean Management. Therefore, in parallel with the organisational changes related to implementing the Lean concept in the enterprise, various activities should be carried out to change the organisational culture into a culture favourable to Lean. There are many studies on how to change an organisation's culture, although it takes much work. Also, many publication threads in the recent period concern the features of the Lean organisational culture (the culture of a lean organisation) or the potential ways of creating this culture. However, knowledge on this subject still needs to be improved, especially from the point of view of management practice. Therefore, the main purpose of this article is to present basic information on the ways of shaping Lean organizational cultures in enterprises in Poland, with particular emphasis on manufacturing companies, based on literature studies and the results of empirical research carried out as part of the doctoral dissertation of one of the authors. The survey was conducted in 2022, using the CAWI method, on a sample of 55 companies. The presented results can be a valuable contribution to understanding the phenomenon of creating a Lean culture in enterprises in Poland. They can be also the basis for further research or analysis in this area.

Abstract:
Four decades ago, Whyte (1956), described how a new human expression had become universally evident. This was the notion of the ‘Organisation Man’, an early corporate culture characterised by the middle ranks of managers in large organisations, who were subject to a ‘social ethic’. Under the original conception gender was not an issue. However, in a contemporary view of human resource management (HRM) and corporate culture, it has become crucial to understanding both notions of competitive advantage, and the thesis and influence of commitment in the literature and the workplace. This article deals with some issues of women and the organisation man/corporate culture thesis. Unlike many studies (e.g. Fletcher et al, 1993), there is a need to make a distinction between women and men concerning their perceptions and roles. A need to clarify the changes that have taken place in relation to the corporate culture thesis. The analysis in this paper is based on initial research material. It deals with the above issues in relation to gender in contemporary society, asking as it does, if the notion of corporate culture has changed to one where both men and women are implicated in the project at a full, emotional level.

Yeganegy, Roxanne. "The politics of participation : Burning Man and British festival culture." Thesis, University of Leeds, 2012. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/6759/.

Full text
Abstract:
Numerous industry reports and publications have acknowledged the dramatic transformation of the British music festival industry over the last two decades, with the emergence of what has been described as a new 'boutique' model in festival production. Using a selection of boutique events, this study reveals a nexus of British events culturally aligned with the 'No Spectators' ethos of Nevada's Burning Man. How far it is possible to claim that the politics of Burning Man has transformed participation at festivals in Britain, is a question central to this investigation. Documenting the emergence of a transatlantic politics of participation, this study explores the relationship between Nevada's Burning Man and British festival culture. Firstly, a theoretical chapter surveys literature from interdisciplinary fields, identifying concepts previously utilized in the interpretation of festival and carnival forms. This analysis exposes the differences in audience engagement implied by contrasting carnival types, which form key conceptual frameworks throughout the investigation. Following this preliminary, a discussion of the concert-model event reveals the impetus for 'No Spectators' and critiques uniform interpretations of festival audiences as 'active'. Through the discussion of its milieu, production values and interpretive discourses, an examination of Burning Man exposes a fusion ofparticipative precept and praxis. Retaining a set of indicators for extreme participation, a detailed case study investigation of Cambridgeshire's Secret Garden Party exemplifies an attempt at achieving a similar synthesis. The idealizing discourse of Secret Garden Party is presented as a form of positioning that, despite producing a broader posture of authenticity that rejects commoditization and sponsorship, is subordinated by commercial necessity. Underlining Britain's inevitable de-radicalization of 'No Spectators', these findings are contextualized by a critical examination of the contemporary festival industry and boutique sector, concluding with an action-research-based analysis of the author's own festival, Raisetheroof. The assumption that the participative doctrine of Burning Man is active beyond the boundaries of its own official international network is confirmed by the investigation. The placement of this event as exclusively responsible for the reproduction of 'N 0 Spectators' outside of Secret Garden Party is, however, presented as problematic. This study concludes by recognizing a synergy of demographic, economic and cultural factors responsible both for the emergence of the boutique festival industry, and the idealization of participation discernable within it.

Daggett, Matthew. "The Ill Man: An Exploration of Chronic Illness Disclosure within Masculine Culture." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2019. https://dc.etsu.edu/etd/3567.

Abstract:
Masculine culture is known for teaching men to be strong, independent, and in control; however, the presence of chronic illness creates challenges for men when attempting to uphold a dominant masculine identity and make disclosure decisions about sharing illness information. This study explores the intersection between illness related self-disclosure and masculine culture. Utilizing qualitative methods, it examines the challenges chronically ill men face when making decisions about self-disclosure. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five men (N=5) who have one or more chronic illnesses. Transcripts were analyzed and coded using grounded theory to identify emergent themes. The analysis revealed three primary themes and several secondary and tertiary themes. The three primary themes are: 1) participant expression of masculine culture; 2) communication challenges; and 3) disclosure strategies. Participants’ accounts of their experiences with living with chronic illness are positioned within literature on chronic illnesses, self-disclosure, and masculine culture.

