Abstract:
Introduction: Mandura (Slag of Iron) is a metallic oxide-cum-silicate of iron with the general formula Fe2SiO4 and is also known as Slag. In the classical text, different types of methods are explained in different classical books for the preparation of Mandura bhasma based on its utility. Objective: To prepare and analyse Mandura bhasma by employing various Bhasma pariksha mentioned in Ayurvedic science and Modern parameters along with analysis as per tools available today. Materials and methods: To standardise the standard operating procedure (SOP), Mandura Bhasma according to the method mentioned in classical Alchemy (Rasatarangini and Rasamrita). Mandura, detoxification process was followed by heating it in charcoal and dipping it in cow urine and the incineration process by levigating with juice of Aloe vera and heating system generated by cow dung cakes. Result: Bhasma became brownish, very fine, very soft and smooth and passed all classical characteristics of Ayurvedic parameters like Rekhapurnatva, Varitaratva, Sukshmatva, Shlakshnatva etc.,. All physic-chemical parameters are within the standard and presence of phytochemicals like steroids, alkaloids and tannin. X-ray diffraction analysis results revealed the crystalline size and FTIR revealed the presence of functional groups. Conclusion: The therapeutic efficacy of the Bhasma is believed to manifest only when it has successfully undergone the Bhasma Pariksha, a rigorous traditional assessment ensuring its quality and potency. This would undoubtedly aid in ensuring safety, efficacy, and batch-to-batch consistency.

Abstract:
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a popular spice which is used for the treatment of different gastrointestinal and inflammatory discomfort. In the present study, the total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activity of ginger extract using four solvents (ethanol, methanol, acetone, and ethyl acetate) were determined. Among the four solvents, methanol extract showed the maximum phenolic content (1183.813 mg GAE/100 g at Ayikel and 1022.409 mg GAE/100 g at Mandura) and the least phenolic content was found in acetone extract (748.865 mg GAE/100 g at Ayikel and 690.152 mg GAE/100 g at Mandura). In addition, the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity (84.868% at Ayikel and 82.883% at Mandura) was observed in methanol. However, acetone showed the least DPPH radical scavenging activity (73.864% at Ayikel and 70.597% at Mandura). Antioxidant activities of ginger extracts were also expressed as IC50 values, and acetone extract has maximum IC50 value (0.654 and 0.812 mg/mL) followed by ethyl acetate and ethanol, while being the lowest for methanol (0.481 and 0.525 mg/mL). The result of this study showed that extraction solvents significantly affected the total phenolic content and antioxidant activities of ginger. Thus, ginger can be regarded as promising candidates for natural sources of antioxidants with a high value of phenolic contents.

Abstract:
Introduction: Herbal medicines are being used extensively in many countries to treat many diseases, as seen in the COVID-19 pandemic, so the global market for herbal medicines has grown suddenly. In India, under the Ayurveda system of medicine, apart from plants, animal and mineral products have also been used as medicine since long ago. Both herbal and animal products contain primarily organic components; therefore, like food in-gredients (biological ingredients), herbal medicine and animal products are at risk of microbial growth and con-tamination. Punarnava Mandura is a popular Ayurvedic medicine described in various classical and authoritative texts of Ayurveda. It is a perfect example of a medicine made from substances derived from plants, minerals, and animals. It contains Mandura Bhasma as a mineral component apart from other herbal ingredients, while cow urine (Gomutra) is of animal origin. It is widely used in infectious and non-infectious fever, cold, indigestion, and other diseases of the Gastrointestinal tract. Microbial contamination of medicines is defined as the unintend-ed habitation of pathogenic microbes that cause their degradation. In pharmaceutics, various factors may be a source of microbes, including the ingredients of drugs, manpower, machines, and the environment of the phar-macy. Microbial contamination is a pertinent issue and essential in quality control steps in pharmaceutical man-ufacturing and food processing. Microbial contamination of medicines and food products may also affect human health. Objective: The primary aim and purpose of the present study was to determine the microbial contamina-tion of an Ayurvedic Herbo-mineral drug sample of Punarnava Mandura. Material and methods: The drug sam-ple (Self-made) was made in the institute pharmacy. Another drug sample (market sample) of Punarnava Man-dura of a pharmacy was also kept as a control to compare the results. Quantitative and qualitative assessment of microbial loads in Punarnava Mandura was assessed. The following strains of microbes: E. Coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Fungus, and Total viable aerobic bacterial count were evaluated. Results: Both the samples of Punarnava Mandura have shown an insignificant load of selected microbes.

