Sedan en lång tid tillbaka har datorn haft en stor och betydande roll i skolans värld och många anser att den är ett bra hjälpmedel att använda sig av i undervisningen. Så därför väljer många skolor numera att koppla ihop datorn med den så kallade digitala skrivtavlan för att på ett nytt sätt komma åt och skapa lärande. Skolan har som uppdrag från olika håll, men framför allt ifrån Lgr 11 att de har i ansvar att lära eleverna att hantera modern teknik. Den digitala skrivtavlan ger stora möjligheter till detta, samt att den bidrar till utveckling och variation i undervisningen. I Sverige finns idag inte många studier kring den digitala skrivtavlan men med det som finns och tillsammans med annan tidigare forskning från andra världsdelar har jag valt att ur ett sociokulturellt samt ett dialogperspektiv titta närmare på de relationer och interaktioner som sker och uppstår vid användandet av den digitala skrivtavlan, samt hur vi skapar och ökar en djupare förståelse vid inlärning med visuell kommunikationsteknik, som den digitala skrivtavlan kan räknas in i. Till detta har jag valt att göra en observation och titta närmare på hur lärare samt elevers relationer och interaktioner i en klass kan se ut och påverkas i användandet av den digitala skrivtavlan. Jag gjorde observationen i en årskurs 2:a under ett flertal lektioner och jag tycktes se att lärarens och elevernas relationssamspel blev starkare. Gällande elevernas interaktion med den digitala skrivtavlan kunde jag se att de var aktiva under alla lektioner, genom att det fick både trycka samt skriva på den digitala skrivtavlan. Men det jag också kom fram till under observationen och tillsammans med tidigare forskning är att det är viktigt att de sker samtal för att lärande ska ske och det kan bara ske om läraren ger de språkliga verktyg som behövs genom att vara förberedd med bra och genomtänka pedagogiska modeller som kan ses och genomföras på den digitala skrivtavlan.

<p>We have, within the last years, witnessed horrifying tragedies within the transportation domain. Planes fall down, trains crash, boats sink, and car accidents are one of the most frequent causes of death throughout the world.</p><p>What is more, technology seems also to fail in settings that are more mundane. In his book "the trouble with computers: Usefulness, usability, and productivity", T.K. Landauer shows that the productivity has, within the western world, decreased by about 50% from the period 1950-1973 to the period from 1973 to 1993, and claims that this effect is mostly due to the introduction of technology. Even closer to home, technology is still anxiety provoking for most people. One of many everyday observations to support this fact can be seen at the airports. Have you wondered why most people line up, even for hours, without daring to go near the automatic check-in machines?</p><p>What has become of the grandiose promises from the heydays of artificial intelligence? What happened to the mind-machines of Newell and Simon? Where is HAL 9000? The distance between the massive technology positivism observed in the west, and the contemporary role of technology in the society, is, I believe, one of the largest paradoxes of our time.</p><p>What is particularly interesting to note, is that the parody of the AI of the 60s, seems to be recycled every now and again, both within entertainment, the financial world, and within academia. At the turn of the century, we have seen the popularity of movies like The Matrix, we have seen high hopes become sober reality at NASDAQ, and the reductionism of Newell and Simon is alive and well, in disguise of the magic buzzword connectionism. Universities around the world are now buying MRI – scanners on the thousands. We are, yet again (!), on the verge of discovering the mysteries of the mind.</p><p>The slogan "Vorsprung Durch Technic" used by Audi displays something that lies deep within the western mind, namely the tendency to define ourselves and our culture in terms the inherent qualities of technology; precision, logic, rationality, reliability, punctuality, determination and power. Technology is, in many respects, the totem of the western culture. Maybe this thesis should have been about Techno-Totemism. But it is not.</p><p>This thesis, on the other hand, attempts to explore what technology might have looked like, had it not been for techno-totemism, i.e. the prevailing idea within western culture and sciences, that humans are literally machines. This notion makes engineers design technological products as if humans actually were machines, or worse imperfect machines. The imperfect machine metaphor leads directly to the notion of "human error", which is often used in a particularly stupid fashion.</p><p>In this work I lean, on the contrary, on aspects of human cognition that are not machine-like whatsoever, and advocate a change in design focus, from an emphasis on technology to an emphasis on ecology. I have attempted to present my programme positively; that is, to give indications on how, in practical, real life settings, such an approach might be carried out. At certain points, however, it has been necessary to point out the difference of my approach from the traditional cognitive-based Human Factors tradition, to make my points explicit. I apologize to cognitivists and human factors specialists for occasionally making a straw man of their theory. There are many excellent contributions made by these traditions, which are not reflected in this thesis.</p>