Abstract:
In this bachelor essay we´ve made an participant observation on a website where sexual services are for sale. This website contains a forum where sexbuyers and sexsellers discuss their thoughts about sex and purchase of sexual services. Sexbuyers often express themselves as victims because of their own extreme sexual cravings. They argue that as long as there is sexual services for sale, there is going to be a demand to buy them. We notice that there is an acceptance for sexbuyers to have an temporary sexual relation in exchange for money. We notice in our studies that these so called “intemperated horny men” tend to protect one another. We consider, in contrast to the sexbuyers, that as long as there is an existing “craving” for sexual services, the phenomenon of sexual trafficking will continue. Much because many victims of sexual trafficking are being sold as if it was by their own free will. Because of this, we will in this bachelor essay problematize sexual trafficking as a consequence of sexbuyers actions. We as mediaproducers would like to, through pictures, shed light on the consequences of sexual trafficking and at the same time emphasize this through provocative internet activism.

Abstract:
In the history of culture, one of the most important periods in the study of the problem of the nature and formation of the perfect man was the historical stratum of medieval Islamic culture, in which the Sufi discourse played an important role. Sufism as a religious and mystical direction in Islam is actualized in the light of the study of the classical cultural heritage of the peoples of the East and modern socio-cultural processes. Sufism played a significant role in the development of medieval Islamic culture and made its unique contribution to the concept of the perfect man. The Sufi doctrine is based on the aspiration to unity with the Divine through personal mystical experience and spiritual practices that help to purify the soul. Sufi thinkers such as Rumi, Ibn Arabi, and Al-Ghazali, Akhmet Yassawi saw perfection in the harmony between knowledge and heart, where a person finds inner peace and insight through love for God and constant self-improvement. For them, the perfect man was presented as an ideal combining both spiritual and moral perfection, which makes Sufism particularly significant for study in the context of both classical and modern Oriental heritage. Sufism has a significant impact on the history of art and has influenced various art forms: literature, painting, architecture and music.

Abstract:
The intricate interplay between fashion and culture has been a subject of extensive scholarly inquiry. This research delves into the perceptions and attitudes of Generation Z, a cohort significantly shaped by the pervasive influence of online media. Exposed to a complex tapestry of societal trends, including the rise of neo-conservatism and the growing LGBTQIA+ rights movement, Generation Z presents a unique lens through which to examine not only contemporary fashion and culture but, more important, ability and inclination of future generations for critical thinking. This generations inclination to trust online influencers without critical analysis, coupled with their apparent disengagement from traditional political processes, makes them important intriguing subject of study. This preliminary research presents the findings of a survey conducted among 708 students of engineering, journalism, and kinesiology. The aim of this study is to provide a foundational understanding of the complex relationship between fashion, culture, and generational attitudes, paving the way for more in-depth future investigations. The results indicate that clothes (fashion elements) do seem to make an impression of a woman.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the topical issue of environmental education as a holistic cultural phenomenon in the context of the professional training of future teachers. Environmental education is considered as a multifaceted process that integrates ecological knowledge with cultural, social, and ethical aspects of the interaction between man and nature. The methodological basis of the study was based on the integration of three scientific approaches to the consideration of environmental education as a holistic cultural phenomenon in the professional training of future teachers, namely: cultural approach, which allowed to consider environmental education as a holistic cultural phenomenon and its impact on the formation of the general pedagogical culture of the future teacher; systemic approach, which provided a comprehensive study of environmental education, taking into account the interrelationships between the various components of the educational process; competency-based approach, which focuses on the formation of professional competencies of future teachers, guaranteeing a practical orientation in training specialists capable of solving environmental problems in their professional activities. The article presents the author's definitions of the concepts of " environmental education as a holistic cultural phenomenon", " environmental culture of the future teacher" and " environmental educational project". Descriptions are provided for the concepts of innovative projects for the development of environmental education and culture, implemented in pedagogical educational institutions of the Kirovograd region: "Green Campus," "Virtual Ecological Laboratory," "Eco-locations of the City of Kropyvnytskyi," "EcoArt," "Mini-farm." Recommendations are formulated for improving environmental education within the framework of the professional training of future teachers, including: compiling an "ecological portfolio of a young teacher", creating a virtual information space of ecological didactics, introducing ecological mentoring and introducing a special course "Ecological Culture". Conclusions have been drawn that hold theoretical and practical significance for the development of environmental education and culture of future teachers in the context of European integration processes in Ukraine.

