Removal of manganese (II) ions from wastewater by H2O2as oxidant was studied. Effects of reaction temperature, hydrogen peroxide concentration, reaction time and calcium oxide concen-tration on the manganese removal were investigated. The results indicated that the removal rate of manganese exceeded 99.9% and the Mn (II) ions concentration of treated wastewater was lower than 0.1 mg·L-1under the conditions of reaction temperature 55 °C, concentration of H2O20.1 mL·L-1, reaction time 70 min, concentration of CaO 0.25 g·L-1.

This research is mainly to explore functional improvement by adding various kinds of metallic ions in the ozonation of 2-chlorophenol solution. During the experiment, various kinds of metallic ions (Pb+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, Ti2+, and Mn2+) were added; it was found that the reaction rate increased in all cases. The best result was obtained by using manganese ions, followed by iron and titanium ions. At pH = 3 and 1 ppm Mn2+ concentration, the reaction rate was increased by three times. TOC removal rate was also increased from 12.6% to 38% at 60 min reaction time. Ozone self-decomposition with var

It has been seen in the previous chapter that, when organic reducing substances are in contact with soils, iron and manganese oxides of the soil can be reduced, producing ferrous and manganous ions. This reduction process is of particular significance for variable charge soils. This is because the contents of iron and manganese oxides in these soils are higher than those in constant charge soils, and therefore there is the basis for the production of large amounts of ferrous and manganous ions. Although we now know there are at least 118 elements, of which 98 are naturally occurring, these ancient descriptions aptly describe the habitats on Earth that are occupied by oxides and living things. Many oxides that comprise Earth’s surface are born by the fire represented by the massive heat of Earth’s interior as mediated by plate tectonics.