Internet, automation, digitalisering och liknande tillverkningsteknologier som associeras med Industri 4.0, eller den fjärde industriella revolutionen, håller på att förändra sättet som tillverkningsindustrier styr hela sin produktionskedja. De nya teknikerna som inkapslas av Industri 4.0-paradigmet har genererat nya smarta sätt för att effektivisera produktionen och samtidigt spara in på resurser. Men denna revolution har genererat utmaningar, liksom förmåner, inte minst för de individer som jobbar inom den industriella sektorn. I denna studie undersöks hur operatörer inom tillverkningsindustrin upplever och anpassar sig till denna typ av nya teknologi på sina arbetsplatser. Vad för typ av utmaningar och möjligheter har upplevts av de människor som står i direkt kontakt med dessa nya typer av innovationer. För att besvara denna fråga, genomfördes intervjuer med operatörer på två fabriker inom tillverkningsindustrin där ny teknologi införts och påverkat produktionskedjan. Totalt åtta operatörer, varav fem från Fabrik A och tre från Fabrik B, intervjuades genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer. Detta i syfte att generera insikt i upplevelsen av automation, internettjänster och övriga digitala hjälpmedel i arbetsuppgifter som tidigare utförts utan det. Genom metoden för grundad teori kodades och tolkades den insamlade intervjudatan och kategorier kunde bildas. Resultaten visade att det fanns ett stort behov av tydligt kommunicerad information gällande ny teknik och nya arbetssätt. Resultaten indikerar att det finns mycket utvecklingspotential när det kommer till hur operatörer underrättas om nya innovationer i deras arbete. Vidare drogs slutsatsen att det krävs en gemensam förståelse för nya systemuppdateringar och förändringar, för att dessa ska mottas och hanteras på ett bra sätt. Ur analysen framställdes en modell över de utmaningar och möjligheter som industriföretag står inför vid implementation av smarta system i sin produktion, ur de anställdas perspektiv.

This project has been carried out in cooperation with Volvo Construction Equipment. A new control intended to give an intuitive understanding for the new generation of operators of how to handle the motor grader has been developed. The project includes parts of the development process, idea to finished concept. The project started with a thorough study of the functions of motor graders not only those built by Volvo but also those from the biggest competitors. Interviews were made with operators about today’s and future controls of graders. In comparison the competitors seem to offer better controls both from ergonomic and cognitive points of view. Hitherto too little interest has been focused by design engineers in problems of the operators. Operators are exposed to wear and tear when driving the graders and they also have difficulties driving the machines all because of the design of the manoeuvring device. From the start to the final concept a great variety of people has been involved in this project e.g. young and old operators, scientists and constructors resulting in a large spread of ideas. The final concept is a new thinking control with respect to the combination of functionality, ergonomics and intuitivety.<br>Detta projekt har gjorts i samarbete med Volvo Construction Equipment. En ny kontroll har utvecklats som syftar till att ge en intuitiv förståelse för nästa generations väghyvelförare om hur väghyveln hanteras. Projektet inkluderar delar av designprocessen, idé till färdigt koncept. Projektet inleddes med en grundlig studie av väghyvelns funktioner, inte bara de som Volvo tillhandahåller utan även konkurrenternas. Intervjuer hölls med operatörer med frågor om dagens manövrering och framtida lösningar. I jämförelse förefaller det som att konkurrenterna tillhandahåller bättre lösningar på kontrollen ur ergonomiska och kognitiva perspektiv. Tidigare har de problem som operatören upplever inte varit i fokus i produktutvecklingsprocessen. Operatörer riskerar förslitningsskador när de kör väghyveln. De har, på grund av utformningen av styrenheten, även svårigheter att manövrera väghyveln samtidigt som de kör. Redan från start har en stor variation av människor varit inblandade i projektet t.ex. yngre och äldre förare, forskare och konstruktörer. Detta har resulterat i en stor spridning av idéer. Slutkonceptet är en nytänkande kontroll med avseende på kombination av funktionalitet, ergonomi och intuitivitet.

