Abstract:
Performance appraisal is claimed to be the only mechanism for differentiating performance among managers in the organization. The differences that are supposed to be taken into account are their skills, knowledge, physical abilities, responsibilities and attitudes that should be appraised so that everyone will have an equal and fair share of rewards in relation to their contribution to the organization. These differences should be recognized either through pay, promotion or other intrinsic rewards as a basis toward the establishment of fairness and equity in the organization. Organization should also realize that none of their managers will give the same level of contribution and loyalty to the organization. Some have strengths in certain aspects but are weak in other aspects of work. Perhaps, it is organizational responsibility to understand the internal career profiles such as motives, values and attitudes and learn to use these differences in career orientation for their benefit. In short, performance appraisal system should accommodate different types of managers, simultaneously maximizing their strengths, potentials and talents that they have.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to create a managerial framework for selecting the most effective bank advertisement appeal for different financial services. Financial services were classified based on the FCB grid: high/low involvement and think/feel decision. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected from 62 banks with content analysis based on 1,514 unique print advertisements, published between 2006 and 2014 in national newspapers in Romania and Hungary. The ads were coded, based on Pollay’s appeals, and then a cluster analysis was performed to identify appeal and financial service clusters. Findings The results revealed ten bank-specific appeals which can be used for advertising four different banking services categories. All type of savings and loans for B2B are advertised with quality appeals (safety, productivity); current account and card, personal/home loans are advertised with financial value appeals (convenient, cheap); corporate branding with emotional appeals (affiliation, distinctive, enjoyment); and services with mixed appeals. Research limitations/implications The study could be extended for different target market, creative strategy, other media and more countries. Practical implications The paper provides guidelines on how the FCB grid could be extended for bank services to recommend specific appeals for each category. Originality/value The financial service literature proposes guidelines regarding bank advertisements. However, the recommended advertisement appeals were not linked to different bank services. This paper creates a comprehensive managerial framework in order to match the bank’s specific appeals with different bank services.

Abstract:
Abstract The organizational development assume the unconditional support of the leadership. Over time, the researchers have developed four major behavioural theories of leadership: the trait theory, behavioural theory of leadership, situational leadership theory and integrative leadership theory. These focus on the work of leaders, what they do, what they say and what they communicate across organizational boundaries. Over time, these theories have been adapted, developed and improved according to the main objectives of the organization and each leader. The researchers in the field were those who tried to find and identify the best style of leadership, regardless of the situation they might encounter in the course of their activities. Robert Blake and Jane Mouton are among those who built the management grid. They have published more than forty articles and books that describe their theory. This management network helps to think about a manager’s leadership style and its effects on the productivity and motivation of his team. The position of a leader can be anywhere in the network, depending on the relative importance gives to the people and to the results. On the one hand, this paper analyzes the organizational development from the perspective of management, and on the other hand, after presenting the necessary explanations related to the theoretical part of the grid exemplified above, a concrete example of this grid with application in a private organization will be presented. So, the study pursued the managerial grid application and analysis on a general manager in a certified vocational training entity (AS Financial Markets Sibiu), whose managerial style could be established after a test in which he answered at 20 questions.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to expand the theory of organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) to include “exterior” behaviours. By advancing the work of Blake and Mouton (1964) and remapping the performance/OCB dimensions offered in the historical literature, a new holistic model of organisational performance is proposed. As a further step, a decision-making tool is proposed for managerial decision-making and to help predict employee performance. Design/methodology/approach The paper adopts a critical review and conceptual approach to explore historical OCB theories and task performance (TP) taxonomies. It then used Blake and Mouton’s managerial grid to construct a contemporary conceptual tool for managerial decision-making. Findings Despite the performance literature not lacking in quantity, a few of such research have led to a pragmatic managerial tool. The review reveals several confusions regarding the accurate classification of what actually constitutes OCB and what constitutes TP – this gap is filled by the introduction of the OCB model for managerial decision-making (OMMD). Research limitations/implications The current work expands our thinking on OCBs that can occur outside the organisation. These exterior behaviours can influence the organisation’s performance and must be managed just like any other performance metric. The OMMD, primarily based on OCB and TP, provides an initial framework for exploring different typologies of employees. Despite being based on several cogent performance literatures, the proposals have not been tested empirically. Practical implications Like the Blake and Mouton model, the new OMMD can be useful in estimating the proportions of employee OCBs and TP. Social implications Culture and social exchange theory can be seen as playing a role in separating TP from OCB. Originality/value This study extends the work of Bateman and Organ (1983) by suggesting that some work behaviours can occur outside the organisation. Besides, a decision-making proposal is offered based on the managerial grid framework (Blake and Mouton, 1964).

