Abstract:
The growth process and corrosion resistance of the phosphate coating on 25Cr2Ni4WA alloy steel fabricated by a high temperature manganese phosphating were investigated by XRD, SEM, EDS and electrochemical polarization method, respectively. It is found that the phosphate coating consists of lots of close packed lump crystallites and mainly composed of (Mn,Fe)5H2(PO4)4·4H2O. The coating weight increased rapidly, and then the increase rate slowed down when phosphating process was carried for about 5 min. The corrosion potentials of the phosphated steel shifted positively about 250 mV than the bar

Such industries use phosphate conversion coatings on galvanized steels in association with cataphoretic electropainting. In order to decrease the degradation rate of magnesium (Mg) alloys for the potential orthopedic applications, manganese-calcium phosphate coatings were prepared on an Mg-Ca-Zn alloy in calcium phosphating solutions with different addition of Mn2+. Influence of Mn content on degradation behaviors of phosphate coatings in the simulated body fluid was investigated to obtain the optimum coating. With the increasing Mn addition, the corrosion resistance of the manganese-calcium phosphate coatings was gradually improved. The optimum coating prepared in solution containing 0.05 mol/L Mn2+ had a unifo

Inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) is crucial for adaptive reactions and stress response in microorganisms. A convenient model to study the role of polyP in yeast is the Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain CRN/PPN1 that overexpresses polyphosphatase Ppn1 with stably decreased polyphosphate level. In this study, we combined the whole-transcriptome sequencing, fluorescence microscopy, and polyP quantification to characterize the CRN/PPN1 response to manganese and oxidative stresses. CRN/PPN1 exhibits enhanced resistance to manganese and peroxide due to its pre-adaptive state observed in normal conditio

Abstract A novel red pigment, sodium manganese phosphate (NaMnPO4), imitating natrophilite, was synthesized from manganese carbonate by heating under various conditions. The powders obtained were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible reflectance spectroscopy, and L*a*b* color space. Samples synthesized at 500-800 °C presented XRD patterns associated with NaMnPO4. By heating at a higher temperature, the samples exhibited lighter color. The sample synthesized at 700 °C indicated the highest a* value. Furthermore, the effects of varying relat

Methods of chemical preparation and crystallographic data are reported for four new condensed phosphates: one hydrated cyclotriphosphate MnAg4(P3O9)2·6H2O and three long-chain polyphosphates: MnAg2(PO3)4, NiAg4(PO3)6 and NiNa4(PO3)6. Two of these new condensed phosphates, associated with manganese, belong to previously investigated structure types.

AbstractNatural laterite can be regarded as a strong adsorbent due to its special structure and composition. In this study, the laterite was modified by manganese oxide (MnO2) to create a new good adsorbent for treating phosphate and fluoride in water environment. Under the optimized conditions of the adsorbent dose (pH 6, temperature 20°C, and the contact time 180 min), laterite, doped manganese, with diameter of grains from 0.1 to 0.5 mm has maximum adsorption capacity of 31.25 mg/g and 10.99 mg/g for phosphate and fluoride, respectively. Surface modification is an important method to improve the contact fatigue life of transmission parts. The preparation of high performance coating with good tribological properties on the gears and bearings has become the research trends. This paper presents graphite/MoS2 composite spray and manganese phosphate conversion coating prepared on the AISI52100 steel surface and investigates their anti-fatigue mechanism. The tribological properties of the modified layers were studied using a SRV-IV multifunctional friction and wear tester. The microstructure and interfacial components of the coating
