Abstract:
The issue of race, identity, and multiculturalism are focal points in modern novels. K. S. Maniam, as an Indian-Malaysian as such, explains the same question again in his writings. There is a longing or rather a forlorn look at India as the Motherland of some of the Indians in Malaysia in the setting of K. S. Maniam’s stories. The novel does not provide a complete recovery of the original country; it is instead giving a deep insight into finding out a connection to the place one settles in. In a Far Country is a typical example of the modern chaotic world through which Maniam sheds light on it. The research aims to analyse the redefinition of identity and determining race. It is also to explore the choices between a native and nonnative value in a foreign land. Under the analysis, Homi Bahbah’s theory of hybridity is chosen for the study of the novel. It is a significant and difficult step at the same time to reinvent one’s identity through a hybrid culture or rather to be called “reinvented” when the final solution fails and instead “reinvention” shapes a new identity.

In Malaysia, the influence of the hegemonic or ‘authority-defined’ discourse on nation appears so pervasive that it obscures the fact that ‘national’ and ‘ethnic’ identities are in fact highly contested concepts or categories. There is a need, therefore, to examine alternative constructions of ethnic and national identity where dominant notions are challenged, reconstituted and problematized. In keeping with recent developments in critical and literary theory, this article examines selected works of a leading Malaysian novelist, K. S. Maniam, to argue that it is his commitment to the cultural politics of diaspora that problematizes state constructions of a coherent or homogeneous Malaysian identity.

Abstract:
According to Peyre (1948:21), the fathers and forefathers of existentialism were mostly Germans, but it was adapted and transformed by the French and was re-exported to the rest of the world. Peyre’s inference reduces the history of existentialism to a nutshell. Existentialism can be defined as an intellectual movement that reflects all aspects of modern life. In literature, this theory acts as a useful approach to analysing literary works in order to make sense of the complexities, contradictions and dilemmas surrounding the characters. The purpose of this research paper is to study the novel of Subramaniam Krishnan, popularly known as K. S. Maniam, an Indian Malaysian academic and novelist, from an existentialist perspective. His novels deal with the lives and problems of the post-colonial Indian Diaspora in Malaysia. In 2000, he received the Raja Rao Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Literature of the South Asian Diaspora. His first novel ‘The Return’ is an autobiographical novel which deals with cultural struggle and cultural identity. This novel will be analysed from an existential perspective.

1. Detection of nonthermal optical flares in low mass X-ray binaries. Eleven low-mass X-ray binaries have been observed with the MANIA (Multichannel Analysis of Nanoseconds Intensity Alteration) complex; X0420+32, A0620-00, X1728–169, X1813–14, X1957+11 in 1986 at the 6 m telescope of SAO [7], and 2S0921–630, 4U1543–475, 4U1636–536, 4U1559–487, MXB1735–44, 4U1822–371 in 1991 at the 2.15 m telescope of CASLEO (Argentina) [1]. Analysis of the data using the special y2 and d2 function formalism [4], [6] has shown no brightness variations on time-scales of 10−7... 10 s for all objects except A0620–00 and MXB1735–44.A0620–00. The five millisecond flashes were detected on 1986 February 13 (Fig. 1). The first two flares have durations of 3 ms and 5 ms and their rise times were 1...2 ms. The other three events lasted 0.4…0.5 ms with rise times of about 0.1 ms. The lower limit of the flare amplitudes is 40 counts ms−1 and the corresponding brightness temperatures are 5 109 K for the first two and 5 1011 K for the others.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to see whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement. The study respondents were B.Tech first year students from the Agra region. Sampling is stratified, making sure that gender, race, socioeconomic status, and abilities are appropriately represented. The respondents are given Emotional Intelligence Inventory (EII–MM), developed by S. K. Mangal and Shubhra Mangal. It consists of 100 items under four scales .The analysis suggests that there is a significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Achievement. IQ alone is no more the measure for success; emotional intelligence, social intelligence, and luck also play a big role in a person's success. This study contributes in acknowledging the fact that even engineering students’ academic achievements are attached with Emotional intelligence. Thus, teaching emotional and social skills only at the school level is not sufficient; this can be taught in engineering studies, as well for accomplishing high academic achievements.