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to validate the number and order of leadership roles and identify the personality traits which trigger the choice of leadership roles.Design/methodology/approachA survey addressing classification and measurement questions in each of the competing values framework (CVF) quadrants was administered to a sample of managerial leaders across organizations. Multidimensional scaling representing the underlying CVF dimensions in a spatial arrangement was conducted with input derived from LISREL, which was also used to test the degree‐of‐fit between the CVF roles and quadrants as well as to examine the relationships between personality traits and leadership roles.FindingsThe results produced a remarkable synthesis of two separate fields of study within a single competing quadrants grid confirming the causal paths from traits to the compressed CVF latent variables.Research limitations/implicationsThis study raises important questions about the causal effects of personality traits and situational contingencies on the choice of leadership roles.Practical implicationsThe new awareness of precursors to CVF roles calls for significantly shifting the focus of leadership training and education efforts. Leadership development strategies designed to improve current managerial strengths must also target specific weaknesses and their psychological underpinnings.Originality/valueThe paper demonstrates the efficacy of the CVF and at the same time draws more robust conclusions about how traits affect the choice of leadership roles, how they influence the extent of managerial effectiveness and to what extent managerial choice of roles is conscious or just a stimulus response.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to control the ratio of programs of different genres whenforming the broadcast grid in order to increase and maintain the rating of a channel. In themultichannel environment, television rating controls consist of selecting content, the ratings ofwhich are completely restored after advertising. The hybrid approach to rule set refinement basedon fuzzy relational calculus simplifies the process of expert recommendation systems construction.By analogy with the problem of the inverted pendulum control, the managerial actions aim to retainthe balance between the fuzzy demand and supply. The increase or decrease trends of the demandand supply are described by primary fuzzy relations. The rule-based solutions of fuzzy relationalequations connect significance measures of the primary fuzzy terms. Program set refinement bysolving fuzzy relational equations allows avoiding procedures of content-based selective filtering. The solution set generation corresponds to the granulation of television time, where each solutionrepresents the time slot and the granulated rating of the content. In automated media planning, generation of the weekly TV program in the form of the granular solution provides the decrease oftime needed for the programming of the channel broadcast grid.

Abstract:
Sustainability in power supply chain has been supported by emission reduction of coal-fired power generation and increasing renewable energy power generation. Under the power market reform of direct power purchase transactions, this paper focuses on the channel selection and emission reduction decisions of power supply chain. From the theoretical perspective, this paper develops the decision-making models of centralized and decentralized power supply chain, which consist of one renewable energy power generation enterprise, one coal-fired power plant and one power grid enterprise. The optimal strategies of power quantities and profits for power supply chain members and their corresponding numerical experiments are analyzed in different cases. The results show that there are qA1Nc*<qA1Lc* for renewable energy power generation enterprise A, qB1Nc*>qB1Lc* and eBNc*>eBLc* for coal-fired power plant B, which indicate that the direct power purchase channel in the centralized scenario is conducive to promoting the transaction quantity of renewable energy power generation, as well as the on-grid power quantity and emission reduction efforts of coal-fired power plant B. Furthermore, the profit of whole power supply chain could be enhanced by the increasing on-grid power preference coefficient of coal-fired power generation, subsidy for renewable energy power generation and preference coefficient for clean production, and by the decreasing emission reduction cost coefficient of coal-fired power plant. Additionally, the emission reduction effort of coal-fired power plant is positively relevant with preference coefficient for clean production, whereas it is negatively relevant with power grid wheeling charge, emission reduction cost coefficient and subsidy for renewable energy power generation. Our findings can provide useful managerial insights for policymakers and enterprises in the sustainability of power supply chain.

