Abstract:
The water resources carrying capacity is an important component of natural resource carrying capacity in a country or region sustained development process. It is the key being related to using the water resources reasonably, which means vital to the sustained growth of the water resources, the social economy and the ecological environment concordant development.Taking the case of river basin in arid zone of the Manasi River Basin,The author evaluated water resources supporting capacity condition basin in different year of the Manasi River by establishing fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model. The results indicated that because of saving water technological progress and industry restructure advancement, the water resources carrying capacity of Manasi River will be improved in the future twenty years. The water resources supply and demand contradictory will be obtained certain alleviation, but the uneven of water resources space and time distribution is still the main restrictive factor of the development of society and economic and the ecological environment construction.

Abstract:
Gheiasvand et al. (2020) use the two larger benthic foraminifera species Simplorbitolina manasi Ciry & Rat and Mesorbitolina parva (Douglass) (Orbitolinidae) as upper Aptian “potential index fossils” for parts of the Taft Formation in Central Iran. This age assignment is accompanied by changes to well-established orbitolinid biozona-tions (e.g. occurrence of Praeorbitolina in the late Aptian) with far-reaching implications. These data were also used in a later “multidisciplinary study” (Gheiasvand et al., 2021) for isotopic correlations (e.g., location of OAE`s), delimitation of palaeobiogeographic faunal provinces and related migration patterns. It is shown herein that the taxa identified as S. manasi and M. parva belong to Iraqia simplex Henson and Palorbitolina lenticularis (Blumenbach) respectively documenting a lower and not an upper Aptian age. This revised age and the different taxononomic inventory do not question all results obtained by Gheiasvand et al. (2020, 2021), but provide a revised basis interpretation.

Agricultural Non-point Source (AgNPS) pollution is one of the most important reasons for environmental pollution and unbalance of ecology. Nowadays, the negative impact of AgNPS pollution is increasing. Oasis and desertification exist at the same time in Xinjiang. The evaluation of economic loss caused by AgNPS pollution was carried out in the Manasi River Basin. The economic losses on AgNPS pollution were assessed by the methods of Concentration-Value Curve. Fertilizer overusing were focused on this research, which were major sources of AgNPS pollution. The results showed that environment economic loss caused by abuse of fertilizer was 8.115 million RMB in 2012.

Abstract:
During the past 20 years, great landscape changes took place in the northwest of China. Landscape change resulted in soil type transformations. This paper discusses the changes and fractal of soil types in oasis. In order to do it, the soil type maps of Manasi River Basin in 1987 and 2006 were used. 13 types of soil and 2 types of land-use were classified and analyzed in the study area. Results indicated many variations in characteristics. Firstly, all soil types underwent remarkable changes from 1987 to 2006 in the study area: the identified changed area was about 30% or 6506.33 km2. Secondly, in comparison with 1987, in 2006 2/3 of the area's soil types increased, while 1/3 decreased. Rapid expansion of Aquicambids (415.28 km2), and rapid decrease of Petrocambids (797.05 km2) and Aquisalids (415.93 km2) were the noticeable findings. Furthermore, Haplocambids obtained largest gains from other soil types, while Petrocambids lost largest area to other types. Additionally, the fractal relationship objectively existed between the perimeter and area of soil patches. The fractal dimension of Aquisalids, Petrocalcids and Ustifluvents became higher and their shapes became more complex during this period. The stability index was higher in 2006 which indicated that the spatial structure of soil type was more stable than in 1987. These chaotic and occasional changes were largely caused by human activities and natural conditions. Consequently, environmental managers should pay more attention to soil changes in the arid and semiarid region. Santrauka Per pastaruosius 20 metų šiaurės vakarų Kinijoje įvyko didelių kraštovaizdžio pokyčių, lėmusių ir dirvožemio tipų pakitimus. Remiantis 1987–2006 m.

Abstract:
We present a tree-ring based reconstruction of water-year (October–September) streamflow for the Manasi River in the northern Tien Shan mountains in northwestern China. We developed eight Tien Shan spruce (Picea schrenkiana Fisch. et Mey.) chronologies for this purpose, which showed a common climatic signal. The hydroclimatic forcing driving tree growth variability affected streamflow with a three- to four-year lag. The model used to estimate streamflow is based on the average of three chronologies and reflects the autoregressive structure of the streamflow time series. The model explains 51% of variance in the instrumental data and allowed us to reconstruct streamflow for the period 1629–2000. This preliminary reconstruction could serve as a basis for providing a longer context for evaluating the recent (1995–2000) increasing trends in Manasi River streamflow and enables the detection of sustained periods of drought and flood, which are particularly challenging for managing water systems. Several of the reconstructed extended dry (wet) periods of the Manasi River correspond to reconstructed periods of drought (flood) in Central Asia in general and in other Tien Shan mountain locations in particular, suggesting that the analysis of Tien Shan spruce could contribute significantly to the development of regionally explicit streamflow reconstructions.