Abstract:
The effect of antioxidant N-acetyl-D-Glucosamine on haematinic activity of two ayurvedic haematinic preparations Lauha bhasm and mandura bhasm was studied in albino rats. Anaemia was induced by administration of phenyl hydrazine (80 mg/kg for 24 hrs) by intra-peritoneal injection. Changes in body weight, red blood cell count (RBC), white blood cell count (WBC), haemoglobin (HB) concentration and haematocrit (HCT) were analysed as indices of anaemia. The mean cell haemoglobin (MCH), mean cell volume (MCV) and mean cell haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) which are indicators of macrocytosis were calculated accordingly. Phenyl hydrazine induced a significant decrease (P<0.05) in the blood parameters indicating anaemia and also resulted to significant increase (P<0.05) in the macrocytosis parameter. Combination of bhasm with antioxidant induced a significant (P<0.05) increase in the RBC count, HBG concentration, and HCT% which had been originally decreased by phenylhydrazine administration. The macrocytosis also turned towards normal as the animals recovered from anaemic condition. The results obtained suggested that combination of antioxidant N-acetyl-D-Glucosamine with Lauha bhasm & mandura bhasm shows improved haematinic activity.

Abstract:
Ayurvedic system of medicine is the only one out of all traditional system of medicine where importance of metals for curing ailments was probably first recognized. Iron is the fourth common element and second most common metal in the earth crust and is a biologically essential component of every living organism. Despite the low requirement of iron in human body iron overload is rare and iron deficiency is common in certain parts of the world and in certain age groups6. Iron containing drugs used as hematinics are known to induce some adverse drug reactions -- gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, colic pain, flatulence, constipation, black feces, and diarrhea. Iron containing compounds like Loha Bhasma, Kasis Bhasma and Mandura Bahsma are practiced since long and are indicated in a wide spectrum of dis-eases and can be a better alternative from Rasa shastra. Pharmacokinetics is proposed to study the absorp-tion, the distribution, the bio transformations and the elimination of drugs in man and animals. A primary aim of pharmacokinetics analyses is to determine bioavailability. Evaluation of Pharmaco kinetics of Loha bhasma, Kasis bhasma and Mandura bhasma were carried out. Serum iron was estimated using AAS. Pa-rameters like Cmax, Tmax etc. were calculated