Abstract:
This study presents financial evaluation of 18 kW solar photovoltaic powered Baidi Micro Grid implemented by Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) in Dubung village, Rising Gaupalika, Tanahun district of Nepal. The grid is built and is operational under Baidi Micro Grid Pvt. Ltd, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established under “Pro-Poor Public Private Partnership (5P)” concept supported by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) & International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). It is pilot project under 5P concept in Nepal. People from Dubung and Mauribas village as well as Saral Urja Nepal Pvt Ltd (SUN) jointly owns the SPV strengthening not only technical, managerial and financial support but also the community participation and engagement in all decision making process. The total cost of the project is NPR 13,395,000.00 at 2015 AD. The grant for the project was of value NPR 11,295,000.00 from AEPC, IFAD and UNESCAP and remaining was equity of SUN. The net present value of NPR -10,978,605.76 is obtained at 3% discount rate due to unavoidable replacement cost of batteries, charge controllers, inverters and high initial investment without the consideration of the grant amount. Whereas, with 84.32% utilization of available grant, the NPV worth of NPR 384,394.22 is obtained for the project. In breakeven analysis, a breakeven point of the project is obtained at 81.87% utilization of the grant. Without grant, project like Baidi Micro Grid will not sustain. In addition, average unit cost of electricity is found to be NPR 37.08 but it varied from NPR 16.67 to NPR 80.81. Household consuming more electricity has to pay less unit cost of electricity whereas household consuming less electricity had to pay higher unit cost of electricity.

AbstractProduct Service Systems (PSS) are increasingly complex and collaborative. For instance, manufacturing companies, service providers, and other companies collaborate and jointly develop and operate a PSS (ex: smart grid), where its constituent elements are managed and operated independently. Managerial independence and operational independence are commonly considered key characteristics of a System of Systems (SoS). Hence, a collaborative PSS exhibits System of Systems (SoSs) characteristics. These systems have previously been introduced as Product Service Systems of Systems (PSSoSs). In this paper, we propose to identify relevant uncertainties in the PSSoS design process. For this purpose, we go beyond the PSSoS concept definition and propose a comprehensive framework for PSS and PSSoS characterization. Moreover, based on both a literature review and an industrial diagnosis, we identify PSSoSs-specific design uncertainties.

Abstract:
Abstract This article proposes to work with the theoretical concept of creativity management by promoting a reflection defined by encouraging work relationships that involve creative individuals and creative leadership in attitudes that foster a creative culture. This analysis considers creativity as a precursor of innovation and evaluates it as a universe capable of improving organizational competitiveness, since, creativity is understood as a social phenomenon. The discussion in this article addresses conditions and characteristics related to the individual, to leadership and culture. Creativity management is a component of a managerial grid focused on interfering in the internal and external contexts of an organization by reviewing deviant and divergent practices regarding the stimulation of creative processes. The development of creativity over time is illustrated by a concept called the spiral of creativity. In conclusion, analyzing creativity as something that is collectively produced and has manageable elements increases the ability to make decisions that foster creativity and allow it to be managed collectively.