Abstract:
We study comparatively two sets of bengali narrative poems dealing wit with the way the goddesses manasa and candi respectively impose their worship on earth. The manasa mangal having as its heroin the serpent goddess is studied in 6 versions due to various authors (xv-xviiith), the candi in 4. By a structural approach we bring out from the analysis of the characters, places and narrative incidents the symbolic codes used in this corpus. We look for clues in the "great" all-india tradition, taking advantage of the works of m. Biardeau and ch. Malamoud, as also in its "popular" and local transformations, without opposing one from the other. Having an homologous formal structure, these texts deal with a different sets of problems. The manasa, formulates anew the "classical" opposition between ambrosia and poison, birds and serpents, immortality and death, shows the triumph of devotion over powers oriented yoga. The candi presents at first the royal and warlike aspect of the goddess related to a territory: the kingdom in the forest. In a second story, candi is the protectress of the samsara. We analyse the important role played by women, and the emphasis put on the merchant as the epitome of the precarious condition of the "man in the world"

Abstract:
Bibliography: pages 217-232.<br>Yali-Manisi, a Xhosa writer, performs and writes traditional praise poetry (izibongo) and modern poems (isihobe) and can, therefore, be regarded as a bard because he also performs his poetry. One can safely place him in the interphase as he combines performance and writing. The influence of oral poems and other oral genres can be perceived in his works as some of his works are a product of performances which were recorded, transcribed and translated into English. The dissertation, among other things, examines the way in which Yali-Manisi's work has been influenced by such manipulations. In this study we examine lzibongo Zeenkosi ZamaXhosa, lmfazwe kaMianjeni, Yaphum'igqina and other individually recorded poems. His poetry is characterised by an interaction between tradition and innovation. The impact of traditional poetic canon on the poet, the way of exploiting traditional devices are the most outstanding characteristics concerning his poetry. His optimistic disposition towards the future of the South African political situation leaves one with the impression that he envisages an end to the Black-White political dichotomy. Yali-Manisi manipulates literary forms to articulate specific socio-political and cultural attitudes which are dominant among the majority of South Africans. His writings coincide with some of the major political changes in South Africa. In his recent works, he is explicit and protests against Apartheid structures especially in Transkei and Ciskei. In his earlier works he could not articulate the feelings of his people as an imbongi because of the fear of censorship and themes of protests had to be handled with extreme caution if one's manuscripts were to be published at all. He often alludes to national oppression of the majority by the minority and instigates the former to be politically conscious. In some instances (e.g. in his historical poems) he seeks to correct inaccuracies which are presented in history books. Thus showing the listener/reader another side of the coin. He displays very keen interest and deep knowledge of natural phenomena such as seasons of the year and the behaviour of animals during each period. Poems about historical figures are characterised by certain allusions which refer to realities and events in the life of the 'praised one' or his forefathers. This helps to shed light on the present situation. Although fictitious adaptations of genuine events have been done, an element of reality is still prevalent.

Abstract:
The epic Manas deals with the struggles led by the Kyrgyz against their various opponents and oppressors. According to the legend, Manas is the first one who gathered the sparse Kyrgyz tribes and gave them a united land. His son Semetey and grand-son Seytek would pursue his legacy. In 1995, Manas was at the centre of an international cultural focus as the celebrations of its so-called millenary were held in Kyrgyzstan. From then on, the status of Manas went through uncertainties, and eventually disappeared from the political scene between 2005 and 2010.In 2009, China nominated the Manas epic in the UNESCO on behalf of its Kyrgyz minority creating a scandal in Kyrgyzstan. Until 2013, when Kyrgyzstan nominated on its own the "Kyrgyz Epic Trilogy" (Manas, Semetey, Seytek) in the UNESCO, Manas knew a real reinforcement in the country.During this eventful period appeared a new kind of recitation, called "lengthy-recitation", running through several days and organized annually. Those new recitations gather most of the manasčı (the bard who tells Manas) of the country and aim at popularise the epic under a traditional shape (to tell Manas).Nevertheless, we cannot speak about a single ideology of Manas – an informed observation of those recitations will reveal the plurality of speeches on the Kyrgyz epic which testifies a struggle of interests and thoughts. The present work will study the return of Manas on Kyrgyzstan political and ideological scenes, between 2009 and 2013, and to show what is a recitation of Manas nowadays. Both aspects will bring a systematic and contemporary view on our knowledge about Manas