Abstract:
Background: Mineral dosage forms (Rasoushadhis) with minute dose and quick activity has more bio-availability. Various single bhasmas or formulations are indicated in various disorders. Pandu is one among the rasa pradoshaja vikara. As the causes severalises the treatment modality also varies. Iron supplement alone is not sufficient to treat pandu roga, there are many other factors which influences in the treatment of pandu. Method: After the review of Rasaratnasamucchaya (RRS) the drugs like Shilajatu (Asphaltum punjabinum), Tamra (Cuprum), Loha (Ferrum), Mandura (Iron oxide), Yashada (Zinc) is also useful in the treatment of pandu roga. Along with this, the formulations indicated in Pandu roga mentioned in RRS contains other ingredients like abhraka, Swarna, rajata, rasa sindura, haratala, manashila, vaikranta, Swarna makshika, kansya with other herbal drugs may have synergetic activity. The present study was undertaken to review the single Bhasma indicated in Pandu as per the textbook of Rasaratnasamucchaya. Result: So in general, mandura bhasma is more effective in children comparing to lohabhasma, both acts as a hepatoprotective and improves the level of haemoglobin. Shilajatu acts a chelator when combined with the lohabhasma, tamrabhasma helps in the absorption of iron in the form of ferritin. Zinc is known to improve enzymatic action and thus helps in the better absorption of iron.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a hemoglobinopathy caused by a point mutation on the 11th chromosome. SCA does not have a clear Ayurveda reference, yet it could be considered as Panduroga (anemia) due to its signs and symptoms. Aim: This investigation aimed to determine the anti-sickling activity of herbo-mineral formulation Kiratadi Mandura (KTM) Vati in an in vitro model. Materials and methods: KTM was prepared and analytical testing of KTM was performed according to the method described in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. Blood samples from SCA, normal, and carrier patients were collected after obtaining informed written consent. The anti-sickling activity of KTM was carried out by emmel test, osmotic fragility test, and iron profile on sickle blood cells and compared with normal and carrier blood samples. Results: Pharmaceutical study of KTM suggests that it is a herbo-mineral type of tabulated formulation. The KTM Bhasma qualified the Bhasma Pariksha (ash test consisting of Nishchandratva (lusterlessness), Slakshnatva (softness), Rekhapurnatvam (fineness), Varitara (lightness), and Unama Pariksha (surface tension test) which is a measure of assessing the efficacy of the herbal drug. KTM showed its anti-sickling activity at 50 μg/μL concentration whereas such results were not found with 25 μg/μL and 12.5 μg/μL concentration. Conclusion: In this in vitro study, at a concentration of 50 μg/μL, KTM Vati facilitated the restoration of sickle erythrocytes to their inherent biconcave shape, potentially averting further complications associated with vaso-occlusion. Moreover, it exhibited membrane-stabilizing properties and raised iron levels in drepanocytes at the same concentration.

Abstract:
A woman’s and her family’s psychological and physical health both are impacted by infertility. Tubal blockage is the common cause of female infertility, resulting in the obstruction of the fallopian tubes and preventing the natural fertilization process. In modern science, the treatment available is surgery, which is quite expensive and, at times, unacceptable by the families. In this case report, a successful management of tubal blockage in a 27-year-old female patient is presented who was seeking for fertility. Uttarabasti and Ayurveda formulations including Pushpadhanva rasa, Phalasarpi, tablet Leptadene, Chandraprabha vati, Punarnava mandura, Ashokarishta, and Jatiphala churna were used internally. After five cycles of Uttarabasti and five months of internal Ayurvedic medications, tubal patency restored Uttarabasti along with oral Ayurveda medications has emerged as a minimally invasive and effective management option for selected cases of tubal blockage.

Abstract:
Rasa Shastra is an exclusive branch of ayurveda that uses processed metals and minerals in various combinations. Though the formulations are time tested, safety and quality concerns are being raised since the past two decades. In view of this, it becomes mandatory to generate quality control profiles of such formulations by following available parameters. Considering this, we attempted to develop standard manufacturing procedures of Maha Yogaraja Guggulu and generate preliminary physicochemical profiles using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, and high-performance thin-layer chromatography. The results from high-performance thin-layer chromatography revealed presence of organic constituents from plant material. X-ray diffraction indicated that the prepared drug contained cinnabar (mercury sulfide; Rasa sindhura), cassiterite (tin oxide; Vanga bhasma), litharge (lead oxide; Naga bhasma), and iron dioxide and magnetite (di-iron oxide; Loha and Mandura bhasma). The observations of the present study are preliminary and first of its kind that may be considered as baseline data for future studies.