Abstract:
In the process of energy reform, liberalization and deregulation of the electricity market, a number of features have been identified that are related to the fact that in the conditions of market relations, the economic benefit and the price of electricity for consumers become a priority. There is certain isolation of networks and power lines from generation facilities; attention is lost to such an important problem as the reliability and safety of power supply. In this situation, the load on the power elements of the electric network increases, there is a need to create appropriate reserves of generating capacities, to increase the throughput of electric networks. All this involves increasing the role of system operators and improving supervisory control systems. The strategic goal of this study was to analyze the development of the electric power complex by the creation of smart grid systems as a platform for market, managerial and technological innovations that provide a transition to a new level of development of the electric power industry in Uzbekistan.

Abstract:
Abstract An important interest in public-administration ethics has been expressed in OECD member states since the 1990s in reaction to the development of New Public Management (NPM) reforms. However, the meanings attached to the ethical issue in a context of managerial modernization remain ambiguous depending on the country and / or time period studied. Therefore, this article aims at underlining the main characteristics of administrative ethics thanks to the creation of a theoretical concept which summarizes them. The latter can also serve as an analytical grid to engage in further research and especially comparisons between varying national cases. For that purpose, the analysis is divided in two parts and draws insights from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, Canada and France, through a review of major official reports and a series of interviews with public officials and experts in charge of these questions. First of all, it concentrates on the OECD’s historical activities on public-sector ethics in order to devise a theoretical concept of administrative ethics. The utility and relevance of this concept is then tested while being implemented to compare the Canadian and French governments’ overall interest in ethics in their process of public-management reform. The article distinguishes two key dimensions of public-administration ethics, namely the managerial and normative ones, which are strongly intertwined. On the one hand, the managerial dimension focuses on the management of civil servants’ daily behaviors and combines the compliance-based and integrity-based approaches to govern conducts in public administration. On the other hand, the normative dimension refers to the normative framework incorporating the core principles and values which define civil servants’ professional identities and guide their specific missions and goals within the democratic system. The historical comparison of major trends in terms of administrative ethics in Canada and France shows, finally, that, despite national characteristics, the two countries have tended progressively to deal with the ethical issue in a more comprehensive way. They are trying to take into account, for example, problems due to conflicts of public values and combine compliance-based and integrity-based instruments of ethics management. These evolutions shed light more generally on the movement of hybridization, incorporating elements from traditional public administration and New Public Management, which seems to develop in both states.

Abstract:
Sub-Saharan nations are facing a lot of challenges for the planning of their future energy sector. Particularly, the rural areas of Sub-Saharan nations bear scarcity of energy access as there is a lack of grid facilities, less financial and technical support, pressure from foreign institutions, excess of energy export etc. Although Ethiopia is growing as a leader of energy sector in Sub-Saharan region, it is also facing numerous problems similar to other African nations. In this paper, authors have conducted a detailed study of Ethiopian power sector. This study includes the complete background and overview of current energy sector in Ethiopia. The key factors which affect the development of energy sector such as international energy export, policy framework, role of government and regulatory framework are also discussed. It is observed that there is a huge renewable energy potential in Ethiopia which is under utilized, and can be used as a major resource for rural energy access. The authors recommend that a new policy framework and subsidies for renewable energy generation, motivational awareness, technical training, improvement in organizational efficiency and managerial skills, arrangement of financial instruments for new projects and easy ICTs based mobile banking programme should be initiated as well as improved to achieve sustainable growth, and 100% energy access by increasing renewable energy production.

Abstract:
Purpose The higher education system must move closer to society and its requirements, and therefore, the process of transformation in the university context brings new challenges. The purpose of this paper is to present research on a case study that examines the perception of the middle managers’ role from their own perspective: how they describe it, the associated tasks, the skills perceived as necessary and what they think about the need to become academic leaders. Design/methodology/approach The authors have adopted a mixed-method approach. Data were collected through an in-depth interview and an adapted version of the Personal Construct Grid (Kelly, 1955). Two types of analyses have been carried out: statistical analysis and content analysis following a category system. The participants were academics performing a management position selected in accordance with certain criteria relevant for the study. Findings The research shows how their perception collides with the traditional characteristics of the university, which focus on the managerial and bureaucratic tasks of the middle managers. The study also reveals evidence of the poor visibility of these managers with no place for action due to their lack of power and decision-making opportunities. Originality/value The participants claim that it is necessary for people who hold the position to become agents of change by creating a shared identity through teamwork and collaboration. To this end, this paper presents a proposal for the development of a framework for action.