Abstract:

Yaremchuk, Olesya. TRAVEL ANTHROPOLOGY IN JOURNALISM: HISTORY AND PRACTICAL METHODS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.49.11069.

Full text
Abstract:
Our study’s main object is travel anthropology, the branch of science that studies the history and nature of man, socio-cultural space, social relations, and structures by gathering information during short and long journeys. The publication aims to research the theoretical foundations and genesis of travel anthropology, outline its fundamental principles, and highlight interaction with related sciences. The article’s defining objectives are the analysis of the synthesis of fundamental research approaches in travel anthropology and their implementation in journalism. When we analyze what methods are used by modern authors, also called «cultural observers», we can return to the localization strategy, namely the centering of the culture around a particular place, village, or another spatial object. It is about the participants-observers and how the workplace is limited in space and time and the broader concept of fieldwork. Some disciplinary practices are confused with today’s complex, interactive cultural conjunctures, leading us to think of a laboratory of controlled observations. Indeed, disciplinary approaches have changed since Malinowski’s time. Based on the experience of fieldwork of Svitlana Aleksievich, Katarzyna Kwiatkowska-Moskalewicz, or Malgorzata Reimer, we can conclude that in modern journalism, where the tools of travel anthropology are used, the practical methods of complexity, reflexivity, principles of openness, and semiotics are decisive. Their authors implement both for stable localization and for a prevailing transition.

Zhytaryuk, Maryan. UKRAINIAN JOURNALISM IN GREAT BRITAIN. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11115.

Full text
Abstract:
Professor M. Zhytaryuk’s review is about a book scientific novelty – a monograph by Professor M. Tymoshyk «Ukrainian journalism in the diaspora: Great Britain. Monograph. K.: Our culture and science, 2020. 500 p. – il., Them. pok., resume English, German, Polish.». Well-known scientist and journalism critic, Professor M. S. Tymoshyk, wrote a thorough work, which, in terms of content, is a combination of a monograph, a textbook and a scientific essay. This book can be useful for both students and practicing journalists or anyone interested in the history of the Ukrainian diaspora, Ukrainian journalism and Ukrainian culture. The author dedicated his work to Stepan Yarmus from Winnipeg, Canada – archpriest, journalist, editor, professor. As the epigraph to the book were taken the words of Ivan Bagryany: «Our press, born under the sword of Damocles of repatriation», not only survived and survived to this day, but also showed a brilliant ability to grow and develop. It was shown that beggars that had come to the West without money at heart can and know how to act so organized. It was also an example of how a modern «enbolshevist» and «denationalized» by the occupier man person is capable of a combined mass action».

Sutton, Heather, and Lucciana Álvarez. How Safe Are Caribbean Homes for Women and Children?: Attitudes toward Intimate Partner Violence and Corporal Punishment. Inter-American Development Bank, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0008461.

Full text
Abstract:
This policy brief uses data from the 2014/2015 Latin American Public Opinion Project survey to examine attitudes toward intimate partner violence and child physical discipline in six Caribbean countries. Although Latin America has a reputation for a particularly macho culture, Caribbean adults were 10.8 percent more likely to tolerate a man beating his wife if she neglects the household chores and 5.7 percent more likely to if she is unfaithful. Characteristics of those who were more tolerant of intimate partner violence included being lower income, younger, resident of a rural area, and not completing secondary education. Similarly, those who say it is necessary to physically punish children in the Caribbean - and those who experienced physical punishment frequently themselves - were more prevalent than in Latin American countries. Experiencing frequent physical punishment during childhood was found to be a statistically significant correlate of male tolerance of intimate partner violence after controlling for other individual characteristics. Policy options to prevent intimate partner violence and childhood violence are examined.

Kamma, Dr Prudhvi Srujan, and Dr Aishwarya Badugu. AN UNUSUAL PRESENTATION OF EXTRAPULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS AS FEVER WITH PANCYTOPENIA: A CASE REPORT. World Wide Journals, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.36106/ijar/5105754.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: In the developing countries, tuberculosis is a signicant health issue. The vague presentation causes extrapulmonary tuberculosis to take longer to be diagnosed. Pancytopenia is one of the haematological symptoms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Pancytopenia may result from hypersplenism, maturation arrest, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or inltration of the bone marrow by caseating or noncaseating granulomas causing reversible or irreversible brosis. We Case presentation: report a case of a 70 year-old man who presented with pyrexia of unknown origin with signicant loss of weight and loss of appetite. He had pallor with mild hepatosplenomegaly. He had high inammatory markers with pancytopenia in a peripheral blood smear. His chest radiograph was normal, and he had a negative Mantoux. The common risk factors such as diabetes, human immunodeciency virus (HIV) infection, chronic kidney disease, malnutrition, and immunosuppressant therapy which might contribute him to be vulnerable to TB, were not found. The denite diagnosis of disseminated tuberculosis was made on the basis of caseating tuberculous granulomas in the bone marrow. Due to its Conclusions: ambiguous and nonspecic presentation, widespread TB continues to be difcult to diagnose. Particularly in places where tuberculosis is endemic, the possibility of disseminated tuberculosis should be taken into account in cases of pyrexia of unknown origin with peripheral cytopenia. In such cases, it is crucial to perform a bone marrow culture and histopathological examination simultaneously because ndings of routine diagnostics like chest radiography or Mantoux tests may be negative.