Driving a heavy-duty distribution truck in an urban environment is an intricate task that requires atremendous effort from the driver. Even a minor error such as briefly looking away from the road for asecond could have fatal consequences. The automotive industry is heavily investing into making roads saferand innovations such as the seat belt has been able to save millions of lives. With the introduction of new lawsand regulation there is an emerging adaptation of driver monitoring systems in vehicles which aims to savemore lives and improve the driving experience. This master thesis presents the exploration and design of a holistic concept for how driver state monitoringcould be implemented in a manual heavy-duty distribution truck in the year of 2035 at Scania. The mainpurpose is to add value to drivers by finding solutions that bridge driver needs and monitoring technology.Driver state monitoring is a field that introduces abilities for the vehicle to connect and understand the driverin order to provide more efficient assists for a safer and more pleasurable driving experience. An iterative usercentered design process was initialized with user interviews, observations and literature reviews that resulted inan in-depth view of the driver’s needs and a summary of the latest research and innovations. A creative phasegenerated multiple ideas that where evaluated using qualitative feedback from drivers and experts. A final setof features was selected and by using 3D modelling and video editing, an eight minute long animated film wascreated that showcases the possibilities of driver state monitoring in a heavy-duty distribution truck in 2035. The final concept is a unified vision of 22 features in a heavy-duty electric distribution truck, utilizing hybriddriver state monitoring techniques in order to provide a safer and more pleasurable driving experience. It isinspired and created around the latest research and innovations in the automotive industry and aims to inspireScania in their future work to implement and innovate new solutions based on driver state monitoring. This isa thesis work by two Master of Science student within Industrial Design Engineering from Luleå University ofTechnology at Scania in the spring of 2020.<br>Att köra en distributionslastbil i stadsmiljö är en komplicerad uppgift som kräver en stor insats från föraren. Till och med ett litet misstag som att titta bort från vägen under en kort period kan få katastrofala följder.Fordonsindustrin investerar mycket inom säkerhet och innovationer som säkerhetsbältet har väldigtframgångsrikt bidragit till att rädda miljontals liv på vägarna. I och med nya lagar implementeras system ifordon som bevakar föraren, med målet att rädda fler liv och skapa en bättre körupplevelse. Det här examensarbetet syftar till att designa ett helhetskoncept som visar hur bevakning av föraren kanimplementeras i en manuell distributionslastbil på Scania år 2035. Det huvudsakliga målet är att skapa värdeför förarna genom att hitta lösningar som bryggar gapet mellan förarnas behov och tekniken som möjliggörbevakning av föraren. Genom att introducera denna typ av förarbevakningsteknik ges möjligheten förfordonet att bättre förstå sig på föraren, vilket i sin tur möjliggör ökad säkerhet och bättre körupplevelser. Eniterativ och användarcentrerad designprocess användes och inleddes med intervjuer, observationer och enlitteraturstudie, vilket resulterade i en djup förståelse för förarnas behov samt en summering av den senasteforskningen och innovationerna. En kreativ fas genererade en mängd idéer som sedan utvärderas med hjälp avkvalitativ feedback från både förare och experter. Ett slutligt urval av funktioner togs fram och visualiseradesgenom att skapa en animerad film. Den färdiga åtta minuter långa filmen visar på möjligheterna med tekniksom bevakar föraren i en distributionslastbil år 2035. Det slutliga konceptet förenar 22 funktioner i en elektrisk distributionslastbil. Ett flertal tekniker utnyttjas föratt bevaka föraren och tillsammans bidrar de till en säkrare och mer njutbar körupplevelse. Konceptet ärinspirerat av- och bygger på den senaste forskningen och de senaste innovationerna inom fordonsindustrin,med målet att inspirera Scania i framtida projekt där förarbevakningssystem utvecklas och implementeras.Detta arbete är ett examensarbete gjort av två civilingenjörsstudenter inom tekniks design från Luleå tekniskauniversitet på Scania under våren 2020.