Abstract:
Assessing the potential of non-point source pollution to assist in the planning of Best Management Practice (BMP) is significant for improving pollution prevention and control in a river basin. In many cases, however, the grid-based modelling analysis is prohibitively laborious and hindered because of insufficient information. This paper presents a new and fast methodology for catchment land-use identification and waste load estimation by properly integrating the skills of remote sensing (RS), geographic information system (GIS), global positioning system (GPS), and the Generalized Watershed Loading Functions (GWLF) model. In this analysis, eight types of land-use patterns in the watershed area of the Kao-Ping River Basin were classified with the aid of SPOT satellite images, Erdas Imagine® image processing system, and ArcView® GIS system. Hydrologic and geographical features were obtained or derived by the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and GIS technique simultaneously. The GWLF model was used to estimate the waste loads of non-point sources in terms of the total phosphorus (TP) and total nitrogen (TN). It shows that the variations of TN and TP loadings are closely related to the amount of rainfall over seasons. Final managerial policy can be made with respect to the identified three impact levels of nutrient loadings in the Kao-Ping River Basin, southern Taiwan, which could eventually perform as part of the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) study in this region.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to discuss “system transformation” in the context of different workforces and organisations seeking to support people experiencing multiple exclusion homelessness (MEH). From a relational and integrated care perspective it aims to identify barriers to achieving more effective ways of working in the prevailing context of “managerial domination”. Communities of practice (COPs) are evaluated to identify their potential to overcome some of these barriers. Design/methodology/approach – The paper presents a theoretical and conceptual discussion of a project in which a number of COPs were established and evaluated to ascertain their value in developing more relational ways of working in the context of MEH. Case studies of COPs operating in the context of MEH are explored and discussed. Findings – It is concluded that COPs have the potential to deliver small-scale changes (“little miracles”) which are characteristically more subversive than transformative. Nevertheless, the authors still see these small gains as significant when compared to the inertia that is often found in local systems of care where more traditional management techniques (such as “payment by results”) prevail. The authors also draw attention to the scope for much improved service quality which flows from moving beyond the “tick box” and into the realms of what it really takes to tackle homelessness and multiple exclusion. In other words, although often requiring considerable amounts of “craft and graft” to deliver seemingly very small amounts of change, these “little miracles” may actually be more conducive in the long run to delivering the kind of tangible “real” change that is often aspired to by both workers and service users and their carers. Research limitations/implications – The COPs project was limited in terms of time and scale and, hence, further research would be needed to, for example, ascertain their longer-term potential. Practical implications – There is merit in the theoretical perspectives discussed and, from these, of understanding how best to establish and operate COPs as a vehicle for achieving better outcomes through integrated or collaborative working. Social implications – There is much scope for better integrated or more collaborative working in the context of MEH and this paper draws attention to how COPs could be one means of achieving better outcomes for people experiencing MEH. Originality/value – This is the first paper to set out the theoretical analysis of COPs as a means of achieving better integrated or collaborative working.

