It is well known that Foulkes acknowledged Karl Mannheim as the first to use the term `group analysis'. However, Mannheim's work is otherwise not well known. Abstract:

The paper presents a critical examination of the theoretical underpinnings of ideology research of Karl Mannheim. The paper examines the concepts of totality, existence and free-floating intelligentsia and points to the consequences and limits inherent to Mannheims’ approach. Through the analysis of Lukacs’ definition of the concept of totality, as well as his thoughts on the relation between theory and praxis, we put forward a different approach to ideology research, freed from problems observed in Mannheims’ theory. In this paper, we study cylindrical helices, Mannheim curves and Darboux developable surfaces associated to Mannheim curves. We give a method for constructing Mannheim curves from spherical curves and demonstrate that all Mannheim curves can be constructed by such a way. In this paper, we define null Cartan and pseudo null Mannheim curves in Minkowski 3-space according to their Bishop frames. We obtain the necessary and the sufficient conditions for pseudo null curves to be Mannheim B-curves in terms of their Bishop curvatures. We prove that there are no null Cartan curves in Minkowski 3-space which are Mannheim B-curves, by considering the cases when their Mannheim B-mate curves are spacelike, timelike, null Cartan and pseudo null curves. In a recent works Liu and Wang (2008; 2007) study the Mannheim partner curves in the three dimensional space. In this paper, we extend the theory of the Mannheim curves to ruled surfaces and define two ruled surfaces which are offset in the sense of Mannheim. It is shown that, every developable ruled surface have a Mannheim offset if and only if an equation should be satisfied between the geodesic curvature and the arc-length of spherical indicatrix of it. Moreover, we obtain that the Mannheim offset of developable ruled surface is constant distance from it. Finally, examples are also given.

We consider the Mannheim curves in nonflat 3-dimensional space forms (Riemannian or Lorentzian) and we give the concept of Mannheim curves. In addition, we investigate the properties of nonnull Mannheim curves and their partner curves. We come to the conclusion that a necessary and sufficient condition is that a linear relationship with constant coefficients will exist between the curvature and the torsion of the given original curves. In this paper, the quasi-frame and quasi-formulas are introduced in Galilean three-space. In addition, the quasi-Bertrand and the quasi-Mannheim curves are studied. It is proven that the angle between the tangents of two quasi-Bertrand or quasi-Mannhiem curves is not constant. Furthermore, the quasi-involute is studied. Moreover, we prove that there is no quasi-evolute curve in Galilean three-space. Also, we introduce quasi-Smarandache curves in Galilean three-space. Finally, we demonstrate an illustrated example to present our findings.

Abstract:

In this paper we study Bertrand and Mannheim partner -curves on parallel surface. Using the definition of parallel surfaces, first we find images of two curves lying on two different surfaces and satisfying the conditions to be Bertrand partner -curve or Mannheim partner -curve. Then we obtain relationships between Bertrand and Mannheim partner -curves and their image curves.

Firstly, relationships between geodesic Frenet trihedrons of Mannheim offsets of ruled surfaces are obtained and the relationship between the curvatures of the surface pairs is examined.
