Abstract:
Rubber seed shell (RSS) and Palm Oil Fronds (POF) are types of solid waste produced from rubber and palm oil plantation that has not been fully utilized. Meanwhile, in the automotive industry, composites have been the material of choice in some of its components. For example, composite body panels have been widely used in sports cars and passenger cars. This study aimed to utilize RSS powder and POF fiber waste as reinforcing fillers for the composite matrix. The matrix used was liquid polyester resin with the addition of catalyst as a hardener. RSS, which has been carbonized, was then activat

Mangifera odorata fruit, the hybrid forms between M. indica (mango) and M. foetida (bacang), has been shown to exhibit potential antioxidant activity, and the fruit waste could demonstrate functional and nutritional potential. In the present study, the nutritional composition (proximate, sugars, vitamins and minerals analyses), the anti-diabetic activities and phytochemical profile of M. odorata peel and seed kernel were investigated for the first time. The results indicated that seed kernel rich in fat, protein, carbohydrate, and ash while peel contained significantly greater amount of fiber,

Along with the growing public awareness of personal and environmental health, lipa sabbe products with natural colors are increasingly popular. Natural dyes are advantageous because they do not need to be imported, are safe for human health during the manufacturing process, do not pollute the environment, and are safe. Although synthetic dyes are easier to use, they are harmful to health, produce hazardous waste, pollute the environment, and are made from imported materials. This study aims to determine the types of plants that can be used as natural dyes for lipa sabbe. Qualitative methods wi

Connecting pipe systems and pressure vessels requires bolted flanged joints. One of the most frequent reasons why bolted flanged joints leak is corrosion of the flange surface. This research investigates the corrosion resistance of composite bolted flanges made of Momordica angustisepala fiber (MAF) and breadfruit seed-shell particles (BFSAp). The result shows 100% polarization resistance with a corrosion rate of 0.00 mil per year was obtained for the developed composite. This shows that the corrosion problem of a metallic bolted flange can be reduced using the developed composite.

In this study, mango seed shell (MS)-based hybrid composite and composite beads (FeCl3-NaBH4/MS and Na-Alginate/MS) were designed. Batch and column experimental analyses were performed for the uptake of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) from wastewater. The physicochemical characteristics of both composites were also examined. From the batch adsorption experiments, the best adsorption capacities of 28.77 mg/g and 27.42 mg/g were observed in basic media (pH 9–10) at 308 K for FeCl3-NaBH4/MS and 333 K for Na-Alginate/MS with 25 mg/L of 2,4,6-TCP concentration for 120 min. Bambangan (Mangifera pajang) is a fruit belonging to the Anacardiaceae family, which is a lesser-known member of the mango family. It is native to West Malaysia, namely in Sabah and Sarawak. This fruit possesses a significant amount of dietary fiber, is rich in juice, and emits a strong smell. Typically, around 35-40% of the fruit's total weight, which includes the peel and seed, is discarded as waste. Mangiferin, a xanthone C-glucoside possessing notable antioxidant and antibacterial characteristics, is predominantly present in the foliage of mango plants. This study employed ultrasonic-assis