Abstract:
The article provides insights to describing specific features of government regulation of the energy market. The study offers an overview on the evolution of methods, forms and tools of government control of power supply system components across different countries. Domestic and international business practices bear evidence of a number of problems in government regulation which drives the search for their solution by building a new, more progressive model of energy market regulation, in particular, the configuration management model. This configuration regulation model contributes to more effective implementation of tools and methods of managerial intervention to the energy market at four levels: micro- (companies, households) and meso- (regional) – in shaping demand for certain types of energy resources; on meso- (sectoral) and macro- (national) – in building energy supply patterns. The effectiveness of the energy market configuration regulation model tools by their functional load is validated through a range of organizational measures (reduction of dependence on the oil and gas market; decommissioning of obsolete facilities; liberalization of the energy market in the area of distribution; further liberalization as to distributed energy generation); technological measures (building local networks with renewable sources generation; Smart Grid versions –"smart networks"; implementation of passive / active house standards; creating the electricity storage market); financial measures (attracting large investments in the energy sector; implementing project financing technologies to attract long-term investments from the banking system; launching special economic zones to reduce the tax burden on business entities within the framework of the government energy saving policy). The implementation of all these activities will enhance energy efficiency and energy saving systems, as well as contributes to attaining strategic benchmarks defined in the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2030.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to introduce the special issue on state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the contemporary global business scenario. Against the theoretical background of and the invited themes for the special issue, the paper presents a summary of key findings and practical implications of the accepted papers and suggests future research directions. Design/methodology/approach The paper is conceptual, which organized through utilitarianism or legitimism; SOEs scenario 1 – hungry fox, hunting bears; SOEs scenario 2 – dancing elephant, flying bears; what do we know and what we wish to explore; what have been examined; what we need to study further; closing note by bears’ well-wishers; and protocol of the special issue. Findings By deeply looking into emerging economies (China, India), developed economies (Denmark, Italy, Sweden), transition economies (Tunisia) and diverse sectors (public transport, space), coupled with cross-country sample data, the nine accepted papers have discussed several interesting findings and recommended numerous implications for the policymakers and SOEs’ managers. Drawing upon the interdisciplinary literature, empirical and qualitative papers would deepen the understanding of the growth strategies and performance of SOEs, and the application of management theories such as institutional theory, agency theory, social exchange theory, managerial grid theory, incomplete contracts theory and public governance view, among others. The issue also brings a review-cum-citation analysis paper on the impact of privatization on the performance of SOEs. Originality/value The papers have made unique contributions to the public economics, new public management, international business and organizational development literature by critically analyzing the burgeoning phenomenon of the changing dynamics and globalization of SOEs.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to look at the characteristics of internal quality assurance (IQA) systems of higher education institutions to understand whether these systems tend to reproduce a given model, externally defined and suggested to institutions, or rather to be shaped by institutions’ features and interests. Design/methodology/approach The study is supported in the analysis of the content of self-assessment reports of 12 internal QA systems certified, in Portugal, between 2012 and 2015. An analysis grid was used based on three categories: IQA systems’ historical framework, structural/managerial component and monitoring, assessment and continuous improvement. Findings Institutions tended to follow a “one size fits all” approach, meaning that external (European and national) quality assurance (QA) references were used in an identical way, giving origin to rather similar IQA systems. Institutional characteristics do not seem to have played a relevant role, eventually due to institutions’ will to obtain their systems’ certification and, thus, achieve a light-touch external QA. Research limitations/implications The study was based on the analysis of only certified IQA systems and relies on document analysis. It would be interesting to also include non-certified systems, in a comparative perspective, complemented with data deriving from interviews and/or questionnaires with some of the actors involved in the certification process. Practical implications The study provides an understanding of how IQA systems are being implemented in Portugal. Thus, it can be of interest to other institutions as well as to QA agencies. Originality/value The study addresses a topic still relatively absent from research on QA in higher education, being of interest for researchers in the field.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the moderating role of organizational culture in affective commitment and job satisfaction relationship. Design/methodology/approach Responses were collected from 712 employees working in nine different Indian central public sector enterprises /state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by using a questionnaire-based survey. Theoretical analysis is based on social exchange theory and managerial grid theory. Data were analyzed by using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Findings The establishment of organizational culture as a moderator in Indian organizations is unique. This study has utilized data from employees working in different departments of organizations to provide unbiased responses. The results demonstrate that impact of affective commitment on employees’ job satisfaction is moderated by supportive and innovative cultures. Additionally, this research also proves that bureaucratic culture does not play a crucial role in moderating the relationship between organizational commitment and employees’ job satisfaction. Research limitations/implications Results are relevant to top-level and middle-level management in which people are involved in the governance of the organization, both directly and indirectly. There should be fixed working hours and optimum time management. Due to growing pressure, few employees who have personal obligations toward their families, such as nursing mothers and stressed individuals, should be provided with flexible working hours. In this way, culture can become supportive to cater to different needs of employees. Originality/value Till date, organizational culture as moderator has received very less attention in India. The establishment of organizational culture as a moderator in Indian SOEs is unique. The results add to the growing literature of commitment from non-western context as this study is based on Indian samples. This study has utilized data from employees working in different departments of organizations to provide unbiased responses.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: The dominance of a digital wave is being felt in every sphere of the industry, and has been a big boon for online shoppers today. However, companies tend to ignore a section of their customer base, i.e. those who are visually impaired; although there are well-established standards set by WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Although most e-commerce companies in India conform to these guidelines, as per the recommendations from the Indian government; however ironically; these are not accessible by the blind. OBJECTIVE: This paper specially focuses on the list of problems that the visually-impaired in India face while trying to access e-commerce sites, as most of the sites haven’t conformed to the WCAG 2.0 guidelines. METHOD: Qualitative analysis through the Repertory technique by Kelly in which, the grid developed for different constructs addressing various problems faced by such users in accessing e-commerce websites. FINDINGS: From the findings, it is evident that these visually impaired people are extremely open to gaining access towards the companies’ strategies, as they also want to be a part of the main segment of the society, and would in turn be a strong contributor to the profits of the companies, if they’re taken seriously. The findings also have a series of managerial as well as social implications. CONCLUSION: Further, the study also looks at lending some suggestions through which, marketing managers would be able to look into this prevailing problem, and thereby address the same, while enhancing their level of engagement with this specially-enabled client base. This would result not only in adding profits to the business at large, but also ensure customer satisfaction and delight, albeit the fact that they’re differently abled.