SAAB has a project under development for a network system with connected nodes, where the nodes are both information consumer and producer of different communication types. A node is an equipment or an object that are used by the army e.g. it can be a soldier, military hospital or an UAV. The nodes function as a part of a mission e.g. a mission can be Defend Gotland. The aim of this project is that the user will rank different missions from the one with the highest priority to the lowest. This will affect the network in a way that the communication between the nodes at the mission with the highest rank will be prioritised over the communication between the underlying missions. A user can via the GUI rank the missions, and then set the associated settings for them. Via the GUI the user should be able to work at three different levels. The first is to plan upcoming missions. The second one is in real time see if the system delivers the desired conditions. The last one is to simulate if the system can deliver the desired conditions. This thesis investigated various HCI models that could be used to create a GUI, to reduce the risk of a user configuring the system incorrectly. The study showed that there are no HCI models that take account for misconfigurations, and therefore a new model was created. The new model was used and evaluated by creating a prototype of a GUI for SAAB’s project and was tested on a potential user. The test showed that the new model reduced the risk of misconfigurations.<br>SAAB har ett projekt för utveckling av ett nätverkssystem med anslutande noder, med noder som kan vara både informationsproducent och konsument för olika kommunikationstyper. En nod är en sak eller ett objekt inom försvaret t.ex. kan det vara en soldat, militärt sjukhus eller en obemannad farkost. Varje nod tillhör ett uppdrag, tex att försvara Gotland. Målet med projektet är att man ska kunna gradera de olika uppdragen och därmed gradera vilken prioritet dessa noder har i nätet. Noder som tillhör ett uppdrag med hög gradering kommer prioriteras över de underliggande uppdragen i nätverket. En användare kan via ett grafiskt användargränssnitt gradera uppdragen och konfigurera tillhörande inställningar. Via det grafiska användargränssnittet kan en användare även planera, gradera och konfigurera inställningar för kommande uppdrag samt simulera om det går att genomföra. Användaren ska även i realtid kunna se om de önskade inställningarna inte kan leva upp till de önskade kraven, och därmed kunna åtgärda detta.  Detta arbete undersökte olika MMI-modeller som kan användas för att skapa ett grafiskt användargränssnitt som minimerar risken att användaren konfigurerar systemet på ett felaktigt sätt. Studien visade sig att det inte finns några MMI modeller som tar hänsyn till felkonfigureringar, och en ny modell skapades. Den nya modellen användes och utvärderas genom att skapa en prototyp av ett grafiskt användargränssnitt för SAAB:s projekt, som testades på en potentiell användare. Testet visade att den nya modellen minskar risken för felkonfigureringar.

The project has explored the topic Smart factory with main focus on the future production staff. The project aims to investigate how the production staff is affected by Volvo Cars Skövde Engine Plant (SkEP) becoming a Smart factory, in the era of Industry 4.0. The definition of the Smart factory is a demand of Mobile- and wireless technologies, Human-oriented, pursue a Flexible production with Sustainable manufacturing, as well as utilization of CPS (Cyber-Physical Systems), IoT (Internet-of-Things) and Cloud storage. The current situation and the future five to twenty years were examined in order to define the future production staff. This by conducting an observational study and several interviews. The studies’ results were that SkEP cannot be regarded as smart since several demands are inadequate by definition. Five years are considered too short of a time for the plant to fulfill the demands. However, according to the interviews and literature, SkEP are expected to become smart in twenty years after time refinement of existing technologies and implementation of new ones. The authors estimate Leadership, Information, IT and Production lay-out to be the areas that require the most effort. The future production staff are expected to be flexible with workplace, working hours and able to manage multiple variants. They should be included in self-supporting teams where every individual possesses an expertise, are motivated and participating. Production staff should perform complex, varied jobs with more responsibility by endorsement of decision support systems. The staffs’ competence should consist of technical education, high basic and lay-out knowledge and the ability to contribute to the collection of information and analyses. Interaction with technology is expected to expand and the personnel must therefore have a well-established comprehension of technology. The concept Smart factory is extensive and relatively new, which means that it is constantly evolving. Thus it is important for SkEP to be updated and adjust to the impact from the outside world.