Abstract:
Assessing and understanding the variations existing in crops due to genetic composition and environmental variability is very important in order to exploit the genetic constitution of crop plants. To this aim, variability measures such as phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) are commonly used. Heritability and genetic advance are major concerns for common bean to identify important traits for common bean genetic improvement. The field experiment was conducted at Mandura and Dibatie research substations working with sixteen genotypes of the common bean during 2017/2018 in lattice design with three replications to evaluate the performance of common bean genotypes and estimate the genetic variability. Heritability and genetic advance were estimated in relation to yield and its component traits for future breeding programs. Combined analysis of variance across locations revealed highly significant variations among genotypes for all traits under study. The PCV ranged from 3.36% for days to flowering to 15.91% for a number of pods per plant while the GCV value ranged from 0.75% for days to flowering to 13.74% for the number of pods per plant. Broad sense heritability values ranged from 5.00% for days to flowering to 84.61% for a hundred seed weight. Generally, the result of the study showed that significant genetic variability among tested genotypes and a simple selection for effective improvement of these traits. Background The risk of death from complications relating to pregnancy and childbirth for women’s lifetime is higher in developing countries. Improving maternal and child health through a well-organized institutional delivery service is central to achieving reduced maternal and child mortality. Despite the efforts that have been made to improve maternal health outcomes in Ethiopia, institutional delivery is still unacceptably low. Objective This study was conducted to assess institutional delivery service utilization and associated factors in the study area. Methods A Community-based cross-sectional study was conducted. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to employ a total of 546 women. Data were collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire and entered into EpiData version 3.1 and then exported to SPSS version 23.0. for analysis. Logistic regression models were used to determine factors associated with the outcome variable. Adjusted Odds ratios with 95% CI were computed to measure the strength of association and statistical significance was declared at p-value <0.05. Results The Prevalence of institutional delivery in the study area was 38% (34%-42%). Factors significantly associated with institutional delivery were ANC visit 1.80 (1.12–2.91), knowledge of danger sign during pregnancy 3.60 (2.25–5.76), urban residency 2.09 (1.15–3.81), Parity 0.49 (0.25–0.95) accessibility of health facility 4.60 (2.01–10.89), husbands educational level: primary 2.50 (1.27–4.91), secondary and above 2.36 (1.24–4.48), mothers occupation: governmental employee 2.05 (1.00–4.18), and Private employee 2.42 (1.09–5.35). Conclusions The prevalence of institutional delivery in the District was low. Antenatal visits, residency, knowledge of pregnancy danger signs, parity, and accessibility of health facilities, maternal occupation, and husband education were factors significantly associated with institutional delivery.

Abstract:
SUMMARYGenotype by environment interaction is a common phenomenon in crop production and remains an important issue in genotype evaluation and recommendation. However, no detailed multi-environment evaluation of Ethiopian white lupin has been undertaken so far. Thus, this study was undertaken with the objectives to evaluate the performance and stability of white lupin landraces in six locations; and characterize white lupin growing environments in Ethiopia. Twelve white lupin landrace collections of Ethiopia were evaluated across six different locations in Ethiopia during the 2014/15 main growing season using a randomized complete block design with four replications. The genotype main effect plus genotype by environment interaction (GGE) biplots analysis was used to visualize the patterns of the interaction components. The results depicted that the tested landraces had differential performances across locations implying the presence of crossover interaction. The first two principal components (PC1 = 41.6% and PC2 = 21.8%) of the GGE explained 63.4% of the GGE sum of squares. All test locations were found to be representative with different degrees of reliability whereby Finote Selam and Dibate were found to be most representative. In addition, all test locations, except Mandura and Injibara, had generally similar and good discriminating power. Finote Selam and Dibate were found to be the most representative and discriminating environments and are characterized as most desirable test locations for white lupin improvement in northwestern Ethiopia. G2 was found to be the highest yielding and most stable landrace across the test environments, and hence identified as most desirable genotype recommended for production.

Abstract:
Abstract Anemia is a major global public health issue that mostly affects young children, menstruating adolescent girls and women, and pregnant and postpartum women. The most typical kind of anemia worldwide is iron deficiency anemia (IDA). According to a World Health Organization report, IDA accounts for half of all cases of anemia. The emphasis is moving toward investigating alternative therapy modalities as a result of an expanding amount of data on the adverse effects and long-term implications of conventional treatments for IDA. Ayurveda offers several formulations for the management of IDA. This study will provide the strength of evidance based Ayurveda herble remedies to manage the IDA by the review of published clinical trials which has been competed. Data searches were conducted using databases, including Medline, Cochrane Database, Embase, AYUSH research portal, and many others. All randomized controlled trials involving individuals with IDA using Ayurveda formulations (alone or in combination) with an exposure period of ≥4 weeks were included. The primary outcome assessed was hemoglobin levels. Ten clinical studies were selected, evaluating various Ayurvedic formulations including Aamalki Rasayan, Dhatri Avleha, Dhatri Lauha, Opuntia elatior juice, Trikatrayadi Lauha suspension, Dhatryarishta, Trikatrayadi Lauha, Kasisa Bhasma, Punarnava Mandura, and Pandughni Vati, all of which were found effective in treating IDA. No untoward effects were observed. Most of the Ayurvedic formulations showed statistically significant improvements in subjective and hematological parameters. From this review, it can be concluded that the results of clinical studies conducted on IDA demonstrate the definite role of Ayurveda medication in managing the condition.