Abstract:
Contributing to a relatively new stream of literature connecting grit to organizational retention, this research note examined how internal employability perceptions interacted with a manager’s grittiness to predict professional mobility intentions (turnover and change career intentions). Retention is a salient concern within the U.S. hospitality industry given the high turnover rate and its subsequent impact on career trajectories of professionals. Based on an exploratory survey-based approach the results of this study suggests an association between grit and professional mobility, and that effect is moderated by the perceptions a hospitality manager holds regarding internal employability. Pointedly, when hospitality managers reported increasingly lower feelings of internal employability, grit played a significant role predicting professional mobility intentions; less gritty managers were more likely to intend to harbor turnover intentions and career change intentions, while their grittier counterparts were less likely to intend to leave.

Abstract:
This study attempts primarily to measure the financial performance of banking industry of Bangladesh for the periods 2013–2014 and to rate them according to the composite rating system. For this purpose, 10 private commercial banks (PCBs) have been selected from 38 PCBs. CAMEL has critically analyzed the financial performance of these banks. This finds that most of the banks get 2.14 with an average rating of composite range, where only Eastern Bank Ltd. gets “Strong” rating, seven PCBs get “Satisfactory” rating, AB Bank Ltd. and City Bank Ltd. lay middle of the range of composite score. From this ground, it is clearly reflected that most of the PCBs in Bangladesh have performed quite satisfactorily in recent years. The performance of most banks is dependent more on the managerial ability in formulating strategic plans and the efficient implementation of its strategies. Maintenance of asset quality is the major challenge in this year and is feared to remain so in 2014. The banking sector in Bangladesh has passed somewhat an average year regarding governance, profitability and soundness in 2013. Finally, it is recommended that the banks should be more careful to ensure the quality of assets and its uses, and increased their efficiency in managerial grids.