Khomenko, Tetiana, та Yuriy Kolisnyk. Втрати української культури у російсько-українській війні: культурно-інформаційний спротив. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2023.52-53.11749.

Abstract:
The authors explored the activity of mass media and cultural organizations aimed at clarification of the current problematic issue – preservation of Ukrainian cultural heritage under the conditions of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. The authors emphasize that occupants not only destroy historic buildings, i.e. material objects, but also steal art values, destroy library and archive funds; their actions are aimed at destruction of our spirituality, identity and history. It is pointed out that there are the main streams in the work of journalists, experts, and culture figures, namely: fixation of losses, propaganda of the Ukrainian culture in the world, expert evaluation of the restitution possibilities, and filling of the culture material with patriotic sense. The full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022 led to the numerous loss of life, ruination of the military, civil and infrastructure objects. But the state-aggressor destroys and robs our culture in this war. Since the beginning of the war mass media have been actively informing about the situation in the regions, which happened to be at the line of the Russian troops attack. The information was in particular about the fact that different educational establishments, libraries and their funds, museums with valuable collections, theatres, religious buildings and historic buildings had been ruined. To tell the truth the information was incomplete due to the limited opportunities to monitor the situation. However, later it has been systematized. The work of journalists and experts contributed to this since they stated the criminal acts of Russia, informing about the ruination facts of historic, sacral, cultural monuments, devastation of many museum collections, destruction of library and archive funds. Digitalization of the Russian war crimes against Ukrainian culture became one more important work aimed at preservation of the Ukrainian cultural heritage. It was done by means of interactive maps of the Ukrainian cultural losses and it enables documenting crimes of the occupant army and spreading this information at the international level. Key words: culture, cultural front, cultural losses, cultural values, cultural heritage, war, media.

Kelly, Luke. Lessons Learned on Cultural Heritage Protection in Conflict and Protracted Crisis. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/k4d.2021.068.

Full text
Abstract:
This rapid review examines evidence on the lessons learned from initiatives aimed at embedding better understanding of cultural heritage protection within international monitoring, reporting and response efforts in conflict and protracted crisis. The report uses the terms cultural property and cultural heritage interchangeably. Since the signing of the Hague Treaty in 1954, there has bee a shift from 'cultural property' to 'cultural heritage'. Culture is seen less as 'property' and more in terms of 'ways of life'. However, in much of the literature and for the purposes of this review, cultural property and cultural heritage are used interchangeably. Tangible and intangible cultural heritage incorporates many things, from buildings of globally recognised aesthetic and historic value to places or practices important to a particular community or group. Heritage protection can be supported through a number of frameworks international humanitarian law, human rights law, and peacebuilding, in addition to being supported through networks of the cultural and heritage professions. The report briefly outlines some of the main international legal instruments and approaches involved in cultural heritage protection in section 2. Cultural heritage protection is carried out by national cultural heritage professionals, international bodies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as citizens. States and intergovernmental organisations may support cultural heritage protection, either bilaterally or by supporting international organisations. The armed forces may also include the protection of cultural heritage in some operations in line with their obligations under international law. In the third section, this report outlines broad lessons on the institutional capacity and politics underpinning cultural protection work (e.g. the strength of legal protections; institutional mandates; production and deployment of knowledge; networks of interested parties); the different approaches were taken; the efficacy of different approaches; and the interface between international and local approaches to heritage protection.

Abstract:
There is at least one cultural centre in every municipality in Denmark – in the vast majority of municipalities, many more. This means that cultural centres are probably the most widespread form of cultural institution in Denmark. So, it is surprising that there is a lack of knowledge about them. This report provides insight into a central, yet underexposed area of cultural life in Denmark. The report is part of the DELTAG (English: ‘Participate’) project (2019-23), funded by the Nordea Foundation and initiated by the Culture Centres in Denmark association and Aarhus University.