Mannas, Jennifer Michelle. "Assessing Weddell seal maternal investment in offspring." Thesis, Montana State University, 2011. http://etd.lib.montana.edu/etd/2011/mannas/MannasJ0511.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
Reproduction is costly and involves a number of sequential physiological processes that require different levels of energetic investment. In mammalian species gestation and lactation require the most energy and the amount of energy invested in reproduction is reflected in litter size at birth and by offspring growth through weaning. The object of this study was to describe variation in Weddell seal (Leptonychotes weddellii) pup mass at birth and during several ages of the lactation/nursing period, and to evaluate the ability of several maternal traits to explain this variation. Mass measurements were collected from 887 pups at parturition and throughout lactation in Erebus Bay, Antarctica during the 2004 through 2010 field seasons and maternal traits were taken from a long term database. Analysis demonstrated high individual variation in pup mass within a season and modest variation among seasons which suggests that pup mass may be correlated with individual animal attributes rather than annual variation in environmental conditions. Maternal age, a female's reproductive status the previous season and their interaction were found to be the most influential maternal traits. Pup body mass at parturition and during lactation showed maternal age-related variation with evidence of senescence during pre-partum investment and terminal investment during post-partum investment. A female's reproductive status in one season affected her reproductive investment during lactation in consecutive seasons but that effect was correlated with age. Younger females who pupped in consecutive seasons weaned larger pups than those females who were of the same age and did not give birth in consecutive seasons. The opposite was found to be true for older females. The variation in the affect of maternal traits on maternal investment may be due to the increased energy requirement of lactation, age specific changes in reproductive costs, and a senescent decline in physiological function.

Attempting to answer those challenges, the work force of each region goes molding itself as it can for the market and economy demands, by its own initiative and with the public policies stimulus of qualification and professional improvement. To know with more depth the school attendance situation of the Manaus population, as a whole, including to predict and dissert under the Active Economic Population (AEP) is what motivates this study. When the history of world education is analyzed then it is notable that countries which had devoted great importance to education and knowledge are nowadays the ones which holds better position in the economic and social scenario. Therefore, this study purposes to accomplish a careful diagnosis of Manaus work force, at the time range of 1991-2000. As for the specific plan, the work aims to identify the work force through the analysis of the productive sectors of economy; Evaluate the evolution of this work force’s school attendance and its respective economic level; Analyze the work development state, by the United Nations Human Development Report. The conceptual spot deals with the relation between population growth, education and economic development, or so, the qualification effort of the work force and its relevance on the improvement of people life pattern. As for the applied method at the study, its settles on confronting the specificity of the work force at the time range of 1990 to 2000, regarding the data of two demographic census produced by IBGE, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. So the mentioned data was soon analyzed by descriptive statistics, onto defining the inclination of the work force scholarity level and the economy sectors that has absorved more of this qualified contingent. For the social analysis, it was took for consideration the scholarity and income, because from this data crossing some conclusions can be drawed. First, it can not be assure for insufficient data that the AEP increase was favorable or not to the local economy. It is understandable, only according to few indicators, that more people are having access to elementary, high school and to university. According to the work force scholarity profile existing in Manaus between the years of 1991-2000 it can be observable that from the AEP: 4,1% did not posses any formal education, 29,2% had only a non-finished elementary school, while 20% had the complete elementary school level. By judging the statistics and in comparison to previous decades, the people quota that had gather more scholarity has increased expressively, resulting on 31,5% of the AEP with complete high school, while the finished undergraduates were limited to only 5% of the work force.<br>A região amazônica, apesar de ser reconhecidamente uma das mais importantes regiões para o ecossistema mundial, dispõe de abundantes recursos naturais de grande valor econômico, contudo pode sofrer com a escassez de pessoas qualificadas para responder aos desafios do desenvolvimento da Amazônia, e especificamente Manaus, como a maior cidade, na qual está concentrada a maioria da sua população.

Abstract:
The dissertations objective is to make reflections on the process of urbanization that the Amazon city Manaus has been facing in recent years. The analyze highlights some of the considerable changes that have occurred in the downtown area in regards to public policies on tourism seeking to define in what way tourist activities have appropriated space and embedding within it their own logic of reorganization. I argue that this tendency to appropriate has become notorious over the last few years in Manaus is historical points of interest. The analysis concentrates on the role that the Brazilian State has in developing appropriating acts in regards to the Manauss urban space via three spheres of power that influence public policies. The theoretical approach of this analysis borrows from various concepts: Milton Santos comprehension of geographical space, understood as a system of objects and actions, as well as socio-spatial conception; the ideas of Lobato Correia on urban space; and on the Rita de Cássia is analysis on tourist public policies in Brazil as an example of, and amongst others, urban planning and intervention.