Forest management in central Europe is in the grip of radical change, which has taken on the character of a crisis. The main reasons for this crisis are a fall in profit and the many social altercations over the use of forest resources. The results of the crisis are manifest in the conflict-laden negotiations on the new formulation of the institutions in the forest sector in society, but also in a polymorphic identity crisis of foresters and managers and their sometimes frustrating search for ways and possibilities of running an enterprise faced with the tensions within society at large. In this paper we introduce a management concept (based on the St. Gallen management method),we diagnose the shortcomings of strategic and especially normative management of forest enterprises, and we advocate a professional management policy.

The study investigated grip strength in managers-engineers, cable wiring, circuit board assembly, integrated circuits women at 90? elbow flexion and 180? elbow extension. Women seeking or receiving medical care for musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremities or neck showed significant declines (p< 0.01) in handgrip strength and these also related to the type of work and the level of perceived physical exertion. Women in the managerial-engineering group showed fewer musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity compared with the other groups and also had significantly stronger handgrip. Our findings encourage us to recommend hand dynamometer testing as a useful diagnostic tool to determine loss of handgrip strength.

Abstract:
The study based on the available materials, facts and events shows chronic diseases of the Palestine’s fiscal situation. The authors see the main reasons for this in the fact that Israel managed to impose on the state of Palestine not only economic, organizational and managerial, but also political mechanisms and tools for managing and regulating the financial and budgetary sector. But this is not the only reason. The analysis focuses on the international controversy between two points of view: the first shows and defends the idea of the crisis of the Palestine’s fiscal situation. Its apologists attribute the reasons for this to the occupation of the Palestinian territory and to the occupation regime, undermining the possibility of creating normal living conditions for the Palestinians. The opposite view either denies the state of deep crisis in the financial and budgetary sector of Palestine or attributes it to the shortcomings and failures of the Administration unable to cope with the existing problems. The article analyzes in detail the influence of international actors, organizations and structures on the Palestine’s budgetary and financial situation. The results of the study do not give a clear answer as to how the existing problems will be resolved. Theoretically, they can be positively resolved only in case of creation of a full-fledged state of Palestine. In practice, Palestine and Israel are not able to resolve the problems of the inherent antagonistic conflict by themselves. But Israel today uses the capacity and skills of its administrators, managers and financiers and with the support, first of all, of the United States maintains its leadership and receives preferences in the financial and economic sphere of the Palestinian Autonomy. In the medium term, the fiscal situation of Palestine will retain its chronic problems and contradictions. Their aggravation will be associated with the outbreaks of radicalism and armed clashes in the structure of relations between the two countries and with the rise of radicalism within them.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the future prospects of innovative services linked to sustainable energy systems. Design/methodology/approach – Service perspective is examined in the context of socio-technical transition and linked to the bottom-up and top-down social processes that foster sustainability. The foresight method applied is trend analysis. Findings – Two groups of trends were identified: the trends driven by technological development and the trends focussing on societal, managerial and consumer issues. The former consists of renewable energy sources, hybrid solutions, smart grids and smart energy markets. The latter involves distributed energy production, demand response, optimisation of sustainability and the role of energy as an opportunity and as service. The study reveals that energy is increasingly understood as a comprehensive and tailor-made service solution for communities and individual households. Consumers will enter the energy market as active participants; it raises the need for many types of services. Research limitations/implications – Deepening of understanding is required in several topics of this study, and more formal methods of foresight are needed to test the generalisability of its qualitative results. Practical implications – More effective policy measures are needed for fostering new services and social and system innovations in the area of sustainable energy. Innovation management practices should be developed in these areas. Originality/value – The paper aims to narrow the research gap linked to foresight in services by examining services in the area of sustainable energy systems – one of the “grand challenges” today.
