Abstract:
International joint ventures (IJVs) have become popular because of their importance as a strategic alternative in global competition. Construction companies consider IJVs as a vehicle to enter new markets and exploit business opportunities. Being a special type of strategic alliance, IJVs offer partnering companies to combine the distinctive competencies and the complementary resources. Despite the benefits associated with IJVs, such entities are very difficult to manage mainly due to their inherent complexity, involving a mixture of different cultures, managerial systems, philosophies, and at

The implementation of photovoltaic power plants is the result of the collaboration between developers, investors, financing institutions, municipalities and general contractors. Investors make informed decisions based on expert evaluations of financial and nonfinancial criteria of projects. The investor provides equity capital for the project and the bank provides a loan usually in the amount of 70-80% of the total investment cost. The investor looks for the optimal solution for his investment and for the preparation and implementation of the project. To achieve this the investor needs to have

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with donations of time and money to charitable institutions in Britain. The Charities Aid Foundation annual Charity Household Survey is statistically analysed and profiles of individuals likely to donate money to charity, and those likely to donate at different levels, are produced. A model of direct and indirect influences on charity donations is developed and the implications of the results for fundraising managers discussed. These analyses are then repeated for volunteers. Those most likely to volunteer and those who are likely to give at higher levels are profiled.

System dynamics modelling has been used for around 40 years to address complex, systemic, dynamic problems, those often described as wicked. But, system dynamics modelling is not an exact science and arguments about the most suitable techniques to use in which circumstances, continues. The nature of these wicked problems is investigated through a series of case studies where poor situational awareness among stakeholders was identified. This was found to be an underlying cause for management failure, suggesting need for better ways of recognising and managing wicked problem situations. Human co

Abstract:
During the last two decades, managerial coaching has become increasingly popular in organizations. Despite its popularity, there is a paucity of empirical evidence in the study of managerial coaching outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between perceived managerial coaching behavior and employee self-reported affective and performance-related outcomes based on perceptions of selected organization employees. Three theories, path-goal leadership, career motivation, and organization support, were used to frame the hypothesized conceptual model of managerial coachin

Abstract:
Based on literature, a theoretical model was developed for viable performance consisting of eight constructs whilst the trust model of Martins (2000) was used to measure four organisational trust constructs. Exploratory factor analysis was used to extract the constructs, and structural equation modelling was employed to validate the models against the data. An empirical model for viable performance resulted in a solution with seven constructs and organisational trust with five constructs. The two empirical models were unified into a model of viable performance and trust resulting in a measur