Abstract Human’s motion and its mechanisms had become interesting in the last years, where the medecine’s field search for rehabilitation methods for handicapped persons. Other fields, like sport sciences, professional or military world, search to distinguish profiles and ways to train them with specific purposes. Besides, recent findings in neuroscience try to describe these mechanisms from an organic point of view. Until now, different researchs had given a model about control motor that describes how the union between the senses’s information allows adaptable movements. One of this sense is the proprioception, the sense which has a quite big factor in the orientation and position of the body, its members and joints. For this reason, research for new strategies to explore proprioception and improve the theories of human motion could be done by three different vias. At first, the sense is analysed in a case-study where three groups of persons are compared in a controlled enviroment with three experimental tasks. The subjects belong to each group by the kind of sport they do: sedentary, normal sportsmen (e.g. athletics, swimming) and martial sportmen (e.g. karate, judo). They are compared thinking about the following hypothesis: “Martial Sportmen have a better proprioception than of the other groups’s subjects: It could be due to the type of exercises they do in their sports as empirically, a contact sportsman shows significantly superior motor skills to the members of the other two groups. The second via are records from encephalogram (EEG) while the experimental tasks are doing. These records are analised a posteriori with a set of processing algorithms to extract characteristics about brain’s activity of the proprioception and motion control. Finally , the study tries to integrate graphic tools to make easy to understand final scientific results which allow us to explore the brain activity of the subjects through easy interfaces (e.g. space-time events, activity intensity, connectivity, specific neural netwoks or anormal activity). In the future, this application could be a complement to assist doctors, researchers, sports center specialists and anyone who must improve the health and movements of handicapped persons. Abstract In the greenfield development process, one of the key questions that needs to be answered is, "What is the range of EUR for a particular development concept and the associated completion method based on the existing range of subsurface uncertainties?" The key challenge then is how can the team forecast a representative range of EUR efficiently to obtain a range of results that represent a probabilistic outcome. During the reservoir modelling process of this case study, a total of 405 static realizations had been run and then a STOIIP S-curve was generated. In the next step, 20 cases each of "High, Mid and Low" static models were selected based on the S-curve distribution for the next phase of dynamic simulation due to time and resources constraint. In terms of completion, the same development concept and completion method is assumed, where each dynamic case requires 8 horizontal producing wells with 200 metres of completion interval. Wells placement aside, each of the 60 dynamic models should not have the same fixed perforation depths and intervals due to the geological uncertainties with regards to facies distribution and they need to be selected based on the well effective k-h and hydrocarbon saturation along each well trajectory. Manual work could be used to analyse the best intervals for each of the planned wells, or in this case, this laborious process was replaced with an automated selection of the optimum completion interval workflow using Python script. This paper will show the workflow of how a scripted Python code is designed to provide an "automated moving window" to find the best intervals along a well trajectory. This workflow was executed in the pre-processor of the dynamic simulator which has a workflow window with Python-embedded capability. The Python code then generated the simulation keyword COMPDATMD, which contained the best perforation intervals for all the wells as an output. This automated workflow resulted in an optimization of the completion intervals in all the 60 dynamic model cases, while the ultimate recovery for this greenfield development in Peninsula Malaysia increased by 30% compared to EUR from previously "unoptimized runs". This approach is managed to cut down the run preparation time by at least two weeks compared to the manual solution. The improved range of EUR is also considered as a more representative outcome of the field development evaluation. Utilizing emerging technology breakthrough such as ability to customize specific features via a programming language is important towards a successful era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The results of this automated and customized workflow automation demonstrate a successful application of using machine learning for enhanced problem-solving in reservoir simulation.
