Numerous facilities in the non-nuclear sector in Belgium (e.g. in the non-radioactive waste processing and management sector and in the metal recycling sector) have been equipped with measuring ports for detecting radioactive substances. These measuring ports prevent radioactive sources or radioactive contamination from ending up in the material fluxes treated by the sectors concerned. They thus play an important part in the protection of the workers and the people living in the neighbourhood of the facilities, as well as in the protection of the population and the environment in general. The capital structure of a company represents the way in which companies finance their needs. Currently, there is no unifying determining the selection between debt and equity. Existing scientific knowledge does not lead to the creation of a unified theory of capital structure, mainly because of the complexity and number of factors that influence these decisions. Considering the specifics of forest enterprises, including from the point of view of financial management, this problem is even more complex. The article analyses the internal and external factors that influence the decision-making ab

Financing the defence system determines the size of the gross domestic product, as a product of total socio-economic activity. This conclusion logically concludes, having in mind the fact that the defence system is part of the social system and that it forms a segment of the socio-economic structure, and hence the source of its financing must be stimulated from the source of financing the overall social reproduction. The aim of the paper is to determine the aspects of budgetary funds treatment in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces through systematic analysis of the financing

This report was commissioned by the Natural Disasters Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue. This report constitutes Phase 2 of this project. While the first phase of the study discusses the components of a national system, the second focuses on instruments for financing reconstruction after a disaster. The research compares centralized, government-directed management systems with those that are localized and decentralized, and also analyzes the factors affecting the financial and political stability of alternative approaches. This technical paper analyzes the potential practical application of financial instruments for natural hazard risk finance and transfer in Latin America. The study first presents an overview of the role of financing and risk transfer in disaster risk management. It then investigates the sources of natural hazard risk and presents use of financial instruments for managing risk for the cases of Chile, El Salvador and Peru. The document also discusses the role donors and multilateral development banks should have in supporting disaster risk financing in the region. This paper was discussed at a D

Cambodian higher education finance is archaic and inappropriate for creating a robust and responsive higher education system. The customary practice of line item budgeting is also obsolete. Many countries in the region have long moved towards block grants and some have recently incorporated performance-based funding. In Cambodia, bureaucratic financial management has created many loopholes and obstacles, including slow disbursement of funds, excessive and rigid regulation, and ineffective and efficient use of resources. However, any move towards new funding modalities must be aligned with effo

However, the importance of public financial management (PFM) and governance systems in development is well established and seen as a pre-requisite for economic g

This rapid review provides a summary of the evidence on the taxation and public financial management of mining revenues in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This is a very complex topic, with a large and growing literature base, a huge interest by donors, non-governmental organisations and businesses, with some conflicting information at times. In particular, specific data on provincial budgets and spending was not identified during this review. No specific information on public financial management in either of these provinces was identified during the course of this review. Given the b