Abstract:
Tujuh cakra itu yaitu : Cakra Sahasrara (Cakra Mahkota), Ajna Cakra (Cakra Mata Ketiga/kening), Wisudha Cakra (Cakra Tenggorokan), Anahata Cakra (Cakra Jantung), Manipura Cakra (Cakra Pusar), Swadistana Cakra (Cakra Kelamin), Muladara Cakra (Cakra Tulang Ekor).

Abstract:
Previously, a corticotropin releasing factor (CRF)-like diuretic peptide (Manduca-DH) has been isolated from Manduca sexta and shown to stimulate fluid excretion in vivo in post-eclosion Pieris rapae adults and in pre-wandering postfeeding Manduca sexta larvae. However, Manduca- DH was reported to have no effect on Malpighian tubules in vitro. Manduca-DH and [Nle2,11]-Manduca-DH were synthesized in Texas and assayed in London on isolated Malpighian tubules of Acheta domesticus. Manduca- DH stimulated fluid secretion by about 60% of the maximum response achievable with extracts of corpora cardiaca and increased the production of cyclic AMP. In combination with 10−4 mol l−1 3-isobutyl-l-methyl xanthine (IBMX), Manduca-DH stimulated maximal secretion. A number of CRF-related peptides also stimulated fluid secretion and cyclic AMP production in cricket tubules, and the CRF antagonist α-helical-CRF[9-14] blocked the stimulation of fluid secretion by Manduca-DH. [Nle2,11]-Manduca-DH was more active than Manduca-DH in both assays, suggesting that methionine residues in the natural peptide may become oxidized. Taken in conjunction with previous in vivo studies, the present findings suggest that a Manduca-DH-Mke diuretic peptide is the hormone controlling post-eclosion diuresis in butterflies, and Manduca-DH was shown to stimulate both fluid secretion and cyclic AMP production in Malpighian tubules from 1–12 h posteclosion Pieris rapae adults. The function of the peptide in Manduca sexta is discussed.

The data was obtained directly through the source of Sandur Manduro performing arts in Manduro Village, Kabuh, Jombang, East Java. The process of data collection has been carried out by unstructured and open-ended interviews through actors, ancestors, and audiences. As a result, amid the bewilderment of constructing the Oreng Manduro’s origin, Sandur has clearly projected how pluralism, the values of obedience, and portraits of agrarian society integrate with this performing art. These aspects actually have shown the cultural identity of the Manduro people.

Abstract:
The traditional theater performing art, Sandur Manduro which originated from the people’s spontaneity of Manduro Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency, is formed by their life cycle. Numerous artistic components, including Fine Arts, Literary Arts, Musical Arts, and Dance arts, may be found in Sandur Manduro. However, the ritualistic purpose of Sandur Manduro's art is currently experiencing a decline in performances. Three (3) issues need to be addressed, including 1) Its performing duration lasts for about roughly eight hours, 2). Sandur Manduro, whose initial acts as a ritual function of Ngudari Kata may turn into a performance/entertainment function, 3) there is no regeneration for the older players of Sandur Manduro. Through the Community Partnership Program (PKM), it is expected to be an independent performance by revitalizing it into an art of tourism and training it to the younger generations of Manduro Village. To revitalize this, the authors adopted Adolph S. Tomars's conceptual framework of Tourism Art that is: 1) Compaction, 2) copy of the original, 3) elimination of sacred and symbolic values for glamorous, 4) diversity, and 5) affordability.