The manufacturing industry is shifting, entering a new era with smart and connected devices. The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) is promising increased growth and productivity by the Smart Factory and within the enabling technologies is Augmented Reality (AR). This is a technology that can be used to augment the reality with digital information. At the same time as the technology is introduced, errors in manufacturing are a problem which are affecting the productivity and the quality. The errors can be caused by humans and companies strive to eliminate the errors caused by humans. This research aims to find the main causes of human errors in assembly lines and thereafter explores whether AR is an appropriate tool to be used in order to address those issues. Based on a literature review that identified and characterized a preliminary set of root causes for human errors in assembly lines, these causes were empirically studied in an exercise that covered an in-depth case study at a multinational automotive company. Data in form of interviews and deviation reports have been used to identify the causing factors and the result showed that the main causes of human errors are the amount of thinking, deciding and searching for information which affected the cognitive load of the operator and in result their performance. Several interviews with experts in AR allowed to verify if this technology would be feasible to solve or mitigate the found causes. Besides that, in repetitive manual assembly operations, AR is better used showing the process in order to train new operators, at the same time as for experienced operators AR show information only when an error occurs and when there is a need of taking an active choice is more appropriate. Nevertheless, while theoretically able to managing human error when fully developed, the desired application makes the augmentation of visual objects redundant and increasingly complex for solving the identified causes of errors which questions the appropriateness of using AR systems. However, the empirical findings showed that for managing human errors, the main bottleneck of an AR system is the software and AI.<br>Den tillverkande industrin skiftar och går in i en ny era där smart och uppkopplad teknologi introduceras i de operativa delarna av tillverkningen. Denna fjärde industriella revolution (Industry 4.0) som den även kallas för med smarta fabriker, utlovar ökad produktivitet och tillväxt. Bland de teknologier som representeras i detta nya landskap återfinns Augmented Reality (AR), vilket är en teknik som används för att förstärka verkligheten med digital information. I samband med att denna nya teknik introduceras, är avvikelser i produktion ett problem som påverkar företags produktivitet och kvalitet. Den mänskliga faktorn är en bidragande del till detta problem och företag strävar efter att eliminera felen orsakade av människor. Denna studie syftar till att hitta orsakerna till att människor orsakar fel i produktion och därefter utforska om AR är ett lämpligt verktyg att använda för att råda bot på dessa orsaker och därmed eliminera felen. Genom en litteraturstudie har det identifierats ett antal faktorer som påverkar den mentala belastningen hos människor i produktionssammanhang. Dessa faktorer har därefter undersökts genom en fallstudie hos en multinationell tillverkare av kommersiella fordon. Datainsamling i form av intervjuer och avvikelsedata har använts för att identifiera de påverkande faktorerna och resultaten pekade på att behovet av att behöva tänka, leta efter information och fatta beslut påverkade den mentala belastningen mest. Intervjuer hölls med forskare och montörer för att definiera en lämplig AR funktion som sedan undersöktes genom flera intervjuer med forskare inom AR för att verifiera om AR är en lämplig teknik att använda för de identifierade orsakerna. I termer av AR i en arbetsmiljö med repetitiva aktiviteter efterfrågas en funktion som visualiserar fel för montörer som är erfarna medan det för oerfarna montörer är bättre med visualisering av hela arbetsprocessen. Men, trots att systemet i teorin är lämpligt att använda för att hantera orsakerna till att felen uppstår så är den efterfrågade funktionen överflödig då visualisering kommer visas väldigt sällan samt att tekniken är väldigt komplex. Detta gör att det går att ifrågasätta hela funktionen av att använda AR system i det fall som studerades. Dessutom visade sig tekniken vara olämplig att använda i den miljö fallet utspelar sig i på grund av svårigheter med artificiell intelligens (AI).
